Honestly I've never gotten a worse haircut before coming here. For being a curly hair specialist, i probably wouldve been better off at great clips. When i went in the first time, i had told the stylist i wanted my dead ends off so it would've been around 2 inches with layers, she agreed that i would need some length off but only proceeded to cut off 0.5 inches and just styled it. Paid 60$. I thought it was what i wanted until i went home and realized nothing was cut. I texted the stylist asking if i could come in and get some more hair off. So i went in literally 2 days after and told her where i wanted the length. Mind you, i have naturally curly hair so when my cut is wet, it'll have shrinkage than when its dry (i thought she would know this since she has wavy and textured hair). She cut my hair to the length if my hair were pin straight and eventually when it dried, it was extremely uneven. My 'bangs' were an inch from my scalp and too short to even pull back. I paid 60$ again and wasn't expecting to pay at all. I knew it was way shorter than i expected. I tried to style but was just so incredibly choppy and uneven. I was upset not only that my hair looked the complete opposite with what i wanted but i had paid for a bad haircut too. I finally had the courage to contact the stylist asking for a refund and she completely disregarded me saying it was basically my fault that she didn't cut my hair to the right length. If you couldn't handle constructive criticism then I'm afraid you're in the wrong business. Its been months since I got it cut and it's honestly looks worst than before because its growing in so unevenly. I don't usually write Yelp reviews but, I was very disappointed in the quality of work and the lack of effort to provide good customer service at Lace. I walked in to take a look at the salon and I made an appointment based on the recommendation of the owner, Violet. When I asked about the quality of work of the stylist she recommended, Violet said she had "A LOT" of experience so I felt comfortable to make an appointment. However, I could sense during the actual haircut that the stylist was not confident at all. My hair was not long to begin with but, it took her a very long time to make each cut which made me feel uneasy. Before the haircut, I provided a picture of the style I like which is a textured bob. I also requested a few things I typically ask for: that the cut not be bulky, I like some texture so it doesn't look like a bubble and I ask that it not be a drastic graduated bob. Even though I sensed Analissa was not confident and the haircut was taking a lot longer than usual, I tried to be very reassuring, saying things like "take your time" ..."I'm not in any rush". Sadly, The cut I got was everything I hoped it wouldn't be. At the end of the haircut it was so uneven and bulky. The stylist could sense I didn't love it and said I could come back later that day to have it fixed. I have never had to do that in the past. When I came back later, the owner made no attempt to offer the stylist any guidance or any help. When Violet approached, Analissa asked her if there was anything else she could do to fix the cut. I greeted Violet and asked if she would like to see the picture I had and she blatantly ignored me. As an owner of a business, I would think it would be important to help a stylist who does not feel confident and is trying to provide a cut she is not confident doing. I would also think as an owner it would be important to make an effort to show your customers that you value them and want them to leave happy. I'm not very picky but I've also never had such bad results when I've provided a picture AND guidance about what I'd like in a haircut. It is clear from the other responses to reviews on here that Violet doesn't care to to make an effort to provide service recovery. Thankfully hair grows and I won't return here. read more

I loved my old hair stylist and had been going to her for about 10 years. I was very reluctant to find someone new, but after relocating I knew I couldn't make the 2 hour drive just to get my hair done. I did lots of research and found Violet at Lace Salon. What I liked about her (and her salon) is that it the stylists all had different looks and colors in their hair. Not everyone was bleach blonde with highlights. Nothing wrong with that, but I have brown hair and was looking to add some fun color, purples and blues, to my hair. Knowing these colors are hard to work without bleaching your hair first, I needed to find the right person. In Violets profile (she is also the owner), she stated that she had that experience I was looking for. I made a free consultation with her and was relieved to see she too had pink, purple, blue, and green colors in her hair AND it looked amazing. After talking about her with what I wanted, I made an appointment for the coloring a day or two later. The results were beyond my expectations! Even though I had been adding colors to my hair for years, never had it looked so beautiful! She gave me the look I wanted and covered up or blended the gray hair I didn't like. Three months later it was time to do it again. Unfortunately my financial situation had changed, so I couldn't do exactly what I wanted. However, she talked with me and we found a solution that was within my price range and still gave me that pop of color I wanted. It turned out beautiful as well! It was different then the first time, but equally amazing and I left satisfied. I highly recommend visiting this salon! Different stylists specialize in different looks and there are free consultations. Appointments can be booked online and availability so far has been good. It is in Old Sacramento, but if you park in the garage they will give you a voucher to help pay for parking. I think I paid $2 out of pocket each time I went. I'm giving one star because I recently had a bad experience. Due to my work schedule I made a weekend appointment with Yesenia . I have dark, long, brown hair. And I wanted to go lighter for the summer . I went in twice to get my hair done 5 weeks apart . First time half my hair was done . "Balayage " but honestly I could not see a big difference. $220 for that and Plus tip I spent close to $250+ Next time I went in she did HALF my hair AGAIN, and I was charged another 200+ , plus tip . So another $250+ spent. Now the reason why I'm working this review is because I paid a lot for my hair to look like I went to the store and bought a box of bleach and did it on my own. One of my daughters friends who is 7 years old asked me "what is wrong with your hair " "it has two colors " . Now that's embarrassing. I reached out to the owner violate , because I needed something done to my hair so it didn't looked as botched as it did since I had been so embarrassed by it . She mentioned I would have to pay another $250-300 to do a color correction after I sent her a pic of what my hair looked like. Honestly, if my client was unhappy I wouldn't charge her AGAIN to fix the mistake of someone who represents my salon. I just didn't appreciate that. So i took my business else where . And now my hair looks 10 times better. I just feel taken advantage of because I was charged twice for half my hair and because I'm nice and not confrontational and basically walked away upset . And when I brought that up to the owner she asked me why I didn't tell Yesenia to do my whole head. Well I'm sorry but I'm not the professional here . And in Yesenia's professional opinion she didn't think I should do my whole hair because it would damage my hair. But I mean I get that for the first time , but the second time? Two of my bridesmaids and I got our hair done for my wedding with Violet. She was absolutely incredible! Everyone loved it. I had a vague idea of what I wanted with photos of a few different styles.
