I was introduced to Lady and the Shallot by a co-worker who eats a plant-based diet. Lady and the Shallot is located inside the Trenton Farmers Market. It is a vegan/plant-based food stall. My co-worker bragged on their chili so we went to get some. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough chili that day for our orders. We wanted 3, but they only had 1. I decided to get an order of their spuds chipotle style. They were good and filling. I will definitely return to try other items, including their tacos and the chili. If you eat a plant-based diet or just want to incorporate more plant-based meals into your diet, like me, this is your place!

Delicious and casual breakfast eats located inside the Trenton Farmers Market food court. We stopped by to check out the market on our way to Jersey and saw this health-focused vegan establishment. We got the Brekkie Box which came with scrambled tofu, Avacado, black beans, tomatoes, etc. It was filling and delicious.

I was so iffy about trying this spot because it was just out of my comfort zone, but little did I know. I was missing out. It was amazing, for my first time I played it safe and ordered the 3 bean chili & the sauce that came with it was what I would call "drool worthy", lol. The customer service was spectacular, they were so friendly and welcoming. They made me feel comfortable & at ease with my orders and let me try options as well to ease my mind, lol. Definitely will be spreading the word and coming back here!

Rainbow spuds opened in the car, because I wanted a few bites before I drove home. Didn't add the lemon aioli yet, got it on the side.

Updated 7/15/23 I normally get takeout, but today I decided to eat there at one of their tables. It was a very hot day and pretty busy, but received great friendly service as always! Today, I tried the street corn for the first time from here, and it was really tasty. I just realized from the street corn picture, I forgot to use the lime. I love lime so next time I'll use it haha. I also had the rainbow tacos(regular not spicy), and enjoyed them as usual! I'm looking forward to trying more food, I still haven't tried the truffle spuds. Then of course there is always my go to choice, the rainbow tacos or nachos. Definitely, worth the visit today, even in the heat!

Lady and the Shallot is an excellent vegan restaurant in the heart of the Trenton Farmers Market. It is owned and operated by Francesca and Kate, who are married and totally dedicated to providing their customers with delicious creative meals out of their small open kitchen. They work hard, and always seem to have a light, friendly spirit, with time to engage with everyone, and even pose for a photograph I asked to take for this review. I ordered the Brekkie Box, a breakfast oriented cardboard basket of tofu scramble, air roasted potato, black beans, fresh greens, scoop of smashed avocado and sriracha aioli drizzled over it all. The crew got very active as I waited and watched the honed teamwork kick in to keep customers happy as each order was made from scratch. It was delicious. No one will mistake scrambled tofu for eggs, but the texture was almost right and eaten in the mix of all the ingredients the dish was enjoyable, interesting and quite tasty. Those roasted taters were amazing. They would be a strong component to any breakfast. I left sated and pleasantly surprised by the quality and overall experience that is Lady and the Shallot. Great job ladies!

Avocado Curry Toast: avocado, corn, watercress, tahini, and curry roasted chickpeas. $7.95 Flavorful but not what I expected.

Hubby and I decided to go to Lady and the Shallot after we concluded our trip at Grounds for Sculpture. We were looking forward to this place because they are a plant-based eatery. We decided on two different types of avocado toast. One being California at $6.95 and the other is the curry avocado toast which is $7.95. We tried to see pictures of what it would look like prior but we couldn't find any on Yelp. No biggie. When we received our avocado toast, it was served on a round flat bread. We were both surprised because we were expecting toast. Their "toast" would have been better had it been toasted more. Both were tasty but the winner for us was the curry avocado toast. It had more ingredients thus making it more complex whereas the California Avocado toast was creamier. If you'd like water, it's reserved in a huge beverage dispenser with a spigot. It has bit pieces of oranges in it. They serve it in a 16 oz plastic cup with a plastic straw and charge $2.25, just to let you know. We did get refills. You can sit either at the counter (4 stools only) and chat with the two owners, Francesca and Kate or procure a table. They only have four tables. Two chairs per table. The owners pride their establishment to be a nut free and gluten free. They purchase their produce from Pineland farm, Cedarville farm, and Russo's farm. They are located in the Trenton Farmers market.

I'm not vegan but I really enjoy coming here for lunch or for a quick bite. The food exemplifies "clean eating" and I love the creativity on the menu. Everything I've tried has been great, especially the rainbow nachos and rainbow tacos. Lady and the Shallot is a great addition to the Trenton Farmer's Market and I hope they are able to expand in the future.

I have wanted to try this place though so this was our chance. It was really cute inside and actually pretty spacious. First of all, I got the 'Cucumber Fresca' to drink which was Muddled Cucumber, Fresh Lime & Mint Sprigs, Coconut Water, Agave. It was SO refreshing and delicious. I wanted to buy a jug of this stuff. My husband and I shared the 'Loaded Nachos' which was House-Made Tortilla Chips, Pico de Gallo, Avocado, Black Beans, Cashew Queso, Salsa Verde & Sour Cream Drizzle. Again, this was very flavorful and a really good portion size. For the entrees, my husband got the 'Piergios' which was Locally Made Potato Pierogi Sautéed with Caramelized Onions, Served with Applesauce and Sour Cream. As a guy who was scared of Vegan food, he really enjoyed these. The entree was $24 which he thought was a high price for the size of the entree but he liked the taste. I got the 'Truffle Topped Mushroom Risotto' which was a Chunky Mushroom Medley, Carnaroli Rice, Shaved Truffle. It needed a bit more flavoring but it was still a decent portion and had a good taste overall. We ended the meal with the 'Carrot Cake'. It was really good size and the icing was delicious! The staff was super helpful and friendly. The price of our whole meal, including tip, was $120.... which is high for sure but Vegan food is always higher. Would I come back? maybe. But I am very glad I tried it.

We often have odd dining experiences, from our first date 20 years ago to last month. This is my second time at Boro, my wife has been there a couple more times. What sets this restaurant apart is not just the food, but the service. Genuine smiles when we arrived and left. We were sat next to a couple with 4 kids. Not a big deal for us as we have two. The kids were great. As they were leaving, only 15 minutes after we sat, our server said they paid for our first round. It was such a nice gesture even though they were no problem to us. Ok, the food and drinks. I've been hooked on this cocktail recently, a Paper Plane. I asked if they could make it and they sure could. It requires one specific brand of Italian spirit so I was really impressed. My wife had a cool cosmo with white cranberry juice and elderflower liqueur. The reason I will come here for one thing and one thing only is their Crispy Chicken Appetizer. It's everything that you ever wanted sesame General Tso's chicken to be, and more! Just enough so that you'll lick the bowl clean and order some to go...I did. The lobster risotto and chicken we had for entrees were fantastic. My second drink was a seasonally warm take on an old fashioned that was served with a flaming sugar cube and had me saying mmmm after every sip. The Zeppoles....theyre gluten free!! My wife loses her mind over these every time. Well done, Boro. I can't wait to come back.

We started by ordering the crispy chicken, and I ordered a drink from the bar. The crispy chicken was the highlight of the night--very flavorful. The drink arrived 15 minutes after ordering, when we were halfway through the appetizer. I could see the bartender moving slowly, and I heard other patrons complaining about the wait time. It happens, and if the rest of the experience was good, I wouldn't have even remembered that. Our waitress brought us some bread, which was a bit stale, but the butter was fantastic. Our main courses were very average--I had the grilled branzino, which is a simple dish but just lacked flavor or anything to make it stand out. My husband ordered the short rib pappardelle, and the pasta itself was good. The sauce was very, very heavy due to too much truffle. By the time we finished eating, we were fully sweating because the restaurant was so hot. It was a very hot day, and maybe the air-conditioning was not working. Again, forgivable, but on top of everything else, it made for an unpleasant experience. Overall, it felt overpriced for the food and service.

I chose red hot. It was delicious with calamari, shrimp, lobster, mussels, clams, and fish. The penne vodka with sausage and peas was also delicious and a generous portion. The salmon dish was also excellent but had barely any risotto and 6 string beans. Overall, Blooming Grove is a favorite of our extended family and we visit fairly often. I'd like to share how pleased I am about this tea cafe. I came here on a cold and snowy Saturday,…read morebecause my friends live nearby and I was going over their house to hang out, but I wanted to get tea first. The employees behind the counter were cheerful, and they say a phrase in Japanese that means, "welcome," which is a nice touch. The first thing I noticed in the shop was the matcha mill. They actually have two matcha mills running the entire time, and the employee later told me that it's milling and grinding the matcha to get the freshest matcha possible. Grinding and serving the matcha from its fresh ground state really makes their matcha stand out, and I could definitely tell. I was thinking about getting a cold matcha anyway because I didn't want to microwave it later, but they informed me that their machine for hot matcha wasn't working. That is not the best situation for people who wanted a hot drink, especially since it was so cold and damp outside, but I was really interested in a cold drink anyway, so it didn't really bother me. I got their red bean matcha with oat milk, and I was so happy when I drank it because it tasted like actual real matcha. I've gotten matcha at Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts and I haven't expected anything phenomenal, but I've also gotten matcha at matcha shops and the matcha just doesn't taste right because it was too sweet. This matcha, however, tasted exactly the way matcha should taste! I really, really enjoyed my drink so much, and they serve it unsweetened. I didn't even need to put sweetener in it, but I did put a tiny bit of simple syrup. All I have to say is definitely try this place. You will not be disappointed. Their matcha is amazing, and I am going back to this place every time I visit my friend's house.

You even get to see the matcha being freshly milled so you know you're getting some good quality stuff! During each of my visits, I ended up getting whatever monthly/seasonal special they were offering. The first time, I got the ube matcha latte and during my last visit, I got the peppermint chocolate latte. One thing I didn't realize during my first visit is that they give you your drink without the lid so you can sweeten it as you wish. They have syrup that you can pump into your drink. Needless to say, my drink was unsweetened the first time, but still tasty and good enough for me to return. By my second visit, I figured this out as I watched someone else add the syrup to their drink. I literally added a couple of drops because I actually enjoy it when it's not overly sweet. Also, I LOVE that they make all their drinks with oat milk so I don't have to ask for the substitution like I do at most other places. During each visit, I have always received friendly service. I would definitely return!

This review is for the day event. There is also an after party that looked like a good time. Something I immediately noticed up arrival was the level of security provided at the event throughout the day. There was a police and security staff presence. You are throughly scanned with a metal detector to go inside or to the outdoor space. Your purse is open and looked through. Several individuals in line had pat downs. The security was very thorough and still friendly. A lot of effort goes into making this feel like safe space and I really appreciate that. The block party was happening this year! A DJ provided some great music throughout the day. Outside in State Street there were some amazing street vendors selling clothing, jewelry, and make up. Terri's tshirts had the most amazing shirts. Every item is hand made and unique. Most of his tshirts also had matching tie dye patterns on the front and back. I will definitely shop with him again. After shopping we headed inside and ordered some food. There is also a smoothie bar on the left side. You can get your food and drink medicated or non medicated. It's an extra $10 to get an item medicated with 300g of thc. You could not order off the regular menu for this event. Instead there was a whiteboard of specials to help with speeding up service. The food was amazing! Food took longer than expected but we didn't mind as we were enjoying the party. It was disappointing for two of us to have our food brought out after everyone else had finished eatting and bagged up. We had to remind the cashier twice we were missing food. It was 20-30 minutes after everyone else's food was served that the last meals arrived. Definitely an area of improvement for next year. After lunch we moved to the back lounge area and there were more vendors, but these were all cannabis products. The prices were insanely low. The variety of items to pick from was fun to check out. The gentleman selling the infused beverages was giving out free samples. Several vendors had samples as well but he and his product were most memorable. There back outdoor lounge had some very comfy looking outdoor furniture and a stage for performances. Next time I'd my bring my food there to eat. I always love the Street style art that's all over the facility. The decor is the best. They even decked out their ATM. If you are into cannabis this is really a cool spot to visit, especially on 4/20.
