Waited in a long line to get bread and order food to sit down to then learn if we wanted to order and sit it would be the other side of the cafe so then we went to the other side and was told to wait outside which was ridiculous after waiting 20 mins in line to go to another line and not to mention it's hot outside. After waiting outside I tried to just go back into the cafe to get bread and leave and the cashier wouldn't even look in my direction so I wasn't going to stand in the line again, went back outside to let the hostess know we will just leave. Honestly the food was very mi-tier. I'm not from the area so I'm not sure if this is just the standard around here since the reviews are so high. The first thing that was bad was the seating situation. There was not enough seating for the amount of people present. There were even two tables inside and outside that nobody was able to utilize because there were just no chairs. So by that matter the ambience sucked because everyone was like vultures waiting on people to leave. You couldn't even eat without people asking you if you were leaving or trying to take your chairs. The service was awful. You have to wait in a long line to order and once you do you find out that they don't even bring your food to your table. They give you your order on a plastic school cafeteria tray that is so thin you have to carry with both hands or your foods going to fall on the floor. For the food, they prepare it by using a small recreational oven that you would see at starbucks. Our bill was 70 dollars including tip, for reheated food. They have the sandwiches and croissants lying out in front of you and you're lucky if they even heat it up because 2/3 of my party's food was cold. So overall I would say this place is not good and overpriced, which is my honest take. The only good things were the drinks but for a "bakery" and 70 dollars the food should be good as well. I have been here a couple times and only tried the croissants to date. The quality of the croissants are top notch, as they should be for the price point they fall into. The minis are a perfect size if you just want a little treat after a good meal else where in the mall. As the day progresses, the options become more limited. On my last visit it was close to 5pm and while they still had a good selection, you could tell they were out of a lot of things. I opted for the guava and cheese croissant this time. The guava was just the little dab on the top and the cheese was heavily loaded to one end only. Also it was pretty much straight cream cheese since it wasn't mixed with the guava as you typically find this flavor combo so proceed accordingly. Place is in an open air mall/shopping center that purports to be higher-end, yet it's devoid of any kind of shelter for heat, sun, or inclement weather; It was actually lightly raining yesterday as I parked and had to run into the place. However, since place had good ratings and I was craving my usual ham + cheese croissant with a latte, I figured I'd try it. Inside, atmosphere is nice, but it's a small place with a very limited menu. I tried calling their number listed in Yelp to ensure they had what I wanted, but system said mobile number was not currently in service; so I had to waste the trip. Upon entering I saw in the display what I wanted (small display and even smaller selection), but I was happy to think that at least I had not wasted a trip, right? Well, not exactly - croissant was not just on the small side, but when I was told it was $12 I was flabbergasted. I live in Miami (this is Miramar/Broward) and these sandwiches are a staple at **ALL** bakeries - the higher end cost of the spectrum is usually $8, with the going rate between $5-7 - and none of these are for small croissants either - some croissants are of different confection styles and varying sizes, of course, but they are typically of decent quality, including the VERY flaky ones, which are not generally my preference as they don't add much to taste, but make quite the mess as they crumble when you eat them. It goes without saying that most of us can well afford a $12 small croissant, but I refuse to support this current ridiculous state where restaurants & bakeries seems to have lost all respect for money as if they were entitled to charge as if the workers had engineering degrees - it's a small croissant - even at MUCH nicer bakeries in Miami where I have it with TONS of PROSCIUTTO HAM and SHAVED AGED PARMESAN, it's only $10. So I just walked out and went to BONJOUR French bakery a few blocks away - did so again today (having to come to Miramar for work for a few months) - I'm very familiar with Bonjour because it started in Miami and they have the same menu as their headquarters, and unlike this smaller operation, Bonjour is a FULL FLEDGED FRENCH BAKERY and BISTRO offering a gamut of French pastries, cakes, baguette sandwiches, breads, entrees, you name it - and place itself is 5-7 times the size so you can find a seat comfortably inside too. In contrast Lady Baker had like 4-5 tables (2 were small ones) and were all taken. At Bonjour I paid the usual $6.99 for a MUCH larger ham and cheese croissant (30-40% larger - see pic) that was prepped to order (vs sitting on display) and still got a side of VERY YUMMY & CRISPY FRENCH FRIES (sizable too) for $3.50 - so all in all I paid $10.50 and still had a $1.50 to apply towards my also yummy and foamy latte. As an added bonus, bonjour recently implemented a new 10% flat service fee for tips instead of the 18-22% that all food service establishments like to suggest/prescribe themselves nowadays as if we are responsible for for paying everyone's kid's college tuitions just because we need to eat every day. Save yourself the drama, AND MONEY, drive a few blocks to Bonjour and get way more for your hard earned money. 6/18/24 5:37 REPLY TO OWNER: I understand how feel, but I'm not refuting that your product is good or bad - I expect it to be great at $7-8. I came here too long ago for a Yelp event and loved it! I'm so happy to have been driving by and had the opportunity to stop by. As mentioned many times before, Lady Baker is a gem. So I settled for the almond croissant and the focaccia that came with a simple (yet amazing) side salad. The employee told me that they always run out and after eating, I definitely understood why. The baked goods in the display case looked delicious however they are "not gluten free friendly," so I only got a latte. The bakery itself is nicely decorated inside and there are some seating outside. At the time I went it was busy inside and had to sit outside. The umbrellas were not opened and there was no coverage for the sun. All in all it's a lovely bakery and I would recommend trying it out. The croissant dough was beautifully flakey. I was trying to behave and eat half now and half later. NOPE! Not today! After getting a taste of half the croissant I decided the other half must be eaten immediately. And I just now ate the Passion Fruit Tart. It was ok. It had good parts- the flaky pastry was great! The fruit filling was too tart for my taste. Yes I know passion fruit is tart naturally. This one just didn't seem to have enough sugar to balance the tart. So she wanted a chocolate croissant- we got one of the last ones left- and the last blueberry band cheese pastry- she says there's a guava magical thing there but they were out- apparently by this time (they close at 7 and it was past 6 pm) they run out of all their magical things... so come on early!!
