Checked out this restaurant yesterday morning with my wife. My experience was a mix of good and bad. Mostly good. Here are some pros and cons of this place. Pros: -Plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. -Very reasonable prices. -Spacious and quaint interior. Comfortable and chill atmosphere. -Friendly staff. -Fast service. -Great food (except with one minor exception noted below). The French Toast and Portuguese sausages were outstanding. Cons: -Poor attention to details. The wife got a fork with a piece of food stuck to it, which means it wasn't washed properly. We also only got one knife between the two of us. We ended up sharing the knife rather than asking for a second one. -Once the food was served to us, the server did not come around to check up on us. -Maybe it was meant to be served this way, but the scrambled eggs were overcooked. Despite some flaws, I would still recommend this place. Not going to penalize a place for mistakes that most customers probably wouldn't even notice or experience themselves. For the price point and quality of the food, this place is damn good.

Came here for a high school reunion lunch with 9 classmates. Parking lot was packed because of the Juneteenth holiday. Service was excellent, dining room was bustling. Ot had been years since I was last here. Conversations and catching up with high school buddies was great. The food however missed the mark. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and kalbi combination. Serving size was huge, but the flavors were off. Both meat dishes were bland and should have had unique taste profiles. One good thing is they serve beer, so that was a plus.

Delicious, comfort food. The menu selection is very diverse. The restaurant is clean, orderly and homey vibe. The service staff are bit off when I visited.

Ladybug Cafe is a solid choice for dinner in Gardena, it sits in the old Sizzlers location. Great parking - loads and load you'll never have a problem however getting out onto Western Ave may be a tricky but doable. Last night we decided to have a nice enjoyable dinner with the family (mom, brother and sister accompanied by their significant other of course) and talk chotto (talk short time). Entire staff at Ladybug are very good at what they do and friendly. Food is always spot on delicious.

The hamburger is huge and tasty. This is another fav of mine. The staff are very friendly and efficient, they treat you like family. The Hawaiian decor, the laid back cozy cafe and the ohana spirit create this hole in the wall food destination. You truly feel as if you're enjoying a meal somewhere in Hawaii. There's plenty of parking in the back lot, so bring your gang and get the good stuff

Early evening dinner on a Sunday, with friends, at the Ladybug Cafe. I'll start with friendly staff members and easily a place for comfort food. The dining area is comfortable and was perfect for our group. The Ladybug fried chicken was juicy and flavorful. The Ahi Poke was a nice traditional flavor, and not all jazzed up with things you don't need. Now don't judge me for the double Mac salad, but someone said they are known to have a good Mac. It was pretty good, but I think I shouldn't have substituted my salad for it. In fact I shouldn't have done the up graded Chinese Chicken Salad. Maybe next time. I would definitely recommend this place and would like to go back again to try their other dishes. Enjoy!

My last review for 2025. If you're looking for some delicious comfort Hawaiian food, Ladybug Cafe is the place. We made reservations for 10 peeps and was seated right away when we arrived. Service was fantastic and so friendly. As for the food it was delicious. We ordered the following: Spam Musubi- Simple and delicious. Loco Moco Bowl- For being a bowl, the portions were huge. Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon Plate- Salmon was perfectly cook and moist the chicken was little on the dry side but good. Hugh portions as well. Ahi Poke Bowl- The Ahi Poke was fresh and delicious. Overall, Ladybug Cafe does take you home to the islands. Definitely a place I would return to if I'm in the area and craving Hawaiian food.

Another solid Hawaiian food joint in the South Bay. Used to be the old Bob's Hawaiian location. Friendly staff. Large portions. And large area with lots of seating.

If you want some original style Hawaiian local food, here's a place you need to visit. They have been around a long time and have a lot of longtime loyal customers. They have a mixture of local favorites such as laulau, kalua pig, sweet sour spare ribs and saimin. They also have local style Japanese food and a full breakfast menu such as Portuguese sausage and eggs served all day.

Great spot for a huge, hearty meal! We came here with a large party and got seated without issue. Service was super kind, patient, and attentive - we had a great time! Menu had a good mix of meal types which was great for variety. Food came out quickly and tasted amazing - truly a great experience. The portions were huge and felt super authentic; prices were reasonable as well! We left feeling full and super happy about the meal. Great experience, I would definitely come back if in the area again. Thanks, Ladybug Café!

10/27/2025 Came during my lunch. The waiter was polite and friendly. We were able to order quickly. I ordered the short rib bowl. It was really good and the meat was tender. There is plenty of seating for 2 or a group.

As a local born and raised in Hawai'i, I feel like I have scoured all of LA County for some decent lau lau. I cannot tell you how many times I've left restaurants only to be disappointed, on the verge of giving up my quest. I have officially stopped looking and will likely not attempt to order lau lau elsewhere. If you have also had the unfortunate experience of biting into a piece of lau lau that was dry-as-the-Sahara-desert...no worry, beef curry. Sample Ladybug, you won't regret it. Must try the braised short rib as well. The meat is tender and full of flavor. Love the ambiance as it has a very local mom and pop feel to it.

When we arrived luckily there was no wait and were sat immediately. Luckily it was only a couple moments before a party of maybe 12 arrived behind us for dinner. Our host and server were helpful and efficient. We quickly scanned through their menu and decided on their combos (pork cutlet and tempura) Our trays of paradise quickly arrived and looked beautiful! ( see attached for reference ) i loved the balanced presentation and blend of flavors. Each tray had some miso, a 4 bite California roll, some rice, soba noodles, broth, wasabi and ginger. Mine came with some dipping sauce for the tempura. Considering the amount of food I was very satisfied. The tempura was gorgeously crafted with semi thin crisped batter, and a decent amount portioned. I was mostly amazed by my girlfriends pork plate. Their crisp cutlet had beautifully made with an easy crunchy exterior and soft tender pork savory to taste. All elements complimented each other perfectly. Their soba was also good quality and a nice touch to an already balanced dinner. While I was exactly stuffed after dinner, i was still impressed with their entree presentation, quality of food, calming ambiance and great service.

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.

My husband couldn't settle on just one dish, so he went all out with a chicken oyakodon, grilled salmon, steamed eggplant, and a stir-fried chicken and bean sprout dish. The restaurant itself is narrow and deep, which actually reminded me of some of the small alleyway restaurants we visited during our travels in Japan. It added to the cozy and authentic feel. The service was attentive, especially when we requested a few extra items. One thing that really stood out was their ponzu sauce. It seemed to include green onions and perhaps a touch of vinegar, and it was absolutely delicious. It paired perfectly with the sashimi, steamed eggplant, and even the chicken dishes. Next time, I'm definitely going to spend some time studying the menu beforehand. The portions were generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal, and we were lucky enough to find parking right in front of the restaurant.

It was pretty busy on a Sunday evening, but after about a 5-minute wait for a table to be cleaned, we were seated. The space had a lively, casual vibe -- definitely a popular spot for dinner. I love seafood, but I also really wanted to try the katsu, so even though I'm not a big eater, I went with Combo D... which was huge. Honestly, I think it could easily feed two people. The side soup and bread came out almost immediately. The soup was simple but nice with a bit of pepper, and the bread was so good -- warm, soft, and buttery (I had to pace myself knowing what was coming). The pasta was delicious -- the clams weren't overly "clammy" (lol), and the cream sauce was light and not too heavy. The katsu was crispy and satisfying, and the salad added a nice, refreshing balance. Everything worked really well together. I ended up taking a good portion home, and even reheated, it was still just as good! Overall, a great spot with generous portions and solid food. This restaurant came up on my FB feed, and the food looked really good, so we thought, "Why not…read moregive it a try?" I usually read through the Yelp comments and look at the photos before trying a new place, but this time I only checked the rating -- which was great -- and decided to go based on that and the FB post. Looking back, I probably should have read the reviews first. We didn't realize the bento boxes are only available during lunchtime, and we were also surprised to find out they don't have yakitori. Those were two things we were hoping to try. We came with a party and ordered several items, including the Akatsuki Special Hot Pot, which was recommended to us, along with other dishes. The tempura and karaage were definitely the highlights -- both were really good. The rest of the food was okay for our group, but unfortunately it didn't really satisfy our craving or stand out the way we were hoping. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly. I think the biggest thing was that our expectations were set by what we saw on FB, and the items that caught our attention weren't available when we visited. I would recommend checking their current menu before going so you know what to expect. Maybe we'll come back another time to try their lunch menu and explore more of what they offer.
