A family member who lives in Ormond Beach kept raving about Lagerheads and was only too happy to bring us there and treat us to lunch. The pace was really busy when we arrived at noon. Parking was a challenge during the daytime so I can only assume it gets worse at night. This is a casual beach bar and we ate outside. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining brightly and a nice view of the ocean across the street. As mentioned, it was busy and service was a little slow but our waitress was friendly and efficient. The fried fish sandwich was recommended so that was what I ordered. I was a bit perplexed when this VERY large piece of fish arrived on a hoagie roll hiding greenery and tomatoes. Regulars must have a trick to eat this. I eventually gave up trying to eat it like a sandwich and just ate it with my fork so I didn't make a mess. This massive sandwich was accompanied by onion rings. There was a good amount of food for the money. My only disappointment was that it was really greasy. Even our host noticed it was not the usual quality. I'm guessing that because of the big crowd, they may have put too much in the fryer at once, cooling the fat and losing the crispiness. The quantity was great but the quality was off. We happened by on a Monday, early afternoon. Although there were few patrons, the wait staff was busily preparing the evening rush. Our server was delightful and knowledgeable about the menu. My wife chose the steamed crab dinner while I ordered the mixed seafood platter. Both entrees were prepared efficiently and were both plentiful and delicious. Great little divey beach shack right across the street from the ocean. Sit outside with a bucket of beers, fish & chips and you're set for the afternoon. This spot is pretty much the only outdoor bar on the beach in Ormond so it's a great place to hang on a sunny weekend afternoon. They had live music when we went on a Saturday and the place was packed. Parking can be a challenge so you'll need to drive around a bit to find a spot if there's not one directly out front. The inside is small, but there's a bar you can post up at, or just grab a table outside to enjoy the views. One thing to note here is this is a dive bar/restaurant - you're going to get dive bar food & drink options for dive bar prices. If you're looking for a family fish camp or river grill type vibe, this isn't it so best to set your expectations before visiting :) read more

We winter here. Been to Lagerheads every time we go to Ormand's fantastic beachfront. The one man entertainment is excellent , as well. The food is superb, the service is either extremely good, or, bad depending on the server . The Poor Boy prices have almost doubled over the past 4 years! This restaurant is located at hammock Beach resort and is an extraordinary hidden gem. It's safe to say that the salad I ordered with fried calamari is the best I have ever tasted. My boyfriend also agreed that his burger was one of the best he's ever had. I would definitely recommend this place! Food came out pretty quick as well. read more

TOURIST TRAP DO NOT GO CAN NOT HANDLE LARGE PARTIES I was trying to promote their new breakfast for them so I got 18 friends to agree to go to breakfast. I love supporting small business and helping them thrive. I called 3 times before we arrived that day to let them know that we would be a party of 18. They agreed it was fine and they were ready for us. We arrived and immediately the waitress was in a bad mood and it was clear she did not want us there as she voiced repeatedly it was too much. They knew we were coming and still only had one waitress. We tried to let her know we were patient. She was still very annoyed the entire time. We waited over an hour for first bit of food to arrive. When they did a lot of the orders were incorrect and 4 of us did not get food until at least 90 minutes after we ordered. (This is a dive bar not fine dining) Whenever we asked the waitress for more water or ice she snapped stating they are never doing this again 18 is just too much. She was very rude and yes, she may have been overwhelmed but we were all being extremely patient with ehr. I asked her what they would do if 18 people just showed up, or what they would do if a lot of people that did not know each other showed up at the same time and she said "Turn them away". It was really bad service. Checks came and a lot of them were wrong. We were told we should have never done 18 checks and the good thing would have been to do one check. They never asked us to do one check we would have been happy too. After every one left I asked to speak to the owner Jen and I explained how disappointed I was with the service after giving them plenty of notice. Her response was "Well you all very poorly tipped after she busted her ass so there's that" I explained we actually all left at least 20% I myself left 50% $5.00 on a $10.00 tab. So was not sure what she thought poor tipping was. She then said we should have never done 18 checks again and I stated had she asked us to do one check we'd have been happy to do that. I explained that the service was bad way before we tipped and had nothing to do with their bad service and all I was trying to do was provide feedback as I set out to do something nice for them by promoting their breakfast and we were all treated very poorly. Owners response was was very rude and unapologetic. So at that point I just left. read more

First time at Lagerheads Bar and Grill for our group of three. We were greeted as soon as we arrived at the front entrance. We chose to be seated at a high top table indoors because of the cool weather although there was plenty of available seating in and out. Nearly every seat offers views of the ocean which is just across Rte A1A. Our server was attentive and courteous. The two sided menu contains a wide variety of food options from seafood to steaks and salads. Full bar with beer, wine and liquor selections. Prices are very reasonable. Paid a lot of attention to us but you could notice that's how they treated Everyone else too, guy next to us never had an empty beer.. possibly bc they were slow. There is a lot of seating options inside and out- so I bet during peak times, service is a tad slower. But that's to be expected. Food: Wings were very good.. maybe a just slightly overlooked, but that's only me being super critical. Shrimp were made with old bay, so you can't go wrong there. They bring food with bowls on tops of the meal- which is nice for keeping good warms and bugs out. We stopped here because of the outer building decor and the cars parked in front. It looked like an ocean front seafood restaurant. It turned out to be a beer joint with high priced frozen foods that were either dropped in oil and fried or micro-waved. Everything way way over priced. We ended up ordering from the appetizers because they didn't have anything we asked for. I had 6 very small overcooked hard coconut shrimp ($9). I ordered this because they were out of everything (or frozen like the oysters) I asked about. My friend had wings (the worst she said she had ever had - she is 86), skinless, dipped in hot sauce, cold and hard as a rock ($11). She also had fried okra (looked like the fried okra pieces you buy frozen at Costco and microwave) - she ate bites off of the "wings" and ate a few of the okra pieces - then got a box and put the okra in it to feed to the birds. She also had an iced tea ($3) As we looked around we saw people were not eating - they were drinking beer and socializing. read more

Pretty good place to eat but service is SLOW. Has a nice beach atmosphere with live music and makes you feel like you're on vacation. The menu has good options and we chose the grilled halibut with veggies and hush puppies and then the halibut ruben. The fish was cooked really well and tasted great, the veggies were just steamed frozen ones but the hush puppies were really good! The halibut ruben was pretty good and something I've never had before. The only downside was the service as it took forever to get our drinks, food, refills and check.
