Coming home to get to pick up Elaine and head to Daytona Beach for dinner
    Guy H.

My wife and I drove from Ocala to meet up with a friend at Lagerheads in Ormond Beach.. The wings and BLTs were very good. The music, sung by a local guy, was perfect and the breeze coming in off the ocean provided an evening of enchantment. If your on A1A either going to or coming from Daytona Beach, you have to stop in for a little music, great food and a great experience along the coast ...we have been here many times over the years and expect to return many more.

Cruising A1A and stopped in to this dive bar for a beer and a snack and to watch the end to the Tampa Bay Bucs game. It's a great dive bar with friendly folks, cold beer and a great menu. All we got was a mozzarella stick appetizer with our beer but it was very good. Also, I could see the food others were getting and it looked very good. Glad we stopped in here !

This is a cute little dive bar on A1A on the north end of Ormond Beach. Our server was Leah. She was kind, helpful and a general pleasure to interact with. We had the fried pickles and alligator for appetizers. They were both really good. I would go back there for the fried pickles alone. For main courses: I had the grilled grouper sandwich and my husband had the fried grouper. Both were awesome. I highly recommend it

On our way from Daytona to St. Augustine, we stopped here for lunch. It's right on the beach. The wait staff was very helpful. The flounder fingers were very good but the grouper was outstanding! Very good meal for our first seafood on a weeklong visit.

Love this place! Family owned and great hospitality, service and great food and drinks. Thank you to the owner Kevin, his daughter "Fee". I love their decor, atmosphere and their live music was terrific also. We were able to go across the street after our delicious basket of great choices of food. It was fun to be right on the beach and in the Atlantic Ocean. Great time! (Oh my! One of my Texas friends has informed me her ancestor was Captain Ormond!) I'm sending Leslie here when she comes to visit. Treat her well. Thank ya'll!!

We had an impromptu stop in to Lagerheads tonight and have to say, PLEASANTLY surprised! First, staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Second, food was on point. Not a single scrap left on any of them. Third, the live music was fantastic. Forth, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. :) Natalie took great care of us. It might look like a little bit of a tourist trap, but definitely worth a stop for good food and good times.

We have the prime view of the Atlantic as we see what to order.

Before we returned to South Florida, my wife and I had lunch with my Mom at Lagerheads, which is situated right across from the Atlantic Ocean on A1A. My Mom loves this place because it's down the street from her house so she can walk to it. So, we gave this place a go. Our experience was decent. Our server was great. He did his best to ensure we had drinks and what we needed per what we ordered. The Mai Tai, Bloody Mary, and the Floridian Dream were delicious. And we had waters at our table refilled promptly. The kitchen was hit or miss with the orders. Our stepson ordered a fried chicken sandwich and received a fish sandwich instead, which the server sent back and ensured the right order was done. My wife is celiac and ordered the grouper Caesar salad, being ensured that there wasn't anything touched by gluten; there were croutons in the salad. While we were able to remove them without my wife getting glutened, that was still disconcerting. That wasn't the fault of the server who did his best to correct things. On the other side of the coin, the wings were incredibly tantalizing, which I enjoyed with hot sauce and blue cheese. The gator po'boy was decent, a little chewy. The fries were wicked good though. Parking is found at the front of the property mostly, which fortunately we found a spot before the restaurant became too busy. During peak hours, it can be a challenge unless you are within walking distance of where you live. Plus being on A1A, you have to ensure you are not at the mercy of oncoming traffic. Overall, I would come back. Lagerheads is a good, local spot to get some good grub.

Our first restaurant tried in Ormond Beach. Cozy beach atmosphere and a menu full of options. Great cocktails and service. Had the fish and chips which was good as well as the Floridian dream cocktail. Highly recommend for a beachy meal.

This place was recommended by locals and yelp. We had been traveling most the day to get here. Service was good, the love music was great too. Food was just ok. Potato skins were not great, but we were starved. We ordered fish and chips, ahi tuna, and burger and fries. Would be great for drinks and music.

This is exactly the beach bar you want near your house. Great view. Nightly music. And the food is very good. I've had much of the menu and the lager melt is my favorite. The shrimp a close second. The fries are always perfectly fine and tasty. If you like shrimp tacos, these are a very good choice. As you expect, good bet selection and a full bar. Visit my neighborhood and support this gray place!

I belong to a group of about 600 journalists across the country who participate in a blog about their experiences. Here is the recent post I sent my journalist friends about my experience at Frank's, and then Hanky Panky's, and the responses I got from fellow journalists: DANA WILKIE writes: How to Get Kicked Out of a Pool Hall So, for years I've been shooting pool recreationally. Typically, that required having a pool table in my home, which I sometimes did, or frequenting pool halls and bars to seek challengers. Recently, I began playing in tournaments at our local hall and, boy, is that learning curve steep. APA rules are different from bar rules, and so I've learned new terms like "ball in hand" and "in the kitchen." I've acquired new accoutrements, like a break stick, a shooting glove, and a pool tip shaper. These are high competitors, these pool tournament folks, and they don't suffer amateurs patiently. Compared to them, I'm a rank amateur. I was schooled about A) not chalking up the table too much; and B) not hovering too close to the table to view my opponent's shots; and C) how to improve my piss-poor, anemic breaks. So it was that I frequented another local bar here in Ormond Beach, Florida, by the name of "Frank's." There, beyond the view of these tournament sharks, I practiced on my own - perfecting angles and bank shots, learning about "walking the dog" (pool slang for rolling a ball against the rail all the way down to a corner pocket) and trying not to chalk up the table. This went well for some time, until I ran afoul of Frank's bartendress, who apparently took an instant disliking to me. Surly and rude - to several patrons, I've heard - she chided me for leaving my debit card behind, for playing music on my iPhone that "nobody wants to hear" and for - you know - chalking up the table (even though Frank's provides abundant chalk for just this purpose). So apparently, according to patrons, I further irritate said bartendress - she is inaptly named "Charity" -- by talking too much with her boyfriend and shooting against him. So, things started to get ugly. Charity's boss, the two of them friends, marches up to me one evening after I walk in, and declares that I was spotted lifting someone's purse the night before. First, the purse in question belonged to a friend and fellow shooter who asked me to move it from one chair to a chair closer to her. Second, while I'm hardly made of money, I'm not yet at the point where I need to pilfer purses. I try to object, but then realize that this owner, her name is Annette, has it out for me. So, I return to Frank's and try not to chalk up, keep my iPhone on silent, retrieve my debit card dutifully, and avoid said bartendress's sometime boyfriend. Only to be confronted one more by "Annette," who claims that there have been "too many complaints" about me and then announces she's banning me from "Frank's." Now I fully recognize that an establishment's owner has the freedom to refuse service to anyone, for any reason. I'm also aware that what went down here was about jealousy, pettiness, and retribution. Regardless, there are other local halls - including the tournament hall where shooters are tough -- but friendly and helpful. In any event, I sort of consider this a badge of honor. I've been kicked out of a pool hall! Wait 'till my future grandchildren hear about it. Meanwhile, the rumors of my apparent transgressions drifted down a few blocks to the new pool hall I began frequenting -- entitled "Hanky Panky's." Before long, the owner there, a man by the name of Mike, had it out for me. So did the woman running the tournaments there, who quickly found reason to kick me out of said tournaments after I beat her a few times. Eventually, owner Mike --a thoroughly messed up and apparently coked or methed up guy -- kicked me out as well.

Everyone just seems so happy here so you can tell that it really enjoy their jobs which makes a huge difference. We started off with the coconut shrimp and had like this coconut mayo dipping sauce was different, but it was really good, but I felt like it needed like a sweet-and-sour sauce then I had the mahi tacos with just the rice no black beans definitely still as good as the last time I tried it my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken pizza gluten-free and he ate the entire thing so that just tells you right off the bat that it was good and to finish off our dinners we ended with Keylime pie. It wasn't the best it was OK. I don't think I would have it again, though the ambience, excellent this place is adorable. It's like a diamond in the rough. No one really knows it's here but anytime ever and someone says they're going to Daytona. I always recommend this place. Go here! You will never be disappointed trust me!

I want to preface this by saying we went on a very cold day and ate indoors..the pizza was outstanding and the waiter was friendly and engaging..in other words, typical for our experiences there. Prior to this, we even brought friends who hadn't been there before and loved it...now, to our recent experience: We were seated and the waitress seemed as though she wasn't very familiar with the menu and had to check on our requests, each check took a disturbingly long time. When we brought our friends, my gal ordered a hamburger and I asked the waitress if she could have the wagyu, rather than the angus burger, she readily said yes and my gal marveled over the burger...fast forward to the last experience, the waitress said she'd have to order the wagyu as posted and it "wasn't available" as a stand alone order. So my gal settled for the angus burger and again, the wait was a bit long and as we were considering to leave, the waitress showed up, gave us our food and left. the onion rings were cold...literally...they had been out so long that they weren't even warm (our prior experiences the onion rings arrived hot and delicious). Again we waited for our waitress to return and my gal had to ask another waitress if she could get us some hot onion rings. That waitress noted the cold onion rings and brought them back to the kitchen to prove we weren't being unreasonable, which was a greatly appreciated gesture on her part. Very promptly, the "other" waitress brought our onion rings, apologizing profusely...we thanked her and when my gal started into her Caesar salad, it was inedible....soggy, nearly tasteless and resembling a hot spinach salad with soggy lettuce than a crisp Caesar salad....the upside, the second batch of onion rings were up to their usual excellent standard, the burger was good, but not the intensity of flavor their wagyu burger had. If we hadn't been semi-regulars, it is a near certainty we wouldn't go back, but we aren't going to let a single experience unravel years of good experiences.

We visit Beaver Bar multiple times during the larger motorcycle events like Bike Week and…read moreBiketoberfest annually. The establishment is open all year round; however, it's most 'happening' during those two events. It's a great spot to take a break and kick back in one of their chairs on the lawn in front of the building to enjoy an adult beverage, smoke a cigar or something more potent, and watch all the motorcycles go by. Traffic slows down here so you have an opportunity to see all the unique and custom bikes and people wearing all their wild biker garb. There are also hundreds of people walking back and forth between Iron Horse Saloon and Broken Spoke to see the big bands at each location, so you have an opportunity to see and meet a lot of cool and unique people if you're chilling here. During the larger motorcycle events motorcycle parking (in the general area) is typically $5 but you can find free spots if you know where to look. Parking for cars is usually around $20 but you can find $10 spots. Pricing fluctuates depending on how high capacity will be that evening; essentially, if Hair Ball is playing it's $20 for a car unless you arrive earlier in the day. The bar can get packed inside; they have some tables for dining-in but they are limited. There is also a nice patio in the back with more tables for dining. There is a stage for bands and there are usually bands playing all day during the big bike events. I don't think I've seen a 'bad band' here yet. I haven't eaten dinner here but we have tried their Sunday breakfast bar in the past. The buffet is $7 and it starts at 8:00am. A group of us like to go up in the morning to see the happenings here and before heading over to Broken Spoke, Iron Horse, or Teddy Morse's Harley to catch whatever early morning activities are going on. Staff is friendly, but it can be difficult getting a drink at times during peak hours. They don't have any beer stations around where you can just grab a beer and go like at main street, most people are passing through from Iron Horse to Broken Spoke and vice-versa, so they are more likely to order drinks at those two locations. There are some that might hang here for a while but they are usually waiting for an event to start somewhere else and just want to relax somewhere different for a while. It's not the cleanest place around and the bathrooms can get trashed here during large events. Honestly your best option for a restroom is the Porto potties at the Broken Spoke because they hire staff to maintain them during the events. You will find that the Porto Potties at Broken Spoke are much cleaner than the ones at Iron Horse. All-in-all, Beaver Bar is a great place to visit during the larger motorcycle events and if you're looking for a great spot to get away from the larger crowds, shop for a while, get a quick bite to eat, and relax for a few, than Beaver Bar is the place.
