Went to Lagerheads this week. Had the fish sandwich the first time and tasted the grouper sandwich my daughter ordered. My fried haddock sandwich was melt in your mouth excellent. A bite from my daughters Blackened Grouper sandwich and I was hooked for my go to sandwich the future. I went back the next day and had one of my own. The cole slaw and sweet potato fries were the best I have had anywhere! The wait time was good considering the amount of customers. The staff were friendly and accommodating. My only complaint was the amount of noise at times. Ambience was great for a beach cafe! Lots of interesting things on the walls a ceiling! read more

Usually a favorite but was completely ignored today. Spoke with one server when tables were dirty and asked her if we should wait she said yes. We sat at a top round table on the little deck and another server made eye contact with me she is a big top on the left. the final straw was one of four top came in after we have been sitting there for 10 minutes sat down and we're immediately greeted with minions and silverware and when the server was getting the menu she looked at us almost grabbed two menus and looked at them grabbed four menus and went to them so we got up and left. We both been to the restaurant business and are very decent tipper is especially this time of year. Won't be back for a while until they clean up their act thumbs down for service and attitude when I asked about a table. read more

Went to Lagerheads today after it was suggested to us by a friend, and checking online reviews it had a 4.4 rating. I had the fish and shrimp and clam strip platter, my wife had the fish and chips and my friend had chicken strips. It was one of the worst meals we have ever had, I am usually generous with my reviews, however the shrimp, chicken strips and clam strips were so overcooked and hard they were difficult to eat, coleslaw left a lot to be desired. Fries were just ok and draft beers were ok. The haddock was the only thing halfway decent. Service was very slow and the servers appeared to be overwhelmed. Prices were rather high for such a small portion of food. read more

Really enjoyed our takeout meals today. I had the grilled seafood dinner which was grouper and sides of mashed potatoes and gravy with mixed vegetables. Each was delicious. My wife had the meatloaf dinner and it was excellent also. NOTE: The menu picture prices are way out of date. My seafood dinner was $4.75 more than the menu picture price. Meatloaf was $3.00 more. My second time at this place, after my Fish Taco disaster a couple of years ago. Thought I would plat it safe this time. Ordered the meatloaf with onion rings and mashed potatoes to go. I'll keep this short: Onion rings were literally like rubber bands in batter. Couldn't even bite thru one, had to tear it off. Worst I've ever had. Mashed potatoes were ice cold and tasteless (we live 5 minutes away, so it wasn't from the drive home). ZERO taste. Meatloaf was moist and a good consistancy, but also virtually tasteless. No spices at all, not even salt. Container of gravy was definitely from a can. Waste of time and money. My second and most probably last time there. We were so surprised when we went to Lagerheads! I saw a server that I used to work with, that was a great bartender, shame on you Oceanside for letting him go! We had such a good lunch, my son got the grouper sandwich , and it was great! I got the quesadilla and it was also great, my mom got the chicken tenders which was huge , she took a bunch home, for another meal! My husband got the cheesesteak and that was also good! We rode our bicycles over for a few beers and appetizers. We had the steamed Cedar Key clams which were good but the seared ahi tuna was off the chain. Much better than I expected. I had a few Hopsecutioners which was good too. It's a neighborhood bar and grill and we'll be back. read more

Recently ate here on a whim. It was close, I was hungry. It was not a disappointment. Atmosphere was friendly, service was great. They let us know right away the kitchen was backed up and the wait was more than worth it. I had the best fried fish sandwich I've ever eaten and it was huge. My cousin had the coconut shrimp and chowder. Both wonderful. Live music, great food, wonderful service, lively atmosphere, nothing more to say. Give your taste buds a treat, go, go, go. Nice waitstaff but I guess my expectations for a clean environment (Covid) was too much to ask. Other guests were trying to find a clean table, cigarette smoke was just hanging in the air - we opted for indoor seating. Filthy inside as well and the food was nothing to write home about. The best grouper sandwich I've ever had! The grouper reuben is amazing. I'm already thinking about when I can come back and order it again. Our dog loved it here just as much as we did. The staff greeted us immediately and brought out a bowl of water for our dog. Everyone was so kind and took time to stop by and pet our dog. They even brought her a dog treat! Just drove over from west coast to see my daughter and son in law and 2 grandsons to spend the day at the beach. After a morning of beach and pool Ed my son in law recommended Lagerheads. Great choice this was possibly best cheeseburger I have ever had! Sue had a grouper salad, the grandkids had chicken fingers. Ed got a shrimp basket and Jessica had shrimp tacos. Great service! Dog friendly patio... Even had dog menu options. They have breakfast on Saturday & Sunday. Awesome laid back live music on the patio nightly. Musician even took a break just to come pet our pups! Grouper Ruben and Lagerhead club were delicious. Pups thoroughly enjoyed the grilled chicken breast. For Pub/Bar Food, this was quite good. Most of the family had basic fried food, but I had the grouper sandwich and lobster bisque. Very solid on both fronts. Pickup was quick and easy. The Key Lime Pie was quite good as well. Large servings, good value. Remember, it's Bar Food, and for that 4*. As a standard sit-down restaurant, I'd probably give it 3.5. read more

I would give this 0 stars if it would let me. The bar tender was nice. But everything was horrible. Everything. I ordered two different drinks and they both tasted like mildew. When brought up she got me another one which was equally as terrible as the first. I then made the mistake of ordering some soggy French fries and the worst crab soup I have had. It was so bad I'm 100% sure I got food poisoning from there and couldn't move the next day. I wouldn't go back if it was the only bar left. We have met some great friends over the years and look forward to catching up when we get here. We have eaten here for several years. Tonight we had a large group which we would have split, but we were only given the choice to sit outside. The inside was reserved for the owners daughter who was not there the entire time we were waited on and our food came. It started to rain and our food was sat down in the rain (no covering at all). We had asked to move in several times to several locations but were told no. We were not going to sit in the rain and eat wet food while the inside sat empty. That was the worse case of customer service I have ever experienced. We will never return. read more

Ordered blackened chicken sandwitch with fries, got dry to the bone grilled chicken sandwitch with a pile of rotten looking soggy cabbage. When i asked for fries the lady gave me this glare even though she messed up every aspect of my meal (down to the wrong drink). Fries were cold and soggy with that 'recently thawed' taste and smell. I went to Lagerheads for lunch today with my husband and son. Two of us had the fried shrimp basket and it was OUTSTANDING! The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The basket consisted of fried shrimp, French fries, hush puppies and cole slaw. My husband had the Lagermelt (fresh cooked burger with cheese and fried shoestring onions on rye bread) along with French fries and a pickle, and he said it was great! All of the food was hot, fresh and delicious and at a fair price. To top it off, our server, Jordan, was very friendly and attentive, a true delight. This visit to Lagerheads was definitely worth the trip! read more

Terrible food with even worse service. Maybe because were not locals i'm not sure but just all around poor, rude service. The waitress was rarely present and rude. At one point in the dinner she spilled a full glass of water on me. She didn't bother to apologize nor bring me back any napkins which was kind of the last straw on the night. An option if you're on the north beach of Ormond and don't want to head into town for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This is on Ocean Shore Blvd (the main road along the beach) six miles north of Granada Blvd. Little place you can almost miss. Indoor and outdoor seating and it's pretty laid back. They had a guitar player performing on an early Saturday afternoon when we visited and customers ranged in ages and cultures and seemed pretty happy. The menu is what you would expect at a beach-side restaurant, served in baskets. I must admit I was annoyed with the lack of any service. We ordered fish and a burger. Once our food finally arrived it was okay but attempts at more water, napkins, or the side items we ordered, were ignored by several of the staff. Once finished we did our best to wait for the check but had to get up and flag down someone inside. We weren't in a hurry nor was I expecting good service but after an hour I was ready to leave (get back to the beach). I don't ask for much, just at least pretend like you care. I tipped as normal as you never know who's behind the direction of a restaurant, and maybe it was just one of those days. That said, looks like a fun place to hang out. Casual, no shirt, no shoes. Smoke if you want. Stunning beach on the other side of the narrow road. Serves beer and food five-minutes away from walking barefoot on the shore. read more
