I have been noticing recently that the quality of food at La Palapas is going downhill. Today I decided to give them a try again because my son wanted breakfast tacos and I got a beef crunchy taco plate and the hamburger meat looks like there's fillers in it. I did an online search and there's no public information for that, they do claim 100% Angus beef for their fajitas but they don't claim their picadillo is 100% ground beef which means it has fillers and if they tell you it doesn't have fillers they're full of it. It's not hard to just leave the tortilla on until it's done , in my experience coming to this location it's a 75% chance the tortilla will be mushy inside. We went to the 281/1604 location for the advertised Caldo de res. We even called beforehand to make sure they had it. We were seated, they took our order and came back and said they RAN OUT OF CALDO. This was very disappointing as my wife wasn't feeling very well and caldo is always a welcome remedy on a cold winter evening. I don't want other patrons to go through what we did. We did stay to eat something else from their menu, but left disappointed. We now know why Las Palapas is the mediocre restaurant it is. I attribute our experience here to poor restaurant management. Since it's Taco Tuesday, we went to @laspalapasrestaurants for dinner tonight. Raul took good care of us. Dad had the Lemonade, my husband had the Arnold Palmer, and I had a Margarita. My husband had the Crispy Taco Plate. Dad and I had breakfast for dinner in mind. Dad had a cup of Chicken soup, and the kid's meal with Pancake, Scrambled Eggs, and 2 strips of Bacon. Ordered on Uber eats and let me tell you I ordered a machacado plate, The note I put clearly state to add cheese on the beans only. They proceeded to add cheese only on the egg! That's not what I asked for. Not to mention they use leftover fajita meat which is not the same thing as machacado! Also the entire plate reeked of fish smell which made no sense since there was no fish. This leads me to believe that they're using old oil or the same pans to cook multiple dishes. Just terrible!!! I usually just go through the drive thru but decided to eat here today. I read some negative reviews and thought I would address them here in my review. We have gotten tacos here many times. They are delicious. The salsa is good as well. I have tried the bean and cheese tacos, at many different restaurants, and I prefer Las Palapas. We did not have a problem being seated and were helped right away. All the employees wears masks which I appreciated. We ate outside. Yes, you can hear the cars, but that didn't bother us and we were too busy eating and talking to pay attention. We sat in a corner where the street view was blocked with plants. I liked the outside area. Indoor seating is also available. It did not take us long to get our food. I only recommend places that I have been to numerous times like this one. read more

Food here is good and prices reasonable- but from beginning to end, service was unreasonably slow. This was about 2PM and the restaurant seemed well staffed (at least 4 employees visible outside kitchen) and not too many customers. I was greeted and told I could sit anywhere by a fellow who had a headset and might be the manager. He came over and took my drink order it I didn't know if he would be my waiter or what. He left a menu for me. A while later a waitress (different person) brings the drink and sets it down and leaves. I assume she's just helping him but it's not clear. A long time passes and she eventually brings chips and salsa but still doesn't introduce herself or say what lost servers do.. "I'll be taking care of you today"... still I don't know who will take my order. After another wait she returns to take my order. I asked for additional salsa when she has the chance. The man who greeted me originally came over to see if I was ok while I was waiting on food. Nice. The salsa took a while even though the lady who I assume was my waitress seemed to be just standing around. When the food came she served me and left and muttered something about the salsa. A few minutes later she returned with more. As I said, food was fine (Asada Taco plate)... but service during and especially after the meal was slow. I was clearly done eating for quite a while and the waitress never returned even though she was at the front counter not doing anything. Eventually the man with the headset spotted me and came over and I asked for the check. She finally came over with it and took payment. Overall, ok but I felt like service was just an afterthought.
