So gooood!! They have the typical fruity flavors, but they also have some cool stuff like green tea, thai tea and coffee. Their menu has suggestions for popular combinations, but you can also build your own. I used to work at a Hawaiian shave ice shop and knew exactly what I wanted. I got melona, guava, and blue Hawaii (coconut & vanilla) with ice cream in the middle and haupia snow cap (coconut condensed milk on top). It did not disappoint! The ice was very soft & held together very nicely. No spills at all. The shop is located on a smaller road, in a parking garage. Which is great because then you can eat your shave ice in the shade and not have it melt so fast. read more

There are so many choices for shave ice in Hawaii but I had to try Lahaina. A friend recommended it and when I saw pics of the mochi balls I was sold!! I love mochi and these balls looked legit, not pre packaged from a bag like most places. My daughter ordered a small Dreamsicle with mochi and I ordered a small with POG, pineapple and lychee. The mochi balls were perfectly chewy delights reminiscent of my mom's. The ice melted in our mouths and it was such a yummy treat. I normally don't get shave ice but had to try it and the mochi and it did not disappoint. So incredibly good, highly recommend this gem. Slightly hidden off the beaten path but worth it! read more

Get a kids size! They are huge! My mom and I split a kids size and it was more than enough. The location is practically in a parking garage and you have to be careful not to block the drive while standing in line. There are a ton of flavor options and combinations. We had a wonderful quality dessert at Lahaina! We made it there about 10 minutes before closing. The dessert artistes were super friendly and eager to answer my questions about what to get. We tried the regular size custom shave ice with matcha green tea, banana, and watermelon. The snow was SO soft and each flavor accurate and fresh, not overly syrupy. We added some unique toppings like haupia condensed milk and handmade Mochi, which were chewy coin-shaped treats that tasted great when dipped in the extra syrup. The two workers treated us to extra Mochi since they were about to close, and the elder was especially excited to tell me the younger had pounded it herself! Would definitely recommend this gem!! Street parking is difficult and I ended up jumping out while my partner waited in an nearby lot, but you can park and eat at the post office nearby. read more

A family member recommended we try Lahaina Shave Ice while in Honolulu. It is located at the exit of a parking garage so kind of hard to spot, because you're not expecting a shop to be there. Because of it's location, there is no place to sit and enjoy your ice there. So it's and order and go kinda place. The hard worker that was making our treats needed to leave before the bank closed in minutes, but he made sure he made our order perfectly and two more groups that walked up before he shut down to take care of bank business. We would have liked to have sat and talked while enjoying our shaved ice, but we were fine also walking and talking. We were glad we stopped. It was definitely yummy and worth the visit! read more

We ordered their Tutti frutti to try. I loved the passion fruit and passion fruit flavors. The pog wasn't as distinctive for me with passion, orange, and guava flavors. Their ice was soft and the syrup was really sweet with the condensed milk. It reminded me of snowcones with syrup. They gave a lot of ice for the price. read more

A shave ice place that is open kinda late! Waiola is my favorite but I think now this takes the crown as second favorite around Waikiki. My gripe with shave ice locations is you have to have it before dinner because most shave ice places close by 6PM, but at least here you have until 8PM. Parking is a bit iffy so we just decided to walk from our Airbnb. It's in an interesting location and you would probably miss it but you'll normally see a line outside. We tried the Malibu (I didn't really taste the Haupia cap, and it was pretty much pina colada + pina colada), tutti frutti, and mahalohalo. Everything was good, I'd definitely come back. They have so many different signature creations with super cute names too. read more

The three gals that work there aren't too bright. Rude at best. The quality of ice is not as good as the the one founds two blocks over at Haleiwa town shaved ice. The syrup here has an off artificial taste too it. The ice melts and not fluffed. read more

Delicious hawaiian shaved ice! This place is tucked by a parking lot spot (looks like where a ticket booth office would be). Out of the other options for shaved ice, I chose this one because it offered lychee flavor instead of lychee MINT. You can get a small "keiki" or a larger size, but the small is pretty big and you can still get 3 flavors on there. I recommend getting the mochi and condensed milk because they were a perfect combo. The mochi was the right texture and the condensed milk they used is super thick which adds both sweetness and a little extra texture. No seating but it is right near the Royal Hawaiian Center so you can probably enjoy your treat there. read more

Lahaina shaved ice was underwhelming after having Island Shaved Ice. Although the portion size was larger, my orange creamsicle flavor didn't taste like a creamsicle; it consisted of ice and orange syrup. The syrup fell to the bottom and the only part making this shaved ice sweet was the condensed milk which was drizzled only on the top. The shaved ice was also melting quicker than the other spots which left us with a pool of artificial sweetener. I wasn't a huge fan and consider this shaved ice joint a pass. read more

A great place to grab some shave ice! This place is very unassuming, sharing a spot with a small parking lot/garage. The service was very quick and efficient, and there are tons of flavors to choose from. I got the lilikoi, mango, and guava with condensed milk keiki size, and it was HUGE. I could hardly finish it! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD SO GOOD OMG. We ordered the matcha and the tropical punch and we sat on the curb and devoured it immediately. Staff was friendly and patient and service was prompt. Portions were very generous. The location was a little bit strange because it was like in a parking garage but that's ok. I'm gonna be thinking about this shaved ice every night for months. We kind of made a mess and the spoons were wood and the paper straws started melting but we would go here again in a heartbeat HIGHLY recommend oh my god. I'm not aware of any seating for this shaved ice store. The ordering window is next to a driveway so you need to stay close to the wall to not block the cars. Ordered a keiki (kid) sized mahalohalo. The red bean was smeared on the bottom of the bowl and there were 5 pieces of mochi around the shaved ice. The ube and condensed milk combination made the dessert savory. Gotta love Lahaina shaved ice! We were in Hawaii for 5 days, and went there every day!! We also tried other locations during our trip, and it just didn't compare. The portions are great for one or to share, and they have a large selection of flavors. They also have a Signature Creations menu that provides many recommended flavor combos, which comes in handy if you're ever feeling overwhelmed by the options. My husband and I tried the Tutti Fruitti, Reggaton, Tropical Punch (swapped the Hawaiian Punch for POG), & Starburst - all were amazing!! Staff was really nice and patient. Having a 6 year old decide flavors when there's 20 different kids is a long process but the staff was happy to help her. The ice doesn't melt so much like others & the syrups are so tasteful. It's located on the corner of a parking garage. There are no tables or chairs to sit on while you snack but the area the employees are in is super colorful and fun. I do like the font of their banners and menu. read more

This is a small place off Beach Walk adjacent to a parking area. We waited in line for a bit but it was worth the wait. We ordered the Malibu, which for coconut lovers was amazing and so good! The staff were great and kept things moving. I love how all the materials they use are biodegradable and the price point was good. Would definitely come back for more! read more

this is probably the best Hawaiian shaved ice I've ever had!! I chose my own flavors- mango, lilikoi, guava. I also added ice cream, condensed milk, and mochi. The ice wasn't too chunky and the syrup was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I would definitely recommend getting their homemade mochi. They were sooo good! A little bigger than mochi typically is, and it tasted kind of like bilo bilo (if you're Filipino you know what I'm talking about). just go here, trust me it's so good! read more

Local shaved ice spot near Embassy Suites and it's fairly new because I did not see it here the previous time I visited Hawaii back in 2014, the owner took care of us and we actually conversed about how we were both from the Bay Area and her background. This place is so so. My favorite has to be Island Vintage. Lahaina has various flavors, but I felt the ice itself wasn't as fine nor fluffy compared to other places I've tried. The milk tea flavor was interesting, but not amazing. Aside from the cheap price, nothing really stood out. Another annoying thing is the container; the ice melts too quickly, so the paper bowl disintegrates sooo quickly, which overall lowered my experience. Truthfully, I would spend my money, time and calories at other shave ice spots. read more

I had been hearing about how I had to try shaved ice while in Hawaii so on my last day, I decided to head over to Lahaina Shave Ice to get some to try. It was DELICIOUS. I was skeptical thinking it was going to be like Sno-Cones (which I can't stand) but it was so much better. The ice was really light and fluffy almost, there was so much flavor and the condensed milk on top really added to it. I loved having the mochi for a different texture too! The only downside to this spot is that there was really nowhere to sit. This shave ice was not the powder soft shaved ice that I love from other popular Hawaii spots. It is just like any other shaved ice in the mainland, with super sweet syrup. These are humongous, packed in a tiny bowl, so prepare for some possible mess. The service was fine. But, their order window is facing a narrow driveway into the apartment. So, when cars are driving through, it is unsafe for all the people hovering around there to order. Love Waiola Shaved Ice. Hole in the wall shaved ice place in downtown Waikiki a small shave ice is $6.50 and a large tall one is $7.50 added on toppings are about $.50 to a dollar each different unique flavors however the ice wasn't as good as I thought and it didn't melt in your mouth. The flavors were really strong and put into a pretty small bowl for a large where it overflowed. Average spot. read more

You guys. This is the spot!!!!!! I so wish I could give 100 stars to this shave ice place. For context I've eaten shave ice everyday I've been in Hawaii (Maui and Oahu). My favorite in Maui was Uluani's. And Lahaina Shave Ice was so much better. Don't get me wrong, I think Uluanis is still amazing and it would still be my go to when I'm in Maui - but the ice texture and syrup at Lahaina are something else. I tried their signature combos like tropical punch and tutti-frutti. Ugh. Amazing. I don't care how many brain freezes I get I just end up inhaling my shave ice every time. Also, the keiki size is still humongous. What you get for the price is pretty amazing. Just go!!! read more

One of Waikiki's best kept secrets!! Omg their shave ice is so good! Walking by, no one was outside but my fiancée & I decided to stop by because we'd had a terrible shave ice experience. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The lady was so nice, so chill & naturally conversational. I really wish we found out about this place sooner but we stopped in our last day on the island. Since Hawaii now has a special place on our hearts, whenever we visit Honolulu we'll be sure to drive to Waikiki for their shave ice. read more

Ice, ice baby! The kids size is HUGE! The line was pretty long when we got there (around 3p on a Saturday) but at least you are in the shade and the line moves quickly. The two employees working had sweet smiles and personalities:) I got lihing mui, coconut and banana flavors with fresh mochi on top. It was delicious! Not too sweet! Just right. I do want to try their milk tea shave ice flavors! I'll have to come back. No where to sit and enjoy your treat. We just walked around Waikiki with ours. read more

We came in for shave ice on Christmas during heavy rain. Very cute little place. You can pick up to 3 different flavors and all toppings are extra. They were out of red bean sadly, but the shaved ice was good. Plenty of options. They had watermelon, my favorite! They also have sandwiches, masubi and rice bowls for sale. We stayed late, because of the rain and because we were trying to work out the details while receiving news of our cancelled luau plans for the evening. The owner was so nice, came out and gave us 3 bags of cookies and said merry Christmas. So nice!! And I never would have tried these cookies (with a ball of peanut butter on the inside, like a peanut butter cup!) on my own. So thankful! We had a great experience. read more

But none the less it was delicious and I made sound choices that day and took a bite of each one right away so it was hot and fresh. We left some in the hotel and tried to eat it later, not as good. So of course we returned again multiple times to get more, just so delicious when it's hot and fresh. The line goes quick to order and then your order number is called outside also quick all the times we went. But every combination is fire! So just do it! This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. On the way back to the car we saw it again and decided to try the Strawberry Bingsu. Our party shared the bowl and loved it so much we decided to also try the Mango Bingsu. It was the perfect amount of fruits and sweetness to cool us down in the muggy afternoon weather. Good service. Clean dining area. Cute decor. Wish we had more time to try other desserts but we will definitely visit again when we're back in town!

Once they switched to their self ordering system, there is no one at the front anymore. Its not much of an issue to the younger generation, but its very easy for an older person to have issues using it.

I guess cause it was a little later after dinner time. I'm just happy we got parking so we could try Cha to Gelato Zen. The ice cream is probably the best I have ever tasted. The green tea is very creamy. There's no pieces of crystallized ice in it. I also tried the Kinako ice cream. It tasted so good. How good? I bought a pint of each to take home. Our server's name was Yuzu. She was very nice and friendly. She also told us she works next door at Aburiya Ibushi. That restaurant is on my list of places to try and eat at. If only parking were easier. There are so many good eateries on Kapahulu Ave.

I think Doc would enjoy this drink. This shop is a working bakery. Many yummy pastries displayed. Menu is posted high up above to choose from. That Tofu packed on a lot of protein and kept me full felt really energized after as well! Their bubble waffle is forever my favorite with a perfect crunchy outer and fluffy inner. That had me at the first bite. Then I tried the chocolate PB and I'm sold! The shop is tiny, and not much room to move around in, but you can watch the ladies making their magic behind the plexiglass. There are premade sets but you can also ask them to make something that isn't already wrapped. In my case, 2 of each of those PB and chocolate mochi. I was actually considering being a piggy and thinking about the other mochi in the refrigerator, but I decided to be strategic and just stick to those for this session. I decided that this is just a reason to come back and try something different the next time.
