My family and I got sat at a tiny two-top and were told we could not order alcohol unless we were on the patio. The service was prolonged, and it seemed understaffed for the number of tables they had. I got the tempura udon soup, and when it came out, it was clearly from a package. The noodles were stuck in a square shape. The poke bowls were quickly the best thing on the menu. My mom loved hers, and the fish was very fresh. While this place is in an excellent spot, I would not recommend going here if you are looking for fantastic sushi rolls. I do recommend the poke bowls! read more

After Foodlands and all the nearby grocery stores had cleaned up and taken down their poke displays, desperate for poke, I ordered ahi tuna and hamachi poke bowls from here. As I walked up through the Front street activity and through the mall like entrance my heart sank, and I was certain the food would be terrible. Thankfully, I was wrong! The ahi tuna and hamachi were both super fresh. The ahi tuna is marinated in a light soy/shoyu mixture with onions, and the hamachi is in a slightly heavy spicy sauce. Both were on perfectly cooked white sushi rice, and paired with a zingy gingery salad with avocado slices, shredded carrots, and romaine. read more

It was probably the worst place that we've had in Maui, which was disappointing. The reviews were all so ravishing and continue to be, but personally, it just didn't fulfill the sushi I'm so accustomed to. The selection was small and the place was small. But the setting was nice, especially on a warm evening where you're surrounded by art galleries and the open sky. We made a reservation around 5pm, but once we showed up, there was nobody else at the restaurant. Got seated and for us, we looked at the menu for about 20 minutes and could only decide on one official nirigi we want and order a second nirigi just because it almost seemed embarrassing to share one order between two people. The prices were absolutely marked up compared to any sushi place I've been, so personally a sticker shock on sushi was a first for myself. The fish wasn't impressive or anything extremely fresh. The unagi nigiri came with three pieces and was warm, but the rice lack taste and was over cooked and became mushy. The scallops were frozen and not fresh, too chewy. Not the place for myself and anybody that's a sushi snob. I would say go to your local Foodland and just grab fresh fish and poke there instead. read more

Interesting is the best way to describe this place. It's not a restaurant, it's tables set up in the middle of the shopping strip. So when it rains all the tables flood. Very weird when you're in the middle of eating your dinner and it's down pouring on your table... Sushi was ok, nothing to write home about, but it also wasn't horrible. read more

Really nice place. I think it really deserves 4 stars but doesn't quiet make it to 5. We live in San Francisco Bay Area where we are spoiled by many different good sushi places. We love sushi, so we've been to really good sushi places before and can tell the difference between good sushi and not so good. So back to Lahaina Sushi Co. This place has good sushi, good friendly staff and nice decor. The interior is very well done and they deserve 5 stars for that. The service at the beginning and at the end of our time at the restaurant was also great and they deserve 5 stars for that as well. What was lacking was the service in the middle. Nobody came to check up on us after the food arrived. I wanted more green tea, but there was nobody around to ask for it so I said forget it. We noticed that similar service issues were happening around us. At one table, they didn't get a couple of items that they ordered and at another table the guy also didn't get the tea he wanted. I think all of that is because nobody checks on you from the time the food is placed on the table to the time you are done eating and ready to leave. As far as the food, I would give it about 4.5. Everything was good, but about as good as we have back home for much less $$. I was expecting more from a place that has access to super fresh seafood. Maybe my expectations were too high, but still the food was really good. We were really impressed with miso soup. We could tell that it was made from scratch and very few sushi places do that. Green salad was good and I loved the dressing. Sushi - surprisingly we loved the cheapest rolls the most. We ordered Volcano roll and a few other expensive rolls. They were good but not wow. We also ordered California Roll and I thought it was lacking flavor. However, we were really impressed with their Manhattan Roll and another roll I can't remember the name (Fish something).
