It came with two eggs, two bacon, a biscuit and gravy and I added a side of hash browns. It was all very tasty, until I slid the hash browns onto the other plate and saw all the grease. It was a bit to much for me. I was taken care of by Patricia and she was wonderful. It was a great local diner as everyone knew everyone. I had salad, broccoli, cabbage and open faced meatloaf. I didn't want any gravy on the meatloaf. The service was very good. My order was taken right away. I had the salad first while waiting on the meal plate. The salad was big and very good. When the hot foods arrived, I had the meatloaf first...I had been craving a good meatloaf all week. This was not it. I think it didn't taste like ground beef at all. Maybe it was meat extenders, not sure. And the herbs or spices used were strange tasting. The broccoli and cabbage were fine. We returned here for lunch last week and I ordered a roast beef & swiss sandwich. I was sorely disappointed, as it truly was tasteless. It clicked on me to update this review after having a similar sandwich this afternoon at another establishment, that was half the price and x5 better tasting (WTH?). The wife had a pancake stack and was satisfied, but I was not. Ordered the toddler a grilled cheese and fries. He poo-pooed the sandwich and I can't blame him - a single lab of American cheese that was not fully melted. He ate the fries and I had one to test out. It was just okay. The service was fine, but the meal was a total disappointment (for me and the wee one). We will be back, but it could be awhile. but unknown if for anything other than breakfast. It would be very hard to screw up breakfast foods, but it can happen. Stopped in while doing some business in the area. It was a bit quiet (snowbirds gone) for our two tops, so we had plenty of inside/outside seating choices. The waitress was very quick to offer coffee and some recommendations. The locals sitting about were also very friendly. This was our lunch stop as we headed to Savannah. I was looking for a casual, local vibe and this restaurant was it. They had a lovely outdoor patio. The weather was cool but sun was warm so it was a great spot. I decided to keep it light and chose the Greek salad with dressing on the side. The salad was good. Lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, and kalamata olives. It also came with a side of pita bread which was served warm. Very good. Husband had the same but with grilled chicken. What a nice meal! The diner is very cute with indoor/outdoor seating. We sat outside, not too hot this time of year. I had the turkey club with sweet potato fries. Yummy and nicely presented! The waitresses were fast & friendly, and we sat down quickly. Definitely a local spot in Lake Alfred. We have eaten here before and food was ok, but this time not as good. I had the grilled chicken salad, and my wife had the Cuban sandwich. The chicken in my salad was not very good and not good pieces. My wife said that the Cuban sandwich was not very good also. Before stopping here, I didn't even know Lake Alfred was a thing. But, Kid had a field trip in Haines City and we passed through here on the way home. And we were hungry. It's a "seat yourself" kind of place and we were able to find a place easily, even given that they were pretty darn busy. There's plenty of seating outside and a pretty large patio. Our server came quickly, took our orders and brought our food out in no time. Husband ordered biscuits and gravy with bacon and eggs. Everything was really good. He's picky about his gravy but really liked it here! Kid got the kids spaghetti and meatball. It came with a garlic toast; everything was tasty, but a lot. We brought home more than half of it. To be fair, Kid doesn't always eat much. I had the pressed Cuban (no cheese), fries and coleslaw. Coleslaw never arrived so I can't comment on that. The fries were super good. The Cuban was pretty good, too. We ended up spending less than we do for crap from McDonalds so that was a nice surprise. We were at the DMV all morning to afternoon. Starving after not eating we stopped in we were greeted by a nice lady I'm sure she was a server. The place was pretty empty. It looked like the ladies were busy with side work.so I asked what time do you close I was told 5 minutes ago. But don't worry you'll be fine the will get your order up right away and we have lots of work to get us ready for tomorrow. We ordered and the other customers were involved in our conversation. We got our meals and everything we ordered was perfect. Hot and you would not know they want to finish and go home. The meals were wonderful. The service was great. The floors, tables and ceiling vents were all clean and well maintained, the back grease area and trash spot were clean and well kept. We always drive around the back of a restaurant when thinking about trying a new place. We found this place to be what we want all places to be. Try and see. This is a quaint little place that was once a Hardee's. My grandmother lives in Lake Alfred and this is one of the available dining options so we thought we would give it a try. First, please note, if you have seafood allergies you can't eat any of the fried food because they don't have a dedicated fryer. Seafood, chicken, fries, corn nuggets, sweet potato fries, they all go in the same fryer. So, my grandmother just got back into town yesterday so I went here for dinner with her, my aunt, uncle, cousin, etc. According to my cousin they have the best coleslaw he's ever eaten. I am not a fan of coleslaw, so I'll take his word for it. My mother said that their Ranch dressing is out of this world. It is homemade. I had spaghetti and meatballs, which were good. It wasn't exceptional, but not bad in anyway. The sauce was a bit tangy for me. The portion was a good size and it came with a side and a soup/salad. I had corn nuggets, a total guilty pleasure for me and again, they were good, but not the best I'd ever had. I chose the potato soup for my starter and it was decent, but a bit on the salty side. My grandmother loved her roast beef. Service was excellent and our waitress kept all of our drinks filled. Verdict, a solid option if you are in the Lake Alfred area. read more

We stopped in for lunch on a friday.It is always busy but we did find a table,dinning inside or outside is offered. The menu has quite a selection,from appetizers to sandwiches,to full dinners.
