I'm not sure what's up with this dental office now, but Anna is weirdly unfriendly all of a sudden. I can only guess that my review pointing out the lack of a mask sometime during my last visit may have changed their tune with me. I changed insurance providers and told them my new insurer. Even after proving who I'm insured with, it was almost like she wanted me to cancel my appointment altogether. I have no control over the insurer going through a name change. The policy number should have been enough to check. She was short. She was snippy. And it gave me a bad vibe. I don't want to feel uncomfortable around ANY place where drills are going into my mouth. I'll find a new dentist in the new year. read more

Queen Chicken here reporting on an excellent dentist visit. Loved my former dentist but that's an 80 mile round trip event! My son referred us to his dentist and Steve, you hit it out of the park! I would give this office a zero if I could. The office staff are absolutely useless. Due to an issue at my insurance company I was not transferred to this office when i should have been. After I called to make an appointment the office staff called my insurance company to verify benefits. They were told I was not on their patient roster at which point they called and left me a message. I fixed the issue with my insurance company and when I called back they refused to accept the info from me. My insurance company called them and they would not accept the info from them either. They told the insurance company they have to wait until they receive the official list from the insurance company even though they were on the phone with the insurance company. They refused to book an appointment for me until they received the roster from the insurance company. Between myself and my husband they have now lost out on $5,000 or so of work because they cannot think out of their minuscule box. I am going elsewhere. Who wants to deal with people that can't think? read more

I was almost deterred by preceding review. Glad I looked past the one-star review to the trivial, histrionic complaints in that review. I could care less if receptionist was uncordial or dentist fails to introduce himself. I found Dr. Sawyer to be both highly professional and skilled. I preferred that it was he who cleaned my teeth since it entailed a thorough examination. If he doesn't want to employ a hygienist, that's his prerogative. Preceding review also claimed he was less than gentle. Not with me. Then again, I know how to operate a brush and floss and get regular cleanings. I think it is reckless and ignorant to pan a business with one-star and jeopardize someone's reputation and livelihood. read more

Ignore the one star reviews. Some didn't even get service! Dumb people who don't deserve to be on Yelp. Or on the Internet. Dr. Mark Sawyer is excellent as a doctor and a person. I have known him for many years and have been going to him for everything. Recently, he and his hygienist Katie treated my bad gums. I was worried about the procedure, but it went through without a hitch. I'm going back in several weeks for the second cleaning. He also gave me great advice on my broken retainer and gave me the proper next steps. I love the text reminders and the office staff is super friendly. Easy choice for dentist. I got Mark Sawyer, DDS from my insurance company. I really just picked from a list. I have not been to a dentist in over 3 years. My wisdom tooth was impacted and i thought it needed to be pulled, lots of pain. He saw me that day and was so nice. I have never had novocaine so i was really scared. He was so slick. I didn't even see the needle. The pulling of the tooth was over before i knew it and it didn't hurt a bit! I scheduled an appointment for a cleaning and exam before i left. We have been a longtime patient of Dr. Sawyer's for at least 12 years I have no complaint about his Skills. I had multiple problem with the front office the person that has tattoo , her name is Elizabeth We took our six-year-old kid for cleaning he was crying and he was afraid of the dentist I told the front desk that my wife needs to go with him, The girl in the front desk said no you can't I said yes my wife is going to go in with him she said no no one's going to go and this is our rule you don't like it take your kid take your wife take your other kid get out of my office this is my job this is my business this is how I run it, you don't like it get the hell out, she started screaming and yelling at us and arguing for 15 minutes This woman doesn't know how to run office job or the business Dr. Sawyer needs to do something about this I am not the only one complaining about this lady there's other people are complaining as well such a rude person I would never go back out there and I don't recommend for others to go there read more

I had used Dr Sawyer in the past for cleanings. But recently was very disappointed when I went in with a bad tooth. After having X-rayed my tooth he said he couldn't do anything and was sending me to a specialist. I had asked exactly what was going to be done and the only answer I got was I going to a specialist. He sent me home with an X-ray to take to the "Specialist." My fiance' who worked for many years as a dental tech. Took a look at the X-ray and could see the tooth was cracked. She asked me if he was sending me for a root canal? Also said based on that X-ray she was surprised he didn't offer extraction as an option. I had no clue since he never really told me that just said I was seeing a specialist. After I made a phone call I found it was in fact a root canal. And that they would be charging me even just take a look at it. And he would be the one putting in the crown. I might add the cost of root canal and extraction are a significant cost difference. At that point I contacted a good friend of mine that is a dentist in another state, They also recommended I get it pulled. Considering it was a back molar not really big deal. When I called Dr Sawyer to consult with him about this. His receptionist assured me he would be calling me back. She called me and he said it was my choice I wanted to do. 20 minutes later I received another call from Dr Sawyers receptionist about scheduling a cleaning next month. For after when I got my tooth pulled. Unbelievable and confirmed to me they were only profit motivated and not looking out for my best interests. So when I ended up getting the tooth extracted. The oral surgeon showed me the crack in the tooth as well. And said a root canal would not have worked. Had I listened to Dr Sawyer I would have wasted time and money visiting the "specialist as he said" Or worse yet would have been talked into a costly implant. I am extremely disappointed and can't believe even my fiance' was able to tell me this but not Dr Sawyer. As far as the other 2 great reviews I would note they all live outside of Illinois. read more

I just moved to Chicago a few months ago and was hesitant to find a new dentist. I went in today for a cleaning and immediately felt comfortable at this office. The front desk lady was very kind and friendly, along with the hygienist Katie who helped me with tips on flossing and cleaning my teeth. I have been a longtime patient of Dr Sawyer for at least 10 years. I have no complaint about his skills as a dentist as he has been thorough and pleasant. I have had multiple problems with his front office staff, particularly the tattooed woman named Elizabeth. When I had a question about my bill she was uncooperative and refused to discuss my bill. Elizabeth's behavior was extremely rude and insulting and implied that I was refusing to pay my bill. She even said to me "Don't come to this clinic anymore". I was sent a bill demanding full payment & with a notation threatening to send my bill to collection for non-payment.Upon further research of my bill at home with my wife we discovered that I had been billed the full amount for services instead of my insurance's negotiated fee. We even had to call our insurance company which had to intervene to get proper billing. We were being billed about 3x the amount of what we should have been billed. My final bill had the same issue - being over billed. This time Elizabeth was even uncooperative and rude with the insurance representative ! This woman either does not know her job or something shady is going on - pocketing the money perhaps?? Either way, she is ruining his business with her poor character and unprofessional behavior. Unfortunately, Dr Sawyer has lost a long term client because of this woman as these issues have been extremely upsetting to me and I cannot stomach the thought of having to encounter her again. read more

Left a voicemail and did the request appointment through the website and no follow up. I was impressed by all the positive reviews he had, and was looking for a new dentist, but if I can't get ever get ahold of anyone, and don't get a call back, that's an issue. read more

I saw Dr. Sawyer for an emergency dental procedure today. I was very pleased with the service I received. Dr. Sawyer was thorough and professional and, along with the emergency procedure, thoroughly cleaned my teeth. Unlike my experience with my previous dentist, I did not feel rushed. Where my previous dentist recommended a dental implant for a tooth, Dr. Sawyer said that all I needed was a new crown. I went home after my appointment and called my insurance company to change my dental provider to Dr. Sawyer. read more

I had a bad experience with the office in Glenview. My appointment was on a Monday at 5:00. I arrived there at 4:25 and the office was closed. I waited for 15 minutes then I called and left a message stating that I was there for my 5:00 appointment. I waited there until 5:10 then I left the building. The dentist called me at 5:20 telling me that he couldn't be there for personal reasons. I wish someone at the office would have called me to warn me that the dentist wasn't there before I drove there on a rainy and foggy day. I called back in a few days and I told the receptionist that I did not want to do business with a place like that. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! read more
