Been eating here on occasions for many years. They have changed management. Just had the worse BLT I have ever had, bacon greasy and not done, avocado was a a few tiny thick strips. The waitresses were very nice, each of them pitching in to help. It was busy, but not so busy that it warranted a 20+ minute wait for our food. My daughter ordered a cheeseburger and I had sunny side up eggs. The food was good, but not exceptional. The coffee was very good. I was told the long wait was because we ordered my girl's burger "well done". Heeeellloooo? Really? Their prices are reasonable and it has a "diner" feel to it, but don't compare it to a NY diner. Beyond pleased with this gem! Fresh hot homemade dinner rolls the size of your fist. Crispy juicy chicken fried stake, delicious french toast, the meatloaf was amazing as well. Happy Easter Everyone!! When my wife and I first moved to Lakeside we went to Lakeside Cafe a lot. So much so the we kinda burned out on it a had to take a break from it. We did not go to Lakeside Cafe for about 4 months or so. We went back a couple of times recently. I don't know what happened in the time we did not eat here but the place sure has gone down hill. The food quality is not what it used to be and the staff has totally changed. On our most recent trip our server all but disappeared on us. I hope they get things turned around. There just aren't that many family friendly places to eat in Lakeside outside of fast food and taco shops. Maybe Chef Ramsay can go in there and kick some ass. lol read more

Food was good. There was a lot of it. A little pricy. Restaurant itself was dirty. There were sticky towel marks on the tables and seats like they cleaned with a maple syrup towel. The air conditioner kicked on every 10 minutes and dropped the temp to freezing temps, then it would turn off and be stuffy. Our waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name, was rude and in a hurry even though there was only one other couple sitting in her station. Seemed like we were unconvincing her by being there. We left her the money for the bill and the minimum tip she deserved and before we completely stood up she pushed passed us to grab it. Very awkward. Probably wont go back to this location. Here's the part where this place's wings get clipped: I had a Coke with my breakfast - because I am a scoundrel - and the pop was flatter than prairie land. Came in on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away, however, a bit awkward. The hostess sat us next to another table, close enough to reach over to their side, while the rest of the room was empty. Our waitress was wonderful - very friendly and upbeat. She catered to our every needs.Our order came out very quickly and everything was true to what the menu listed. The Monte Cristo was not battered or deep fried (like how it's typically made). This is a great place to go to take a BIG appetite! The portions are large. The salads are crispy, fresh, delicious, and a meal in themselves, add a hot dinner roll the size of three normal ones, and smelling of yeast, yummm! My husband said the clam chowder was great. We have ordered, fish and chips, chicken fried steak, fried chicken, the double burger, meat loaf and the tuna melt, and I have to say that everything has been just wonderful except for one time the fish was a bit greasy. This is the best restaurant in town. Everyone is friendly and they have the best service. The food is better than other places that cost alot more. This is the best all around. There are some bad reviews about this place but that is only because people pretend to act like kings and queens when go out and they think restaurant personnal has nothing to do but wait on only them and they have no patience. What? Quality was good, but quantity reflects new ownership. Less food for a higher price. This place has surely changed. Chicken fried steak was cooked properly and the gravey was top notch. Problem? The steak is about a 1/4 smaller than it used to be and about a buck and a half more than it used to be. Although the place was about half full, service that day was quite slow. Maybe it was an off day for the waitress, who was pleasant, but seemed preoccupied. That happens to us all, but in a service environment it's a little put offish. I wouldn't say don't go there because everyone has their own opinions, but at this time, I can't honestly recommend it. There are so many other places to try. My family and I visited Lakeside Cafe on a Sunday. It was pretty busy, but we were seated within minutes of being in the restaurant. Our waitress was nice and she made sure we were taken care of, I had the liver and onions, and it was delicious. My husband had the spaghetti and it was enough for two people. It is a very family friendly restaurant and the kid was entertained by the TVs. Since I live close by, I'm sure that I'll be going to Lakeside Cafe often. read more
