Came for our company's holiday party, and glad I left earlier than our start time because parking was very limited. The lot is very small so for a large event carpooling or valet is highly recommended. The venue itself has an old world charm to it with beautiful views of the golf course and lake. We were downstairs which provided ample natural light. The food was good and lol served hors d'oeuvres style. There was also a cash bar and thankfully they also accepted credit card. I ate there last night with my family and the food was not good at all. Fried Calamari was very very salty and cold and the marinara sauce was terrible. We couldn't even use it to dip the calamari in. My son and husband both had filet mignon and neither of them ate it. Mashed potatoes were cold as well. I had the mussels appetizer special as my appetizer and that was not even warm. It tasted good while I was eating it but my stomach has been sick since I got home last night and I'm still having digestive issues. Service was mediocre except for the hostess. We didn't complain but I feel like the server should have noticed that no one ate their food. I was very surprised to be this disappointed. I will never go back there. We spent $200 on a bad meal that literally made me sick. I usually don't regret eating out, but today I do! read more

We had reservations tonight for dinner and we were told that they were so busy when we got there at 6 pm. We were standing there and no one would seat us at our table so we left!! They had a bunch of kids out in the atrium for a party and it was overwhelming I guess ? Never again. Everyone was complaining! The Lakeside Grille at the Ramsey Golf and Country Club has been running specials all summer with specials from different countries. I did not go to any of them but when I read about some Oktoberfest activity it piqued my interest. The German specials are only on Thursday night in October. Apparently, they are going to change up every week. So, what you read below may not be available. We began with 2 appetizers on the specials menu. The first was Uberbackener Spinat Mit Kase (baked spinach and triple cream Pierre Robert cheese casserole. Served with toasted pretzel bread). This was probably the best thing we ate that night. When we ran out of the pretzel bread we dipped into their very good bread basket filled with homemade warm rolls and everything crunchy flat breads. The second appetizer was Blatterteig Spargel (grilled asparagus and smoked salmon in a savory puff pastry with American Sturgeon caviar hollandaise sauce) This was a very good dish too. The only problem is that they completely forgot about the salmon. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it at first. They did remove the item from the bill. Otherwise they offered no explanation and no apology. My main was the Wurst Platte (Bratwurst, Weisswurst, and Knackwurst Sausages with Homemade Sauerkraut, Whipped Potatoes and Whole Grain Mustard Cream). It was quite disappointing. I wish they had grilled the meats instead of just boiling. It makes a world of difference. I should have known better and asked for the grain mustard cream sauce on the side. A bit of brown mustard would have been much better. The red cabbage had a strange creamy texture. Unsure if it was just from the aforementioned cream sauce. Wife had the fish and chips and said they were good although slightly burnt. Service was spotty. read more

The bartenders are awesome. Five stars for them. Minus one star for tasteless Pad Thai. I know it's my fault for ordering that at this establishment, but I just couldn't resist. Still...if you are going to have a special menu and charge me $25 for a plate at least give me a little flavor. I was excited when I heard there was going to be free appetizers and beer specials for the World Cup. I'm never one to complain about FREE food, but I'm making an exception. The free appetizers consisted of Elio's frozen pizza cut into triangles. Minus one star for trying to trick me. I actually love Elio's, but really? They sell this pizza over at the pool snack stand. I just don't think it could have hurt for the chef to have made his own pizza considering there are pizettas on the appetizer menu. So my love/hate relationship with the Lakeside Grille continues. read more

We went there a few weeks ago for their Sunday Brunch Buffet and I was very impressed. They had a very good selection of breakfast, fruit, brunch and desserts that included a cooked to order egg/omelet station. But what really impressed me was that the price included unlimited Bloody Mary's and Mimosas. Additionally, they put out medium sized amounts of most hot items so that it was frequently replenished and therefore fresh. The Carrot Cake was amazing. While not cheap, given the quality, variety and bottomless drinks, I consider it the best buffet brunch in the area. read more

We just moved to the area and have already been here three times. My husband also just had his office party here. The food is delicious. We were actually really surprised at how good it is. The service is friendly and the ambiance is inviting. There's also a lack of snobbery that is refreshing being that it's in upper bergen county. Been eating at the 'Abbey' for more than 20 years, and it's still good today. It's a nicely laid out restaurant with a patio that overlooks the golf course. The food depends on the chef, but it's almost always very good, and the wait staff is friendly. More importantly, I had my wedding in the downstairs ball room here some 14 years ago, and it was a wonderful experience. Went in for a nice dinner with my girlfriend. Wasn't too sure what to expect, at all really. We weren't sure how to dress, the quality of god to expect, the atmosphere, everything was kind of up in the air. But we got there and were pleasantly surprised. I was wearing plain blue shorts and a passion red T-shirt and she was wearing a spring dress. Obviously nothing too fancy. We were right in the middle, clothing wise. Some were wearing suits and fancy dresses, others were very very casual, kids basically. We first sat down in the atrium, with a beautiful view of the golf courses. Unfortunately, to no fault of the restaurant's, the sun was beeming straight into both our eyes. Also, a table of 5 or 6 people were already well established, with several drinks in each. As a result, the sounds echoing through the room were too loud to bear and we asked to switch our table somewhere else. Without a problem, we moved and that was that. As for the dining experience, it was very good, nothing too special though. Like many places, fresh bread was served with butter. Delicious of course, but nothing out of the ordinary. For our apps, we ordered chicken spring rolls and the caprease salad. Not a fan of the salad, I stuck to the spring rolls and found them quite tasty. My girlfriend stuck with the salad and found that quite tasty as well. Neither of us being old enough to drink alcohol, I can't comment on the selection or quality of drinks, but the menu looked rather large. As for the main courses, she ordered salmon and I got the sea bass. Both were very good, but again, nothing amazing. Her salmon was covered in a type of raspberry glaze. It wasn't my favorite, but she did love it. My sea bass also had a kind of peanut sauce around the outside. The sea bass and rice with this dish were delicious, but anything that touched the peanut sauce was nearly ruined in my opinion. I'm not a fan of peanut sauce, so if you're not you may want to stay away from the sea bass, but otherwise it's a great dish. Next came dessert. I love chocolate mousse do, accordingly, I ordered the chocolate mousse cake. It was tasty, but certainly did not seem to be freshly baked. It seemed like more of a packaged food. Now I could be wrong, but I was not impressed with my mouse cake. My girlfriend ordered cheesecake, which is her favorite. She liked it very much, but again it wasn't a renowned cheesecake. So dessert was mildly disappointing, but I'll live. Overall, Lakeside Grill is above average and a great place for a date or a special get together. The food is good, but not too much more. I've only been once, so perhaps my review is skewed by that, but I don't think I will be going again anytime soon. read more

Lived in the area for so long and never went here until tonight. Sat at the bar area where mostly 50 to 70 year Olds were hanging out. A band was playing as we munched on our food. The service was handled by 2 sweet and attentive bartenders. What we ordered were really basic, but dull bar food. Supposedly, weddings at this venue are first rate. After reading the other great reviews, I was confident that our Saturday night dining experience was going to be memorable but the food was pricey and not high quality. It seemed like the "chef's culinary expertise" was based on the use of the microwave. And if by chance management is reading this review, it's time to change the reused fat in the fryer. Went with family They were very polite and the decor was what you would expect from a restaurant at a country club. Wood panels on the wall giving the place an old school feel.. started with the fried calamari. It was a nice presentation but the calamari was sooo stringy, my son nearly choked on the strands. I had to cut the calamari into small pieces and still chew it a long time to avoid these strands from choking me... I ordered the prime rib which was delicious. My son ordered the club burger. The burger was average. Not bad and not great. The beef was a bit tasteless... the way ground beef tastes when it was frozen.. the big problem was the salmon plate my daughter ordered. It was presented with a very vey sweet sauce poured over the fish. The sauce was so sweet , it rendered the fish inedible. I sent it back as they offered to bring another order with the sauce on the side. Unfortunately, I think the fish was marinated in the same sauce and over marinated. The fish was again overly sweet even without the sauce on top. In addition, the salmon was very dry and over cooked. Again, I believe the fish was sickingly sweet and inedible. Oh well... I thought I'd give this place a try but I won't go back. read more

I have been using Groupon as a way to find new places to eat for quite sometime. Last night was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. To be fair.... the service was average. But the food is horrible. Don't waste your time. Its sad because with updating and a new chef the place could well. The reason I say this is because of the grounds and being on a Golf course. One other small point, the gratuity. Usually a mandatory gratuity is placed on diners of eight and above. Normal.Here a 20 % mandatory tip is added on a party of two. Although on a normal night out I tip a minimum of twenty percent and usually more for great service. Not giving me the choice seemed unreasonable. In closing...do yourself a favor and make reservations to the Saddle River Inn and enjoy truly great food a couple of miles away! read more

Love the Lakeside Grille at Ramsey CC. Food is always great! We loved the different country themes they had over the summer. They are also very accomodating with changes. Noise level can get loud, hard to have a conversation at the table and room is always very cold, suggest you bring a jacket or sweater!! Service is always great! This is a hidden gem. I had the shrimp (they are HUGE), mashed potatoes and candied carrots, chicken noodle soup, and cheese rolls, my husband had salad, smothered Chicken, mashed potatoes, and carrots.. plus banana cream pie. EVERY ITEM is made from scratch.. no short cuts. We have camped at Palisades three times this year .. how we never tried this before is beyond me. DELICIOUS Homemade, very reasonable priced. The chef said this is how she cooks at home.. sure am glad she decided to share her talent with the rest of us! read more

I'd hate to be the first to break the news, but this place is not good and sadly disappointing. I am really feeling bad for the over 600 people who bought the Groupon. Don't be fooled by a place which looks nice on the outside (the atrium is still dated & unmatched for a remodeled place!) Let's get to it! Our waitress was friendly and nice but very very slow. With only 4 other tables in the restaurant and a bus boy to help her this is not acceptable. We ordered drinks, they came pretty much right away; however they served us a pint of beyond flat Stella. Really? Then we ordered apps (2). Our waitress disappeared for quite sometime but when the apps were ready she resurfaced. We ordered dinner (which if you dine out a lot, you know you really shouldn't place an entree order when your apps are on the table...it was a wednesday we weren't out for a 2 hour dinner). The appetizers weren't bad. The artichokes were good and a unique choice. We also ordered the calamari which was stuck together is a big clump (not sure how this even happens). After finishing those we waited and waited for dinner. Out came the flank steak (again, not bad). My swordish came along as well. The fish seemed as if it had been submerged in water before being cooked. It was probably frozen and had a mealy texture. Ugh, sad diner I was. When i tasted the gnocchi I had to go back several times to figure out what was on it. Finally I came to the conclusion that the sweet taste was actually cinnamon. Eww. Now maybe that would be good with another meal, but the swordfish was served with a sundried tomato and olive paste with garlic spinach. Flavor wise cinnamon does not pair well with this. Ok, dinner is over now. We asked for the check. We waited. We waited more. Finally I had to go up and ask her for it again. She seemed to not know how to tally the total. This was probably because she was so concerned about adding a gratuity to it that she added it wrong (by about $7, not such a big deal). Then our waitress got the manager (we are now 1 hour 40 minutes into our dining experience). To avoid a more unpleasurable experience we gladly paid the overcharged bill & the extra money for her tip (which she added in). It's unfortunate because at first we were excited about the view, the look and the menu but this impression quickly plummeted. Sorry, but we won't be back. Wet fish. Slow service. Flat beer. Stacking up the check (really?). No thank you. And for you Grouponers; we are big diners like you probably are. Isn't it a shame when a restaurant adds gratuity to your check when it's not stated in the rules? And who tips less than 20% now a days anyway? Well, I guess if a "country club" serves food this way & boasts this quality of service people would question an appropriate tip. Even though I know we won't be back I'm still hoping Lakeside Grille gets it together for the rest of the new customers awaiting their dining experience. There could be potential. Last night I made a reservation on open table to have dinner at the lakeside grille. I made the reservation at 5pm for 6:15pm slot that was available on open table. My 83 year old mother arrived first and climbed the steep stairs to the restaurant. She was told that they just saw the reservation and there was no table for us. She was offered a seat in the bar for a possible table in the atrium at 7pm. When we arrived to find my mother who had to climb down the steep staircase, my husband asked the hostess why they didn't call and tell us there was no table. Not an answer and not an apology. We have frequented this restaurant many times, but the lack of even trying to apologize or come up with a table for us was just wrong and we will not be back. read more

Nice place, new bar and restaurant, food was great.... The bar and restaurant is open to the public as I'd thought it was private as it's part of a Country Club, but I was wrong. Went on a Thurs night and saw the place packed with 30-40 somethings and they had live music too... nice alternative to crowded pubs in the area. read more

Went here for lunch the other day and it was great! Really enjoyed the tuna nicoise salad and the view from the atrium. Will return!
