I literally cannot say enough great things about Dr. Cho, as well as his staff Melinda. My son just turned two, Carter, and he is showing that he is on the spectrum. Not only did Dr. Cho and Melinda take the time to make a connection with my son; they took the time to make a connection with myself. They were reassuring, professional, and efficient. I highly recommend Lakeview Dental. Dr. Cho is very kind and welcoming, and he is a great dentist. The business also has a very charming mom&pop feel, which I greatly appreciated. I have not had a check-up in a few years. I used to work nearby, so I figured it was time and I would make an appointment and get my check-up done. To be honest, I am afraid of the dentist because I rarely have a good experience with them. So I was nervous going here. Dr. Cho is a young guy but don't let this deter you, he is very personable and very good at his job. During my checkup, he asked me when the last time I went to the dentist was. I was honest and said a few years ago. He didn't shame me, he didn't criticize me, he was very understanding! This was such a relief to me! It has been hard for me to go to a dentist for a few years because I just do not like the shame and criticism I sometimes get about my teeth. I feel like there are some things about my health that I have absolutely no control over. Usually if I go to the Doctors or a Dentist, I leave feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Dr. Cho was skilled, empathetic, up-front and honest. One of the best dentists I've been to. I admit that when I was first looking for dentists, the Yelp photos seemed dingy and the store-front itself wasn't promising - the space is actually really clean and well-kept. I needed a root canal and crown. I don't know what Dr. Cho does but it was literally the least painful experience I'd ever had! He was up-front about costs, broke down every detail I asked, and offered to take payment in increments over the course of treatment. He took his time and never rushed. Especially during the crown fitting, he wanted to make absolutely sure it fit right and was comfortable. My partner came in with a cracked tooth. Dr. Cho examined him thoroughly but didn't pressure him into any additional or unnecessary procedures. My partner did find Dr. Cho a little overly chatty, so heads up if you're not into small talk (I personally liked how he explained everything in detail, so take it all with a grain of salt.) read more

My dental discount "insurance" is awful. I have very few dental offices to choose from and when I did research into dentists who accept my discount the reviews were pretty bad. I read a few positive reviews of Dr. Cho, so I gave Lakeview Dental a try. The office is a bit dingy, it could definitely use a make over. Dr. Cho himself is kind and chatty, but his strength is his honest professional approach. He was very upfront about the costs of my visit. I went in thinking I needed cavities filled. It would have been very easy for Dr. Cho to tell me I had so many cavities I needed to fix, but he did not. He was very honest and straight forward. I never felt taken advantage of, and I left after paying only $30 for my visit, x-rays, and cleaning. This past week my husband woke up with searing tooth pain. He hadn't been to a dentist for the entire time I've known him, so we were sure a tooth was about to rot right out of his head. I called frantically on a Monday night and left a message begging for an appt for my husband. I was really worried because he is only in the city office Tuesdays and Thursdays (a downside if you have no car and an emergency toothache) Tuesday at 8:30am he called us and scheduled an appt for 11:15am on his lunch break. I was so relieved and when my husband went in he ended up having a sinus infection, not a toothache, and Dr. Cho rightfully prescribed him antibiotics to take care of his pain. Again, he could have ordered up a root canal for all we knew and charged us thousands of dollars and we would not have known. Now we both have clean teeth and a dentist we can actually trust. I recommend Lakeview Dental. The only flaw is the Tuesday and Thursday ONLY hours. read more

Dr. Cho is a trip. This is not the fanciest dental office I have ever been to, but they accept my insurance, are reasonably priced and the dentist is crazy entertaining. He probably talks more than most and it may be hard to shut him up at times, but I find that puts me at ease. He likes to talk about family, always remembers details about your last visit, friendly guy. Also, you know, my teeth are clean when I leave. FYI, street parking only and you have to be buzzed in which is kind of weird. The only reason I take off 2 stars is that they are only open 2 days a week. He is very informative and takes his time. Having lost my former employer's dental coverage, I have a dental plan that entitles me to obtain services at a discount. When I researched other dentists who accept my plan, I found that their charges were significantly higher than Dr. Cho's rates for the same services. He did exceptional work on my teeth and is really thorough. Even if you have employer-sponsored insurance, it usually comes with maximum annual limits and high out-of-pocket costs. I don't know why anyone would want to go to other dentists who charge so much more. I highly recommend Dr. Cho. You can save money and get great dental work. read more

Dr. Cho is the best dentist I have ever seen! I have alot of anxiety at the dentist due to childhood trauma, I almost always end up crying or having a panic attack while receiving treatment. I also have had several back surgeries and dental chairs can be a challenge. Dr. Cho makes sure I am comfortable, he explains everything he is doing so I know what is going on and what to expect and makes sure I never experience any pain. Due to his compassion I no longer fear my appointments and look forward to going to the office. I know Dr. Cho means well, but this place is FILTHY! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CAN!! The floors haven't been swept or mopped in a long time. There are lots of weird brown stains on the wall and oily dirt marks over the light switches. The place smells like an old moldy kitchen and is fairly low lit. Anyone who's been to a professional dentist before will definitely notice the difference. The receptionist was nice and all but the place needs some serious work before I can take it seriously. I seriously doubt anything is sterile in there. I mean there's like piles of dirt and grit running along the base board.. So I know what you're thinking.. just don't look at it.. SO I looked up.. I switched to a cheaper dental plan and there are not many choices so I went to Dr. Cho based on the 2 favorable reviews. I enjoyed my visit and felt that he did a great job explaining every thing, from the procedure to the billing. If you need a convenient spot in the city that provides exceptional dental service, then you need to visit Dr.Eddie. The entire process was great. Before going, I had the chance to give the clinic a call so that when I arrived, most of the paperwork pertaining to my insurance had already been filled out. There was little left for me to do which was great. Unlike other dentists who are rough with your teeth and don't care about your comfort, Dr.Eddie was refreshingly patient centered in his cleaning process. His examination was also very thorough. We began with taking a few oral x-rays to monitor some impacted wisdom teeth before proceeding to general cleaning. Aside from general statements about how to care for your teeth, Dr.Eddie gave some basic yet effective tips for oral care such as brushing your bottom front teeth vertically rather than horizontally to avoid calcium build-ups ... who knew! Upon leaving, the assistant was kind enough to set up a tentative date 6 months later for the next cleaning and promised to send a reminder since I always forget. If zero stars were possible that's what Dr. Cho's office would get. Sure, he seems like a perfectly nice man with perfectly good intentions but this place is DISGUSTING! The other reviews go very easy on the "fancy-ness" of this dentist office but the place is absolutely, positively the most disgusting "dentist" office I've ever been in. I only went to Dr. Cho because my previous dentist had dropped off my insurance plan so my insurance selected another dentist for me automatically. A week after this new selection I hadn't had time to change it and had an accident at work and had to go see a dentist immediately to check on a tooth. I appreciated the fact that Dr. Cho was willing to squeeze me in during his lunch break but once I arrived I came to realize that he was probably just desperate for more clients because I can't imagine many people seriously go to him... Upon walking in Dr. Cho's office smells like a vet's office... the linoleum is discolored and peeling and the ceiling tiles are discolored and falling apart as well. I was SHOCKED that this was actually a functioning dentist's office. THEN I found myself in the dental chair in the examination room where things only got worse. The equipment looked outdated and (surprise!) discolored... GROSS! There was junk everywhere piled up on tables and there was a closet with the door wide open with TONS of crap EVERYWHERE! I knew I needed to get out of there ASAP! Dr. Cho gave me a prescription to fight the possibility of any infection and took some x-rays but apparently his machine wasn't capable of the type of x-ray needed to really evaluate my situation. He then told me to take the medicine for 10 days and then come back to see him and then maybe he'd send me to an oral surgeon. Absolutely not. I had him refer me to an oral surgeon immediately because there was no way I was going back to that place. Needless to say I've officially selected another dentist to take care of my future dental needs and would not recommend Dr. Cho to anyone! He's a super nice guy but there is no way I'd let him do anything to my teeth... never... ever... ever read more

My name is Vincent Kaczmar I live in Michigan City, In. I met Dr E. Cho because My job transferred me out to Lyle IL. At first I just thought he was a nice person. After a couple of visits I knew of the quality of his work. I retired. For 15 years I now travel about 80 miles one way to have Dr Cho do all my dental work. He does not load up his office appointments. The only time I had to wait is because I arrived early. We do talk a lot before he starts to work on me. I like it because, It relaxes me. I only hate shots more that dental work. If I am a bit distressed. He will stop and wait for me to calm down. Which in his chair is a rare occasion. I give very high marks to Dr Cho's quality of work and his Creditably. I prefer Quality over a Hollywood glamour. His office is neat, attractive, and bright. read more

Dr. Cho is indeed very kind and very talkative, as the other reviewers have said. I have one of the cheapest dental plans ever from my current job. Since my teeth are still in relatively good shape, I'm not too worried. Dr. Cho did not waste my time or money with X-rays, since I had had some taken by my previous dentist earlier this year. He took a good look at my teeth and then briefly polished them off. It was probably the quickest dental exam I've ever had. It seemed a bit janky but, given that I don't love going to the dentist, it worked for me. I will be sure to take extra care of my teeth now that I don't get the full treatment I'm used to, but Dr. Cho seemed honest and helpful so I will continue to go back! read more

I called this office prior to becoming a patient to find out if there were any restrictions, such as days on which cleanings are not performed. I was told that cleanings and visits can be had at any time. I was also told it takes between two and three weeks to get a scheduled appt. So I called to make an appt and found the office to be closed for two weeks. I called after that period and was told I could only get an appt before 3:00 and that it would be more than three weeks before I could get in. The dentist raised his voice and told me not to quote his "girl" about appointment availability. I then asked if I could take the first available in the next two weeks. He laughed at me and then became further agitated. I abruptly ended the call and began looking for a new dentist. Helpful advice: If your "office girl" provides incorrect information, apologize and move on. Don't raise your voice or laugh condescendingly. read more

Dr Cho became my dentist when he was a last year student at Northwestern University and I went to the dental school to find a doctor that could deal with my problem. I very soon realized that this Doctor understood my situation and started treating me in a very satisfactory way and considered my fears and desires. I believe that with his skills and experience he can treat almost any dental problem. Besides being very skilled he is very honest and frank with you. He is a Doctor that explain very frankly to you what the problem is and what the possible solutions and costs are. He also listen to you, your needs and opinions about your situation...Finally all what I will say is that after more than twenty five years of being Dr. Cho patient, he has taken very good care of my teeth and I can say is that I do not have any regrets...People complaint that the office is simple and not luxurious and that he does not use an dental assistant. This is the worst dentist office I have ever seen! My boyfriend went in for a cleaning and I only had to wait in the waiting room (which was totally filthy)... I wouldn't even take a dog here to get a cleaning, the actual office had cobwebs and dust everywhere and he didnt even use a protective vest when he took my boyfriends x-rays.
