    The entrance

Service was good but the food had no punch or pizzazz as I have had the Laksa and Hainan chicken in Malaysia ,,,, maybe better for Non Asians ... noticed that although it was full at lunch time , it was all non Asians ... parking was terrible with the construction. Ambience was more a 50's Diner out of Happy Days without Potsy, Arnold , Richie or the Fonz ... a twist of Asian Fusion ????

Came here since we are both craving laksa, it looks like a diner with all the decorations and booths but it's serving authentic laksa and other dishes. I got one with less spice and rice noodle, it's very delicious, full of flavors. I enjoyed the chicken so much, I think they marinade it beforehand which gives it elevated flavors. They also have a noodle dish that's limited to weekends called kyay oh, I will try that next time. Service is pretty fast.

If you're looking for authentic, affordable, and rich tasting laksa in Vancouver, look no further than Laksa King! The food was prepared quickly and tasted exceptionally great.

Always lives up to its namesake. Nothing like it on a shitty rainy Saturday. Very pleasant welcoming staff, prompt service. What's not to love. Unless, of course if you are an "elite" from south of the border. As Bourdain said: "The bane of the internet ".

Adding to my previous review... I came here again as this place is perfect - convenient for me, inexpensive and good. Roti canai as usual is very flaky and just an absolute favorite in my family. We ordered beef Rendang and Laksa and both are excellent. I think I prefer the vermicelli to the egg noodle but that's just personal preference. Laksa has great flavour. I split with my son but wouldn't have minded having it all to myself! Def one of my favorite Malaysian places.

Tried the mohingar, roti canai ($14 for 2) and skewers. The skewers were good (almost $4 each) which is rather expensive. Overall it was ok. The roti was fluffy but very small, the skewers were marinated nicely and was tender but the Mohingar was a let down. Although flavoursome it lacked protein (only 1 hard boiled egg). There's fish in it but fried and cooked to smithereens in the broth to a consistency of a smoothie. I had asked for additional meat on the side and the waitress said it's not recommended as it's a fish broth. It's a very small restaurant with even smaller booths. A tight squeeze to eat with 4 people in a booth.

This is maybe the 4th or 5th time I've been here! I think their laksa is the best I've had in recent years in the city. The broth is tasty, spicy (but not too much), and has a good curry flavour. I opted for the mixed noodles (egg and vermicelli) and I liked the texture blending. I especially liked the tofu puffs soaking in the broth, and the large shrimps! A perfect dish for me, for this wintery season. Service is very quick and attentive! They accept credit card now (not just debit or cash), which I think is a new thing since the last time I'd been here. Not pictured, but my friend and I also ordered the roti canai appetizer! It was flaky and crispy in all the right ways. I found it to be a bit too oily though...

My first time having laksa and it was yummy. The parking is a bit tricky, as you need to park on the streets somewhere nearby. The inside of the restaurant somewhat resembles a diner. We ordered the laksa. We had the choice of vermicelli noodles, egg noodles, or mixed noodles. I've tried both noodles before and prefer egg noodles because they went well with the savory and creamy soup. The laksa contained chicken, shrimp, fish balls, tofu, and a hard boil egg. I can't handle spicy so we ordered it mild, but it still came with a kick. I also got lime/lemon on the side to squeeze into my soup. I will definitely be back when I'm craving laksa.

Authentic Malaysian food! I tried the Laksa and it was great and it comes with lots of ingredients! The beef Rendang was great too with very tender meat and flavorful sauce. The roti canai was also delicious and I believe they are made fresh and not like some places that serve frozen one. Ambience is not the best and it looks like an old diner but who cares if food is good!

One of the better places to get a bowl of decently spiced laksa in the lower mainland. The type where you don't have to ask or remind them to "make it spicy" cause well that's how it is usually served. The roti this time wasn't as soft or flaky as I prefer and was a tad too burnt or crispy for my liking. However, two large pieces so no one left hungry. Service is non intrusive but you tend to have to ask or flag down someone if you need anything. Not the type of place where they come fill your water glass or ask how your meal is. Diner style seating with some tables & chairs. No fuss decor as it definitely appeared to be leftover fixtures from previous establishment. Gives it character I suppose.

Time to come back after some 12(!) years. Totally forgot about this place. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as on Hastings in the evening. Place looks basically unchanged from my last visit. Wow. Looks like the owners haven't changed either. They are Burmese/Myanma. Mohingar (Myanma fish soup) - nice and thick. Reminds me of the satay stuff. Served with a rather interesting deep fried bean(?) pancake/fritter on top, and a sliced boiled egg. Also comes with a slice of lime, and some seriously spicy chili flakes (powder?). Dip the fritter and eat it quickly before it gets soggy. Pretty tasty I must say. I also had the seafood laksa. Once again, hit the spot. There is a choice between white (vermicelli) noodles and yellow (egg) noodles. One can also do half half. Great flavour. Decent toppings. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back. Their hours are rather limited though. Recommended.

Their signature laksa soup, requested extra spicy-hot

This place is a must try! I have enjoyed laksa at numerous Metro Vancouver places and this place is the very best by far! Rich, deep, and awesome flavour. Service was friendly and dining room was clean. A real gem!

However, I was a bit disappointed but not too much as prices were decent depending on what you get. We got the chicken laksa, Nasi goreng, Mongolian chicken, and kuih lapis. Chicken laksa is the ideal order as the soup is decent and the pricing is fair. It is not the best as the soup didn't carry much flavor and the noodles were a bit on the softer side. It was filling however. Nasi goreng is solid. The vegetables felt frozen reheated and wilted, but at least the cucumbers were fresh. The amount of shrimp, squid, and fish cakes was dismal. Flavor profile is good. The Mongolian chicken is okay. It's not fried as the batter is quite soft. It is saucy which my friends were craving. I enjoyed the flavor profile of this one though. The dessert is good. Kuih Lapis is a colorful dessert so it appealed to me in both taste and presentation. One red flag I noticed is that I heard beep after beep of microwave sounds. It's as if all the dishes they prepared well in advance and just reheat for us, plus they walled off the kitchen and the back completely, giving the impression that they want to hide something. Most renowned places won't hide the back like that, as you can at least take a peek of what's cooking behind the scenes in most places. Service is good as they refill complimentary tea throughout our dining experience. Pay at the front for the bill.
