Went after church and were there just in time because the little place filled up fast. The greeting was ok. Salsa and chips were brought out, the chips were light and crispy and the salsa was unique and good. I say unique because many restaurants have their take on salsa and Lalo's salsa was not just the run of the mill salsa. I had 2 Huevos (over easy) Estrellados Con Chile Verde with rice and beans. The dish had chunks of pork in Chile Verde with two eggs on top. The Chile Verde was very tasty and the beans and rice was good. All in all a very nice breakfast. My wife has a Chile Relleno with beans and rice. The filling was very good and tasty sauce. Prices were in line with other restaurants except the bottle water price was a little steep and it might help if you were told to pay at the counter. read more

Came in yesterday for lunch intending on having some Chile verde with beans and rice. Then I saw a sign on the door that said 'tortitas de Camaron con nopales'. Like whhhhhaaaatttt? I remember my mom making these for lent as a kid. I have never seen these at a restaurant. I was so excited and ordered them. These were much spicier than the ones my mother used to make but just as (or even more) delicious. Made my day to have a childhood meal. read more

My chile verde burrito was huge, of course had it mojado style. Puerco was so tender and full of flavor. Also had the asada and we ordered a chile relleno on the side. Everything was delicious and served up quick. Little spot with plenty of seating, much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Our service was great. Definitely coming back. read more

Located next to the 711 on citrus, this place is a definite must have! Very happy with my brunch choice, chilaquiles, very yummy. I read some of the reviews and saw a complaint that $16 is steep for chilaquiles but I totally disagree in this case. Chilaquiles verde (the amount of spice spot on), with a sunny side up egg (cooked perfectly), rice and beans that taste home made (fresh and delicious).Oh and chicken! I added chicken into my chilaquiles and it just brought it all together. Sometimes chicken can be too hard, or flavorless or just simply doesn't taste good but that is most definitely not the case here. The entire meal was very good. Great size portion I would gladly come back and get it again but I think next time I'll try something else because if this was good I wonder how their other entrees taste. They even give a little baggy of chips, perfectly crunchy, not over salted and not stale. I ordered over the phone; the staff was polite and patient with my indecisiveness. I was greeted right away when I walked in. There's a good amount of tables and chairs to sit. The restaurant was clean and they even have snacks to offer, and drink options in a fridge. I always get two bean burritos and when the brother is working he charges me $13.21 and when the mom is working she charges me $11 flat. It's just annoying he charges more ... for what? I always get their carne asada burrito, mojado with red sauce, I've gotten it spicy and regular and they're both amazing! Their red sauce is one of the most unique sauces I've tried, it definitely separates their burrito mojado from others. The spicy definitely has a kick though so beware if you can't handle spice too well. My family members have tried other foods from them and they really loved what they got, as well. Their flan is also delicious, it reminds me of the thicker creamier Philippino flan, which I prefer even though I'm Mexican and grew up with Mexican style flan. Jake D. owed me a lunch, so I decided to go with a local Mexican place that came highly recommended from two gaming clients (shoutouts to Funeboy & GumDrop). Both of these customers did share with me their desire to be chefs, so I wanted to make sure these two had a sense of taste comparable to that one rat in Disney's "Ratatouille" (great film, btw!). When it came to ordering, I went with the advice of the would-be culinary students. I got a Wet Burrito with Pollo and the Red Sauce. Jake D. and I also shared a Shrimp Cocktail. The burrito was nicely-sized, lightly cheesed, and placed in the center of a plate that served as a shallow swimming pool of red sauce. Of course, I had to knife-and-fork this thing. This was my first wet burrito, so I was pleasantly surprised. At the same time, I was disappointed that it took me this long to decide to enjoy one. Better late than never, I guess. Burritos are not typically my first choice when going out to enjoy Mexican cuisine, but I'll surely order this for take-out every once in a while before heading to work. With regard to the Shrimp Cocktail, I was expecting your standard, Americanized "dip-your-shrimp-in-cocktail-sauce" scenario. *buzz sound from Family Feud* Wrong answer. What we received was more like a ceviche, with shrimp (tails removed, thanks) swimming in a mix of citrus juices, cocktail sauce, tomatoes, avocados, onions, and cilantro. This was served with saltine crackers on the side. While this was pleasant, it wasn't quite as hearty and gratifying as I'd hoped. The place was somewhat easy to miss, as it's located deep within a not-so-pretty strip mall. It's right next door to a bakery. The bakery is then neighbors with an Adult Book Store. Yeah, awesome family-friendly location! lol. The decor is of the hole-in-the wall variety, but it succeeds in giving you that sense that you're in some family restaurant in Mexico. It's well-lit, so it's like the opposite of Carmen's in old town Azusa. There's a jukebox in the corner playing tunes, and a TV always set to the novellas. read more
