We previously posted a glowing review of this establishment. Sadly, since the ownership changed we have noticed a downward slide in the food. Examples: my wife found a hair in a serving of corn, there was an ingredient missing from her Jersey Shore Salad and my pork roll and cheese sandwich which was supposed to be served on a Kaiser roll ended up being served on toast with one of the slices of pork roll slightly burned. These sort of things are pure carelessness and can easily be corrected by closer managerial attention. read more

I go to this diner all the time. Very rarely have I had a ignorant waiter/ress and the food is always good. If we ever have a complaint about the food, a lot of the time they will take the food off the receipt. The management is great and the deserts are to die for! read more

Consistently amazing service. Last night we had Amani as our server. WOW she was soooo attentive. I mean right there when we need a refill or whatever. That's what I call service. So much so that I had to call the wonderful the beautiful manager Andrea over as I usually do with all the servers. We go there faithfully and every time exception service and yes delicious meals. I am a new addition to South Jersey, this place is definitely one of the best and most consistent diner breakfast experiences I have had to date. Very clean, large capacity, quality service, phenomenal coffee, fantastic food, and great menu options... Not to say the other diner's were bad- but I think this spot is one of the best (for breakfast). I have gotten eggs, protein, protein yogurt w/ honey, pancakes! They are all phenomenal. Solid diner. I would say above average on noisy of their selections though not particularly amazing you get great value from their portions. The decor is nicer than most other diners and the staff are generally very friendly. I usually end up getting a daily special and making it 4 course so I get the dessert. Huge place so even if it seems packed, the wait is quicker than you expect. We were told 10 minutes and didn't even wait for one. Service is usually very good. We have visited this diner a few times since it has been open. In the beginning all was great. However our last visit or two has been disappointing. The service was not up to par, and the food continues to go downhill. We have had to remind the server of things they forgot bring. We have had to send food back to the kitchen for one reason or another. That is why we will be in NO rush to return. There are better options when you are in the Blackwood area. read more

Yep, I'm a fan. I've been meaning to try this place out for quite some time. That time was today. The decor -- awesome. Really modern, yet comfortable. The interior is very clean and it still has that "very new" look and feel to it. I really hope they can keep this up. The place is beautiful. Restrooms are to the left as you enter and there is a nice place to hang coats. Immediately to your right as you enter is the counter area. Straight ahead, as you enter, is the host stand and bakery counter with register. The pastries were gorgeous. I love a diner that can produce pastries that make me envy their looks. The service -- excellent. From being greeted by the host, to the attention from the server, to the cashier who took my payment, everyone was friendly and on top of what they were doing. The food -- OH EM GEE. The menu is what you'd expect from a diner -- it's comprehensive. I wanted breakfast because breakfast is good at any hour, but I decided to try something different. I ordered a chicken fajita wrap in a white tortilla. The menu said it came with fries and slaw. When my meal came out, the wrap had been pressed in a panini maker, which I LOVED. The serving of fries was big, as was the cup of slaw. With an ice-tea, I paid $12.84. It was worth it. All of it. When we pulled up at noon, the place was packed -- always a good sign. read more

My dad and I were trying to decide where to have dinner on a Sunday evening, and decided on the Lamp Post. Boy, were we glad we did! We were immediately seated in a window side booth. In a minute or two our waitress showed up. She was friendly and cheerful. She even laughed at my dad's cheesy jokes! Also, she was attentive, checking if he needed refills on his coffee. I ordered the beef burger, and it was delicious! Cooked to perfection, and the toppings were fresh and crisp. The fries were tasty, and there were plenty of them without being too many. I was able to finish them, and was satisfied without being stuffed. Altogether, a great meal, for about $10 each including drinks, not much more than you would pay at a fast food place, but infinitely better quality. read more

Tried this place for the first time! Pretty impressive. Very nice and spacious inside. Only downside, they consider themselves a diner but close at 11:00pm. We got the lamppost sampler (3 wings, 3 mozzarella sticks, 3 potato skins). Delish. The wings were very good. Boyfriend and I shared: jersey cheesesteak (cheesesteak with pork roll) and curly fries and the farmers omelette and scrapple. The cheesesteak and fries were delish. Scrapple looked gross but it was very good. The omelette was light on the toppings side and we think they made us the wrong one. Service was great. We got some desserts to go: peanut butter cheesecake and brownie. YUMMY! read more

Definitely a fan of this place! It's not your typical Jersey diner and that's exactly why I like it. It has a mixed feeling between a cafe and a diner. The foods are all your classic diner dishes, plus some, but the feeling is a bit less crazy than a diner. Don't get me wrong, this Jersey girl loves a greasy, loud diner for breakfast after a late night. But this place is just a bit cozier. It's probably due to the frequent make-over of this place. Was Prospectors and Charlie Browns. Added plus, for diner coffee, it's fantastic. They have a nice size counter service area. And the dessert look amazing (though I admit I haven't tried any). I have been coming here just about every Friday for breakfast since last summer and I really want to love the place because a lot of food I have had from here has been good. However, there have been times on THREE separate occasions there has been hair in my food. They are normally pretty good at fixing it, sometimes taking the meal off the bill, other times not. I understand that hair in the food is something that can happen because I work in a restaurant. I am just a little tired of having to send my food back so I probably won't be back. It's just incredibly inconsistent and recently the service has gone down hill. Also, Andrea, in the front, I believe she is the manager is kind of rude to her customers. She was arguing with me about a charge for cheese fries on my receipt, I got charged for a full order of cheese fries when all I did was order a side of cheese for the fries that came with my meal- which I do every week when I come and never have been charged the $5 that I was getting charged that particular time. New Years Day out to breakfast, decided to try the new guy in town. Arrived to find plenty of others who decided to do the same! Despite the crowd, we were seated within two minutes. Couldn't help but notice the good number of staff here to serve. We were quickly greeted by our server, pleasant and wishing us a Happy New Year. Coffee was hot, fresh and delicious. Water served without asking for it, nice. Pancakes and pork roll were very good, as was my wife's scrambled eggs. There are places that are just as good and a little less expensive, but the well decorated restaurant keeps it at three stars. I like this place. They have a huge menu and we can always get in because it's quite large. Usually for me when I go to a diner it's breakfast I am looking for. I like their crepes and that you can get any variety of pancake on pancake, crepe or waffle. My go to breakfast is usually creamer chipped beef on toast but I don't care for their version, very little beef and no flavor and always cold when served. Saw them featured on Fox in the morning. I came out for a breakfast and was quite disappointed. Everything looked great on TV but lacked a lot of flavor. Live in the area and have been a frequent visitor of Lamp Post. The last few times we have been there - the food has not kept pace. I would probably still go there for something simple - tough to screw up a burger or pancakes, but they just do not seem to do anything more complicated than that very well any more. The beef stew must have been sitting in a pot for hours as it was beef mush. The pasta dish was edible, but again just not worth it- there are too many other places in the area that do it better. We like the place - it is clean, great service, but they better step up on the food that they serve and get to the way things were when they first opened. It is better to serve fewer options well than have a thousand mediocre choices. read more
