Flexibility and willing to search on a discontinued, discounted lamp that was located at other bay area stores. I needed a matching one. San Jose only had 1 floor model left. We would not had picked it if just viewing from web page. But looking at it and seeing the quality materials and solid build made us pursue it. I know technology is advancing the ability to view products this is why store shopping still is very important. We appreciate the informed dialog with manager/staff at San Jose Stevens Creek store. Disappointed with their quality check of products before selling. We bought among other items a 14"" crystal pendent light. On installation we find one lamp isn't working. When contacted all we got is " how sorry they are" and want to replace the bulb if we take the defective bulb to them. We were so delighted. I recently bought two chandeliers. One glass piece was broken during shipment. I went to the store in Dublin and was greeted by Lisa. The broken glass piece is on back order and will take two months. Lisa immediately made a decision to help me by giving me the glass piece from the floor display. (Thinking outside the box!) Then she'll order one for the floor display so I don't have to wait. I ordered a $300 chandelier from the Dublin Lamps Plus and was given a delivery date 2 weeks out. Later, I got an email saying delivery would be 6 weeks out. I called customer service and was told I could go to San Mateo and pick one up. This option was not given to me at the initial sale. The customer service rep said he would call San Mateo to confirm they had the item and promised to call me back that day. He didn't call so the following day I called customer service again. I was told there was nothing to indicate that the call to San Mateo was made. I later got a call from customer service apologizing for not following up as they "were very busy." They offered me a 10% price reduction for my trouble. They called San Mateo and learned that their computer was wrong and they didn't have the item. I was offered the display fixture but I said if I was going to take a display item I would go the Dublin store. I talked to the Dublin manager, who offered more excuses. He offered me the display model but when I asked the price he said it was $300. I asked for a discount since it was a display model, not new, and he only offered me the 10% I already had! I canceled the sale and will never do business with this dysfunctional company. read more

I purchased a ceiling fan from these people and from day one I told him that something was wrong with it and they kept telling me that it was the wiring, I had a certified electrician come to my home and he determined that there was nothing wrong with the wiring and he determined that the capacitor had failed and even showed it to me how it's swollen and extremely hot. I called lamps plus asking them if I can purchase a capacitor and they referred me to their technical support number which I have called more than 7 Times and left three emails and still have not been contacted back, if they sold a better product I wouldn't have this issue. If these are the products that you sell you should help the people that spent their money at your shop. read more

I am surprised I have not reviewed this before... I have tried to purchase lighting here, but have never found exactly what I was looking for. Several years ago I re-did the lighting in my bathroom, and found nothing that suited me. Admittedly I was trying to match the fixtures I already had....I am sure it all depends on what you are looking for, as they have lots and lots to choose from. Recently I wanted new lampshades for my chandelier, and was very unimpressed with the quality of the items they had....fortunately I came in to see, and did not order online. Good quality lampshades are hard to find. I am very independent, and don't need allot of attention, but I never had any acknowledgement of my existence in the store during my half a dozen trips here.... I have had much better luck at the now defunct *Expo* an off shoot of Home Depot. P.S Got a sweet note from the manager...pretty impressive :-) read more

I could not recommend the Lamps Plus in Dublin more highly! The sales people are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and their customer service is over the top. I recently replaced several light fixtures in my home. They were so helpful as I tried to figure out what fixtures to get, as I am not a great decorator. :) There was an issue with one of the chandeliers, and the response I got from Tina, who is the Manager, and Glencora, an associate, far exceeded my expectations. They jumped right on it, and resolved the situation quickly and professionally. They have gone above and beyond to provide me with excellent service, and have always been eager and willing to go the extra mile to ensure I am a happy customer. Francis Soreman review. We brought in two lamps we purchased from Lamps Plus over 20 years ago. One had a loose socket and the light bulb wouldn't stay lit. The other we weren't sure how to get the light bulb out without breaking it and what bulb to replace it with. Francis Soreman, the assistant manager, just happened to be there and got both lamps working. He even immediately knew the name of the high end, designer desk lamp, the Holtkotter Leuchten (made in Germany). He was familiar with the workings of both lamps. We have purchased lamps and mirrors over the past couple decades from Lamps Plus and appreciate the quality and service. read more

I'm an independent contractor and I suggested to one of my customers that she could use Lamps plus to obtain 5 ceiling fans that she wanted installed in her home in Danville, CA. I have installed scores of ceiling fans from various sources on all types of ceiling surfaces but never in my career have I experienced such frustration installing such inferior quality fans as the ones obtained from Lamps plus. The sales staff discouraged my customer from having anyone but their own in house installers install their fans and for good reason. 3 out of 5 fans had serious problems. After my attempts to install all five fans one was defective and would not run at all. Another 2 would not balance and had wobbles that confounded my various solutions for balancing fans. My customer had to have the official installers come out and to my surprise their solution to correct the wobble was to drill numerous screws into several places on the fan's framework to prevent it from wobbling. While this was a unusual procedure, requiring signifigant time and drilling along with being a bit of a MacGyver type hack, it did work. The third fan was declared defective and a new fan was ordered. As a long time professional having worked everywhere from a timesquare hotel to private schools, I am now embarrassed and feeling apologetic to my customer. I lowered my fee causing me to loose money on this job in an effort to make amends. These fans were poorly made and the directions were needlessly confusing containing instructions for several models in one manual and separate instructions for separate components conflicting with the manual. I'll never send another customer to Lamps plus. read more
