Came at a busy time and there was about a 15-20 minute wait. It was a little confusing since they had a tablet for the Yelp waiting list, but some people would walk in and try to take a table that was just cleaned without putting their names in so not too sure if they could manage that better. They also cleaned the tables rather slowly after patrons were finished. I think extra staff to help or better organization would be good. The ramen was pretty good. I wish my noodles were more al dente though. The gyoza was just okay. Would come back again if we're in the area and hopefully they will be better organized. read more

We actually drove over here after my daughter's soccer game because most of the people in my truck wanted Yogurtland. Once we pulled in, however, my daughter informed me that she was hungry, and asked "dad can we get Ramen?" Without a second thought, we wandered into Ramen Boiler Room. The restaurant is in an unassuming strip mall of sorts, but inside is clean and modern not looking. The tables and chairs are new, the staff behind the counter greeted us when we walked in, and we ordered it up. Speaking of ordering, it's a self serve touchscreen, but the menu is printed out on a big poster right at the front counter, and selections are pretty straightforward. No gluten-free options here for Mrs. picante, but that's OK. My youngest ordered the spicy, and my daughter and I each got a bowl of regular tonkatsu. I was particularly impressed with the silky pork broth: it was really delicious. The soft boiled egg was just the right amount of runny inside, the noodles have exactly the right chew, and the amount of pork and green onions did not disappoint. We're not frequent visitors to this part of the world, but this was a nice little strip mall Ramen spot. 15 bucks a bowl is about par for the course, and for a quick lunch under 20 bucks, this place passes muster. read more

With such a name, I thought that this restaurant would have steampunk vibes, but it's just a normal restaurant. Regardless, I'm so glad that I live near the boiler room. My mother is always craving ramen, but I don't because I don't drink pork juice. But luckily for me, this location sells my favorite dish: fried chicken!!! So while I can't speak on the namesake dish of the boiler room, I can say that their fried chicken rice bowl is great. It comes with a generous portion of deliciously breaded chicky chunks and a nice drizzle of garlic mayo (I think?). As a Yelp-certified regular at this boiler room, this is my go-to dish! I came by on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded, but my dish came out really quick. My mother's ramen order on the other-hand, arrived once I was halfway done with my dish. Today I placed a pickup order and realized the Kids Shoyu Ramen was listed as dine-in only. My daughter is home sick, and I specifically wanted the kids ramen because it's lighter and made with less oil and sodium. I called the restaurant to see if there was any way they could make an exception. The employee who answered was very friendly and asked if I could please hold for a moment. One day, I asked my fellow Yelper friend Ian which is his favorite ramen spot. Without any hesitation, he said Ramen Boiler Room. The one and only "One Man Ramen Shop". If I could give it 10 stars, I would. Seabura Garlic Ramen was out of this world DELICIOUS! OMG... BEST melt in your mouth pork belly ever! SO VERY GOOD! I was in heaven LOL. Noodles were crunchy and tasty. I couldn't stop slurping. Soup was so tasty, too. I added some spicy chili oil and WOW, taste and flavor elevated to the next level! I ate one bowl here and got one bowl to-go LOL. Thanks so much Ian for the recommendation! I am quite surprised there are so much seating especially when there is only one man manning the shop. He did exceptionally well though. However, my wait time was about 20-30 minutes. It's all good. I can tell all the other customers were very patient, too. Since the gentleman has to cook, there is no one taking orders. There is one self-ordering kiosk or QR code or digital dine-in. Water, condiments, utensils, napkins, and to-go bowls + bags are available via self-service. I like how this shop is ran pretty efficiently. I also ordered to-go... 1 Tonkotsu Ramen, 1 Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, 1 Chicken Kaarage, and 1 Seabura Garlic Ramen. My daughters enjoyed their ramen and kaarage. We always saw this place and decided to check it out. When you walk in the restaurant it felt spacious with the open kitchen concept. You order your meal first and take a number to sit down. We ordered the karaage for appetizer and it was so good! It was fresh, crispy and juicy. I got a yuzu ramen which was a seasonal menu item. The broth was super flavorful with a hint of yuzu. It also had chicken which I thought would be dry but it was super juicy and tender. My so got the spicy tonkotsu which was also delicious too. Went here per the request of one of my best friends who happened to be craving ramen. It was a cold day so it was perfect. She had heard of this place and we decided to give it a try. It's nestled in on of the smaller plazas off the 10 in West Covina, right next to an AYCE sushi spot. The spot itself is pretty cozy. You walk in and place your order with one of the employees before you sit down. I ordered a seabura garlic ramen with extra thin noodles (as I would be sharing with my 2 younger sons) and added a soft boiled egg. We had also tried the Karaage chicken, as my best friend ordered it for the younger children as an appetizer. The Karaage chicken, from what I saw, was not the greatest. The pieces that my 2 sons got was not very edible. My littlest did not fancy the actual meat inside and stuck to just piecing of the breading that fell off of it and ate it like a chip, while my older son attempted to eat pieces of it, but again - the meat inside of his pieces were just too tough. I am not too sure if it was undercooked or it was just bad chicken. Either way, I'd rate this particular appetizer a 4/10. Maybe they would have been better with the smaller pieces, but that's not how the cards were dealt that evening, so that rating is based on what was actually consumed. Next the Garlic Ramen. My kids and I love a thick broth so I was actually excited for this bowl of ramen. Unbeknownst to me and my girls was that it came with a thick noodle. Super good And super chewy! Loved that part of it. The pork in there (there is extra pork in this bowl) was really good. It was cooked well, tender, and had a good flavor. During the first couple of sips of the broth it was good, but later on, upon mixing everything from the bottom up, it became really salty. I love a flavorful broth, i really do, but I definitely needed dilute it more to make it good. One of my best friends had ordered a different type of ramen and commented the same thing, also diluting her broth with water. The flavor was definitely there, but I feel like should have toned it down a bit with the saltiness. We had leftovers so I diluted our leftovers and got to eat a second serving the next day. Rated this a 6/10, but once diluted a 7.5-8/10. I wouldn't mind coming back because I know their flavors are good, but I'd definitely be adding more water. Long overdue review, but incredible incredible ramen. Other reviews are right on the money. Ordered the Seabura Garlic Ramen which is not something I have seen offered on a typical ramen shop's menu, but it was heavenly. The garlic in the name is not to be taken lightly, it is a super rich, super fatty, and loaded with garlic flavor and it is exactly what I went when I am craving a big bowl of ramen. The pork was charred to perfection, giving a chewy but tender bite with the smokiness coming through as well. They also have this little slider served on a Hawaiian roll which was a perfect side. The crisp and crunch was well retained and the sauce added was nice and tangy, super super yummy. I went on an extremely hot Saturday at lunch and was quite empty, but definitely could've been the heat. The service was super quick. Ample seating and self service water. This place is a hidden gem. They just opened recently in the center next to the West Covina mall. Owner is Japanese and a super nice person! We got the spicy tonkotsu and regular tonkotsu. The inside was clean and modern and there are plenty of tables available for seating. I did want to note that ramen does take a while to come out since there is only one staff person cooking all the food and I waited around 20-25 minutes before my bowl showed up.
