When you're a little tipsy on Fremont Street and need a quick snack, go into the Fremont Hotel and towards the back into this small to-go food stand. Cocktail sauce on the bottom, a layer of crushed celery (at first glance it looked like guacamole), and tiny shrimps topped with a lemon. What more can you ask for 99 cents? The line does get pretty long late at night here, so keep that in mind. Also, don't get too drunk or these shrimpies might not taste as good coming back up as everyone was quick to point out to us scarfing down the cocktail shrimp. I would eat this again! read more

I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately the food was neither fresh or flavorful. It tasted like it was a few days old. So much potential but it fell flat for me. If you want Chinese walk on up the street to plaza hotel. They have a much better Chinese place. read more

This is for 04/27 Saturday, tried the Ox tail soup it was good, and shared small Beef and Broccoli and ChineseChinese Chicken Salad. The Chinese Chicken Salad had dried tasted like they were chicken, but still good...! Though the soup was $16.99, I think it was worth it! i will be back! read more

Service is very slow! Just one person at the counter with usually a line of 2-3 people. The fried rice I think is missing shoyu and more flavoring. The sweet and sour pork not so great and the orange chicken was hard. I did love the shrimp cocktail even though they are a bunch of small shrimps in a cup. I was happy with that for $1.99! That was the best thing! I am afraid to try anything else! Did not want to waste my money it tasted junk! I can go around the corner to one of the other eateries in the Fremont for a great deal and yummy food! read more

This used to be open 24 hours and was the togo place later at night when everything is closed. Not sure if they are still doing 24 hours. This is located inside the Fremont casino. Prices are reasonable and they have everything from Breakfast to Oxtail soup here. Me and my wife go for the quick to go Chinese food plates. We got a two combo plate for just $7.99, you cant beat those prices. Food is decent, think of Panda express type of Chinese food. Service is always good here but the line can get pretty deep here. its good drunk people food -lol This is not instagram type of food, its eat it now im starved type of food -lol Im giving this a 4 as an overall experience. 3 for the food, 4 for the hours and customer service. read more

Quick bite to eat. Local (Hawaii) favorites. Mac salad not like what I'm used to in the islands. Chili taste like it's from the can. Everything else is good. I personally liked the oxtail soup and Chinese dishes. Convenient. Good service. If I remember correctly, they are closed from 7am-11am. read more

Good for late night or early morning dining if you're in a rush. Located in The Fremont Hotel and they have Oxtail Soup. No long wait. ... The soup and is soo good. Flavorful and delicious. So satisfying to my belly. I will definitely return whenever I'm in Downtown. read more

Lanai Express is located inside of the Fremont Casino & Hotel and has been a staple for late night Chinese dining for years! It's kinda like an old school Panda Express in that it's served cafeteria style, but certainly not the same amount of options. I've come in here for years whether staying downtown, just visiting Fremont St, or showing visitors around Vegas. My visit yesterday was the first in a couple of years, but I left with the same experience of it being a pretty decent Chinese option. They were nearly out of orange chicken for which the employee recommended that I wait 15 minutes for fresh chicken. That honesty you have to respect! Sure enough, in about 15 minutes I hade my combination of fried rice, orange chicken, and teriyaki chicken. This will never blow you away for its version of Chinese, but for what it is, it's a great late night hangover version!! read more

Came by picking up tickets for an event and I saw $1 shrimp cocktail sign. Wow! This small and mighty cup did not disappoint in taste and value. Has plenty of cocktail sauce with a postage stamp of what I think was fresh grated green horseradish and a hefty amount of tiny scrumptious shrimpies. FRESH! Recommend! read more

We landed in Vegas too early for the Market Street Cafe Oxtail which starts at 11pm, so I did a quick search on yelp for the next closest oxtail that is open at 530pm and BAM, Lanai Express. I was hesitant on arrival as it looked just like your typical Manchu Wok or Panda Express, just with more people. I noticed a few people ahead of me ordering a huge chilli dog and oxtail soup with rice. For $10.99 you get a decent sized bowl of oxtail soup but there is no carrots and celery, nor is there any fresh ginger and cilantro given to you like Market Street Cafe. The flavour was ok but I feel that there should be more water as it was a bit strong, but after a long long flight it did the job. But if there's anyway you can hold off until 11pm at The Cal, do it and just grab the shrimp Cocktail for a dollar! read more

Tried their Big Breakfast Basket and the Ox Tail soup. No presentation just food in a Styrofoam box. Eggs tasted like egg beaters had to drown in ketchup to get any flavor. The sausage patties are more grease than meat. The potatoes were fair and the corn bread square was dry. BUT the Ox Tail soup was very good. So don't try the breakfast unless your desperate or hung over. Stick to the Ox Tail at least it's real meat. read more

The oxtail soup dramatically improved my opinion of this restaurant. I previously had the two-item plate and was unimpressed with chewy chicken and sparse beef in the beef and broccoli offering. This time I had the oxtail soup. The broth was very flavorful and there was a very generous portion of oxtail meat. Most of it readily fell off the bone except for the largest piece which was slightly chewy. I don't remember which vegetables it contained but they were also flavorful. It's served with a bowl of rice. Service is a little slow, you have to wait for the kitchen to assemble it. I would rate it slightly higher than the famous version served at the Cal. read more

Bomb Ox Tail and .99 shrimp cocktail If you like Hawaiian food just get the oxtail and rice. It was so ono. Hubs had the orange chicken and it was no good but what do you expect at a casino snack bar. I keep coming back for the .99 shrimp cocktail which was amazingly fresh and delicious with homemade cocktail sauce celery and horse radish. Got hungry while gambling here so went here with low expectations. Got the nachos with cheese and chili, and the French dip. Wow surprisingly good. The chili here is very tasty and the French dip was loaded with thinly sliced beef and the broth was tasty and not too salty. read more

Went to grab a quick bite. Will not go there again. The chow mein no meat however way to many huge slices of carrots. Had 2 choices the sweet sour pork tenderloin serving was 3 pieces of pork with about 10 pieces of each carrots, onions and bell peppers (where's the pork) the beef broccoli was just as pitiful. Will not go back or recommend to family or friends. Service was very slow no one in line only me. The flooring of the eating area lots of rubbish on the floor. Go at your own risk. read more

I had to get the $1.00 shrimp cocktail to taste old Vegas. When there were $1.00 shrimp cocktail more readily available back in the days. I think this is one of only places left that serve it. The service was super slow these women really need help back there omg! A lot of locals eat here. I didn't try anything else. I didn't expect much the shrimp cocktail it was okay. read more

Two words: oxtail soup! After a long day and night of shopping and gambling, this place is an oasis of onolicious goodies. The oxtail soup comes with or without Chinese parsley and a container of white rice. Good flavor, like 5 pieces of oxtail and the buggah is WINNAH! Plenny sears in the area to sit. Lanai is worth the trip to downtown for their oxtail soup. The broth is rich and clear. They give you a side of rice to add as you eat. This is nice to add to the meal. The soup is prepared when you order. The location is right in the middle of a casino so you can order as a take out of you rather eat it at a different location. The staff are nice and bring the food to you. read more

My boss had been telling me that I should try the Ox Tail Soup at the Fremont Hotel. I had to go to downtown so I made it a point to stop by there. The cost for the ox tail was $10.99 and came with a bowl of rice. You can add mushrooms and cilantro if you want. There were five big meaty pieces of ox tail and the soup was very tasty. Back home we would pay $15 - $20 for something comparable so this was a bargain! If you want a light meal I definitely would recommend ordering this. The Lanai Express is located casino level next to Dunkin' Doughnuts. read more

Came here for Saturday brunch and there was already a small line at 11am. We ordered the dollar shrimp cocktails and oxtail soup which came with mushrooms, cilantro and a side of rice . I think it was $10 a bowl? Broth was a tad salty so maybe that's why it came with rice but it had at least 4-5 large pieces of oxtails in each soup so it was well worth it. Didn't enjoy the shrimp cocktails . Tiny pieces of shrimp tossed in cocktail sauce , not recommended. But hey it's only a dollar! Service was good. Place was clean. Saw many people ordering the foot long hot dog. Maybe next time! read more

So, I was pulled into this express idea with their great advertising on Fremont street. I did not check out previous reviews like I normally do. I should have known better. The reasons this place is getting two stars, instead of one, are convenience and price. They also give you a large quantity of food. The orange chicken tasted old and had very little flavor to it. The chicken was also fried with lots of gristle and fat. It was unsettling having to pull chunks out of my mouth while eating. The beef and broccoli tasted better but the sauce was the star of the dish. The beef was over cooked and had no flavor on its own. The chow mien was probably the best I had to eat. Unfortunately, I know it's because the customer ahead of me cleaned out the previous batch and they had to pull a new one. I would search elsewhere if you are looking for quality food. read more

I had heard about the 99 cent shrimp cocktails at this place for a long time now but had never gone to try it. Well this time we made it a point to give it a try. Hubby and I both got one while lil guy was fixated on the foot long hot dog and the spam musubi. The foot long hot dog was a great deal. For about $2.50 you get the dog plus a drink. The spam musubi was also pretty tasty although the nori was chewy because the lady warmed it up, but the flavor was good. The shrimp cocktail had way too much sauce on it. The shrimp was so overpowered by the sauce I couldn't even taste the shrimp. There is some chopped up lettuce, onions, celery at the bottom to give it flavor, but again, TOO much sauce. If you plan to go, ask the woman NOT to add more sauce to the already sauced cocktail. Otherwise, your shrimps will be drowning and crying out for help. The other thing is, these shrimps are so damn small you can barely taste them. Go to Costco and get their shrimp cocktail for $10 and eat to your heart's content! This place also serves saimin and oxtail soup for those of you craving Hawaiian fare. Otherwise, they are a Chinese fast food place -- I wouldn't eat the Chinese here -- and it's only okay to just grab a snack. Don't plan on having a meal, you'll be disappointed. read more

Was on vacation for a high school reunion and booked through Vacations Hawaii, which provides you with a meal voucher for breakfast, lunch, dinner and speciality items. For lunch the one time we ate there (even though we stayed at the Fremont), I had their Teri Beef plate listed for $5.99 (which included what looked like a 20 oz drink cup), while my brother had the $8 Oxtail Soup. Anyway, with my Vacations Hawaii meal voucher, my meal and drink was free and his was only $8 for the Oxtail Soup (no drink included for him). Something about the mainland that has their own interpretation of teri-beef, and for a local Hawaii resident, this AIN'T teri-beef (local Hawaii style)! It's not grilled, and has like a sweet teriyaki sauce just placed on top of the cooked beef (like it's Yoshida's teriyaki dressing) . Hawaii's teri beef is normally marinated in shoyu with ginger and garlic and then doused with the marinade while being grilled. Funny, I thought because Fremont Hotel is owned by the Boyd's whose son attended Lincoln Elementary, Class of 1940 (so there is the Hawaii connection), they'd try to make all their dishes taste like what you'd find in Hawaii...at least the Oxtail Soup is (that's a winner)...heard that from other classmates too. read more

Ox Tail soup went up to $18 and is not as good as before. They put junk pieces with plenty fat and the broth lost its taste. Customer service went way downhill. The other food items to choose from didn't look appetizing. This will be my last time eating here. Aloha! read more

Came here for the 99 cent shrimp cocktail. I must say it is not bad for the price! It's baby cooked shrimps...they use fresh horse radish and cocktail sauce. Recommend: get 2-3 wedges of lemon to squeeze in along with 2 sauce cup of Tabasco (because it's small) It's technically everyone's preference as well. Would go back just for that snack! read more

I never would have given this place a second thought but my mother and brother saw the $0.99 shrimp cocktail. So we had to go in. It's this weird little food court looking place inside the Freemont Hotel and Casino. Customer service was pretty decent. I had no complaints there. The woman working wasn't terribly social, but she wasn't the stereotypical Angry Asian Lady either. She was pretty nice, actually. So was the woman cleaning tables. My mother and brother ordered the shrimp cocktail after seeing the sign outside. It's shrimp for $0.99. Somehow I wouldn't expect spectacular. They didn't get spectacular either. I don't eat seafood, so I have no opinion on how it tasted. But they got it, and mixed the sauce and whatever shredded up green stuff was in there in too. Big complaint was it was too spicy for both of them. They asked one employee there if they could rinse the shrimp off and get that horrible sauce off, not wanting to waste food/product. The waitress, I suppose you could call her, looked at us strangely. Like she had no idea what a strainer was or even how to rinse something off. Some people can burn water, and I would presume she is one of those. Anyway, instead of rinsing the yucky sauce off, she just got them two new shrimp cocktails and they didn't mix it into the sauce again. Customer service was good, I had no complaints there. Food was so-so. I looked at everything they had out on the line, and nothing looked exciting. I'm not a big fan of Chinese food though either. Would I return? No. It's not a place that screams anything special to me. Like I said, had we not noticed the sign and my family wanted to try it, I would've walked right by it and kept going. Spicy beef soup with hand pulled noodles - flavor was just okay, honestly. Kind of bland compared to other spots. Fish soup with wide noodles - same, the flavor didn't pop and should have been more sour. The noodles were excellent, and with noodle in the name, it's exactly what I expected. Buuuttt...if I have to choose between amazing noodles and decent flavors, or decent boodles and excellent flavors - I'm going with the latter.

The menu runs the full arc from classic dim sum executed with genuine care, to creative preparations that justify their own existence rather than just existing to be interesting, to live seafood presentations that remind us why we made the drive. The garlic sandstorm lobster is a personal obsession at this point. The Peking duck service is more than decent. That's not a small thing. Decent Peking duck in the hands of a kitchen that actually respects the bird is better than spectacular Peking duck somewhere that treats it like a menu checkbox. One warning, delivered in good faith to diners: we once held a 9:30pm reservation that Palette accepted without comment, then called us to request we move it because the kitchen closes around that time. The reservation system, as of our last check, still accepts 9:30 bookings. Whether the kitchen situation has evolved is unclear. What is clear is that the right move is to verify before you arrive, or simply book earlier. Vegas' Chinatown is vast. Not all of it deserves your time. This one does.

Place is small, but there's still a good amount of seating available. We ordered the Mongolian Beef, wonton soup, and lechon kawali to go. Lechon kawali wasn't crispy to go, but the flavor was still good. Comes with 1 small sauce cup of vinegar and lechon sauce, so I would ask for a few sauces if you're sharing. Mongolian beef was delicious, not overly sweet and not spicy. Wonton soup was also good and had just the right amount of flavor. I'm used to seeing wonton soup in clear broth, so I was surprised to see the broth brown. Maybe they put some soy sauce in it? Whatever the color, it still tasted like wonton soup. It could've been better without extra vegetables like broccoli. Overall still a good spot for Filipino and Chinese food, but I recommend dining in.
