I should have red rhe reviews before going. We got two meals, the first was a simple teriyaki chicken which we had to send back due to being so overcooked it was inedible. The Mongolian beef was great. The service was prompt, and the staff attentiveness to our drinks was nice. I do appreciate the manager coming over and apologizing for the food, and took off that meal. They should have done more, but happy she came over as well as taking food off bill without question. It is open seating so it is not noisy and could have a conversation. We stay here frequently and though disappointed with the meal overall, the Mongolian beef may bring us back for that meal alone. read more

Looking for a nice place to eat, we stopped by RED Asian. Unsure of where to go, a sweet lady quickly approached us and guided us to some seats. Our server, who looked busy was doing a great job and balancing all his customers. Our sever gave us some recommendations, our food came out fairly quickly and we enjoyed all of it!! My biggest complaint about this restaurant is the fact that I was charged four dollars for a cup of hot water. I ordered regular water as my drink and I also ordered a cup of hot water with lemon because I had a scratchy throat. There was a four dollar charge on my bill for the hot water. I don't understand, why cold water is free but hot water has a charge. The sushi rolls were nothing special. The lobster roll had toppings on it that were not listed on the menu, so I paid $25 for a roll that I did not eat. However, I did enjoy the brisket fried rice. It was delicious. Small restaurant and no way to make a reservation online. I tried calling but I couldn't speak to an actual person. Normally, I would give less than three stars based on my experience and wasting almost $30 (hot water and inaccurate menu description for sushi) but the rice was really good! read more

I have not eaten here in years. The first time I enjoyed sushi here was about a decade ago. I have eaten at Red about five to six times. Sadly, the fish quality, in my opinion , is noticeably lesser in quality. Rice, one of the other essential components to excellent sushi has also been degraded in quality. Please do not get too crossed about my review; but I have had excellent sushi at other restaurants and here at this establishment over a decade ago. The fish quality is not similar to what they offered in prior years.. The sushi is not horrible, but not as wonderful as I recall it to be in the past. The service is still friendly and helpful. It's a nice restaurant, and you can people watch from the dinner bar, but the food is just good (not great), which doesn't justify the price. Excellent service, but still not really worth it. I really wanted to like Red Sushi, because it's only 0.5 miles from my condo. Sadly what I found was a sushi restaurant in Fremont that charges Strip prices. $14 for a California roll? C'mon. They also only have 24 rolls to choose from, pretty anemic compared to most sushi places. With that said, the sushi was good and the rolls were large. We had the Godzilla Roll and the Firecracker roll. The Firecracker Roll is heated in an oven but not spicy, so perhaps that's where it gets its name. We also had the fried rice, which was probably the best part of the meal. Bottom line, the food is good but the prices and selection are both not ideal for me. read more

A wonderful little sushi place located inside the Golden Nugget. It is located in a not so busy part of the casino so it is a nice spot to get away and maybe catch a little quite time. Bartender/waiter Jeffrey was super easy to talk to and offered his opinion when asked. Happy hour specials are where it's at but the regular prices are not that bad either. In the middle of the casino, right outside the doors to The Grand Ballrooms, is this sushi restaurant. So Sushi, I'm Nevada, I'm really not expecting Tokyo freshness. But we were surprised. It was so good at Happy Hour that we came back few days later because it was that good,and great customer service! I had actually left my baseball cap behind,and 2 days later when I realized it was missing,I back0 tracked. Sure enough the hostess turned it into security. Luckily, It was returned back to me. I had to say, that was awesome customer service. I am recommending the shrimp roll,spicy tuna roll,and Ashi beer. Oh, great price for 3 adults, sushi rolls,edamame, for under $60! No wait. Entrees are pretty good. Attentive service. Casino pricing. Had a Groupon to test drive this sushi-ya inside Golden Nugget. It was a nice looking restaurant, just past the Grotto restaurant. The sushi bar dominates the small restaurant area. As mentioned in other reviews, either the sushi chefs are all uniformly short or the sushi bar counter is too high. If you sit at the sushi bar, it will take some extra effort to carry on a conversation with the sushi chef. On my visit, I decided to mostly skip the sushi menu, as its price to value ratio was not in the range that I would considered reasonable. And the sushi selection is what you can get at all the other sushi-yas around town, except maybe the toro (fatty tuna). So I mostly tried their entrees, which is about right. The Black Cod with Sweet Miso was pretty good. It helps that it is hard to mess up a moist fish like black cod. Portion can be larger, plus longer marinating time with the sake miso for more miso flavor would have made it better. 3.5 stars for the taste, 3 stars for value. Grilled New York Steak and Chicken Katsu Combo is your average Japanese restaurant teriyaki beef and chicken katsu combo. It was decent but not great. The waitress asked how I wanted my steak prepared, and I said medium rare. When it was served, it was "well done", but still tender. The chicken katsu was deep fried a tad too long, and was not as juicy as it could have been. The wasabi cream sauce on the NY steak was a nice touch on the traditional teriyaki sauce. 3 stars. New Style Sashimi - Hot Oil Flashed Hamachi with Ponzu Sauce. It was definitely a Nobu-inspired dish (technique used in Chinese cookery), which is tasty, but not the same as the original. 3.5 stars. The waitress was nice, refilled the tea as needed, but I was hardly a demanding customer. 4 stars. Red Sushi is definitely a restaurant for visitors staying Downtown without a car that is craving Japanese food. Price is higher than non-casino Japanese restaurants, which is normal. But to compete effectively against the likes of Blue Ribbon Sushi, Yellowtail and Japonais (Japanese restaurants at other Vegas casinos), they need to step up their game. For one, the restaurant lacks energy or the vibe to go with their decor, if you closed your eyes you could easily imagine that you are eating at a small mom-and-pop Japanese restaurant with a significantly smaller operating budget. There are no specials, like omakase options, to entice customers to bookmark this restaurant and add it to their trip itinerary. The potential is definitely there, it just needs to be unleashed by the executive chef or Director of F&B. ~3 stars. read more

Such a disappointment! We were pretty excited about this place as it looked like a solid place from what we saw online. Looks we're definitely deceiving. First it's located right in the casino floor with only a railing to separate dining from gambling so it's not a quiet experience. The drinks we ordered were way over poured and we had to be diluted to make them drinkable. My sushi roll looked beautiful, but rather bland with very little flavor. My wife's teriyaki steak was ordered medium rare, and was delivered well done/dry, the veggies were mushy, and her rice was overcooked as well.
