Excited to find a good spot for authentic SL food! I'm from Austin and we don't have an option there. Great selection of packaged goods to take home and hoppers, Patties, egg rolls we ate were delicious!!

Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. They also have many Sri Lankan grocery items. Makes me wish i lived in Houston so I could eat here more often!

A food truck with Sri Lankan street food! Houston, you've definitely made your mark as a world class foodie town. Conveniently parked by Westheimer, this food truck is brand new. So it'll take a little time for them to settle in. I recommend taking out to go. But you can eat there too as they have a couple of tables outside. The portions are huge and they'll make it to suit your tolerance for spicy food. (But this food taste better spicy) The food is great. Hot Kottu Roti is great with an ice cold beer. (No they don't serve beer there) Have tasted the string hoppers with coconut sambal was pretty good. The lamb fried rice is a hit. Awesome array of pastries too. We'll be stopping by here often!

Sri Lankan food here is the bomb! Cutlets and rolls are amazingly flavorful and with the right amount of spicy kick. Biryani and kottu were so good.

Kothu rotti, string hoppers with Kiri odi and pol sambol..tasted awesome!!

Food was super delicious! We ordered fish buns and rolls with string hoppers and Kothu roti..it tasted like food in Lanka! Amazing...cant wait for their grand opening next month :))

Delicious authentic Sri Lankan food! It is part of a mini mart and with home cooked Sri Lankan dood. The owners are very friendly too. I recommend the chicken or mutton kottu, the hoppers, the devilled dishes or any of the curries. We will definitely be going back often!

Spring rolls are awesome with accompanying chutneys.

Stop here on my way to Galveston beach. Good authentic Sri Lankan food. Portions are big and flavor was 8/10. Spicy. You should try it out

The shopping center is fairly small with limited parking, and unfortunately there isn't much shade, so it can get extremely hot. One thing to note is that they're closed on Tuesdays. Ordering was simple. You grab a menu, place your order at the register, and our food arrived in about five minutes. Before ordering, I clearly requested no cilantro on everything because I have a cilantro allergy. Unfortunately, the complimentary papdi chaat came out covered in cilantro. I had to send it back to be remade, which was frustrating since food allergies should be taken seriously. The thali itself was good. It had a nice level of spice, came with three chapatis, rice, and a good variety of curries. At $11.99, I thought it was a good value. As for the papdi chaat, I still prefer Shiv Sagar's version. It has a more generous portion of potatoes and chickpeas, and if I remember correctly, it's also about a dollar cheaper. My only other disappointment was the loyalty program. I asked to join when paying, but was told that I should pay first. Once paid, the transaction had already been completed and it won't let me join. Perhaps they think we are a one time customer, so why join the program? Overall, I'm glad I gave this place a try and found another Indian restaurant in the Gandhi District. I'd definitely come back for the thali, but I hope they improve their attention to food allergies and make the loyalty program process more welcoming.

Their longevity (#1) of a near half century is nothing short of impressive, earning a nostalgic place in the hearts of many Houston diners, a good number of whom trace their first Indian cuisine experiences at this very location. While I do wish their success, it's hard not to point out minor mishaps in different aspects of the overall restaurant experience, which include: :: Awkward stares from the staff as they hover or stand in the middle of the room. It's understandable that they're monitoring to help where needed, but even then I will have to flag them down for water, napkins, or the bill. :: Buffet maintenance. They're semi-quick to replenish, but extremely slow at maintaining the cleanliness. Splatter from the daal makhani, a serving spoon not returned to the same serving tray, or even customers forgetting to close the bins at the dessert station (#2) could all be mitigated by a designated person keeping it tidy. :: Food quality. The tandoori chicken has been dry, the saag paneer could be creamier, and chicken tikka masala has had their bland days. Even the naan can be a bit too dry at times. Thankfully I've fared better with the chana masala and paneer makhani. I would also steer clear of their fruit punch. :: Decor is dark and dated. It still reminds me of a place that is stuck in time, which for most experiences are usually my favorite. The natural lighting during lunch alleviates this slightly, but the dinner hour makes this place feel like eating in an older hotel lobby. The vibes are most definitely challenging. :: Foodflation. Another price hike in the last year brings the buffet price to just under $22. While it's a nice jump from what it was previously, it does leave me wishing for more, especially when the prices keep climbing. ___________ (#1) 46 years. As no foreigner to Indo/Pak Cuisine, I had my mind set to try a Beef Boti Roll (mild) on "Paratha" bread - a toasty flaky flat bread housing several large chunks of savory beef marinated in Pakistani spices, diced onion and cucumber with a hint of ketchup and two sauce containers of a basalmic dressing and a thinner mint yogurt sauce to dip or our. This roll is also available and freshly made Naan. This roll is about 8" long. Everything is cooked to order - every order taking about 15 to 20 minutes to prepare. If you are in a hurry, make sure that you order ahead. I also want to add that they make a limited amount of marinated beef for boti and only had one order left enough for me to be able to try it. First, I noticed that the staff handling food behind the counter were not wearing gloves. Hygiene is important, especially when preparing and serving food, and it was concerning that no one appeared to be following proper food safety practices. At that time, the rotisserie was already being cleaned, which told me they had stopped preparing fresh chicken for the day. Instead, they were serving pre-cooked chicken kept in a warmer. As expected, this made the chicken dry and hard on the outside. I ordered the 1/2 dark meat chicken with yellow rice and Tequeños. However, I was given two small leg quarters and an extra piece of white meat--which I didn't ask for--all of which were extremely dry. The portion size has noticeably decreased as well. I was also very concerned to see them using spray cleaner near the food, which poses a risk of chemical contamination. On top of that, the Tequeños were extremely dark and tasted like they had been refried, nearly burnt. Adding to the poor experience, one of the girls behind the counter was playing around and massaging her coworkers while customers were being served. That level of unprofessional behavior is not something anyone wants to see while waiting for their food. I've always liked this place for its fresh rotisserie chicken, but it feels like DoDo's has started cutting corners on both food quality and cleanliness. Paying $19.52 for this meal just didn't feel worth it.
