My family decided to eat here one night. We placed 1 order for 3 people. My husband and I got the same thing, 1 item plate, with orange chicken and chow mein. We ordered my toddler (3yrs old) a bowl with orange chicken and half fried rice & chow mein. We also had a side of rangoons. The orange chicken had lots of flavor and everything was served in large portions. My husband and I could've probably shared our plates and my daughter had lots left over. The rangoons were good, nothing special. My daughter liked them a lot too. Next time we'll probably only order 2 plates and share amongst the 3 of us since the portions are so large. My husband noticed that the cook came out of the back to change food trays. He took the tray of beef and broccoli that may have been sitting out a while and replaced it with a new tray. I assume this was to swap the old tray for a fresh one? Not sure but I assume (and would hope) so. They all seemed helpful and focused on orders. It wasn't extremely busy, so we got our food quickly and headed home. To compare with other restaurants in the area, this was a better choice. The other location at anaheim plaza is nicer and more accommodating. I went in there cause it's a little closer to my house but not worth it. Wouldn't let me order my food together, just gave me a big side of tofu. instead of a combo. The lady was rude, and wouldn't let me speak. Just pushed me to pay. I paid cause I ordered but I recommend the other location. I don't write negative reviews cause I can usually let the person know there and then. Hit the spot!! I was craving some tofu and decided to order from Lantern Garden. I ordered the country style tofu, and a couple other meals for the week. I got the shrimp fried rice, country style tofu, and kung pao shrimp. I skipped the appetizers and just went with entrees. The country style tofu was good. I love the firm tofu! Yummy. I enjoyed the shrimp fried rice too. That was really good and the shrimps in that were cooked perfectly. The kung pao shrimp definitely had some heat to it, but it was still good. Food here is delicious (usual fare plus a few other variables) and a great bargain. For those of you on a pre-holiday health kick (like yours truly), you can get steamed veggies as a side dish for an additional charge instead of rice/noodles, which I've also had and believe me when I tell you, it's top notch! Staff here is very welcoming and friendly and portions are generous. These mom & pop Chinese food-to-go places are plentiful here in OC, but honestly, this is the BEST I've had in Anaheim. The taste and texture of the food is not that of "been sitting under the warmer all day". The food more than does the job, especially being so reasonably priced. I was informed by management/owner that they will be adding a Mongolian BBQ station within a week and now I'm REALLY looking forward to returning! I also love the orange chicken and green bean chicken. The fried rice is tasty and also the chow mein. The egg rolls are fresh and crunchy. The won ton soup is also great. I got the house special chow mein and it was loaded with protein, I also got the orange chicken and it was coated with this great sauce. For the orange chicken there was also an option for white or dark meat, as someone who prefers white meat I thought that option was very cool and personalized. They have this spicy sauce that seems to be like a Thai chili sauce which was great with the noodles.
