First time going here last night and I was so impressed! I had the beef curry and it was a huge portion and high quality meat, veggies and curry flavor! I was full and still had enough to bring home for at least one more meal. The patrons were as friendly as the bartender Harlen and I made new local neighbor friends. The local rewards club was a sweet perk, the guy next to me ate free with his rewards. My tab was low in my opinion. This an affordable place for me to eat regularly. My Corona was $3.49! (Maybe Happy Hour prices ‍) I didn't notice the surcharge until I got home but it was only 89 cents. Nothing to get upset about. Pay cash if you don't want to be charged that. I like that option rather than raising the price of the food to cover the cost of taking credit cards. I can see myself going here at least once a week and making my way through the extensive menu. My family went there tonight. We ordered 2 dozen wings and the "ultimate mozzarella sticks. Ordered 1 dozen buffalo style wings. They came out, no flavor with hot sauce; very bland. Ordered 1 dozen dry rubbed wings, came out flavorless. Worst wings l've ever eaten. Deep fried mozzarella were less than ultimate; they lacked cheese. Service is A+ 5 star. Loved our server! She was amazing! Food not so much. The place is in a historic building but this restaurant honestly needs a clean up. The rooms are disjointed and confusing and worn down. It smelled like a bar on Sunday morning when the crew arrives to clean up. As for food - My parents ordered breakfast bomb burger med rare and it came dry and tough without flavor. They shared and still didn't finish it. I had chili and a wedge. My family and I ate here on Sunday for the first time. It was really good. We had the pretzel with beer cheese for an appetizer the cheese was so good and pretzels were hot and fresh! My aunt and I both got the Hanger steak tips and the portion was so big we could have shared it. It was delicious too! Good home cooked food! Our waitress was really nice and on top of things. As a chef I am a nit picker . By all means this is a great casual Restaurant / Tavern so the Dining room was a little loud from the tavern side crowd. However it was very warm relaxing decor pleasing dark lighting (My favorite) and comfortable. Servers could have been more knowledgeable about the menu but was a very pleasant young lady. 3/4 meals were great one was average at best ( easily fixed) not a quality issue. So, I've now been here twice for dinner. First time, food was great, service was friendly, attentive and efficient. We had the Fish & Chips (excellent); Not Your Grandma's Meatloaf (also excellent) and a Burger. Drinks were good, although I was a little disappointed with my Watermelon Martini, I think there was a little too much sour in it. Second time: Appetizer: pistachio encrusted brie. The pistachio crust was very thick, completely burying the brie (which was a little on the small side) and the crust was almost completely burnt. There was some apple "slaw" on the plate, which was quite tasty and had a little bite to it. The homemade raspberry jam was very good. The parmesan chips it was served with were super tasty, but it should have been served with something plain (not cheesy to overpower the brie). Overall, if the crust wasn't so thick and overcooked this would have been a great appetizer with a good value for what the cost. My dining companion had the Fish & Chips, again, an excellent choice -- she ordered the kids portion ($2 upcharge for an adult portion of this was definitely worth the $$) and opted for the side of fruit (which was supposed to be berries, but it was never delivered despite multiple "reminders" and we were finally told they were out of fruit -- two minutes later a very nice young man brought over a plate of cut up oranges, but since we were done with our meals, was declined) . I ordered the Shrimp & Grits. The shrimp were nicely grilled, with a slight char. The grits tasted like they were from a box, salty and barely cheesy. The tomato salsa was the biggest disappointment because it was MEXICAN.....not the savory tomato-y sauce you would expect to be served to compliment this dish. We also placed a food order to go. Burger (again) and Fish & Chips. The Burger was cooked to order (medium) and nicely presented with the add-ons requested. The Fish & Chips are a definite hit for this place. The homemade tarter sauce was excellent, The cole slaw it was served with was way over salted and not eaten because it was unpalatable. Our server(s) both times, were friendly, efficient and attentive. I wish they offered sandwiches other than just the burger at dinner, but those only appeared on the lunch menu and it wasn't clear if you could order them at dinner time too. We'll be back to try their breakfast menu and likely be back for dinner again too, even if we go for the only sure bets (so far) of Burgers, Fish & Chips and the Meatloaf. read more

Typical neighborhood bar vibe - good music classic and soft rock favorites. We started with the deviled eggs and a Greek salad . 3 eggs topped w bacon - my partner loved them . Greek salad was awesome - big enough to share among 2 for meal or 3 people as an aide salad and loaded with olives, tomato, feta , red onion , and dressed just right . The bucatini carbonara was delicious - peppery and more than enough even though it's an appetizer for happy hour . Could have been warmer though. We shared raspberry cheesecake for dessert and it was great . Generous slice and the raspberry sauce was perfect . Actually looked like crushed raspberries, not just syrup , and not too sweet . Real whipped cream also on the side . Waitress was attentive and friendly , replacing silverware between courses - a nice touch for a bar . Prices are reasonable . The only thing I disliked were the tables in bar area are made of slats , and there is no way to clean them properly . The actual dining area and covered indoor patio area have flat tables . I've gone to Lantern a few times since it's opened, always sitting at the bar. The last 2 times I went I had the pleasure of being served by Wendy. Both times she was friendly, always smiling, and the service was prompt. All of these things you expect when you go into a restaurant or bar. What I didn't expect was how she just made you feel so comfortable. Wendy is a joy to talk to. I asked for her schedule so I can be sure to come back when she is working. We had dinner here for the second time last night I had the Friday special, 14.99 for a rack of baby back ribs. The fell of the bone and were delicious. Last night we went to The Lantern local Tavern. I couldn't believe when I learned it was only open for a week because the three people I went with including myself not only enjoyed everything we ordered but the staff was so friendly and did their job well. The table ordered some specialty drinks they were so good my favorite was the watermelon martini with watermelon pulp and a fresh wedge of watermelon on top it was perfect. We ordered The Brie-lliant and The Dip & Crostini ( found my favorite dip!) I ordered the Chicken & Bacon the chicken was so juicy and had a delicious glaze the green beans were so fresh & cooked perfectly my husband ordered the Pork Chop what a nice thick cut with a wonderful flavor we also shared a Greek salad that was so delicious. We topped off our dinner with a bourbon cake that we all loved. We will definitely be back it has such a cozy comfortable atmosphere, what a great addition to our neighborhood so happy.
