My husband took me here for dinner on Monday night! It is a super cute and yummy place. We ordered the roasted artichoke and garlic bread appetizer and they were tasty but why I loved even more then those was the roasted garlic we ordered to put on our bread literally to die for!!! My husband ordered the sampler which was two different types of shells and some baked penne pasta and I ordered half penne and half cheese ravioli and my goodness they were both fantastic. I don't usually eat leftovers but I sure did eat these leftovers. If your in the area I highly suggest coming and trying their delicious food. read more

Location, location, location!!! That's all this place has. Overpriced like everything but as long as it's good imo. No! Very bland tasting. The service also wasn't the best. Not the worst, but also not the best. Lacking just a little. Wanted to come here a couple times since I'm staying at a resort down the block, but no thanks. I will say ambiance wasn't bad and the higher up booths are nice. So I'll give it two stars for that. read more

Bada Bing! We eat here every time we're in Tahoe, sometimes twice. So, figured I'd update my bi-annual review. This place is old school and excellent. The lumaconi, the alfredo, their so-good-they'll-sell-you-a-bottle-of-it-when-you-leave creamy Italian dressing. The bar is just right, and every time I've been there, there's been a ballgame on. We ordered the minestrone soup on Saturday night and it was absolutely fabulous! What a perfect meal on a cold snowy night. I actually think it was one of, if not the best minestrone soups I have ever tasted. We also ordered the house salad with the added Gorgonzola and loved every bite. We took it to go and it was packaged well, not a drop spilled on the way home. Definitely going to be back for that delicious soup! I swear it was really that good! read more

This is really just an unfettered thank you to Lanzas continuing to be open during this time of pandemic. In this small town, takeout options have been limited and variable. Lanzas has remained such a comforting staple in our weekly dinner regimen. The quality of food and service continues to impress me, and I always feel like family. My most recent takeout meal was an order of Baked Penne and the baked Artichoke appetizer. We also got a bottle of Montevina Zinfandel "for the road". Been to Lanza's several times over decades, though a few years since our last visit. Service was excellent last night and ambience was familiar, cozy and friendly. Unfortunately the food was hit and miss, surprisingly disappointing. As usual very large portions. You might consider sharing if ordering entrees. Would not recommend the fried ravioli appetizer. Dried out. Also not recommending the stuffed shells with Alfredo sauce, or raviolis with Alfredo sauce - primarily because the sauces, including the marinara, seemed from a jar, as commented from the Italians in our party who had the Alfredo. No flavor, sticky and ploppy! Just Bad. The pasta itself was ok. The marinated chicken seemed precooked, not crisp and was dry , served in a dish with a marinade/broth in it. I removed it from the marinade dish to eat. The chicken picatta, and garlic cheese bread were the two winners of the table. So I'll leave it with that. Will we be back? I'm being generous on the rating for three reasons: - Food service is hard. People here are also working hard. - It was Friday night so possibly busier than normal - Food is tasty The place is chaos at the front desk. I ordered 5 items via phone at 550pm and was told 30 mins. Showed up at 625pm and told food will be another ten minutes. Did not leave with food until 7pm. A lady came in while I was waiting and picked up her food after ordering it just 25 mins earlier. The front desk was no help. I asked another waiter (I thought he was manager because he was helping the kids at the front desk.) He acted offended that I was curious on the status of my order after an hour. Food finally came out and it looked hastily thrown together in a box. I.E Slices of bread (enough for five) set on top of the food cartons in the box, not even covered. We had a similar issue when we ordered take out last year in June. The food is good but not worth this hassle. Plenty of good options in North Shore... read more

We arrived at 7:30. Host ( tall blonde ) told us it would be 30 minute wait. We went to the bar & ordered drinks & appetizers. The bartenders were amazing (half shaved head)!! They gave recommendations & made good conversation. We didnt get seated after an hour. The male bartender who went on break realized we had been sitting for so long so we went & got us situated. We put in our order after an hour of waiting & then didnt receive out food until 2 hours of us being in the establishment. The food was amazing!!! We ordered the cheese ravioli with garlic butter sauce. A side of meat sauce, pesto penne, & chicken marsala & it was all so good!! 10/10 food & bartenders but minus 2 stars for the wait & host. read more

If you are near Kings Beach, stopping in at Lanza's is a must. This Italian restaurant has been here since 1974. We were greeted immediately upon walking in. Put our name on the list and we were overcome with the smells of garlic and Italian goodness. As soon as we were seated we were given water and fresh bread with whipped butter. So good! Gave this Italian restaurant a try after a cold day in the snow. Boy am I glad we did. We got there at 5:30 which was clearly prime time. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, however enjoyed a drink in the bar. There is plenty of seating as well as drink options. They serve beer, wine and cocktails. (Happy Hour ends at 6pm) I ordered a Gin and Tonic with Hendricks with 2 slices of orange. The bartender was really nice. We also orders an appetizer at the bar. He brought it out along with extra bread. After being seated, our server made some recommendations. We all orders meat ravioli with difference sauces and added side meat. We also tried a cheese pizza with extra pepperoni. The pizza was a little small, but delicious. House made New York Cheesecake was for desert. It was good-- not dense but not fluffy. A little more on the sour cream taste... not my favorite but my husband really enjoyed it. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a hearty meal. I've been coming to Tahoe my entire life, north shore specifically and only in the past year have I eaten at Lanzas. One time with my BF in the restaurant and most recently we had a to-go order for 13 people. They are one of the only restaurants that stay open later too. The portions are huge and the options are many. I highly recommend stopping by when you're in town. I had the calamari steak with a code of veggies and pasta and it was tasty. Very tender and I loved the artichoke hearts on top. read more

My friends & I were there for dinner last Thursday night There were 6 of us & we sat at a large table in the bar area because the NFLgame was on. We were served by Melinda who was the bartender as well. She was delightful as well as professional! The drinks were perfect and the meals were delicious. We all agreed the green salad that accompanied each of our meals was the best we've ever had! The food at this restaurant absolutely sucks out loud. We were seated quickly, as there weren't many other patrons present. We were brought water and bread/butter while we waited for our server. Our server came to take our appetizer order promptly and was nice enough, but fairly awkward. We ordered the calamari. The calamari came much faster than expected, which should have been a sign not to order anything else and just leave. Sadly , we did not. The calamari was pretty gross. Very bland, and fishy. Squeezing lemons over barley helped. I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce, gf ordered the Lanza sampler. We chose minestrone soup with our meals... another bad decision. Another bland item to add to the list. Then came the main course... boy, I wish I could say something good. ALL the pasta had a weird texture. All the sauces tasted bad. This is when I realized... NONE of this food is fresh. This is all pre prepared and has been sitting. Only decent items on the menu were the butter for the bread and the water. We were hoping for at least a halfway decent Italian meal and were extremely disappointed. Paid a premium for garbage food. Dumping a ton of Parmesan cheese on the food made it swallowable. We came here with 10 of our friends back in August to celebrate my fiancée and my's engagement and had the most incredible experience. We were a huge party to seat and they sat us pleasantly and immediately. The drinks were excellent and the food was incredible. We couldn't get over how large the portions were! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to us. We even saw the manager bringing out food & beverages and checking in on us to help our server out, which we thought was awesome! After dinner, we all indulged in dessert (which they brought by to celebrate our engagement on the house) and couldn't have had a better experience. Love this restaurant for many reasons- delicious soup and pasta, proximity to ski resorts, cozy atmosphere, plenty of large group seating, free bread. Stopped by after a day on the slopes at Northstar, and this might become my go-to for many ski weekends to come. Arrived a bit after the restaurant opened but still managed to get a table for 7, and we were promptly given bread as we decided what to order. Portions are generous and pastas come with delicious side of soup (or salad). The lasagna was mediocre to me, but the lumaconi is both a unique and delicious offering. Felt like an extremely family restaurant too with color activities available for kids. read more

If old school Italian joints are your thing, then Lanza's is your spot! Every time I walk into Lanza's I'm hit with the mouth-watering aromas of garlic and marinara! Great food and portions! You will not walk away hungry! One of my favorite memories of Lanza's was having dinner & wine with good friends being seated at a window table adorned with the classic red and white checkered table cloth during a winter storm with a light snow falling outside! Perfect cozy setting for a phenomenal evening of Italian food, laughs with friends, and a great glass of Sangiovese in hand (Noceto, I believe)! Doesn't get any better! My go-to dishes are the Chicken Parmigiana, Lasagna, Lanza's sampler, and the garlic cheese bread. They also have a great house salad dressing too (can't go wrong adding the Gorgonzola). Lastly, super cool bar area with a gold classic car (dash, tail-end, and front-end with working lights) hanging from walls. Lanzas is a staple Italian restaurant in north Lake Tahoe. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Their salads and salad dressing is delicious - I have some family members that will buy the salad dressing from lanzas because it's so tasty. I can't speak to service, as I often to take out, but they are very easy to get ahold of and phone orders are consistent and great. It's worth checking out! Make sure to try the cheesy garlic bread. read more

Overall the food was "ok" ...meh The waiter recommended the chicken piccata ---it was ok but would have been better if served hot. The salad was good.. Fresh greens and famous dressing was tasty. The bread was warm and acceptable Italian bread nothing special..butter soft and good. I ordered chicken parmesan and received veal ..which the waiter abruptly took away I would've kept the veal.
