WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. The manager has piss-poor business etiquette and the staff is unfit to serve, considering the language barrier. The waitress communicated one price to me for a menu item and management communicated another price when it was time to pay. After showing the manager written proof (waitress's handwriting on the menu) that the waitress quoted a different price, the manager shrugged her shoulders and said she wouldn't change it. She, then, told me to call the police. I couldn't believe it. Once police arrived, she adjusted the bill...such a complete waste of time on a mistake that THEY made. So good! Every time I come here I never leave disappointed. Highly recommend the tom yum flavor and to get medium spice. If it isn't spicy enough you can always add more but if you get high spice you can't take away the spice if it's too spicy. My cousin made the mistake once when we went but they were very nice about replacing it with medium. read more

Honestly, I usually have the best time here. It's nice to be able customize my pot how I want it and I love the variety. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 is one waitress in particular we didn't care for. She was very unattentive and it wasn't even busy when we were there. That's probably my only complaint. Service was TERRIBLE. The menu was impossible to mark, so we called the waiter to help explain how to select the broths/spice level/single or split. After walking through the menu and submitting our order, two brotha were completely wrong! We received the spiciest broth and after arguing for another 10 minutes we finallly received our order. This is the only hot pot place in metro detroit that I know of and it is pretty impressive for just being opened. This is owned by the same people who run 168 Asian Market just nearby the restaurant. Pricing is pretty fair, a table of five we definitely ordered a variety just to try everything and the bill was ~$110(not everything was pictured it came out in parts so we started eating), so roughly $22 per person. The sliced lamb and pork were my favorites out of the meats, although none were bad. As for seafood, we did not try a lot besides the shrimp and clams and those were okay. Their lunch combos are also super convenient, served with the broth, meat, veggies and rice or noodles. Obviously the protein that comes with it is smaller but good to order for a first time to try a bit of everything. Since they just opened their full menu is not available which is expected but I think I would have enjoyed it more if the full menu was available. -1 star because ordering was not explained to us, we just received the paper menu and assumed to circle what we wanted (like ordering at a sushi place). If it was explained to us at first then maybe there would be no confusion. Overall review, pretty good for a soft opening week and I look forward to experiencing the full menu and am extremely happy to have a hot pot place near me. Probably a place I will frequent when friends are in town - definitely a cool experience and hopefully they'll have the large pots available then as well. read more

If you are familiar with the usual portions at hot pot establishments, basically take that expectation and divide it by 4, and THAT'S the quantity you'll get here at the same price point. I really wish this place was an all you can eat place. But I understand if you're the only local competition, you can afford to pump up the prices and lessen the portion sizes. If you order quail eggs at any other hot pot place, you get a bowl full. Here, you get 6. The slices of fish were amusingly thin. The small corn pieces are split into 4 quarters. This trend applies to all meats and seafood too. The only ingredients that didn't come out in skimpy proportions were the vegetables (watercress, chrysanthemum, spinach, mushroom, cabbage). Food aside, it's a new business, so it's understandable that the ordering system seemed chaotic, the service was slow, the hot pot broth refills were infrequent, ingredients ordered were missed. I am sure this will get perfected over time. And I'm sure I will be back, because honestly, I love hot pot. read more

Had came here yesterday with a bunch of my friends and my experience was just terrible. This is my second time coming here and I thought it'd be better the second time since I was with my friends, but no, it was just as bad. I had ordered two orders of popcorn chicken and my girlfriend had noticed that one of the pieces was still pink inside. We told a server about the issue and all we got was an "okay okay" and she never even looked at the meat. We asked for them to just take it off the bill because there were more pieces that were pink. The server had come back later on with another order but we never touched it. In the hour and half that we'd had been there, not once was my water refilled nor were any of our plates taken away. When it had come to pay, I noticed the chicken was still on the bill, so I brought it up again. The server then took the bill, and I heard her say something about the chicken from the cash register. We went to the front and a new lady had told me the same price, which meant nobody took off the freaking popcorn chicken that I had asked about two times already. I understand an 18% gratuity since we had a big table, but did our server really deserve it since all they did was take the order and drop off our food? In the end, all I have to say is that the food is alright but the service is actually just terrible. read more

Ordered two broth hot pot. Flavor was okay, not great. Ordered meatballs, beef, noodles, etc... I had been to numerous hotspots places throughout states and other continent. Atmosphere is great but I can't justify the price for their food. Even veggies are a la carte? I encourage others to checkout other hotpot places when you go out of town. I won't go back to the place. I would rather recommend to go to fuji (probably the same owners) next door rather than going to this place. The first hot pot place in the area and it's setting the bar high. I've been here multiple times since they've opened and I cannot get enough. The seafood is extremely fresh. Highly recommend the homemade shrimp balls. The sauce bar is amazing and gives you the option of endless combinations. The menu is not as difficult as everyone who leaves a low star rating claims, you literally mark off what items you want. That's it. We've been lucky enough to have Shelly as our server every time. She's on top of everything we need and always provides exceptional service. She even made us her own delicious dipping sauce. She's a sweetheart. I hope they stay up and running forever. read more

Ambience is so nice until you look at the menu. Then it gets worst after you ask questions about the steps on how to order the food. The waitress was very rude. Saying, "listen to me" when asked if she can repeat herself because we could not make out what she was saying was not only a red flag, its like the beacon flashing in a dark night when you're lost at sea. I tell you, constructing a kitchen from Ikea wouldve been easier. Anyhoo, so after the mini presentation of the sequence of ordering, we finally decided on our soup base. We added an order of chicken and beef barbecue but the waitress told us they don't have those anymore , and THAT was a big "oh hell no" sign so we decided to just pay for the drinks and leave. But wait! The waitress said she already placed the soup base order and we cannot cancel it. Apparently their high tech iPads prepared it in one click so it was ready. At this point, we asked if we they can just put it in a soup container so we can take it home. The waitress said that's not their policy. So we asked to speak to the manager. The manager, who i saw was also serving patrons...aka waitress #2, said the same thing. I said you want us to pay for food we cannot consume? So our voices went falsetto while they kept saying "its their policy", like it was a bad scene from a Chorus Line. This place is bad, bold, and butt ugly. Beware. read more

Noticing this place with eye-catching lighting at night piqued my curiosity. This is my first time trying Chinese hot pot so I needed some guidance. The server assigned to our table has difficulty communicating in English. I am a very understanding person so I just tried to guessing. It would have been nice from the management if there was instruction on the menu on how the ordering process should be done let alone giving tips on how long individual items should be cooked in the broth. Also, it would have been nice if the server mentioned that here was a sauce bar in the hallway. The 2-broth option I ordered tasted the same - both were really spicy. I wonder if there was a confusion in the kitchen for this. We ordered the beef and pork slices, shrimps, squid, scallops, tripe, and bok choy. The meat slices reminds of those served at Korean restaurants. Everything was just okay, nothing remarkable, except the tripe that after more than half an hour in the hot broth remained tough. Apparently, it is one of those ingredients that need intense boiling for much longer time. The price could easily add up the way the ordering was set up (a la carte). Now that I've tried it, its novelty has waned. I think I will stick with the time-tested Korean hot pot and barbecue places in Troy. read more
