This place doesn't stand by their word. If you're going to eat breakfast and you pay your money for breakfast that comes with orange, apple & cranberry with juice. They should make sure the juice machine is working. And if it's down. They should accommodate you with something else to drink. Like; milk (white/chocolate), coffee, pop (soda) tea, lemonade. I used to love going to the buffet's in college since once price gets you like 10 zillion dishes. Haven't been to an American style one in years, and I figured it was time. So, my friend and I met up to check this place out. The visit overall was good. We were there for lunch, so I guess there's a lunch menu and a dinner menu. We did a tour of all the food first, so we could make decisions about what we wanted and such. They have a decent salad bar, a great selection of items that looked good and seemed to be mostly stocked. No sad looking food here. But, I noticed a few things as I looked closer. First, the rolls were almost always out. Couldn't find butter and had to ask. The taco area was extremely limited in offerings of toppings, and I had to hit the salad bar area just to get sour cream. No shredded cheese available, tomatoes were chunky for salads but not small enough for tacos. They need to do better on that part. I love to dress up my tacos! Our server was pretty efficient and checked in on us to make sure we had our plates cleared along with drink refills. Also, it was impossible to find silverware! My friend found it somewhere. UGH the pot roast used to be soo amazing I would order it in place of trying to cook one myself. We have ordered single meals as well as one to two whole roasts off of the catering menu. The last time we ordered a whole roast we received a small amount of potatoes and carrots and minimal gravy with the roast too. The roast also lacked any seasoning. Even salt alone would have worked. 2019-10-05 Golden Corral Buffet and Grill. Clinton Twp, MI. When you have larger groups, it's difficult to find a place that accommodates everyone both physically and gastronomically. Golden Corral Buffet and Grill is one of the few such places up by M-59 that can handle larger groups and provide a variety of foods. Located in the plaza at the southeast corner of Hayes and Hall roads, Golden Corral is a standalone building west of the Golfsmith. Free parking is shared among the businesses in the plaza and there is plenty of it. Golden Corral is an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) establishment serving a American Fare. I generally do not dine at buffet restaurants, but find myself coming back over and over again when we have large groups (20+). Even then, the party needs to be split into two large tables (kids in one group, adults in the other), but that works out as our kids can fend for themselves while we turn a blind eye to their binge on sweets. Pricing differs depending on the meal and so does the bill of fare. Dinner will typically run you $15 for adults and $9 for kids aged 9-12, and $8 for kids aged 4-8. Kids 3 and under are free. Beverages are bottomless and are around $3. With dinner, there is usually more expensive proteins; steaks or roasts, hams or ribs. They also have discounts for seniors, and dinners provide the most benefit. If you want to pick up to-go meals, you can build your own as well and prices are by weight ($7/lb) which is on par with other AYCE establishments. As with all AYCE places, you'll never eat enough to recoup your money, and you shouldn't. For me, AYCE is about the variety, never about the quantity. By about my 3rd visit, I pretty much exhausted their offerings, despite them adding new dishes. Their fares are exactly as advertised. Good ole American food. Grilled, baked, fried, steamed, sautéed, and of course, deep fried. What impressed me the most was their fresh salads and fruits. Yes, they had some canned fruit in the mix as well, but those were understandable as fruits are seasonal and often canned and sold. On the dessert front, there was a variety of cakes, pies, tarts, cookies, and other sweet treats. They even have soft serve, a chocolate fountain, and cotton candy. Since the menu does change and vary, it won't be much use in providing detailed feedback. But overall, their food is OK. It's decent value for what you pay, and there's plenty of variety so everyone is sure to find something. The most popular item is probably their southern fried chicken. Every visit, I see people waiting in line for the next tray to come out. I did try this and it's pretty good. There's lots of breading, but it's crispy and crunchy. Veggies are a tough sell, as its hard to elevate them. They were your typical overcooked variety, with the exception of the sautéed mushrooms and onions. But those are popular and go fast as well. On the grill, meats are cooked to order, so if you're there for dinner, you can have it your way. Overall, it's not a place I'd typically dine at. But for larger groups, the venue fits the bill. The place gets pretty noisy, and fills up quickly for dinner. Despite that there may be times when you see a mess on the floor or you're waiting for clean plates to come out, the place is pretty well run. There is sufficient staff and they're all working hard to keep the food coming out and the dining area clean. I see management constantly surveying the restaurant in attempt to keep everything running smoothly, so I applaud them for that; it's just difficult when messes are being made faster than they can be cleaned. All in all, 3 stars overall. I will most likely continue my patronage here with large groups. The food is ok, and the prices won't break the bank. Tip: if you're a Costco or Sam's club member, you may be able to find some gift cards that will net you a 20% discount ($50 GC for $40), so check them out if you plan to go (or if you're a regular and you want to stock up!) I can not say anything positive about the Golden Coral Restaurant in Clinton Twp based on my last trip there last Friday 12, 2019. In my opinion, the dinner is overpriced, the men's restroom was not clean, they did not refill the broccoli soup in the soup and salad area while I was there over an hour, the hush puppies were under cooked so on and so forth. We have went to this location and many more in our travels. I can tell you that my recent visit was one of my worst visits ever. They did not have a very fresh or good selection of food. And the the staff behind the counter were fighting out loud. I felt very unsafe and worried that I was going to see a fight brake out. My Waite staff was rude and looked at me as if I was nuts asking for a refill of my drink. I always tip well but could not see fit to for the service I received. All of the GC I have visited in many more states are so much cleaner, better staffed, and much more selection, and more professional then this location!
