Overall I would say it was a solid but not exceptional experience. I ordered the papaya salad (spicy), which I did thoroughly enjoy. I will absolutely admit that I am not an expert on papaya salads (this only being the second time I've had one), but it came out slightly more room temperature than I think was best for it. The taste and everything else was superb though and all the vegetables tasted fresh! The spice level was perfect for me specifically, any more spicy and I think I would've struggled eating it, and any less I would have been a bit disappointed. Definitely a lot more manageable than most other south East Asian places, so order based on how you feel like your spice tolerance is typically and you should be fine. I wasn't the biggest fan of the interior or the atmosphere in general (which is a bit ironic since they were straight up playing some of my favorite artists) but that could absolutely just be down to personal preference. Service was great, the person who brought our food was extremely receptive and was on top of refilling our waters, but due to how the restaurant works we only had a brief word with a different server when we sat down about how to order when I really wanted to ask for opinions on what to order and how spicy their dishes were. Overall still a great experience and would probably be down to try out more of their dishes in the future!
I came here for a late lunch with a few of my co workers. When you enter, you grab a table and there is a QR menu on the table. The QR menu allows parties to pay as one big bill or split based on what they ordered individually via phone. The lunch portion was decent sized . I ordered the lao'd jerky lunch that had a side of papaya salad, cheese roll, and sticky rice. The sticky rice is very dense, the papaya salad had a slight kick to it. The meat was sweet and not too tough. overall, the dish was good. The sticky rice was different. I had had the strawberry lycée drink. It was really good but maybe too much ice. Staff was nice and quick. The food came out very quickly too. There's free parking out front.
Soooo so good. Definitely go here! We got so many dishes and split them amongst a big group so I definitely recommend that so you can try more! My favorites were the crack belly and steak tiger cry. Absolutely do not skip those dishes! The only thing I wouldn't get next time is the curria tacos. They were still really good and made on fresh roti, but I'd just wanna try more next time! Everything came out so fast, and it wasn't busy at all. Super casual but super good. Will be back!
... Got some to-go Thai food. My Thai generally surrounds around Tofu fried rice, and a curry rice. This time it was green curry. Green curry has the sprouts, kaffir like greens, and some veggies. They gave red peppers on the side to add for that more spicy kick. Ate the curry with the fried rice instead of the regular jasmine rice, liked that combination a little. Also got the Papaya salad, which is also so typical to Thai restaurants and one of my favorites. Its crunchy and just the right spice. V yummy. Service was fast and good. Restaurant is pretty well maintained.
Ambiance -good Order process - scan to order -good and easy- no wait for server and no pressure to order or add order Food 2/10 all 3 dishes taste were off from what we like ( or used to) - too sweet for all 3, food are dry and hard- noodle was sticky and hard, rice was dry, basil chicken was dry. Food temperature was not hot enough either they let it sit for a long time or they premade. Even the fish sauce on the side was sweet. Parking- small very tight and crowded.
Pretty authentic Lao food! I went with my Lao friend and tried a few of his favorite dishes. Overall, he said it was pretty authentic and the portion sizes were really good! Some of the flavors weren't as strong, but we found most of the dishes we ordered to be tasty. We got the Lao'd sausage, Nam khao, drunken noodles, and khao piak sen. Definitely order the Nam Khao and skip the Khao Piak Sen! - Lao'd sausage (3.8/5): The Lao'd sausage came with a side of sticky rice and some kind of spicy sauce. It was really fun to eat and flavorful. The sausage was fatty and had a good texture with chunky bits inside. I've tried Lao sausage before and found that others were more juicy and spicy, so I did find this one to be a bit lackluster in comparison. - Nam khao (crispy rice) (4.4/5): This was by far my favorite dish. The texture was amazing, it was filled with so many crispy pieces and paired really well with the crunchy lettuce. Flavor wise, I thought it was missing something because I heard it was suppose to be pretty sour and spicy, but after my friend asked for extra lime, it really brightened up the dish and I loved it! DEFINITELY ASK FOR LIME! - Drunken noodles (3.6/5): Pretty solid drunken noodles! I liked how the noodles weren't too broken and the sauce was kinda sweet. Also the veggies added a nice crunch and flavor. - Khao piak sen (loa chicken noodle soup) (2/5): I found this dish to be lacking in a lot of flavor, but the noodles had a very nice chewy texture. It's a very basic soup in general, so maybe it's suppose to be plain. Service/Ambiance: The restaurant ordering system was based on scanning a QR code then ordering and paying online. The atmosphere was very casual and relaxed. We would definitely come again especially for that Nam Khao.
Came in for a quick lunch with some coworkers and was impressed! Well, first off, I'm visiting from SoCal so my standards for southeast Asian food are fairly high. That said, Lao'd District would easily survive and thrive in my hometown. This place has all the flavors of Lao and Thai food and more importantly THE SPICE. We only ordered medium level spice to cater to the table but I could tell the heat was there. We ordered the green curry, pad thai, nam Khao, crispy glazed pork belly, and papaya salad. Whatever glazed they put on that pork belly, they should bottle and sell separately. It was so complimentary to the crispy pork skin without making it become soggy. The pad thai was a perfectly balance of tangy and slightly sweet. Only giving it 4 stars because the papaya salad came out a little salty but I would come back to give it another shot. The restaurant itself was open and inviting. It was noon so not too packed but I can see this place getting full for dinner. Super easy ordering and checkout with the QR code. Staff was quick and attentive. Definitely a spot to try if you're craving Lao and Thai food!
Wow!! What I can say, what an experience. It's a hip spin on a traditional family style dinning. The atmosphere was clean and very welcoming. The staff was very attentive, pleasant, and the service was right on time. The food exceeded our expectations, my husband doesn't really do off the grid that much. Needless to say we both cleaned our plates and will most definitely return! Shout out to the owners!! Amazing job!
Really nice place, they do have QR codes on the table to be able to open a tab and order for your table. So no need to wait for a waiter to take your order. Staff is super nice and extremely helpful and nice. Ordered the chicken skin, red curry, green curry and tiger cry. I really love fried Chicken skin, I've had it elsewhere I make it at home, this one was not my favorite, some pieces were ok and some were kinda plastic textured. And i feel like it was lacking in flavor but beautiful presentation for sure Green curry was really good, the texture of the beef super tender, I know it says there is eggplant but I think it was sliced too thin to contribute to over all texture a little too sweet for me but over all it was good Red curry the texture of the beef was really tender I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I know how many flavors and aromatics go into curry and the heat from Thai peppers have this hint of basil taste normally and this kind of felt like the aromatics of the lemongrass galangal kefir lime leaves was missing and the heat seemed to be more cayenne pepper that Thai pepper Tiger cry is suvide then grilled. I think mine was over grilled so instead of medium it was more like medium well to well done. And I'm use to that chargrilled flavor and it seemed like it was done on a flat top or pan. I will say their price points are a little cheaper than others where a curry here is about $14 and adding beef is $2 additional as where most places are about $4 Tiger cry running at $20.99 All reviews are based on personal preference and taste. these guys are super nice and efficient and the fact that most of their staff are in the back and they make it easy to order from the table rather than having too many servers is how they keep their so reasonable. So I would say give them shot see what you think.
the service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. prices were reasonable, and portion sizes were solid, making it a good value overall the roti was nicely layered with a satisfying char and was especially delicious when dipped into the red curry the crying tiger steak was easily the highlight of the meal. it was cooked to the perfect doneness, very tender, and had a great balance of lean and fatty pieces the drunken noodles had a great texture, not too hard or mushy, and weren't overly oily. there were plenty of vegetables mixed in, which we appreciated. however, it wasn't spicy at all :( the basil chicken was similar in that sense. the basil was very fragrant and aromatic, and there was a generous amount of meat, but again, it lacked any real spice the red curry leaned too sweet for our taste and was heavy on the coconut, which overpowered the curry flavor we were hoping for for dessert, the mango sticky rice had a strong coconut flavor and the mango itself was soft and sweet, but the sticky rice felt slightly undercooked the nam vaan was refreshing and packed with jelly and tropical fruits, making it fun to eat, but it was overwhelmingly sweet in all, the food was decent, but we were hoping for bolder flavors and more heat. the dishes could benefit from more depth, balance, and spice to really elevate the experience!
This was an interesting place. Had a very minimalistic vibe to it, but the staff was really friendly. You basically just have to order from your table using the QR code, and they bring the food out to you. But when they see you walk in, they do bring water and plates to you. I ended up getting the roti tacos. Sooo delicious! So it's kind of like a twist on birria tacos since they have the cup with the curry meat sauce on the side. Really enjoyed this, and my partner did too! I also tried the pad Thai, not bad. It was pretty standard as pad Thai goes. I can't wait to try something else here!
We took a short trip to Houston and decided to stop by this spot before heading back home. My husband and I are always on the lookout for authentic Lao food, and when we found this place on social media, we were so excited to give it a try. On the drive over, we browsed the menu and were even more thrilled to see so many traditional Lao dishes that you don't usually find elsewhere. The restaurant itself is super clean and modern, with a great ambiance. One small note--the booth seats were a bit lower than the table, so as a shorter person, I had to sit at the end to be more comfortable. The service was quick and friendly. Since it was our first time, the server walked us through the menu and helped explain everything, which we really appreciated. Here's what we ordered: Crab Papaya Salad (Tum Mak Hoong)- The portion was generous, and we loved that it came with *khao poon* (vermicelli noodles), so you could eat it like "Tum Khao Poon". That's something most places don't offer unless it's a separate dish. That said, the flavor was a little mild for our taste, we were hoping for more of that punchy, bold Lao flavor. Tiger Crying Steak (Suea Rong Hai)- This was a hit. Really well-seasoned, tender, and definitely worth ordering again. Lao Sour & Spicy Dipping Sauce (Jeow Som)- We weren't quite sure about this one. It tasted and looked more like a sweet chili sauce, almost like what you'd get with egg rolls. Not sure if it was a different version or a mix-up. Lao Sausage (Sai Gok)- It was just okay for us. A bit dry and lacking the depth of flavor we usually expect from Lao sausage. Sticky Rice (Khao Niew)- Simple but good. We appreciated that it was served in a traditional bamboo holder, which helped keep it warm. Thai Tea Flan- I didn't get a picture of this one, but it was alright. I expected it to be a little softer and jiggly. It had a strong cinnamon note at first, but the aftertaste leaned more toward the sweet, creamy Thai tea flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The place is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're craving dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. We do wish there were more Lao staff or representation, it would add an even more authentic, local vibe. Still, it's a solid spot and we're glad we made the stop!
A friend recommended Lao'd District. There were plenty of parking as well arrived early (6 pm). Please was not full and had our choice of seats. Staff came over and explained everything can be ordered online via QR code and paying via the app/website as well. We started with the Roti with curry sauce. It was tasty. We also ordered the Lao's sausages. Sausage was well seasoned. The "sauce" is one the spicy side which we liked. It also came with sticky rice that offsets the sausage's spiciness . Definitely worth trying out. We also ordered the drunken noodles and Steak Tiger Cry. Drunken noodles was good... noodles was cooked just right. Tasty as well. The star of the show was the Steak Tiger Cry that our friend recommended and did not disappoint. It is cooked rare. The meat was tender and seasoned well. Good size steak. The sauce is like chumuchuri and complements it very well. Definitely will come back to have it again. Place is clean and tables are well spaced out. You can see the kitchen behind the counter. Staff is friendly and recommended the dishes we ordered. There is also a giant display highlighting the best sellers.

First time here and was blown away!! Food was delicious and the service was amazing as well. We ordered the crack belly which the server recommended and it did not disappoint. Everything he recommended was delicious. Ordered pad Thai, crispy rice, tiger eye steak, papaya salad and the Mekong chicken wings.Thai coffee and Thai tea were great too. Highly recommend this place and bonus it's super clean and so were the bathrooms which I really appreciate. Only regret was we didn't have more room in our belly's to try all the other items. Lao and Thai fast casual fusion. You order through website / QR code so it's efficient to order and pay, especially if you're splitting the check. All the dishes were flavorful and well executed, however the pork belly / crack belly was my favorite with a sweet chili glaze. The steak tiger cry was well executed; tender medium rare, but most of the unique flavor comes from the dipping sauce. The red curry was really good. It's the same curry comes with the roti so that was delicious as well. The Thai morning glory (water spinach) was very garlicky, which was just how I like it. The Thai Tea flan was very good and had a thicker cheesecake texture. The wait staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions and were attentive bringing out food and refilling drinks. Parking can be trick as its located in a trendy center. You may end up on the second floor of the garage. read more
Food so good! Ordered the papaya salad with sticky rice, Mekong wings, and the flounder. I normally like my papaya salad dark with the stank on it so when it came to the table I was scared. But oh my gosh soo good. Ate it all and the juice. Sticky rice was good too most places I feel like is microwave... this was fresh and felt like home. The wings were good very juicy and had nice flavor. The flounder was a bit tough but I like the sauce on top. Thai green tea was also good... you can tell it's not instant powder because I left it out and it didn't separate... Also introverts dream because you can order and pay all from your phone with limited human interaction but they still do a good job at checking in and making sure you have everything you need. read more

So when it first open, I came and the food was good but great. It felt like it was missing some components and trying to figure things out. So, when I first ate there, I gave the place a 3/5. I recently went again because my friend posted the food and I was like let me give it a try and my Thai friend was in town and so I wanted her to try it. I didn't take pictures of everything bc I was so hungry. Drunken Noodles: 4.5/5, it had a the right amount of spicy, it was delicious, the noodles was mushy at all and well cooked. It was everyone's fave. Nam Khao: 3.5/5, it was good, it need more spice to it and not enough cured meat. It was like speckle of meat and it felt like I was only eat rice. It was good though, I would have made it spicer. Crack Belly: I got extra crispy. It was a fave of mine. Tangy, sweet and overall a good addition. Beef jerky:4.5/5 it was good. Not too chewy and it was tender! I loved it and it had so much flavor in it. Salt and pepper wings: 2/5, very bland, was not worth it. read more

My second visit at Lao district. I had papaya salad and Lao sausage both times and they did not disappoint! Their Lao sausage with Jeow bong sauce is so delicious. This Jeow bong sauce tasted a little different from my last visit but still got that smoky spicy kick which some of y'all might not be able to handle(hahaha). I bought few extra to keep them in my fridge to eat it with rice later. I couldn't give a five star rating for their small portion(lao sausage) for the price...nonetheless, their Lao sausage is something I would crave for time to time. I was pleased to have ran into Ricky at Tom N Toms Coffee! I'm not sure if he is the owner, but his vibe was everything. He was very down to earth as we chatted over how AMAZING the dang Chicken Pai Thai is. From the moment I opened the container the steam graced my face as the aroma from the spices hugged my nose. I felt let like the good old day when me and my friends use to hang out, gossip and eat whatever wasn't expired LOL...it gave southern comfort. Anyways okay I'm back.... I received the chicken and tofu Pai Thai which was cooked PERFECTION. The noodles were soft yet firm, chicken was moist and well incorporated in every bite giving my taste buds a run to the bowl. I enjoy all the spicy that came with this dish, it literally made me smile :) There is a not too salty combination of savory, sweet & spicy feel that shows up with love. Not to mention the slices of cucumber that add a refreshing tasty spin that's on another level. Portion size definitely leaves some for later or to share whatever tickles your fancy... The vibe inside is simple, minimal and clean. Perfect for grabbing lunch or studying. I would absolutely try again and DUH I recommend you to also to give them a taste!!!! 10/10 read more
5 Stars!!! I am SO happy that a Lao restaurant has opened here. By far, hands down the best customer service by Johnny! The food? Let me say, YUM YUM YUM!!!! The prices are REASONABLE, you get to choose your spice levels, and the quality is SUPERB! Once you enter, you're sat down at a table and everything is electronic by choosing what you want on the menu and paying it thru your phone! What a smart concept! Love it! The variety reminds me of my family's Lao cooking from back home. I highly appreciate the experience when I went with my friend. I'm recommending it to all my friends and coworkers so I will be back next week. Thank you for the exquisite cuisines and warm atmosphere. Their food is good! Their spicy levels aren't as spicy so I would suggest getting at least medium. I love the crack belly, tiger cry steak, papaya salad with crab, and drunken noodles. I would skip the mango with sticky rice. The sticky rice seemed old, the mango was over ripened so it was bitter, and the coconut cream was just awful. It was honestly the worst mango with sticky rice I have ever had but I was too nice to send it back. read more
Stumbled in here as this was one the places open on Tuesday with no expectations. This is my first time trying Lao/Thai food and I am BLOWN away. I didn't know what to order so I asked for recommendations and was told to get the crack belly, steak tiger cry and the lao'd sausage. Roti: LOVEEE the chew from the roti, it pairs well with the curry. Cracked belly: I thought this was going to be too fatty, but it's perfect. I still think about this dish. I got spicy, but I didn't feel like it was spicy, it was a pleasant little spice. Next time I'd definitely go up in spice. Lao'd Sausage: we were told to eat this with our hands, dip some sausage in the sauce, put it on a blob of sticky rice and eat with a bite of cucumber. Whatever that sauce is, IT'S SOOO good. Steak tiger cry: I am not a fan of steak, but this was soooo good. The steak was cooked to perfection and it goes well with the lime sauce. The winner here is the jasmine green tea drink! Having never craved Laotian food, or tried it, I really didn't know what to expect coming here. But I'm really glad I did. The mix of Laotian and Thai flavors, both bold and flavorful, were incredible. We had a party of 4 plus a tiny one and ordered the following: - Lao'd Sausage: 4/5 this was delicious. Think Chinese sausage but a little chewier with a nice hot dipping sauce. - Red Curry with Beef: 5/5 y'all. We got this spicy and it was SPICY. But oh so so good. It was too spicy to finish so I took the leftovers and it was just as amazing day two. Great, rich flavors. - Roti: 4/5 I feel like most roti is delicious and this hit the spot. - Crispy Pork Belly 3/5: I wasn't the biggest fan of this one. It had like a spicy sweet and sour sauce but really nothing spectacular. - Drunken Noodles 4/5: this dish was filling and had great flavor. The stir fried flat noodles was complimented perfectly by the veggies and chicken. - Thai Basil Chicken with Rice 5/5. My favorite dish. We got this last but I still loved the bold flavors of the ground chicken with basil and red peppers. I remember loving this in Thailand, so it was a bit nostalgic as well. Service was great, place was clean and the ambiance was super casual (though the Usher only playlist was a bit too much and too loud for me). Definitely will be back. read more

Great service. Although it's made to be self serve, servers still came by to help and introduce the menu. I got the red curry which had great flavor and would definitely recommend it. The chicken noodle soup (lao version) was interesting with starchy soup and chewy noodles. The Lao sausage is a must try with good herb flavor and the chili paste it came with was delicious. I love water spinach and their version is definitely on the sweeter end of the spectrum. read more

It was my first time trying this restaurant and they did not disappoint. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, everyone had a genuine smile on their face. The restaurant itself is clean and bright with some cool art/ graphics on the surrounding walls. Thai tea (4/5): It wasn't too sweet which is perfect for me. Steak Tiger Cry (4.8/5): Super juicy and flavorful, we got the fatty part of the cut so it was a bit chewy but I didn't mind. The sauce that came with it was a bit too salty though. Khao Poon (2/5): The portion was huge, but lacking in flavor. There wasn't much spice or really any depth to the flavor, it tasted watered down. Lao'd Sausage (5/5): I love the paste that came with the sausages, it paired perfectly (it might've been Tom yum paste?) I tasted a hint of lemongrass in the meat which was great. lao cuisine is one of my favorites so i've been wanting to try this spot for a while. i planned on getting a big dinner that day so my boyfriend and i decided to stop by for lunch. we ended up trying their lao sausage and the nam khao. everything was absolutely delicious! not to mention our servers were nice and the food didn't take long to come out. the restaurant itself is very clean and i didn't have a single negative experience there. can't wait to be back read more

When my bestie and I heard that a Lao restaurant is opened in Chinatown, we had to go! I was expecting to be blown away at dinner tonight based on fellow Yelpers' reviews, but boy was it a let-down! The space was definitely new, quasi-modern decor but still in the process of fine-tuning? The booth was set a little lower than usual, based on my preference. You'd order the food from the table and pay first, before they would bring the food out - so that was interesting. You would also have to get silverwares, dishes and bowls yourself from the station as well. And your payment page will still ask you about tips with 15% as the lowest recommended range -- say what?! Now onto the food - the 4 dishes we tried had nothing to write home about: - Crispy Cheese: expected something more, but likely store-bought cream cheese with carrots/canbage eggrolls. The dipping sauce was minimal - wasn't sure they needed to be stingy on that. - Khao Poon: Coconut curry broth was bland/underseasoned with the vermicelli. A little bit more fish sauce and sweetness would make it more balanced. The chicken tasted so dry - like cardboard to me though! - Nam Khao: supposedy a Laos' favorite, but I didn't like that the dish was served cold... Not sure if it should be cold, but I found it strange to eat cold crispy rice. - Crack Belly: I thought this was the best dish of the night, but my BFF thought it was just okay. I have to say the white jasmine rice was VERY dry to the piint of almost considered undercooked. And that's coming from someone who prefers dryer than wetter rice. Tl;dr: We left feeling disappointed on the quality of the food. Will still drive to Cypress area for the best authentic Laotian/Thai food though! read more

I went there when they first opened and another couple of times and it was very tasty, a little on the pricey side but good. I went back today and the food was incredible bland. Got the red curry and pad Thai and they was no flavor at all, almost like if they forgot to put basic ingredients like fish sauce and garlic. No complaints about the quality of ingredients, it's just the flavor was not there and for me is all about the taste and the flavor. Very disappointing!! read more

The customer service was really good! Not sure the name of the guy who served us but he's funny, down-to-earth, and treated us really well. It's a new cute spot that just opened up and glad we came. I ordered the crack belly, which was one of the highly recommended entrees. My sister got the sticky basil fried rice. And we both ordered the strawberry Lychee mocktail. The crack belly comes with a thick, spicy paste and the entire dish is meant to be eaten with your hands. You dip the sticky rice into the paste and bite into the meat. Love that the meat was flavorful and tender. My sister's dish, sticky basil fried rice, wasn't spicy at all even though we wanted it spicy. The rice was flavorful but the sausage was more sweet than savory. The drink was pretty good. Not too sweet. As for the atmosphere, it's pretty chill. They play music in the background and have 4 mounted TVs. Love the artwork on the wall! One thing to note for dining in is you'll have to scan the QR code, place your order, and pay via the link. Fantastic. Top to bottom. Service was extremely friendly, especially as a first time attendee, and I started with the Lao'd sausage, a must try for any newcomers, or, even for those yet to try Thai food at all. The server made sure to familiarize me with how to approach the dish (i.e. sticky rice is eaten with your hands, coupled with the sausage, chased by a cucumber) , and the food was made fresh to order in less than 10 minutes of me walking in. I followed up my appetizer with an order of Thai Basil Chicken, which features large portions, and just the right amount of spice (they offer, mild, medium, and spicy), which came to the table quite promptly as well. Also, an outstanding dish for those new to the Thai food experience as it's a simple, yet flavor packed entree. I tend to critique most Thai restaurants by their Thai Tea (rather fair or unfair ) and there's unequivocally hit the mark, which was essentially the cherry on top to complete my order. I also placed an order of Chicken Pad Thai to go, but because everything else was so exquisite, I haven't even tried it yet, but I have full faith it'll do exactly what I intended for it to do. The establishment is fairly new, (open 4 months at the time of this post as of 09/12/2023) and is located on Bellaire in Chinatown. The ambiance was also very open and modernized, and they were JAMMIN' with the 90s R&B music, which topped off my first time dining experience. I'll DEFINITELY be visiting the Lao'd District with friends next time, or I'd be doing a great disservice to them if I failed to bring anyone else here. I caught them during lunch time on a Tuesday, so it wasn't too crowded, but I'm sure it'll quickly become a popular location sooner rather than later. Amazing Lao/thai food here. Very clean and spacious restaurant in the new complex in Chinatown. You scan a QR code to place orders. I love their sausage w sticky rice. I do plan on coming back here soon. Staff was very friendly and gave recommendations if you don't know what to get. Everything I ordered was filled with flavors! Out of my dishes I ordered, the wings were my least favorite but still good! read more
Apparently it's still a soft opening and they're adjusting to customer feedback. I think everything we ordered was pretty good. Besides my steak being over cooked. You're paying entree prices for appetizer/taster sizes. Like the portions are really tiny. I think an adult should order at least two entrees to just be belly happy but your wallet would be pissed. I definitely don't think the food is good enough to pay such a high cost for a small portion. If they adjust to larger appropriate sizes for entrees I'd return. read more

I came back the fourth time. This time I ordered Laos style papaya salad with crab. Another small dish was sausage with jaew bong. Papaya salad medium spicy almost no spicy for me. If you are eating hot then order intensive spiciness because medium will not work. Other than that I like the atmosphere. The server expected you to order using app, my phone suddenly did not read their app barcode, I ended up using another server's phone to order their food. The table where I sat was loosen, I changed to a different table as for the taste..papaya salad is too sweet. This is a good place but taste can be improved! read more

The food is really good! Here are my ratings: 5/5-Crab papaya salad, large portion with eggplants and long bean. Very authentic 5/5-Lao sausage was very good. Aromatic and not dry 4/5- crispy rice lettuce wrap. Crispy but I thought the flavor could use a lil boost 4/5-Pad Thai. Not bad but I had better ones. Overall I was happy with the food. Would come back again to try other dishes. read more

It's about time I write a review. I've been here about 4 times already, and I got to say I'm satisfied every time. The customer service is also very good, and it's so easy to get substitutions as well if you want to replace something. I've been trying to try everything, but I keep getting the pad thai and Mekong wings. And if you want spicy, this is the place. Truly delicious. Very excited to have a different restaurant in Chinatown. There's many Chinese, Vietnamese places but this is a first! Laotian-Thai fusion. Wasn't sure what I was expecting but there was an explosion of flavors in everything we ordered. The Khao Poon noodle was my absolute favorite! Tried the cheese rolls, sausage (great dipping sauce), sticky rice, papaya salad (mmmmmm!), and pad Thai! You basically order from a QR code, they bring the food to you, and everything else is self-serve. The wall art is killer! Vibe is more like casual dining. Will be back soon to try the tiger cry. Also, they serve alcohol which I didn't order but looked interesting! read more

I was extremely excited to see that a new Thai restaurant was being built in the Bellaire Food Street Plaza. I finally got a chance to pop inside for a visit today. Upon entry, I was greeted warmly by an employee who gave me a bit of background info as well as explained the QR code menu setup. I decided to order the sous vide beef larb (hot) as well as a papaya salad (medium heat). Beef larb- incredibly flavorful, tender warm slices of steak with a rich and fragrant marinade, and plenty of fresh vegetables and sticky rice to accompany the savory dish. The portion was extremely generous, and the chef and owners were genuinely curious to know what I thought. I explained that the taste and flavor were delicious, but mine could use a touch of lime and less salt. They not only offered but insisted on trying to recreate the dish. I was shocked to receive that level of care and service. Although I was very pleased with the originalal, the second plate was just right. 10 out of 10 with plenty of refreshing lime and balance. Papaya salad- not your average overly sweet papaya salad. This dish packed an amazing fresh seafood taste and aroma. I love that the flavors here are not dialed down and full of that addicting funky umami goodness that I love. You could see them assembling the salad fresh in their bright, clean, and open kitchen. No sogginess and had crisp thin slices of green thai eggplant that I haven't seen in most restaurants. The sticky rice was perfect to absorb all of those yummy juices at the bottom with a contrast of the crisp salad to go with it. They even let me sample a raw marinated crab version of the salad that is not currently on the menu but absolutely needs to be! I had yet to try a raw marinated crab until today, and I'm obsessed. I would order this every single time. It had a delicate succulent texture and absorbed the sweet and tangy sauce that is making my mouth water just thinking about! To top off this already amazing experience I had, they even let me sample a dessert drink reminiscent of Virtnamese chè. Coconutty, but not overly rich and had freshly diced honeydew melon and cantaloupe, which was a perfect ending and pairing with the dishes I had. I would definitely order this as a drink to eat alongside and not even wait for the end. Overall, this was the best dining experience I've had in a very long time. These guys put me in a great mood and made my day. I'm so thrilled to have a Laoation restaurant here in the area. I will be back and recommending this place to friends and family. Almost forgot, a third friendly staff member handed me a tamarind Jaew sauce for dipping before I left. He said he eats it with sticky rice for breakfast! I'm excited to try the other versions that they offer next time! read more

Cheese roll: more than cheese there's veggies too great ratio Wings: sweat sauce, super crispy Lao sausage: so flavorful best I've had Nem Khao: crispy rice, flavorful Papaya salad: good baseline papaya salad Pad se ew: my favorite!! It's sweat and has a kick so good. Pad Thai: better than most Thai places I've tried, sauce is good Roti: good appetizer Lao chicken noodle soup (khao piak sen): so refreshing, and the broth is very hardy and hit the right spot Tiger cry steak: was very tender, melts in your mouth they know how to cook a steak! Service was great everyone was very Attentive and checked on us when we needed anything. Very sweet guys such gentlemen. Wish we took more pictures but we were so hungry and everything was so good! Love that it's pretty self serve here, menu is on the phone, you order and pay on the phone. Very easy and quick! read more
