NASTY STAFF WHO SELL MISREPRESENTED FOOD, CHEATING CUSTOMERS WITH MISSING INGREDIENTS, SERVES FOOD WITH ONE BARE HAND AND IS SUPER RUDE TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS, DEMANDING EXTRA MONEY TO MAKE IT LESS THEN HALF RIGHT. SO F*****G RUDE! PLEASE LISTEN TO MY TRUE WAR STORY AND SEE MY 5 PICTURES.
Flushing's New World Mall has many of my favorite foods. My family and I have been eating here for over 8 years without a problem. I have never encountered such a rude and disturbing staff in my entire life before LaoMa MaLaTang. A few days ago I ordered the veggie MaLaTang because I wanted to eat my favorite fried tofu. Please see the pictures of the veggie MaLaTang soup as advertised with at least 5 pieces of fried Tofu visible. The young lady made my soup with one glove on and one bare hand (see pictures). After I got the soup, I took my soup to the table 4 feet from this pictured cashier. I noticed right away that the soup that I was given had no fried tofu at all (and there was no lotus root and no bean sprouts and other ingredients were missing, the cabbage leafs were very old and not fresh.) When I brought the soup back within seconds to the cashier to show them the missing fried tofu, I told the young cashier girl politely that they forgot to include fried tofu and asked that they fix it politely using formal Chinese. She immediately gave me a dirty look with cow eyes sticking out more then Rami Malek in Mr Robot (see attached example photo), and she screamed at me and said "You are last; I'm with a customer. Don't talk to me!" in Chinese. I didn't even have a chance to mention the other missing ingredients.
The store was not busy at that moment and the new customer and I were the only 2 customers standing in the large space in front of LaoMa MaLaTang. I replied "Excuse me I already have the wrong food, he didn't order yet...and I was the customer before him." She replied shouting rudely: "I don't care, you have to wait." I shouted back "What kind of customer service is this? You take my money very fast, but to fix a very simple issue, I'm the last, and you scream at me for no reason; this is your mistake, which you can fix in 10 seconds."
I explained again: "this is so simple, the soup is missing the fried Tofu as they always served here before." The cashier said: "we don't put many fried tofu like in the picture; we only give you 2 pieces." Then she had the guts to scream at me and said "Pay me 1 dollar, and i'll give you 2 pieces." I showed her my bowl again and explained again that I got NO fried tofu to begin with.
Now the whole staff hear the noise and came over to the counter, to join in support of the young colleague cashier, including a man from the back, and they all started yelling at me in Chinese without knowing what was going on, and most importantly without checking the bowl to see if I was missing the ingredients. They all assumed that I have the proper soup and just wanted more fried tofu, which was so wrong. At this point even the 2 female cooks joined in yelling at me with their heads sticking out the back window. It was as if they were waiting their whole lives for a chance to abuse a stranger. I was disgusted at these animals who refuse to even look at my bowl or even consider fix a mistake on their part with 1 penny of ingredients, or to even try to make a loyal mall customer happy.
These employees give Chinese people a bad reputation of being animals without manners, who don't follow proper food safety methods, without ethics or education.
I shouted out: "I am NEVER coming to this store again!"
Lessons learned: In business the customer is always right, and you have lost a loyal one with dozens of Chinese family and friends in Flushing.
Store owner: I understand that running a food court store is very stressful and it is a lot of work. However, you must remember to make customers happy for repeat business. For this tiny piece of fried tofu issue which would have cost you nothing you will lose hundreds of dollars in future sales. I suggest you listen to my experience and take actions to fix this. Please hire employees who wear gloves while serving foods, who wash their hands after going to the bathroom and who help customers with their order with a smile without yelling or cow eyes.
Future customers (if any): I suggest you listen to my experience and eat elsewhere unless you like to get half-missing, unfresh veggie soup. read more
