I've been to Lardo a few times for the dinner and I'm happy with my experience there. At this restaurant, you order at the counter. You may either sit outside or inside. The menu is exciting and has some unique sandwiches. The employees have been friendly and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I've gotten the orange creamsicle slushie, pork meatball bánh mi and the beeria grilled cheese. The slushie is sweet and refreshing. The banh mi is delicious. I thought the pork flavors were very good. The grilled cheese is huge! I really like the green dipping sauce that it came with more than the consome. The sandwich is huge with it having multiple tiers. Overall, I like going here and recommend them for a unique and delicious sandwich.
Great place has delicious food and I really like the flag or I should say the Italian flag. The only thing missing on that sandwich is a chicken Parmesan cut and you add that piece of chicken on there and the sandwich would be perfect. Perfectly delicious with that sauce in that Barata cheese... I also got the Max salad kind of odd that they had that on the menu given the things that they have but you know we're still delicious and the fries were just a little salty, but I still enjoyed them other than that I would definitely come here again as I think it's my second time.
It's hard to call such a well known Portland staple underrated, but Lardo doesn't get the credit it deserves. Great service from the moment we walked in the door, a laid back vibe that truly fits what you want for a chill lunch spot with amazing food! Super fresh ingredients and flavor profiles that make you shake your head and say "damn", before you dive in for another incredible bite! Definitely somewhere we need to make more effort into getting back here more often!
Great place! I wasn't feeling too adventerous when we went with a small group, so I opted for grilled cheese and the girl at the counter offered a tomato soup with it. So glad she did because it was so good! Cheese and I aren't great friends, but this sandwich was so good! My partner got the Bronx Bomber and our friends all got other varieties. The sandwiches look small in some photos but they were very filling! We all had to share fries just to finish them! The flow of the restaurant was nice and they had a good beer and cocktail selection. I cant wait to come back and sit on the patio when its finished!
The best breakfast burrito I've had in PDX so far. The service took a bit, but they were kind about it. The inside is cute, but we prefer to sit outside. The pork belly is juicy and packed in, and having a burrito without it was great too. The tater tots were fresh and crunchy. I will say the cilantro can be a little much, especially if you have the soap-tasting gene. Regardless, yummy and my go-to breakfast burrito spot currently.
Hadn't been here in a while so we got food delivered. Can't say I'm a fan of the bland potato salad but do enjoy the big pickles. Sandwiches are pretty good. They have a decent variety and the prices are okay. Just kind of average for me but that still means I'd eat here if I was in the area.
Hands down the best sandwich I've had all year, the mortadella melt was outstanding, many napkins recommended. My tip is to grab a spot outside and be patient it will be well worth your lunch break. Props to Lardo's I hope to try the other highly suggested sandwiches.
Lardo never disappoints. If you're craving a seriously good sandwich, this is the spot. The menu is creative without being pretentious -- everything feels indulgent and perfectly balanced. The pork belly sandwich is a classic (crispy, tender, and dripping with flavor), and the Korean pork shoulder is another favorite. The dirty fries with herbs, parmesan, and bits of pork cracklings are an absolute must. The staff is always friendly and quick, even when the place is packed. The vibe here is casual and fun -- Portland through and through, with good music, local beers on tap, and a relaxed patio that's perfect for sunny days. Prices are fair for the quality, and the portions are huge, so you definitely get your money's worth. If you love bold flavors and comfort food done right, Lardo delivers every time. Great food, great energy, and one of Portland's best casual eats. And definitely grab a pickle!!!!
This was a delicious, flavorful chicken sandwich that made me sweat with its sweet heat. I ordered before the lunch rush and got my sandwich pretty quickly, but the rest of my party had to wait a bit longer for their food. We all ordered different sandwiches and were impressed by the presentation and flavors. Would eat again!
Finally tried Lardo for the first time (it's been on my list for a while) and it was delicious!! I got the Korean Pork Shoulder and loved the combination of flavors. It was a little messy to eat with the sauce and kimchi, but it was so worth it. I also enjoyed the fries with the herbs! I definitely will be coming back and look forward to exploring more of the menu!
It had been sometime since we'd last been in the PDX but worked called me here for a week so top of the must eat list is Lardo and it didn't disappoint nor did the consistency of the food change. Love it! I decided to try something new which was the St. Patty Melt which consisted of a smash burger, grilled corned beef, cheddar and American cheese, grilled onions, pickles and Russsian dressing all nestled in Texas Toast. It was awesome! Of course you can't come here without getting the Dirty Fries - nothing dirty about them - a pile of fresh cut fries, marinated peppers, pork belly scraps, fried herbs and topped with parm. Window surround the dining area with tables and bench seating plus outdoor tables too. The service was great as always and can't wait to go back again very soon!
Cam in as a result of a coupon to try Laredo sandwiches. We have now come back and ordered again as a result of the delicious sandwiches. I tried the barn mi sandwich, the pork belly was good, the pickled veggies crisp and tangy. Done just right. Pickles out of the jar on the counter! Don't miss getting one. Nice and crisp! Love the crunch. Clean store. Staff was friendly. I'll continue to come back.
Delicious sandwiches from a food-cart-turned-franchise (that has now turned back into just a one-off restaurant with a Vegas satellite), and a Portland institution. I love these sandwiches, even if they're smaller than their price point would suggest. My go-to is the banh mi, which is phenomenal (if you ask for less mayo, it's even better). The Korean pork shoulder is also good, but too much kimchi for my liking. It's counter service, take a number, and wait. The site itself is adorable, with both outdoor picnic tables and a long table with stools. read more

You hear that name, Lardo, and you think, "Oh, that's fun." But it's not just fun, it's prophetic. Because they take these humble, beautiful ingredients and they turn them into... magic. I'm not kidding! First, you walk in and the vibe is just... Portland. It's cool, it's casual, everybody's happy because they're about to eat a great sandwich. And the menu? Let's start with the Dirty Fries. Oh, my god. You have to get these. It's a mountain of perfect, crispy fries, but then... they put on fried pork scraps, chopped parsley, and this marinated pepper vinaigrette that just cuts through everything. But then... the sandwiches, the Pork Meatball Banh Mi. This is why I travel! It's this brilliant, beautiful mash-up. You have these incredibly savory, herby pork meatballs, right? But then they put it on this light, airy baguette with the classic pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro, and a spicy mayo. It's like Italy and Vietnam had the most delicious baby right here in Portland. It's messy, it's perfect, you gotta eat it over the table because it's gonna drip, and you're gonna love every second of it. So if you're in Portland, you have to go to Lardo. Get the Dirty Fries to share-or don't share, and get any sandwich that calls to you. You cannot make a bad choice. read more

I've been here twice now with my girlfriend. Today, we ordered the Banh Mi, Tuna Melt, tomato soup & potato salad. The customer service is wonderful, the seating options are great -- I will say that the music was maybe a little too loud, but we still sat inside and ate and forgot about it after a lil bit. The food was pretty quick to come out and fresh as hell! The Banh Mi pork was sooo juicy and delicious, the bread was soft and the pickled veggies were such a fresh addition. The potato salad was a lil bit salty... but yummy all the same. I got a pickle to break up the flavors. I got the tuna melt and it was very yummy like a fresh lemon tarter sauce vibe. read more
I discovered this spot while I was craving for grilled cheese and tomato soup back in like 2022 and I've been coming back ever since. Their menu has tons of options, but what really caught my eye was a seasonal item which they offer only in the fall. I had to try the pho rench dip sandwich! While the pho broth isnt the traditional vietnamese flavor ( its more roasty here), the sandwich itself is fantastic- tender meat, jalapeno, and lime make it a must try. I also got their lardo fries which were crispy on the outside and soft inside, and full of herbs. The staff is friendly, bar like atmosphere and seating both indoors and outdoor patio. Not the cheapest sandwich spot, but definitely a great treat for every now and then. read more

Fantastic food! Just driving by on way to a furniture store and saw this place. We went in and they were very nice and welcoming. I had the meatloaf banh mi and my wife and kid had Nashville chicken sandwich. I tried a bit of that too- soooooooooo good! We are in town for 3 days and going back before we leave. Stopped in here for sandwich week, where they featured a Chicken Vodka Parm sandwich. Bread was very good and had a nice firmness to it that held the sandwich together. Flavors worked well and overall was quite good. Some of the other sandwiches on their menu are a bit expensive which has been my hesitation on coming back. read more
Super delicious sandwiches! We had a difficult time deciding which sandwiches to eat, but settled on the italian tuna melt, smoky cubano, and the korean pork. We had to try the lardo fries, mac salad and tomato soup as well. The pork in the cubano and korean was juicy and flavorful. The tuna was good, but a bit on the dry side. Service was great. We sat outside to enjoy our food. Overall, this is a great place to satisfy the craving for a good sandwich! read more
There isn't much I can add about this place that hasn't been said already. The sandwiches are superb. When I'm not in Portland, I think about the Pho-rench (Pho-inspired french dip sandwich) a LOT, and I find myself checking their chef-wich (monthly special created by collaborating with a local chef), since it so hardly ever misses. Below is a bit outdated pic of when I had their fish sandwich chefwich, cheesesteak, and the Lardo fries (must-order). Order: Chef's OPBLT and Lardo Fry's Pros: Good enough that I will come back and try something else. The OPBLT was decent. However, there was so much on it that I didnt really taste the rib meat on it. Cons: I didnt like the frys. Something about the flavor didnt taste good to me. read more

I have been coming here regularly for about a year now. I just love it so much... the chefwich always draws me in at least once a month and tonight I popped by for the nacho week and slushie month offerings. Both were fantastic. It was very busy and the wait was a little longer but the staff was amazing as always and I really enjoyed my night out here. I've noticed it can be very loud inside so I think I need to take advantage of the big patio outside next time. Thanks again, y'all! See you soon. read more

I would give more stars if I could. I had the Beeria Grilled Cheese, Hushpuppies and Watermelon Agua Fresca, my partner had the Smokey Cubano, Mac Salad, and House Lemonade. Holy cow!! First, that Watermelon Agua Fresca was fantastic!! I'm going to be craving that for days. The lemonade was really good. The sandwiches!!! They were amazing. Some of the best sandwiches we've had anywhere. My partner loves Cubanos and has had them everywhere and said it was the best he's had. I'm from Texas and the Hushpuppies were the absolute best things ever. The owner was super friendly, as were all the employees. Great staff! So far one of my favorite places in Portland. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff. I had asked locals about where to get a sandwich and the overwhelming consensus was to check out Lardo. My husband ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich and I had the pork meatball banh mi. The banh mi was a bit bland but the pickled vegetables added a good amount of flavor. My husband's fried chicken sandwich was fantastic, though. The restaurant is right on a major street and we were lucky enough to find some parking right in front of the restaurant. Inside, there is a lot to look at. Plenty of art and pictures of the different cuts of pork. I'd definitely go back and skip the banh mi and try one of their other sandwiches instead. read more

Ordered the Crunchy Salad for starters and went with the Vietnamese Meatball sandwich and the Vietnamese Meatball on a bed of their glorious fries (with rosemary and cheese) to be gluten free. Lardo is that hearty and delicious sandwich shop with an inviting ambiance! I'm obsessed with the Korean pork kimchi sandwich and the Cubano. Both are full of flavor and very filling--I even had to take half home. We paired our sandwiches with parmesan fries, which were excellent. The service and location are great, within walking distance to many other spots. They offer both indoor and plenty of outdoor seating, which is a huge plus during warmer weather or busy times. read more

Cubano on the left and spicy chicken parm chefwich of the week on the right. Absolutely delicious. Busy but it was a Saturday on a sunny day. I do wish the parm had a tad bit more sauce on it but otherwise I loved the tiny touch of spice that most chicken parm's don't have. Sister loved her Cubano as well and thought the bread was perfectly crispy. Also got myself a berry gin rickey. Interesting flavor, weirdly similar to a vinegar. read more

The restaurant is very cute along with the a large outdoor patio. You order your food at the counter and the service is amazing, they were very helpful and friendly. I had the Birrieria grilled cheese and it was delicious 8.5 out of 10. The hot honey chicken sandwich was delicious as well 9 out of 10. The fries were cold when they came out so I'm gonna have to give the fries a 7. The hush puppies are absolutely to die for 9.8 out of 10. You have to try them! It is expensive but overall a great restaurant. read more

Honestly the best classic grilled cheese I've had! No frills but super yummy and filling with crunchy buttery bread. The tomato soup was pretty good too. I also got the lavender lemonade which is tangy but so delicious and came with free refills! read more

We got the pork meatball sandwich and the hot honey chicken sandwich and split them. Both had some heat and great flavor. My wife loved to lemonade and I enjoyed the orange blossom cider. The food wasn't the only thing with heat though, the four guys working the front had Excellent customer service and were quite fun to watch. read more

The pork shoulder sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. LOTS of flavor going on here with the kimchi, chili mayo, lime, and cilantro. Pork was tender and flavorful. Husband got the cubano which left a lot to be desired. Not enough toppings or sauce on that one to stand out so if you're craving a cubano ask for extra pickles or kimchi and some chili mayo. read more

These are some decadent sandwiches, thus the name. I got the Korean pork shoulder and my partner got the Nashville hot fried chicken. The pork shoulder is sooo tender. And it comes on a nice pillowy bread. The kimchi added a nice crunch. The chili mayo was pretty slathered on so I could have used a bit less. The only other knock on the sandwich is that it was extremely salty, mostly from the meat. My partner loved the Nashville fried chicken. It wasn't hot in the least bit, so I would have loved some actual heat. But the crunch on the chicken was so good. Everything well balanced. Service was friendly but a little slow. Not terrible, just a little noticeably so. read more

bahn mi and korean sandwiches the bahn mi tastes like a tofu bahn mi on different bread. great recipe and less messy than the original french baguette. the korean sandwich i do not recommend if you are not into strong smelling asian food. it does turn heads if you eat it elsewhere and the wrappers hold onto the smell. just an fyi. tots were overly peppered and not well tossed. take a look at them before you pop them in your mouth lol. read more
So good, I can't stop thinking about it! I decided to get the Korean pork shoulder sandwich based on the reviews, and I'm so glad I listened to the people because it lived up to the hype! The pork was very savory and went so well with the other ingredients (chili mayo, kimchi... Who woulda thought?) in the sandwich. The combination tasted amazing together. The fries were also yum! I got the lardo fries which are fries with fresh herbs and parmesan and they are as good as it sounds! In fact, it was great that my partner and I ordered the dirty fries right after, which is the lardo fries + marinated peppers and pork scraps. Even better but made for a hefty meal. Suffice to say, we left the restaurant with very happy bellies. Service was also on point. They were very attentive and friendly! The place is clean and has plenty of covered outdoor seating, including a fire pit area which is nice. Highly recommend! read more
