I really wanted to like this place after seeing it featured in a magazine but unfortunately the duration of the polish is very poor. Upon arriving for my first visit I waited for 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time! Not a great impression. I received a gel polish and added a foil art and that very night my gel chipped. The next day a second nail completely peeled off. I went back into to get repaired which they did so for zero charge of course. 5 days later one of the nails I had repaired completely peels off again! I spent way too much money on my nails for a barely week lonng manicure. I will not be returning. read more

I found Lark & Sparrow a year ago and have been hooked ever since. The atmosphere is inviting and the technicians are friendly. They make greeting your nails done feel like an event and you feel like an Instagram nail model when you leave. I have gotten hooked on the nail art, every time I look at my hand I see a masterpiece. Do not recommend. Overpriced and took forever to paint one nail and they have already chipped after one day. I got the "nurturing" manicure, but it was just a regular manicure from my experience with other salons. She also did not soak my hands before working on my cuticles, so she was trying to scrap them down dry which seemed more damaging. The staff wasn't very friendly. Hands down the best nail salon I've been to!! The interior is beautiful with a very cool, industrial feel. The staff is so welcoming and gracious. The online scheduling option is super convenient for those of us that hate calling places and even when my appointments registered as two different times they called me right away to clarify and make sure I had the appointment time I wanted. They offered us a variety of refreshments (and refills) and were just so laid back while still being so professional. It was definitely not one of those awkward spa visits where it's all weird silences and small talk. They were so nice and friendly and just made us feel right at home. The services were amazing. I got the nurturing pedicure and my fiancé got the healing pedicure and oh my, it was AWESOME. We just loved the entire experience and it is so reasonably priced for all they offer. This is a very quint place. For someone out of town coming in for the first time. This place was very nice. HaSani was the young woman who did my daughters nails. She was very good with her craft. Also very pleasant. All the ladies were. The shop it self is clean and neat. They have all type of beverages for your liking. The service are pretty much all, but maybe a bit more. I've been a customer for 5 years and love the nail art I always get. Today I had a really hard experience and didn't know what else to do but write it here. I couldn't reach a manager to talk to someone directly. I have a baby and today is my birthday. As a treat, my family encouraged me to get a mani and pedi and they would provide childcare--take some much-needed self-care time. I showed up at 3:30pm for my 3:30pm appointment only to learn that my appointment had been changed to 4:00pm without my consent or notification. Not only that, I was told I could only do a mani or a pedi and to pick which one I wanted. I was so confused and sad that I just left in tears. I think I would have responded better to all these setbacks and been able to hold back my tears and stay if I had been offered a place to sit and wait, an apology for all these changes, an empathetic comment, anything. I'm still digesting all of this but I think Lark and Sparrow lost a customer today. The nail work is great, but one of the things I love most about Lark and Sparrow is the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere that greets you when you walk in. I wanted to like this place and support local small business but after giving this place two different appointments I have decided there are too many salon's to give this place any more of my money. They brag about being all natural (not cutting cuticles and using grape seed oil, etc..) but I'll be just fine the traditional way. The owner is a bit cold for my taste. Although the cleanliness is top notch (hence the two star and not one) it isn't enough to keep my patronage. I called the first time to schedule an appointment with a technician who was highly reviewed and when I asked for an appointment with this woman the owner did her very best to convince me that any of her technicians are good and encouraged me to book with others. I decided to keep with my request and once again, for my second follow up booking, I was told the same spiel from the owner as if she was disappointed I asked for the same technician. I found that really odd. I just went to a place across the street from my new neighborhood I moved to and spent half the price for twice the service. read more

I REALLY wanted to love this place. I had been watching them for a while. I finally made an appointment and ended up sadly disappointed. First of all, the shop is beautiful and the staff are very nice. The nurturing pedicure was amazing! I highly recommend it. BUT, I really wanted cool hand painted art. After 3 hours, it was clear that it wasn't gonna happen. The lesson that I learned is to ONLY ask for the staff who have stars next to their name on Vagaro. The person who worked on me was very nice and meticulous, but not an artist. I was hoping for someone to guide me through the options and to even offer suggestions based on their expertise. This is their craft, not mine. I had an idea, but wanted an expert take it away. Well, it didn't happen and my nails are already ruined (2 hours later) and the "art" on my toes is not great. I just had the most fabulous pedicure with Kristen! I went here once before and loved it, but hadn't gotten around to a review...but now I'm inspired. I just got a basic pedicure but my feet look and feel amazing. The environment is very relaxing, but casual, very welcoming and chemical free! Ok, so I'm not sure if it's completely chemical free but I think they use almost all natural products. I was greeted and offered wine or a mimosa (Saturday afternoon, I said yes! And the white wine was light and refreshing...a totally decent wine) Then I sat down with Kristen and we laughed, and had so much fun all while getting a great pedicure. Nail Techs here speak English, so while they aren't therapists, they are capable of understanding if you want to switch colors (no offense to the Vietnamese nail salons! I was just sick of not being able to speak to a person I'm sitting with for such a long time). This place doesn't make you feel like a hamburger, all cramped in like a sardine with other suckers. The atmosphere is calming and has a certain nuanced aesthetic. Make appointments online and find a stencil and go all out with the nail art -- Everyone has their own style with it, but it's easy and fun -- you can go classy or avant garde or romantic, etcetera. I recommend coming with time before your appointment if you are indecisive -- so that you have time to go through the plates and narrow it down. Don't go in and expect the nail people to make decisions for you -- go in and figure part of it out yourself and then they can help with whatever little decision making after you've narrowed it down. I tend to go in one week and pick out a plate and color and then it will give me an idea for the next week - I go from variation to variation like baby steps. So far I've been too afraid of gel polish and I just go with vinylux which is the quickest drying because I'm impatient. BUT, they do have wine so that helps take the edge off especially if you go in for a mani AND a pedi and you're there for a while [I know I sound like a pri-madonna mentioning how I get impatient while getting my nails done. haha! sorry]. I just want to end this review on a slightly political note and say that, "capitalism is supposed to reward innovation. Not greed." Can I just say that the fact that they do nail art, while not to over-play it, is totally innovative, as is the ambience and aesthetics of the salon. This is an example of a healthy capitalistic endeavor - people who wanted to start a nail salon that wasn't a horrible and stinky experience - but rather a calming and nurturing one, where you don't feel like a sardine and the end result is unique - well worth the price. read more

Visited Lark & Sparrow for the first time last week. One of my favorite ATL nail techs, Hasani Young, recently joined their team so I had to try them out. The space is amazing and centrally located with plenty of free parking. AND they offer great mimosas so what's not to love, right!? Unfortunately, I had an issue with my gel polish lifting and peeling. As soon as I alerted Hasani of the issue, she immediately went to work on finding a slot to fit me in to redo my service. Yes not the normal nail salon I did get a car nap immediately sitting in the chair. Full face waxing was pleasant. I fell asleep she continued on. I was very pleased and happy with my service. Skye did my pedicure, and she did such a nice job I went back. Although the prices are a bit high compared to other nail shops, I think their approach justifies the higher prices. Their pedicure is different from my previous experiences. Instead of soaking your feet first and then using a callous remover (y'know, the cheese grater thing?), they file your dry heels and then soak your feet. This way, the callous removal is less shocking to the body, and the callouses grow back slower. Brilliant! I am rubbing my feet together right now, about 2 weeks later, and they're still soft. The skin also feels even; previously, my heels would feel bumpy. In addition to a superior approach, the salon itself is more pleasant than the other places I've visited. There are no strong chemical smells in the air, and the decor is light and bright. They don't have the massage chairs (they're hard to keep sanitary); instead they have very comfortable Lay-Z-Boy recliners. Those recliners are so cute that I might buy one for my house. They also do nail art and have lots of options! All and all, I really like L&S and will be a repeat customer. read more

I used to frequent this salon and loved that they were a cleaner option. It's also very cute inside. However this place always has had a snobby complex. Kristin D. was the only person who was kind to me at the salon. I was a very loyal customer and would commute all the way from Dunwoody. However, I got sick with bronchitis, and had to cancel ONCE. I know they have a cancellation policy, and some people have no regard for other people's time. But I was genuinely sick and in a coughing fit. I cared about the tech, and other people's wellness. Sometimes with loyal customers, you should handle some situations case by case. But they still changed me $25. They finally did refund my $25, but fired me as a client. And also they not only deleted my review, but also BLOCKED me on Instagram! Please be aware that their reviews are not accurate as they do delete negative ones. And also you must never get sick, or cancel. Otherwise you will either be fired, or charged. But I am kind of relieved, because I always felt a negative vibe, and also felt like I tried for people there to like me, without it in return. Even my husband who use to drive me down there every 2 weeks, said that he always felt super unwelcome. And my mom, who I also I introduced to the shop, is never going back. They lost 3 customers over $25. It is really crazy for being asked to never return for being sick, and being upset about the charge. I never raised by voice, or cussed or anything. About a week or so ago I scheduled an appointment for a manicure (gel removal and application) and healing pedicure online at this nail salon which I had never previously attended. Both services were scheduled with Ryan Woods as the service provider. The service was scheduled to occur at 11 am on Saturday, September 28, 2019. When I arrived for my service, Ryan started with my pedicure first. After she completed my pedicure, she asked me what color polish I wanted. I get regular manicure and pedicures, always American French polish on my nails and toes. I recently relocated from the Washington, DC area which is why I had never been to this salon before. I am seeking to establish regular service with a new nail technician. Prior to starting my pedicure, she had to remove American French polish from my toes. When she asked me what color I wanted, I advised her that I wanted the same American French polish that she had removed from my toes. She informed me that Lark and Sparrow considers this "nail art" and that she did not have time to complete the service. I advised her that I was her next appointment, as she was scheduled to do my manicure and that there was nothing on their online scheduling site to even allow someone to book American French or nail art services or to let the client know that this was something additional that you needed to request. As a new client, how was I to know that I was supposed to book something special to get the services I wanted. She refused to paint my nails as I requested and notified me that she also could not do my manicure as requested; e.g. with American French. I got up without any polish on my toes, yet I was charged for the full pedicure ($60) and the full price of the manicure $50) (although she never touched my hands. I paid $110 on my card and left the shop. I have now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

LOVE this place. I've been driving by this cute place for several months and finally decided to book an appt. I had a nurturing manicure with Skye and it was fantastic! I'm a nurse, so between work and recent yard work my hands and nails were in bad shape. Skye was super sweet and did a great job. I love that they don't use a lot of harsh chemicals on the nails. I don't get a lot of manicures or pedicures. They only seem to correlate with major life changes. This one was no different. My dear coworkers hooked me up with a pedicure here over Memorial day and the nail polish still looks great. It hasn't cracked or chipped. I think that's a first. I really enjoyed Lark & Sparrow. I chose nail polish from the cabinet that has the longer lasting nail polish (I wonder why they have the other cabinet if this nail polish is better? variety i guess). I chose colors I liked but didn't have an idea of what I wanted, which worked out well, because Sunshine is super creative and came up with something really nice. My nails lasted about three weeks (the gems lasted one week, both times they came off from doing my hair, which was still longer than I expected them to stay on). I imagine others would be able to have them stay even longer, as I do use my hands frequently. I got the "simple design" and if it's your first time there I definitely recommend it. You'd be surprised how fancy the "simple" designs look. Like everyone else is saying, it doesn't smell like nail polish and the people are very friendly. It does cost more than the average nail salon, but if you like to get your nails done once in a while for a treat or a special occasion, I think it would certainly be worth it. read more
