Went here with a large group (there were 16 of us) for dinner on a weekend night. Thankfully we were able to call ahead and get a seat out on the patio, which was great. To start we had orders of the chicken wings, meatballs, arancini, and BBQ ribs. Nothing really stood out as a must order, but the meatballs and ribs were more memorable than the other items. For my main meal, I decided to go with the Bernardo's favorite. The pizza itself was actually very good--something I would definitely order again. The only issue was that they were unable to serve our whole table near the same time as a couple of my friends had to wait 45+ minutes for their food to be ready after the first group was served. Overall, this spot is relatively new and is clearly still working out the kinks. They have some great dishes and I expect them to continue to get better, but they are still a bit green. read more

Me and my friend decided to visit the Lark for brunch earlier today. We were excited to try there botttomless drinks as well as their food. Very disappointing. My first drink I order was a Bellini, which I had no problem with. But when I ordered a sangria, it was the same color as the Bellini. I told the waiter I wanted a different drink, he said I'm giving you the sangria you asked for. I said to him I didn't think it was going to be he same color as the Bellini. He said it was a white sangria. My friend ordered a mimosa and she said that the drink barely had any orange juice in it. The waiter said they don't put that much orange juice in it. ( If that's the case then you cant call it a mimosa then.. just saying) The food was Ok... nothing special about it. Once we got the bill we noticed they charged us $17 for gratuity. Which surprised us since it was just us two. So we ended up paying more for our meal than we wanted to.. Which was not worth it at all. Me and my friend will NEVER go to the Lark again. I absolutely LOVE coming to Lark! It is such a fun place to hang out with friends. Great food, even better drinks. Garrett (the cute ginger) is my favorite bartender. He is always so accommodating and fun to watch make drinks! He used to be a flare bartender in Vegas so he really knows what he's doing. My friend and I came here for dinner and drinks on a busy Friday night. We did not leave disappointed! As soon as we were seated, our server was at our table to offer us beverage suggestions. He was even kind enough to bring us a few draft beer samples since we didn't recognize some of the items listed on the drink menu. Our food was absolutely delicious! We split the prosciutto and arugula pizza which was amazing! And finished off with the ice cream churro sandwiches were perfect! Came here with a friend on a Wednesday night. Lark is a pretty big space, with a main bar area, a side room with the pizza bar and an outdoor patio in the back. Sweating enough as I was, we grabbed a table by the pizza bar inside. The happy hour drink specials are pretty lame but I settled for a $3 bud light draft. I would highly recommend the focaccia bread as an appetizer; it's only $2.95! Their food menu covers the full gamut of comfort foods; sandwiches, burgers, pizza and pastas plus some others. A burger sounded good that night so I got the Lark Smash Burger, which had bacon and ham topped with onion rings. Really good! It also came with a mountain of crispy tots which made me very happy. The answer is always tots. Everything is maybe a touch expensive for Boystown but I really enjoyed my food and our waiter was very friendly and outgoing. Had a great first experience at Lark! The back patio was fantastic pumping many of my fav 80s jams. Mark was very responsive and helpful - thank you! We stopped into Lark for happy hour yesterday after a rough day. We are new to the area and heard about the happy hour. The drinks and appetizers deal is a great value and the bbq chicken wings were delicious. We were disappointed when it began raining, since we were seated out on the patio. I went the 2nd night it opened and decided to skip the wait for a table as it was a Friday night and sit at the bar around the pizza chef. Our waiter was excellent--I want to say his name was TJ, but I really can't recall. He was uber knowledgable on their menu. He suggest both our appetizer and our drink selection... And both were amazing. The drink was just about life changing. I definitely suggest getting the Raspberry Basil Lemonade. I ordered the harvest pizza. It was an excellent choice---for a pizza, it was light enough to not make you feel over full after eating, but hearty enough to feel like you got a full meal and your money's worth. I wish I could give this restaurant zero stars. It was the one of the worst dining experiences I have encountered. First we were sat at a table directly in front of the host stand so anyone that came in was hovering over our table . It clearly was put there to accommodate busy times but at the expense of the customers. We then asked to move tables and were put around the corner by the bathrooms and the POS when many other tables were open. From our table we could see the food that was done and waiting to be delivered which is where we saw our order sitting there for over fifteen minutes. The food was terrible and the drinks were poorly made. With so many other great places to eat in Chicago this should be at the bottom of your list. Wow, this restaurant has become a staple in my week. They air RuPaul and it's been a great spot to watch it with friends that is not a club, where you have to stand and can't hear anything. Not only is their great food and they have drink specials, but the environment is so comfortable and relaxing. The patio is open and it is gorgeous and huge! There's even a tv outside. The food is very good. One of my favorites is the Caesar salad with perfectly cooked chicken or steak. The chicken is so juicy! The chef really understands how to correctly cook proteins (never dry and over cooked). Honestly, I haven't ordered something I didn't like. As a local to Chicago we always like to go to Lark to grab dinner before going out. Even way before when it use to be Halsted's. Tonight we sat at the bar as being NYE we knew it'd be busy. We order appetizer and a pizza at the same time. Our breadsticks came out the first time about 15 mins later and were completely burnt. So we sent them back. Got a new order another 10-15 mins later with only one burnt. So we kept those. After waiting 45 mins on the pizza, the owner Ralph told us that our ticket time was only at 15 mins. I explained that must be incorrect as we ordered everything at once. He even brought out the second order of breadsticks because the first one was burnt. The bartenders were both great and very apologetic. As I look across to the pizza oven, the guy was standing there not ok the oven. Come to find out the pizza, that was already at 45 mins wasn't even in the oven yet. I told the owner Ralph to just cancel it, and we'll go somewhere else. At that point he became very upset and argumentative. I paid our bill for soda and my friends drinks and even tipped the server $20. As I'm aware it wasn't her issue. However, if the owner is going to be present, then he should really learn some customer service skills. read more

I have never walked out of a restaurant before. This was my first time ever. We came into the restaurant and told the waiter after 15 minutes when he came over that we had a Groupon. He gave us the Groupon menu. We ordered, and after 30 minutes another member of the staff came over and said we needed to come back after 5pm for the Groupon. (Which it did not specify in the fine print or the menu.) Meanwhile, I have a hungry family starving at this point. Rather than trying to help us, he stares at us blankly with no apology, and does not seem to care if we stay. We get to go walk out, and speak to the manager who does not care either - and points out that we need to make a reservation to use our Groupon. The funny thing is that we would have stayed there and used the Groupon another time, but their absolute inability to provide a minimum level of service for a family in their restaurant was a definite disappointment. The service was subpar - the waiter sassed at us (after being MIA for almost 15 minutes) when we asked the person who refilled our waters if he could have our waiter come back for our dinner order. Dinner and drinks were brought out in paper plates and plastic cups. And automatic gratuity was added to the bill, I assume because of the festival weekend. Unfortunately, management went too far today by charging a $5.00 cover during Halsted Market Days...regardless if you were dining in or just grabbing a drink. And to be told that the $5.00 would give us in/out privileges was ridiculous, if not insulting. Capitalistic greed gone too far and a fast track to losing 10 loyal customers. This is quickly becoming my go to spot to bring visiting friends and family members! The interior is absolutely beautiful and intimate, the perfect date spot. The food is delicious and doesn't break the bank, but what sets this restaurant apart is definitely the staff! They are all kind and courteous and one member who exemplifies that is Gene! I have been coming here time and again since they've opened and whenever he is here he always greets me with his adorable smile and charming demeanor. Whether he is hosting, behind the bar, or bussing tables he always makes a point of coming over and saying hello. It truly is part of the reason Lark is so great. During one of my more recent visits, my brother was in town and I took him out to eat here and Gene was our server. He was very attentive and super knowledgeable of the menu, listing a slew of options with consideration to my brother's vegan lifestyle. Our drinks had to be replaced an additional 2 times because of taste/alcohol issues. The food arrived about an hour and fifteen minutes after we arrived.
