My water heater started to leak badly late afternoon. They helped stopped it temporary because the original owners of the house didn'thave a shut off valve to the heater. First of all, when she came to give me a free estimate, she showed up 1 hour and 10 minutes later than the time she was supposed to meet me. She promised to email me the estimate immediately, but I never heard from her again. I'm truly saddened with this company. I was very excited when I initially reached out for a price estimate and received a quick response in february, but due to personal issues I couldn't follow through with the free estimate and project to have the popcorn ceiling removed from my home. Fast forward to June/July, I reached out to LaRue's and left messages and finally got ahold of Morgan. He seemed very pleasant and willing to work with me, but after that call, it was like pulling teeth from a cat to get much communication or response. I had to continuously call and message to get set with the free estimate, and after he came to inspect my townhome, he requested about 4 days to get me the quote, which I never received. I left another message about 2 weeks after the visit to inquire and never received a response. I feel bad, but I received the impression that my project wasn't worth the work because I only wanted to get the top floor's work done, and was hoping for around $4K for a low square footage. Regardless, a quote or reply would have made a world of a difference. now I have to look around for another company, since I still need the work done. I'm sure he does amazing work, but in my opinion, if a business can't respond to inquiries and people that are willing to hire them for work, it's not worth the time. read more

LaRue's Plumbing and Remodeling did a great job in helping me with my bathroom work. At first, I wanted to remodel the bathroom and Morgan came down to assess to get me a free estimate. Turns out we needed a building permit (not their fault, just how it is renovating a condo), so I focused on their plumbing services vs. renovation (as I wanted to avoid this going on for months). Morgan and his co-worker did a fantastic job installing a new toilet and shower fixtures for me within a reasonable amount of time. My building was supposed to turn off the water in my unit for them, but there were issues with the building's water valve system. Morgan didn't charge me for the extra time he had to spend because of my building's mishaps and gave me a great deal for his work. This review is not about the actual work, because we never got that far, but about the communication before any job was going to happen. I called Morgan in June to get a quote for a tub to walk-in shower conversion. I read in the reviews that they specialize in this, and the photos I saw online impressed me. Morgan asked me to send him some photos and details, such as measurements, address, email, etc. I sent him the information via text message a few minutes later. He then replied with a link to a brochure from which I could pick the tiles that were to be used. After the last text where I selected the floor tile, I suddenly heard nothing anymore. I figured, well, maybe tomorrow, as we were getting outside his normal business hours at that time. Tomorrow came, but nothing. The next day, I sent him a message to ask if he was able to make a quote, but received no answer. Another day later, I tried calling him, but no answer. About an hour later, I received a text message, saying that he needed more time to get the quote. I said that was ok, but it was the last I heard from him. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed when I did not hear from him anymore. Not only because I was really hoping for them to do my bathroom (after all, Morgan appears to be doing a great job, if you can get him to work for you), but also because I was strapped for time with family coming in later this year (though, at that time, I still had several months). It made me feel the customer's time was not important. A quote shouldn't have to take days if this is something you do often, even a spitball amount would have been good to give me an idea if we could make this work. It was definitely not for a lack of budget on my end. If you do not want to work with a customer (and that goes for any contractor out there, really), for whatever reason, let the customer know (and that goes for any contractor out there, really). It is basic customer service. After all, you never know who the customer knows and how they will mention your name whenever their friends or family need any service. It would've been ok to let me know the job was too small or that you were too busy. When you deal with someone yourself, you want them to answer, too. And I'm not even asking for Anyway, I eventually did find another contractor, who not only did a tub-to-shower conversion but also replaced the vanities. The bathroom is entirely new again. Sadly, not thanks to La Rue Plumbing. :( read more

Over the course of 6 weeks, they took both rooms down to the studs and rebuilt them. Every day all of their team were pleasant and hard working. They recommended a variety of fixtures, and were completely open to fixtures of our choosing. They were respectful of our household. They were completely trustworthy. We did not hesitate for a moment to leave our place in their hands when we had to run errands. We are totally satisfied with the quality of their work. I hired my nephew to change my toilet seat. Little did I know this would cause an epic disaster. I left him at my place alone for 2 hours. When I came home, he was still working on it. 2 hours after that, he called me in and told me there was a tiny leak and he would be back the next day to fix it with putty. Ok, I don't know anything about plumbing, but I'd hired him to change the toilet seat, where did this leak start? Putty? Oh no way. I drove him home, but by the time I came back home, water was gushing out, and my son was just sitting by the toilet, emptying out the bucket which kept filling rapidly with water. Oh no! The first thing I did was to call Morgan LaRue, of LaRue's plumbing. He came over as soon as he could, and sure enough, my toilet tank was cracked and the water hose was loosened. The toilet was damaged beyond repair. Morgan turned off the water and let me borrow buckets so we'd be able to flush. The very next day, he came by with a new toilet and installed it in minutes. Let this be a warning to everyone, do not hire an amateur to do a professional's work. I called my nephew's mother to let her know what happened, and she flew into a rage, blaming me for everything and saying nasty things about me and even posting disgusting comments on my Facebook...... but that's a whole 'nother story which I won't go into here. Morgan saved me again, since my leaking toilet could potentially have caused thousands of dollars of damage to my downstairs neighbor's condo. He came quickly and did a great job. I highly recommend his services to anyone needing a good plumber. He's a contractor so can also do drywall, install floors, and various other services. Thank you Morgan! I requested an estimate and this company responded by saying they needed to stop by to provide an accurate estimate. I responded quickly to make arrangements and didn't hear back. Two days later, I sent another message asking if they were still interested. It's been another two or three days and still haven't heard a peep. If they are too busy to provide an estimate, they should not waste my time by implying they are interested. If they want clients to be respectful of their time, because time is money, they should do the same in return. Shortly after posting this review, I received a message from the owner. He apologized for not responding and said it had been a bad week, he had been sick. He said he was sorry that I was hurt. Hurt, no, disappointed, yes. I contacted this business because of the good reviews and was nearly certain this was the company I would hire. I found it odd he could not respond in a timely manner to my messages, but he very quickly responded after seeing this review. I've amended my review from a 1 to a 3, but I won't be hiring this company. Hopefully the owner has learned from this incident. Saw his comment to my updated post. I live in a condo in Waikiki. I had a contractor remove my bathtub and install a walk-in shower. They failed to seal the shower drain to the main drain; thus leaks. If you are considering a walk-in shower, make sure you get a plumbing and remodeling company not just a contractor. My personal recommendation is Morgan and his team at Larue's Plumbing and remodeling. I sent an email to Larue's website explaining my problem. Morgan promptly sent me a suggestion for replacement. He came out for measurements and too them back for an estimate. He came back with a reasonable estimate and we agreed on starting the project. Morgan and his team removed the old shower, then they started the replacement with installing water lines and metal studs for the walls. They prepared the drain and built up the floor so the shower drain would flow correctly. Then the shower pan was installed and the drain sealed to the main drain. The water lines were completed for the shower head. Next they installed the walls that the cultured marble walls would be attached to. Larue's uses Naka's Marble & Solid Surface for all their showers. Naka's crew delivered and installed the cultured marble walls. The last thing done was attaching the shower head. I did not want a shower door (too hard to clean) Morgan had a shower rod and liner installed. I may have missed a couple things but each of these steps took a lot of detail to complete and the job was done in a professional and timely manner. I am very pleased width the results. I had many questions along the way and Morgan was patient and answered each in terms that I could understand. Again if you are considering a walk-in shower, make sure you get a plumbing and remodeling company, not just a contractor. I highly recommend Morgan and his team at Larue's Plumbing and Remodeling. ***Sorry for the long delay, but I wanted to see if there were any further issues with my renovation before writing my final update for Larue's plumbing. Morgan and his crew are very personable and humble. I could sit and talk story with them all day. However, Yelp is a forum for people to read honest reviews so they can base their purchasing decision on actual customers and their personal experiences. So though this review will not be the most favorable, I feel that I have to provide the most honest (based on my experience) review so others can make an educated decision. This is my first renovation so I contacted Morgan to demo my old bathtub, remove the trash and to install a custom shower stall in my bathroom. I also had other plumbing work done to coincide with this renovation and Morgan did an awesome job on the plumbing. Now onto the tile work. I have to admit that I am not completely happy with the final product. The tiles are crooked, the floor did not drain correctly and to top it off, there was a leak in the piping behind the wall of my unit. Luckily I have an access panel and caught the leak before there was any major damage. What DID MAKE ME HAPPY, is Morgan and his dedication to making his customers happy. Once notified of the problem, he spent the next 3 days (even his days off) to fix the leak. He also acknowledged how unhappy I was with the flooring so he installed new tiling on the floor to help with the drainage. While the final product is not 100 percent perfect, it is now acceptable to me. He also assured me that they will honor their 2 year warranty on any of the work done in my apartment. I would have to honestly give him a 3 stars for his tile work, 5 stars for his plumbing skills, and a 5 for his customer service. His father's knowledge is incredible and on the days he came to help, the work went 4 times faster. The one thing I've learned from doing this renovation is to stick to your original design. If you hire someone to install something, be very hesitant when they say, "Trust me, you'll like it." and then allow them to install a different tile than the one you agreed upon. That was my first mistake when the original floor tiles were installed. Overall, I would be 100 percent confident to hire Morgan to do plumbing work. I would really have to think about hiring him to do further tile work. I know he's still learning and I'm sure he'll improve as time goes by. So though his tile work is not perfect, I feel that everything averaged out to a 4 star rating. Customers should be firm in their design choices, inspect the work done every day and immediately tell the contractor that you are not happy with the work being done before the job is done. read more

My review for LaRue's Plumbing has been long overdue...but it's better late than never. Morgan and his crew were very professional; trustworthy; easy to work with and full of ALOHA! I reached out to LaRue's because I wanted to convert a bathtub shower into a walk in shower but I ended up doing so much more. Aside from bathroom conversion, I was also redoing my master bathroom, floor, deck, pipes, repaint, kitchen appliances and adding a new water filter for the house. On top of all that, I was pregnant in my 3rd trimester so imagine the pressure and stress I was in. However, Morgan helped me make it all possible with minimal stress and I was able to move in as planned. Morgan helped me arrange my deliveries and installation; communicated with other contractors and assisted me with the water damages another contractor caused...these were things he didn't have to do but did without charging me any extra fees. LaRue's Plumbing is excellent! I used LaRue's Plumbing recently when I was faced with a sudden need for plumbing assistance. My toilet suddenly started leaking water from the connection between the tank and the bowl. I initially thought of fixing the leak myself, but when I attempted to shut off the water using the stop valve, I discovered the old valve did not function. The valve would not turn and allow me to shut off the water to make the repair. Because I needed both the water shut off valve and the toilet replaced, I decided that I needed a professional. Therefore, I called a general contractor that I knew and trusted, who referred me to LaRue's Plumbing. LaRue's Plumbing quickly provided me with a price quote that I felt was very reasonable. We coordinated with the Condo Association to allow us to turn off the water main for my portion of the building. LaRue's Plumbing was ready to come in to replace the faulty valve and install the new toilet. Because they were replacing one old valve in my condo, I asked them to replace all the valves (which were all installed in the 1970's). One additional challenge that the project offered was the fact that the toilet needed to be a rear outlet type. This type of toilet is not as commonly available, and is a bit more difficult to install. LaRue's Plumbing had no difficulty in locating the proper toilet and getting it installed. We were extremely pleased with all the work that Morgan LaRue and his team performed. We greatly appreciated their quick action, their fair price, and the professional service. We got a referral from my dad since he used Morgans dad for a job in the past and was more than satisfied with his work. Our main water valve shut off was rusted and leaking so we gave LaRue's a call. He made it easy to set up an appt to get an estimate. We did the necessary work on our part (some digging) and just as easy as the first time, he came down and did a GREAT job welding the new valve on. Very professional work. On 10/20, I made an appointment for the 28th with Morgan. I contacted Morgan on 27th to confirm the appointment and they told me that they were booked up but that they might be able to squeeze me in at 3. I do not understand why they made an appointment with me on the 28th if they were booked up, or possibly my appointment was not important enough for them, so they moved my appointment on the side? I waited for 2.5 hours for them on the 28th and they did a no call/no show. I had to contact them saying that I had to leave to pick up my son and could not wait any longer for them. They said "sorry, I couldn't make it today." I said that it was ok and if they would be able to come tomorrow. They failed to even respond. I am so disappointed because their work looks nice online. I really wanted to get my toilet replaced, bathroom hardware installed, and I wanted to see if I could get a quote to retile my kitchen and bathtub. We found Morgan and LaRue's Plumbing on yelp and when we saw the positive reviews decided to give him a call to get an estimate on renovating our two small bathrooms. We had contacted multiple contractors and many of them would come out, look at our small bathrooms and then never call us back. That was not the case with Morgan. He was thorough and punctual when he came out to give an estimate and sent us an email with price ranges/breakdowns for all of the work within a few days. Luckily his schedule was not too busy for the time frame we were looking at and he was able to fit us in within a month. From the first meeting, we appreciated his honesty about having other jobs as well and encouraging us to contract out some of the install of the cabinets and counters. He arrived with his family crew when he said he would start work and continued to come as scheduled. Him and his father were very knowledgeable about plumbing and continue to give us sound advice whenever needed. All of the plumbing work they did for us has held up though and there have been no problems. The only reason for losing a star would be that he seemed to have some trouble balancing jobs, especially when an emergency plumbing issue came up at the very end of the project. We were hopeful this problem could be taken care of quickly but he schedules projects back to back so he had to come whenever his schedule permitted which was frustrating and time-consuming. LaRue's P&R Inc. is No. 1! This year we decided to remodel our main home bathroom to make it ADA (American Disability Act) compliant, safe for elders and also be consistent with modern bath designs. The work entailed removal of an old bathtub, prep for installation of a walk in shower, upgrading the shower devices and plumbing, installing safety grab bars, replacement of an old toilet with a new ADA height toilet and tiling the bathroom walls and floors with modern tiles. The initial Yelp 5-star plumbing company we called indicated they were too busy to visit for the purpose of providing an estimate for the work. Unfazed, we scanned Yelp for other 5-star companies and found LaRue's P&R, Inc. listed and decided to call them. I spoke with Morgan, the owner, who said he could provide an estimate. He visited the next day and was able to give me an estimate for the work. The estimate was reasonable and I decided to contract La Rue's to perform the work. They started the work listed above on a jointly agreed timeframe and also took care of some unforeseen side issues. Their workers, Morgan, Mike, Kharis and Ritchie performed the whole job in an outstanding manner. They were caring, courteous and very good workers with keen intuition. They protected my home's interior to minimize the dust/debris and cleaned and disposed of all rubbish on a daily basis. We are very happy and totally satisfied with our remodeled bath.
