I've been to this restaurant twice and both times it was delicious! The restaurant has enough space to accommodate groups too. This last time we ate outside. It is covered so the sun isn't beaming down on your head. The bar is open to the patio too. So far I've tried the Chaufa (highly recommend; I prefer the seafood one) and the Lomo Saltado! The portions for both are pretty good! Both times I took leftovers home. My favorite appetizer is Yucca Frita!! Yumm!! The servers are also very polite and attentive.

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER | after years of driving past Las Brasas time and time again, we finally got a small group together to try some chicken from Las Brasas! There was plenty of indoor seating when we arrived but I had brought the pup so we hoped to sit outside. Unfortunately, they had just opened their patio up at the time so seating was limited. We had to wait a bit but we were able to order some cocktails while we waited - aka a Pisco Sour, Love from Peru and Chicha Chilcano. My personal favorite was the Pisco Sour but the other two were also quite lovely to drink and to photograph. We were off to a good start with the Pantacones and the Calamari, Shrimp & Aji Pepper Frito. The Lomo Saltado (with linguine noodles) was what I was looking forward to the most but unfortunately was a little salty. But otherwise, flavor was great. The half Pollo Frito was fried TO PERFECTION - super crispy skin and juicy dark meat. However, the seasoning was a little light. The chaufa (house) was also pretty tasty but a little on the salty side. Overall, drinks were on point and our apps were perfect. The seasoning on our entrees could have been a little more refined but overall I really enjoyed the flavors. Hopefully it was just a busy day fluke because I would love to come back in again soon to try some other dishes!

Been a few years since I visited and they have redesigned the interior. Now don't come at me for my opinion as I never try to knock a place down. I give my thought on how I felt with the place & the service. The redesign is personally not to my liking feels a bit cold and the tables/chairs are just simple. Unfortunately I was seated on the tables for 2 that are right next to 3 other tables and you can hear everything being said. 2 tables to my left was a very obnoxiously loud guest. That when a father and minor child sat next to us they got up and relocated as the lady was having "adult content" conversation rather loudly he didn't want to remain there. Idk why I apologized for the lady becuz it was rather annoying. Any who. The reason for the review is the service & food. I go for my staple plate of lomo saltado, Inca & cancha & that didn't disappoint!! My husband got the salmon & he had expected more flavor overall on the dish so he wasn't a happy camper. Order came out correctly but felt the server was a bit lacking on making you feel welcome. I felt as though it was just another table he had to get thru rather quickly. 1 lady in black idk if she was a Mgr or owner she kept tending attention to the obnoxious lady so idk what was up with that. I wud return for my dish but that's about it- didn't feel anything really special about driving 1hr out of my way for dinner

We came here on a Sunday evening and were seated quickly. There are plenty of tables and one sided booth seatings. There is also a bar and a cute patio or outdoor seating. For a group of 5, we ordered a Whole Pollo A La Brasa, House Fries, Calamari & Shrimp Frito, Elotes , and Grilled Asparagus. My favorite of the night was the Pollo A La Brasa. It was my first time having Peruvian chicken, and I was excited to try as I've had recommendations recently. And my expectations were met. It was well seasoned and the chicken was tender & juicy. I will definitely be going to get Peruvian chicken more often. Also a special highlight to the Grilled Asparagus. It honestly is the top 3 asparagus dishes I've ever had. It was soft with the right amount of crunch, and I'm not sure how they seasoned them, but they were so addicting. They could be a little more generous with the asparagus portion. Service was attentive and friendly as we called them over quite often. The food also came out at a good amount of time. They also gave us some roasted Peruvian corn to snack on. These were SO good, it's like a different version of popcorn. My only point of improvement is the ambiance of the restaurant. The decor is fine, but I think the bright white lighting can be a bit too harsh. Switching to warmer lights would bring the restaurant's feel to the next level. Parking isn't an issue here, there is a shared parking lot with McDonald's.

While searching for the best fried chicken in town, I would've never thought that I'd find it at a Peruvian restaurant! Las Brasas is an institution in Decatur, serving massive portions at affordable prices. My partner and I ordered arroz chaufa, elote, and a half portion of fried chicken to share. The elote was creamy, salty, and very sour, probably from the Tajin and lime put on it-- but solid! The arroz chaufa was humongous, with enough portions to feed us for five nights-- tasty, too, and the sauce that went with it had a surprisingly-potent kick! Star of the show, however, was the Peruvian fried chicken ("pollo frito"). We got the half portion (which was the smallest amount), yet it was still massive with two thighs and a wing. I'll be honest and say that, while one of the thighs was perfect (tender, juicy, crispy), the other thigh was dry. Sadly, a bit inconsistent, but I still enjoyed most of the chicken and I especially loved the crackling outer skin. I think the chefs also sprinkled Tajin on top, which added an extra pop of flavor to an already-flavorful chicken. Be aware that service can be really slow and a little standoffish-- we spent over an hour at the restaurant, but to be honest, this is a place to take your time and enjoy the meal presented to you. Las Brasas is a great staple to the Decatur community, and I would return for more!

Service is great, atmosphere a bit noisy, food was ok. Sauces are really good. Ordered chaufa, half chicken roasted and half fried, beans are not good, French fries were the best. Lamb empanada are ok

Everything was so good!! The food was amazing and seasoned so well. It definitely hit the spot. The inside was cute and small but the people were so sweet. The service was so fast! I would Definitely recommend. We will definitely be back.

Wow! My gf brought me here to get authentic Peruvian food, and it did not miss! The portions were so large, that we were able to take some for lunch the next day. We had the rotisserie chicken family style that comes with a large salad, fries, chicken and a few sauces. Oh, and don't miss out on the lamb empanadas! Literally the best I've ever had in my life, and I travel a lot. We will try the fried chicken on our next cheat day! 8.9/10

Las Brasas was delicious! They had so many options we could choose from that all sounded great. A but difficult to choose from but I would highly suggest their Pollo Frito. That was our highlight and thought it was delicious. The service was quick and there is parking in the back!

My partner and I wanted to try something new in the area. I for one was craving some good chicken and I'm glad we landed on las Brasas. We came on a Saturday evening, it wasn't too crowded but the ambiance was lively. I really enjoyed my chicken and the potato salad. I found the yuca fries to be underwhelming for its price. Overall I'd go again to satisfy my chicken cravings

This place used to be so good and fresh. The 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken was SO DRY had to be Day Old. Made the most expensive $12 Chicken Salad out of it since it was inedible. Also ordered the Flounder Sandwich. The bun was the best part. Flounder is a thin fish Filets are NOT THICK CUTS? The fish wasn't bad it just wasn't Flounder as the menu stated. I used to like this place

The restaurant offers parking validations if you park in the parking deck behind the restaurant in the same building. Upon entry we were kindly greeted by the hostess and the staff was very accommodating for our large party while stating how we can best make serving a party of our seamless which I appreciated. The service was great from start to finish. To start I ordered the salmon chips to share with my husband. I was nervous as I've only had salmon chips at another local restaurant but Tio Lucho's version was very good. The chips were very balanced in ratio of salmon to chip with the chip being on the thinner side to highlight the salmon. Our waitress shared that the restaurant is a fusion of Peruvian and South Georgia style food. They highlight their seafood as their speciality and from the words of others at the table who ordered oysters, ceviche and cuts of fish they do that very well. For my entree I had the Lomo Saltado with a side of red beans and rice. The steak in the Lomo Saltado was extremely tender and the overall dish was rich in flavor. I wish there was more steak because of how good it was. Once dinner hours ended the restaurant turned into a dance floor with a DJ which we also enjoyed for a bit. I'll definitely will be back to explore more on the menu.

I explained what was wrong with it and was told they were cooking more so I waited on the second batch. My friend was also finally able to order, she got the guacamole and she liked it. I got paella from the "second" batch and it looked a little better ONLY, I tasted it and it tasted like water, I tried the shrimp and it was water logged too so I just put it to the side and did not complain anymore. The beef empanadas were good, so was the chicken empanadas according to my friend. I also got a shrimp taco and a bbq taco, they were good just too little. The disc was as big as a mayonnaise jar lid not a good value for $4 each. I will not complaint about the drinks, those were good. That affected me the most was the wait. We had to try and make some type of contact with the bartender to order. I was getting upset so I asked for the check which took FOREVER to get. I went on a holiday, which was super busy, but even so, service was prompt and attentive. Every single dish was inspired, layered with flavor, creative, and truly unique. The presentation was also lovely and each bite felt thoughtful and well-executed. I would order everything a million times over! One thing that especially stood out was the flan's texture, which was silky, delicate, and perfectly balanced. I was also pleasantly surprised to see fried green tomatoes on the menu. It felt like such a special nod to the restaurant's Southern location, blending regional influence in a really cool way. This is an amazing date-night spot that I truly hope sticks around for a long, loooong time. Everything about the atmosphere and experience makes it perfect for a special evening out. I'm already planning to go back and explore more of the menu, but based on my first visit alone, I might even dare to say this is the best vegan restaurant in Atlanta. The jury's still out, but I'm more than happy to keep doing the research to confirm!! lol Last thing I'll say is that I was so grateful not to have to wade through a bunch of non-vegan menu options to figure I it what I could actually order. I also don't have to wonder if my food was being cooked next to a slab of dead animal, which is not the case most places I go. So, thank you for being ALL vegan. The food is so good that there is no chance a non-vegan will feel they've missed out on meat anyway. Logistical stuff: I saw a little bit of street parking, but not a ton. Parking in the deck is definitely the easiest option. You could theoretically bike/skate the Beltline and just walk a couple of blocks to get there. It also means that it doesn't retain air conditioning... and they had a few industrial fans blowing. Great idea in theory but not so great in practice. The table where we were seated was uncomfortably close to other diners and felt cramped the entire time. We ordered three dishes to share and there was barely any room on the table. On the plus side, our server was lovely and took the time to ask us about our familiarity with Peruvian food and outline some standouts on the menu. I didn't mention this to him but the menu online doesn't seem to match what they had in person... for example I remember seeing a Colombian empanada option (which drew me there in the first place) on the website. Cocktails and food came out really fast. We had the ceviche mixto, octopus, and chaufa for food and I had the mango jungle water to drink. The prices were pretty high for the portion size of the food. The ingredients tasted fresh (the fish of the day was mahi mahi) and the flavor was there. The octopus had nice char but wasn't as tender as I would have liked. I'm not a big eater so these three dishes were enough for the two of us and we opted to go to the Asian bakery next door for dessert instead of getting something here. Honestly I would recommend Tio Lucho's hands down for ceviche and Peruvian cuisine. It was fun to try something new and different at Madre Selva but I just don't think the food measures up. Tio Lucho's is much closer to the Peruvian food that I know from my time living in Miami. I can't speak to the authenticity beyond that. Madre Selva did seem like it would be a lot of fun for a large group and/or when the weather is tolerable. The ambiance is incredible. On a related note... I don't think I've been down to the Lindbergh MARTA station since college and I was totally floored to see all of the restaurants and developments in the area (Tongue and Groove is still a thing?!). The benefit of going to Madre Selva is that you can take a stroll and visit some of the other nearby businesses as well.
