WARNING: DECEITFUL tipping practices! Suggested tip amounts printed at bottom of check are inflated. Our total with tax was $200. The bill showed $44 for a 20% tip - that's 22% of the taxed total and 24% of the subtotal. We only noticed because when the server took our credit card, he asked if he should add a 20% tip. We were surprised but agreed, then noticed the tip he gave himself was higher than 20%. When we told him this, he said he used what was printed at the bottom. That's when we saw that all the suggest tip amounts were inflated. This is either a system-wide error or an unscrupulous way to mislead guests to leave bigger tips. We told the manager, who replied that no one is forced to leave anything. We also found out that our server got someone's order wrong, then told the manager that we didn't like the dish. Dishonesty and suspicious practices throughout the restaurant. Buyer beware! The view is nice and drinks were good. Food was decent, not amazing, and overpriced because of the location. And the service was uneven - the server disappeared for long periods. But because of the questionable business practices, I would not recommend Las Brisas. read more

Views that never disappoint. Food presentation is great and the flavors never miss. Came for a last minute birthday dinner for my boyfriend who has never been. We were finishing up dinner and my boyfriend said to me, wow the service tonight has been amazing. He was not wrong! Danny was the bomb! We sat down around 11:30 and ordered coffee, an appetizer, and then our lunch. Somehow, our lunch came out before we had even received the appetizer، I told the person who brought the food that we were still missing our appetizer. There was no real reaction or concern; the lunch was simply taken back. Our server then came over and asked, still want the appetizer?" I said yes and the lunch right after , The appetizer eventually arrived, but about 45 minutes later, we still hadn't received our lunch. During all that tim nobody checked on us, asked if everything was okay but the young gentleman with water refilled! At that point, I had completely lost my appetite. I asked the young gentleman for the bill. Eventually, our server showed up with the check and told me, "Here's your check, and your food is coming shortly, I told him, "No, plase just cancel it." He walked away without saying much,Seriously!!! a few minutes later, our food was brought to the table anyway. That's when I asked to speak with a manager. He came over with a very dry "Hi, how can I help you?" His response to what I explained was basically that the server had forgotten about the appetizer,, and he was not going to have me pay for it, and I should enjoy my meal. That response bothered me more than the mistake itself. This was never about getting free food. I don't mind paying for a good meal and a good experience. I was looking for someone to acknowledge how poorly the situation had been handled and simply say, "I'm sorry." Instead, I felt like I was being told, "You're not paying for it, so what's the problem?" I even pointed out that I couldn't exactly "enjoy my meal" because I didn't have any silverware. I left the meal untouched and asked for the check. At the end, our server did apologize and explained that he was exhausted, works two jobs, was tired, and had been distracted. I appreciated that he at least apologized and was honest with us, but respectfully, none of that should become the customer's problem. Mistakes happen I understand that better than most, What matters is how they're handled. A genuine apology and a little concern could have completely changed this experience. Las Brisas you beautiful location and an incredible ocean view, but hospitality is about much more than the view. Unfortunately, based on this experience, the service and management fell far short of what I expected from a restaurant like this. read more

For appetizers, we tried the calamari served with two dipping sauces that paired with it perfectly, and the crab Rangoon taquitos. They were decent, though a bit underwhelming since the cream cheese flavor didn't really come through, I don't think it really had any to be honest, which was a bit disappointing. For our main course, the roasted chicken was well seasoned and served with potatoes, for a side we ordered garlic-tossed broccolini that was packed with flavor. Came here recently having discovered and only seen this place on Google maps, and surprised to see this low of a yelp rating lol. Well, I enjoyed it here :) my party came for weekend brunch on a beautiful day. 5 stars for the whole experience, 4 for the food. The restaurant is beautiful with lots of windows, spacious interior, and facing the ocean. Highlights of the food were the jalapeno cornbread, steak and lobster enchiladas (a little pricy but considering the protein I guess it's normal, the salsa was amazing though) and also enjoyed the burger and crab omelette. Overall prices for brunch considering the niceness of this place was pretty reasonable. Service was good. This seems like a perfect place for a boozey brunch, would definitely do that if I lived closer! Parking lot valet was full when we came. Had to find street parking a few blocks over. read more

Try it! I will add a note to the owners though, please Please please spend more time training your front staff. Some of the girls looked so confused , as someone who worked in restaurants as well i understand, but when guests are coming to a place to get 90$ steak and 75$ wine, they don't want to be greeted by people who don't know what's happening on their iPad or don't even know table numbers ! Las Brisas is an absolutely beautiful restaurant located in the heart of Laguna Beach. It sits up on a hill and has one of the greatest views in the city! This restaurant is upscale and has a great wine room when you first walk in. The bar is beautiful and they have several indoor and outdoor dining areas. The foot is a Mexican fusion with many tasty options. My only feedback is that there are not a lot of options for vegetarians who don't eat fish. I ended up getting the vegetable salad and it was more like a cucumber salad. I was surprised that there were no leafy greens, yet we still called it a salad. I'd love to see some other vegetarian options in the future. Like cauliflower tacos with a spicy chipotle sauce or something like that. Overall, great food, fantastic service and beautiful views. It came with only 5 "baby" scallops, the Corn Casserole was very disappointing, more like can creamed corn mixed with a few garnishes not like a casserole that you would expect. We visited Las Brisas on the Fourth of July because it's one of my dad's favorite spots from when he lived in California years ago. We went for lunch as walk-ins since reservations were booked, & the food, drinks, & ocean views were good. It's definitely on the pricier side, but that's to be expected. That said, the overall experience was disappointing. It was really loud with kids running around & big groups, which made it hard to enjoy a conversation with my family. After lunch, I was able to get a reservation because we wanted to watch the fireworks. But when I asked about how the reservations worked, I was told they don't pick up the phone & that everything had to be done online. Once I got the reservation, I went back to confirm it, & they said that if we wanted to sit outside, we had to order another full meal, not just drinks, which was fine. But when we arrived for our reservation, we checked in on time, but were repeatedly told to wait because other parties were being seated first. After waiting about 15 minutes, we decided to leave instead of spending more money there. We never did stay for the fireworks, & honestly, the view was not worth booking for anyway. The most disappointing part was the customer service. We were questioned about using the restroom even though we had already spent a few hundred dollars there at lunch. Having to explain that we were paying customers felt unnecessary. I understand that the Fourth of July is incredibly busy, and I get that the staff are under pressure, but I still expected better communication and a more respectful experience. Overall, I'd say Las Brisas might be worth it for a lunch with a nice ocean view, but I wouldn't recommend it for the holiday. I really don't know where to begin with this place. First of all we waited over 45 min to be seated with a reservation! They were very busy, but we felt like we were imposing every time we asked how much longer? We waited which seemed like forever to get our food which was warm at best. We didn't complained about the food because we had already ruffled feathers asking when we were up next to be seated? I think we were at the restaurant for a total of 3 hours. Mostly waiting to be seated and our food.. When we finally received our food it was night and we couldn't see what we were eating. One of the waiters put a fire on behind us to help with lighting bless him he truly cared. The lobster didn't taste that fresh either. Flavor-wise it was fine, just not something I'd come back for. The roasted chicken, though, was solid + tender, juicy, & well-cooked. My friend enjoyed it! Service was alright. Our server checked in every now and then but nothing super memorable. Price-wise? You're definitely paying for the view, not the food. We wanted to find a beachfront romantic restaurant and Las Brisas at Laguna Beach was perfect. We made sure our reservations were in time for the sunset with outdoor seating. Parking is very difficult between 5p-6p on a Saturday night in April so make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes early. We were seated right away and our server Danira was great. Very genuine and attentive. We ordered Cadillac Margarita and a Thyme for shine ( gin cocktail). Both were tastee. The guacamole for appetizer wasn't the best, I would suggest not to order it. For dinner we had the filet and it was excellent. I had the chicken mole enchiladas and they were great too. The view baby the ocean made the whole night amazing. Came here with a group of friends as we were staying nearby and our experience here was interesting to say the least. We made reservations earlier that day and came at our reservation time. The initial interaction with the hostess was a little bit weird since she was stumbling with her words and then she pointed and verbally directed us on where to go to find the "second hostess" which we thought was weird. At a place of this caliber, you'd think she'd walk us to where we needed to go, but no worries. We ended up talking to someone else who ended up seating us and also asked if we had reservations (which we had already told the first hostess). Not really a clear form of communication from the get go! Then, I think our experience got even more odd after our server, Sean (Shawn?)) introduced himself. We felt that during our entire dining experience, he was a bit awkward and made a few pauses and comments that were just straight up off. At some point he sort of question our ordering of food stating that he was thinking if it was going to be enough food for us. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where the server made a comment about that (unless of course we ourselves asked). In the end, what we ordered was sufficient and we were all full, but I thought it was odd. Also, he had mentioned that the guacamole can be varied based off of the spicy levels. We went for a hot level and it was not spicy to us at all. Would have thought that he would have followed up with us asking if it was a good level for us, but nope. My friends were also coming back from the restrooms at some point and asked him how his day was going and he replied with "weird" and that's it. Like what?? Anyways, food-wise... we would give it a solid 3.7/5. There were some things that stood out, but overall we weren't like overly impressed. The Tomahawk to me was not worth the price point. I've had better. You're definitely paying for the location no-doubt. I think our cocktails were also average as well. I don't think I'd really return. Views of course are gorgeous. Our food took a long time to come out, which was disappointing. The prices do not match the quality of the food. Everything we ordered fell short--the food simply did not taste good. My beef taco was especially disappointing; the meat was chewy and unpleasant. The cheeseburger was plain and underwhelming, and the fries were overly salty. The $20 "strawberries and cream" cocktail was also a letdown--it tasted bad and was not worth the price. The only redeeming part of this place is the ocean view. Where's the fun happy hour vibe that it used to be sitting out back with the ocean breeze having drinks and appetizers with friends for all the many years I lived up the street? Was so much fun and many great memories out on that patio! We were back visiting and now you can't sit out there unless you are having dinner, and it is a dead zone with numerous empty tables because the outside is now confiscated as part of the restaurant. That's nuts! What a waste. We were told if wanting "happy hour" we have to now sit at the inside bar where there's no direct coastline view and definitely nothing happy about it. We had a wonderful Father's Day brunch at Las Brisas! Our server, Lorenzo, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and patient as we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. He made sure everyone was comfortable and provided excellent service throughout our meal. Our table ordered the steak and eggs, pancakes, chilaquiles, and fish and chips, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The spicy martini was also fantastic and paired perfectly with the meal. Of course, the breathtaking ocean view made the entire experience even more special. Most importantly, my husband had an amazing Father's Day, and our family truly enjoyed our time together. I have never felt the need to leave a horrible review, but if it were possible, I honestly would not give this restaurant a single star. It is absolutely insane to me how poorly and aggressively Sarah, the manager, treated us. Yesterday, August 23rd, we had a reservation and arrived around 2:35-2:45 PM. Dinner started at 3:00 PM. We were initially told to go inside for a table, only to be told shortly afterward that there was no space inside and that we had to go back outside. This wasted even more of our time. It was nearly 3:00 PM when a blonde woman named Sarah explained to us that if we wanted dinner menus, we would have to wait until we were seated. Since we had a flight to catch and already knew what we wanted to order, we decided to use the brunch menus instead. Once we were seated, our server came over and took our brunch menus, saying he would exchange them for the dinner menus. It was around 2:57 PM at this point. Shortly afterward, Sarah, the manager, came over to us very rudely and told us that we could not have the dinner menus because she had already explained that we needed to wait until we were seated for them. The issue is that WE never asked for the dinner menus. We simply agreed when our server offered to exchange the menus because it was only a few minutes before dinner started. Sarah proceeded to blame us for having the dinner menus, even though we were not the ones who asked for them. We asked for Sarah's name, and to our surprise, she was the manager. If you are a manager and treat customers this way, you should not be in that position whatsoever. Truly disappointing and extremely unprofessional behavior. We eventually ordered our food with a new server, and his behavior was much better. We had no issues with him personally. However, we waited practically an hour for our food. I really do not believe it should take that long for relatively simple food, especially when we had already explained that we had a flight to catch. To make matters worse, there was a short, black piece of hair in my friend's food. She is blonde, so it clearly was not hers. By this point, we were already extremely frustrated with the entire experience. The view is beautiful, but it is absolutely not worth dealing with the behavior, service, and overall experience we had at this restaurant. I would not recommend it the only good part of this restaurant is the view. read more

Last time we were here I believe was when the pandemic COVID-19 was slowing down. The beach vibe never gets old because of the view of the beach from the restaurant. It was Nick who helped us and boy he was slammed but managed with the assistance of his team. Consider this restaurant if craving for Mexican food and looking for a beach vibe. But be prepared to look for a parking spot because their valet gets full and parking out of this restaurant can be costly (availability of metered parking unguaranteed) depending on how much time you spend at the beach area. read more
