The charcuterie was a great way to start, with a nice variety of flavors and textures. The burger was juicy and flavorful, while the salmon was perfectly cooked and satisfying. And the fries were crispy, golden, and absolutely addictive. The beautiful setting and relaxed atmosphere made the meal even more enjoyable. my friend made a reservation a while back for our reunion and we were so excited! the interior and exterior is gorgeous, great for photos for sure. everyone was dressed up & it was very aesthetically pleasing. we also got n/a drinks, i got the blackberry mule and my friend got the cucumber mojito. it definitely was on the sweet end so if you are a fan of sweeter drinks i would say you can try that. as for the food, i will say it was definitely overpriced and really not that worth it. oysters were very oceanic tasting and did not taste the freshest. my lobster salad was mediocre, with small bits of lobster in a head of butter lettuce. lobster rolls were also on the smaller end. redeeming factor were the truffle fries as they were thin and crispy as well as the delicious chocolate chip cookies they sent us home with for us celebrating my friend & i's late birthday/reunion. now THOSE were a 5/5! overall a little disappointing, i would say come if you're looking for a pretty photo op but do not have the highest expectations for food unless you order the fries lol (we also sat outside with the heat lamp on so that's why the pics are red!) read more

Tried this place for my birthday and it was a bit of a let down. The restaurant is located on the top of the Restoration Hardware store at Fashion Island. It is bright and aesthetically appealing for photos. The artichoke appetizer was 10/10. Crispy, flavorful and served with a delicious sauce. The burrata appetizer was ok. It was beautifully placed however it needed more balsamic for flavor. The shrimp cocktail appetizer had large size shrimp and was good but nothing extra notable. The truffle fries were crispy and delish. The whole roasted chicken was surprisingly a great main. The mini potatoes were crispy and the chicken was juicy. The steak frites was just ok. The portion was disappointing and it was cooked a bit more well than requested. The branzino was plain with semi-crispy skin that the meat stuck to. I had a much more flavorful and delicious branzino the day before at Marlena. They brought out a delicious brûléed banana with ice cream for my birthday which was nice. Sparkling or Still Pellegrino is the water choice. Overall the place has great vibes for drinks/appetizers/photo ops. If you want amazing food for the $, this is not it. What a stunning place to celebrate a birthday. I was invited as part of a birthday dinner so I can't speak to the reservation process, but I've heard it can be hard to get into and after experiencing it firsthand I completely understand why. We were there on a Tuesday at 5:45PM and the place was packed the entire evening. The space itself is incredibly beautiful, high ceilings with gorgeous chandeliers, lush high quality faux plants, and animal sculptures throughout. Since it sits on the fourth floor there are lovely views of the water. One practical note though: the elevator is not labeled on the directory on the first floor. I did not know it existed and walked up four flights of stairs to check in, which I would have very much preferred to skip. Worth knowing before you go! We started with the Délice de Bourgogne board (cheese board) and fries. The garlic aioli that came with the fries was delicious. For the main course our table shared the whole grilled branzino, French rotisserie chicken, charred wagyu ribeye, a classic Caesar, and crispy artichokes. The chicken was the standout for me, flavorful and perfectly moist. The ribeye was cooked a nice medium. The branzino was slightly too charred on the outside for my liking. Food took a little while to come out but we were deep in conversation and honestly didn't mind at all. A few people at the table ordered drinks including the rosé spritz which the waiter mentioned is one of their most popular drinks. The wait staff was wonderful throughout, attentive with water refills and genuinely helpful when answering questions. We lingered well after finishing our meal and were never once made to feel rushed. The restrooms were beautiful and well maintained. And the birthday girl's coffee came topped with the RH logo in foam which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. One small heads up: if you are seated inside near the windows around sunset the sun can be directly in your eyes. Maybe tuck a pair of sunglasses in your bag if you have an early evening reservation. Brunch at RH Newport Beach -- and make sure you ask for the brunch menu! We came in at 10 a.m. and were originally handed the regular menu. Thankfully, our server stopped and said, "Wait, I need to bring you the brunch menu!" We were VERY happy to hear that because we wanted a mix of breakfast and lunch options -- and the brunch menu was exactly what we were looking for. We tried the Italian Benedict, American Breakfast, and Chinese Chicken Salad, and then did the only responsible thing and ordered a few things for the table. Our server tipped us off to the strawberries with cream, which are apparently an off-menu item, and we also shared the Swedish pancakes. The Italian Benedict was my favorite -- so unique and absolutely delicious. The prosciutto was perfectly salty and made the whole dish. But everyone agreed that the strawberries and cream were one of the best things we ate. DO NOT SKIP THEM. And the Swedish pancakes were amazing too! The one miss for us was the American Breakfast. My friend still really enjoyed it, but the eggs weren't cooked quite right and the potatoes were overly fried. One person at the table even thought they had a slightly fishy taste, almost like the frying oil had picked up flavors from other foods. With so many other interesting things on this menu, that's probably the one dish we'd skip next time. Such a pretty restaurant! Everything was aesthetic, the mood was great, and the service was amazing! I will say though, the prices of the items are pricy. Don't get me wrong, the food was still pretty good! But I think for the price, I expected way more. The house made chips with caviar was so yummy! The chips were perfectly crispy and salty. My visit here was spontaneous and I was pleasantly surprised by the positive overall experience. This restaurant does not have ocean views, despite its name. The ambiance, menu selections of food and drinks and service were all fantastic. Ordered the French cocktail, the Parisian petit baked potato with golden Ossetra caviar, the whole grill Branzino sans the head, the Creme brûlée and signature latte. I have been to RH twice once for lunch and this time for Brunch, and it was absolutely 5 stars. The restaurant itself is located on the 4th floor and absolutely gorgeous! Recommend reservations by all means because they seem to be busy all the time!! If running late they hold to the 15 minute grace period. Ok onto the food. Brunch was absolutely lovely on the weekend. I had the American breakfast and it was filling and delicious! My hubby claims they have the best pancakes in the OC and he is a pancake connoisseur so take that as you will. Otherwise, they provided complimentary chocolate chip cookies which were warm and gooey! Drinks are solid here. I love the peach Bellini and the aperol-- all 5 stars! This was my first time here. I don't frequent here so I am unsure how the parking usually is but we found parking right away and not far from the place. Inside was beautiful. The first few floors are the furniture and the top floor is where the restaurant is. The staff were all really nice and attentive. They were all professional. I got the shaved ribeye dip and it did not disappoint! It was delicious! My friend also got truffle fries and I highly recommend. Best surf and turf I've ever had in my life! I'm talking about the Wagyu Ribeye and the King Crab. Wagyu Ribeye (medium rare) was sliced and had some kind of amazing apple-wood infused crust. King Crab was pre-cracked and even pre-sliced and was wonderfully seasoned. The Chilean Seabass was overcooked. I think they were determined to get a nice sear on it but it was a thin piece, not the typical cube chunk. We don't need to get that again. The Truffle Fries were great. Wine is pricey but they have a $25 corkage fee if you bring your own. They add an extra 4% service charge to your bill. The Affogato for dessert was awesome. If you want to see the view or the sunset, note that there is a tall wall around the exterior of the outside deck so you can't see much, unless you're standing up. And if you arrive too early for the sunset then all of the blinds are down covering the windows in order to reduce glare. If you want to browse the furniture store prior to or after dinner, note that it closes early as per the overall shopping mall hours of operation. Lastly the biggest crime of this place is that there is no bar to hang out at. I can envision a nice big long bar in the middle of the restaurant. Wouldn't that be nice. read more

First time at RH for dinner and it did not disappoint! We started off with the crispy artichoke hearts - I'd never had them prepared that way - so delicious! For our entrees I had the branzino and hubby got the ribeye sandwich (our habit is to always share plates w each other!) The fish was light and flaky; sandwich was divine especially with that au jus! RH Ocean Grill is a truly design lover's dream, with some of the prettiest aesthetics you'll find in a rooftop restaurant, featuring sparkling chandeliers, olive trees, and a stone fountain. The interior and exterior are both exceptionally gorgeous, with the latter offering spectacular panoramic views of the California coastline. But enough about the design. How do the food and drinks stack up? We ordered the fried artichokes, lobster roll, bluefin toro caviar carpaccio, and steak frites. Safe to say, every dish was a hit; I'd highly recommend each one. From the cocktail menu, the Rosé Spritz was worth ordering more than once, while the Paloma Rose also made an excellent (and deceptively strong) choice. The only issue we had here was the service, which could've been better. Our waiter didn't really check on us after taking our order, and we had to flag him down each time we needed something. Our reservation was around 6:30 PM which was perfect because we were able to enjoy our dinner during sunset time. The salmon was cooked perfectly in my opinion and the mashed potatoes had lots of flavor. The lamb chops were also cooked well, but we're a bit small. The grilled shrimp was the star of the show. There was lots of flavor and I would definitely recommend trying this as an appetizer. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. RH is my ideal place for a special occasion outing. They are consistently beautiful across all locations, and their interior and atmosphere is super hard to beat. I love how the interior space still makes you feel like you are outside, and the fountains and chandeliers are just lovely. For the price point, service could be better. They were also remarkably busy and sat us 10 minutes late for our reservation. Food took a while which was fine because we were enjoying our time there, but I did notice this. The couple next to us even had to ask the server again about their food. I had much higher expectations from an RH location, to be honest. I also wanted to point out that I love the mini RH lobster rolls and have had them at other locations. There was a noticeably lacking amount of lobster compared to my other experiences. Definitely room for improvement. Looking at the photos from this location versus other times I have gone are so disappointing. Can't say I'd come back to this location. Wife had been dying to try despite the 3.5 star reviews and you'll know why in a min. Comparing to another high end restaurant (Cren @ Dior in Los Angeles) the vibes and space was definitely much better. But the food came out waaaaay slower and tbh not as hot or as tasty as you'd expect. First up were the Truffle Fries ($18) for a small serving of crispy fries tossed with truffle oil and topped with Parmesan cheese. Side of truffle aioli. This was by far the best tasting dish albeit could've been hotter because it did feel slightly greasy too quick. It was crispy and flavorful tho. 4.5 / 5 Next we had the Crispy Artichokes which was a let down. I get the concept but the inedible fibrous parts were frustrating, would've expected more of the artichoke hearts but instead got a bowl of greasy mediocre tasting (even though there were rosemary springs fried with it) artichoke leaves where some were edible and others not so much. Also they sit on a bed of deep fried potato slices so you're not getting as much artichoke as it looks. This is a hard pass. 1/5 Next the beef carpaccio came out which presented well, taste wise was lacking and could've used a sprinkle of Malden sea salt or something. Would've thought the sprinkle of caviar would provide that saltiness but it didn't. Maybe a bed of arugula would've helped or some lemon zest. 2/5 On to the main dishes. I had the prime rib dip and wife had the king crab roll. Both of which had good flavor but tbh could've used some side accoutrements. The prime rib was juicy and the nicely crisped roll but there was a decent amount of fat chunks that could've been removed for such a premium priced sandwich. The drippings to dip was nicely salty and flavorful. Could've used either a side pairing of creamy horseradish or inside the sandwich as a horseradish aioli to break up the one noted flavor. 3/5 The king crab roll was the most premium item at $58 which would've expect a heaping pile of crab meat, but sadly what you see is an optical illusion. The crab was piled on top of a nicely buttered and plancha toasted bun but the bottom layer was a lot of mayo (or whatever aioli they put in) so it was only about halfway filled and concentrated the center. I'd say maybe less than 2 pinches of crab meat. Flavor wise it was delicious and the lemon gives it that tang we all love with seafood. 3.5/5 mainly for worth it value Lastly what we didn't picture were the drinks, which were actually nicely made cocktails so try those without fear. Service wise after we sat, ordered, and received our drinks our waitress rarely came by to check in. Maybe once or twice but definitely wasn't in the time span we were eating to where I could've asked for horseradish or any other supporting things for our dishes. Overall the ambiance is nice, the storefronts and 3 levels of showroom below it were immaculate and gorgeous, but the restaurant part was lacking in what you'd expect from a high end dining establishment. Total bill was over $200 for what you see and nothing really gave us the "wow this is delicious that we'd come back for". Mainly gave us memories of the same dishes done 10x better elsewhere. Serve your food hotter, rethink your artichoke, and provide your customers with a little more substance in the dishes. read more

Starting off with the ambiance, this restaurant is beautiful! One of the prettiest fine-dining restaurants I've been to, thus far. Lots of natural lighting here & there's also a balcony outside where you can overlook the ocean. This place is definitely one of those instagram-esque places to celebrate special occasions. Our server was incredibly sweet and checked-in on several occasions without over doing it. We had placed a reservation in advance and waited roughly 10-14 minutes to be seated. The staff also took note of our request for a little sweet treat for my birthday, which I really appreciated! Aside from the gorgeous interior/decor & pleasant customer service, I do not see myself returning as it's one of those special occasion places when looking for fine-dining. Price point is extremely steep (as expected); however, my main gripe are the portion sizes. We ordered: - steak frites $54 - shaved ribeye sandwich $38 //// the steak frites was pretty good, but it being a "bavette" cut -- it's not a premium cut compared to ribeye, etc. so for the price point & portion size, it's unreasonable. as for the sandwich, it was underwhelming & cold. the portion size was basically a snack. Nice place to visit for special occasions, but wouldn't return due to portion sizes & I firmly believe there is better quality fine-dining for the price that you are paying for. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of the RH building, and I was wandering around looking for the elevator, but the downstairs staff was so kind and actually walked me over. Our server seemed busy, but still very sweet and attentive, and everyone bringing out food and drinks had such warm energy and smiles. One of my friends mentioned the service feels much better now compared to when they first opened, so maybe that explains some of the older lower ratings?? Had such a lovely lunch at RH Newport Beach. The space itself is absolutely beautiful -- bright, elegant, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon. We came with family and ordered several dishes to share, which ended up being the perfect amount for us. We started with the Truffle Fries ($20), and they were definitely worth ordering. Crispy, generously topped with Parmesan, and full of truffle flavor without being overwhelming. The Mini Lobster Rolls ($40 for two) were probably the cutest dish on the table. The brioche was buttery and lightly toasted, with plenty of sweet lobster meat inside. The caviar on top made them feel extra special. They are definitely small, but really good for sharing as an appetizer. The Honey Glazed Salmon ($42) was one of my favorites. The salmon had a beautifully caramelized exterior while staying moist and tender inside. It came with creamy mashed potatoes and grilled lemon, and everything worked really well together. We also ordered the Grilled Shrimp ($26). The shrimp were large, nicely charred, juicy, and simple in the best way. The grilled lemon added just enough acidity to balance everything. And of course, we had half a dozen oysters ($30). They arrived beautifully presented over ice and tasted fresh, clean, and briny -- a great way to start the meal. Overall, the food was very solid, but the beautiful setting really makes the whole experience. It's definitely on the pricier side, but for the atmosphere, presentation, and a special lunch with family, I thought it was worth it. Honestly, I don't know why this place has bad reviews. The food is actually really good. The ambience is beautiful and I would not imagine a better place to watch the sunset. Service here is a little questionable. I came in as a walk-in and they told me the earliest seat time would be 8 PM. I checked online and they had a 715 730 and 745 reservation so I just booked a reservation went upstairs and they sent me at the reservation time. I've been here a few times and people come here mostly to take photos, but the food is actually good. It's a beautiful restaurant so I understand the photos too! Would def come back . I decided to treat my mother & myself out for a brunch as a mother's day gift and as a birthday present to myself. I was a bit lost finding the restaurant, as I hadn't realized it was on the top floor of the 4 story RH Gallery building. I decided to step into the gallery to ask for directions, only to be led to their elevator that was hidden away down the hall. Stepping in, I was bewildered by the gorgeous accents and attention to detail of the interior. It felt like I was in a royal greenhouse garden prepared for tea time. Everyone was so kind and quick to assist despite being so busy. Even as my mother had asked for our photos to be taken, one of the servers took his time to snap a few pictures and made sure we were happy with the outcome. The food was served instantaneously and everything was fresh, no complaints there! It was my second ever time trying lamb chops and I've got to say, I definitely enjoy it a lot more than I did my first. As for complaints.. After notifying our server about my casein/dairy allergy, our truffle fries still came with grated cheese and the cookie, I'm assuming, likely had dairy. There was also an obnoxiously large cube ice in my drink, so there was hardly 3 shots of nonalcoholic beverage in my glass. My mother absolutely loved every bit of it though! The Roll is small, but buttery and delicious, and the interior and exterior decor lovely Restoration Hardware chic. The chocolate are gooey and yummy to complete the meal. Came with a former coworker, she invited me because she said she knew I'd love the sunset: it was gorgeous! We didn't have a full meal, but I did have a lobster roll and a Caesar salad. The dressing on that salad is the best I've ever had on a Caesar! After some wine and coffee, we decided to share a desert and we had the bananas that are flambéed and also come à la mode: YUM! This place is perfect to have a nice conversation and enjoy the view. I saw a lot of couples so I guess is also considered romantic! We did feel a little rushed, but other than that it was a OK experience. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely come back in the early afternoon hours. read more

High expectations for this beautiful restaurant with the most amazing ocean views! I should have known better. HR is so hyped everyone wants a piece of the experience and I was one of them, including my husband. The restaurant which sits above levels upon levels of home furnishings was almost like a hotel museum in terms of design and decor. Huge and luxurious. Getting back to the restaurant, as expected food would be phenomenal and of course pricey but the food didn't complement the ambiance of the restaurant at all. The RH Burger was so plainly presented with no fries. Fries is a separate item. The burger was pretty salty too. The Chinese Chicken Salad was a little bit more presented and yet nothing special. Stopped in on a whim and was seated within five minutes. I sat outside on the patio by a water fountain and it was so peaceful with the ocean breeze. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. The classic Caesar with filet mignon was honestly one of the best and most unique Caesar salads I've had. The dressing had this bright citrus, almost lemon like flavor that made it fresh, vibrant and completely different from a traditional Caesar. So delicious. The truffle fries were crispy and addicting. I had the Pierre Sparr Brut Rosé Crémant d'Alsace, which was perfect for the patio, followed by an espresso cocktail with Belvedere Vodka, Mr Black coffee liqueur and cold brew. Finished with a warm sea salt fresh baked cookie. Ashleigh was an amazing server and made great recommendations. Beautiful atmosphere, great food and an easy, spontaneous dining experience. I decided to give RH another try for breakfast, and I will say our experience was way more pleasant than last time. The service was much faster, our server was a lot more attentive, and our food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. The food was actually pretty good and surprisingly filling. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I still think you're definitely paying more for the ambiance than the food or service. I 100% prefer going in the morning over dinner, but I still don't really feel the need to go back again. read more

Second time here and I really think our server made the experience even better, pretty sure her name was Kristen. She was amazing and all her recommendations were spot on. The ambiance is obviously gorgeous, and the views are just as good. We came on Easter Sunday, the weather was perfect, and we sat outside with a larger party, there was just the right amount of shade, which made it even more enjoyable. Let's start with the star of the show: the Chinese chicken salad. So delicious. The thinly sliced avocado with baby green onions was the perfect touch. The shrimp cocktail was super fresh and the shrimp were huge. My least favorite was the wagyu ribeye, we asked for medium and it came out closer to well done, with a lot of fat. I hate sending food back, so we just dealt with it. The Caesar salad with chicken was good, and the baked potato (Kristen recommended it!) was a hit. We also ordered broccolini, which was cooked perfectly. Lastly, the banana split we almost skipped, so glad we didn't. It was so yummy, with a crème brûlée style banana that was just mm mm mmm.
