Went to RH Ocean Grill with my girls before our movie for drinks and light bite We had the lobster rolls with caviar, oysters, charcuterie board, and champagne. Everything was good, but the lobster rolls were especially amazing! Service was also really great. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of the RH building, and I was wandering around looking for the elevator, but the downstairs staff was so kind and actually walked me over. Our server seemed busy, but still very sweet and attentive, and everyone bringing out food and drinks had such warm energy and smiles. One of my friends mentioned the service feels much better now compared to when they first opened, so maybe that explains some of the older lower ratings?? The vibe here is gorgeous!!! The decor and chandeliers are just perfect, this place is made for girls!!! Food is so yummy, pancakes were perfect and thin. French fries are perfect & crispy. Of course the interior design of the restaurant is magnificent. Service was very attentive and generally fast. My coffee was refilled at least 3 times. We went for a weekend brunch. The brunch menu is nothing to write home about. I had the RH scrambled that come with a few thinly sliced toasted bread, half an avocado and soft scrabbled eggs. Came with a former coworker, she invited me because she said she knew I'd love the sunset: it was gorgeous! We didn't have a full meal, but I did have a lobster roll and a Caesar salad. The dressing on that salad is the best I've ever had on a Caesar! After some wine and coffee, we decided to share a desert and we had the bananas that are flambéed and also come à la mode: YUM! This place is perfect to have a nice conversation and enjoy the view. I saw a lot of couples so I guess is also considered romantic! Second time here and I really think our server made the experience even better, pretty sure her name was Kristen. She was amazing and all her recommendations were spot on. The ambiance is obviously gorgeous, and the views are just as good. We came on Easter Sunday, the weather was perfect, and we sat outside with a larger party, there was just the right amount of shade, which made it even more enjoyable. Let's start with the star of the show: the Chinese chicken salad. So delicious. The thinly sliced avocado with baby green onions was the perfect touch. The shrimp cocktail was super fresh and the shrimp were huge. My least favorite was the wagyu ribeye, we asked for medium and it came out closer to well done, with a lot of fat. I hate sending food back, so we just dealt with it. The Caesar salad with chicken was good, and the baked potato (Kristen recommended it!) was a hit. We also ordered broccolini, which was cooked perfectly. Lastly, the banana split we almost skipped, so glad we didn't. It was so yummy, with a crème brûlée style banana that was just mm mm mmm. My friend and I had dinner at RH Ocean Grill. Obviously the restaurant was a stunner. It was located on the top floor of a RH furniture store, so the restaurant matched the high end vibes. You also can't beat the views. That said, I thought the food was OK. We ordered the crispy artichoke and regular fries to share. The crispy artichoke leaves were overdone for my liking. Nice aioli that the dish came with though. It was much needed to soften the charred taste of the artichoke leaves. I enjoyed the plain fries much more than the artichoke. I got the lobster roll as my entree, which was tasty and refined, but a disappointment for what it was worth. I've had luxurious lobster rolls for the same price ($36) that were double the size of the one that I got at RH Ocean Grill. read more

Came here for date night at RH Rooftop Restaurant Newport Beach and I have mixed feelings. The space is beautiful. From the moment you walk in, everything looks elevated and well designed. The rooftop views are great and it's definitely a nice spot for photos. We did have to wait about 15 to 20 minutes past our time because they were really busy. For food, we ordered the 14oz tomahawk, shrimp, asparagus, potatoes, and a Caesar salad. We like to share everything, so we prefer it all to come out together, but that didn't happen. The shrimp came out first, then the salad, then asparagus. We were still waiting a while for the steak, and the potatoes came out last. It threw off the whole experience because we couldn't enjoy everything together. My partner ended up eating the asparagus first because we were so hungry. The steak came out lukewarm, not hot, which was disappointing. The potatoes were also not great. They looked oily and like they had been sitting there for a while. We also ordered a mojito and a blueberry Moscow mule, both mocktails, and they weren't good. I would skip those. Service was okay. Not bad, just not very attentive. Our server didn't really check on us until we were already done. Overall, this feels more like a place you go for the atmosphere and pictures rather than the food. For the price point, I expected the experience to match. When you're spending over $350 on dinner, you want everything from timing to food quality to feel elevated, not just the setting. The views and ambiance were beautiful, and we still made great memories, but the overall dining experience didn't quite live up to what you'd expect. I'd rate it around a 3 out of 10. read more

There is certainly much beige-beige-beige in the décor of the RH Ocean Grill, located around the back of Fashion Island Newport Center, in Newport Beach, not far from Macy's Department store. There is parking right in front of the restaurant. There also appears to be a valet posted at that location in case you wish to avail yourself of valet parking service. The hostess was pleasant on the Saturday I visited at 10:45 am. There is a breakfast menu available, but we ordered from the "All Day Menu", which was vastly preferable to all the "breakfasty" items. The caviar with avocado or caviar with beef carpaccio are fun, but the presentation from the kitchen is lackluster. The caviar is simply strewn atop the item willy-nilly. A little crowning pile of caviar with micro greens and flowers would have looked more elegant to the eye. The brass and smoked glass chandeliers overhead are really pretty, Service by Carson Josiah Felix was gracious and superb. We were sad when he was re-assigned to a new section mid-meal. The new server at our table was a woman who seemed to push-push-push the meal pace in an obvious motive to "turn the table"'. Note to that server: You really do NOT need to ask us about dessert while we are in the process of eating the main course. And slapping down the unrequested check is not something that would make RH proud. When we were taking the elevator down to the ground level, we encountered a Design Associate by the name of Richard Whittiker. He was very kind and professional, and we had a nice conversation about the RH world of design and lifestyle. Thank you, Josiah and Richard. We ordered a Gem Salad with grilled shrimp and a Lobster Roll. Lobster Roll was expensive when compared to other Lobster Rolls. It was good but, not the best one I ever had. We were able to get seated without reservations and the wait staff was very attentive. Bathrooms were set up as personal bathrooms with a toilet and sink. I am not a fan of the hand tissue stacks. RH Ocean Grill is a skylit atrium, natural light flooding amply through the glass ceiling. The rainy day did not darken the room. The olive trees are real, by the way, with some clocking in at around 100 years old. We ordered the Prosciutto Board, Chinese Chicken Salad, Crispy Artichoke, Grilled Shrimp, Charred Wagyu Ribeye, and Chilean Seabass. Ingredients were high quality and the execution precise albeit on the safe side. Service was attentive with several timely checkups. A member of our party was celebrating a birthday, and our server remembered to bring a warm chocolate chip cookie with a lit candle. Multi-tier crystal chandeliers, a central fountain, marble tables, stone floors, glazed roof- RH Ocean Grill is a respectable architectural and design feat. The atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed. Is it lacking personality? Sure, and that's because it's decor, not art and more showroom than gallery. It's display of grandeur and opulence is pretty on-brand for this area of OC. Very solid upscale restaurant attached to the RH Newport Beach filled with many beautiful customers and more beautiful wait staffs and servers make this place very popular and appealing to everyone. The brunch menu was smart and tailored to various tastebuds and wine, cocktails and deserts were fantastic. However when it came to the nitty gritty foods, they just don't make it right. The food quality just doesn't match the price, quality, taste and overall saltiness. The Classic Cesar salad came out with huge bread squares that were deep fried as the original croutons, but was so big and tasteless, the heart of the Cesar salad is the fresh romaine salad served chilled and crunchy fresh, but instead they were wilted and lifeless. The excessive salty tastes were accentuated by the salty anchovy addition. The Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich was plain as can be with few arugula dipped in olive oil and was salty as well as extra arugula on the side again extremely salty and didn't register any butter or Aioli tastes. The Shaved Ribeye Dip had salty Emmentaler Swiss Cheese with salty Au jus once again making the entire sandwich about saltinesses and nothing else. The truffle fries were thinly cut and came out with thick white garlic Aioli sauce that we liked. Overall four solid stars. Next time we will ask to hold the salt and return non fresh salads. read more

The RH Ocean Grill is a gorgeous location on the 4th floor of Restoration Hardware at Fashion Island. I was very excited to come here for brunch with some girlfriends. The patio has ocean views and on a nice warm day was perfect! This was a picturesque meal through and through. From the ocean views, to the foot and drinks, I was inspired! RH is beautiful - it's like a gallery for home decor. Walking up the gorgeous staircases to the roof was an experience within itself. The food was pretty good, my mocktail was ok and probably overpriced, but the experience was totally worth it. And major shout out to the staff! They are working hard, while keeping a smile on their faces. As a huge fan of Restoration Hardware furniture, visiting the RH Newport Beach gallery is always a treat. Walking through the stunning showrooms before heading up to the third floor for the RH Ocean Grill makes the whole experience feel like a special event. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our servers were incredibly attentive and friendly, giving us a great intro to the popular items and helpful suggestions for our meal. We started with the Mini Lobster Rolls to share. They were topped with caviar and tasted amazing, though they truly are "one-bite" minis! For mains, we shared the Grilled Shrimp Salad and the Branzino. The shrimp salad is one-of-a-kind--the warm grilled shrimp paired perfectly with the fresh greens. The Branzino was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, clearly grilled over charcoal which gave it a beautiful finish. To drink, we tried the Strawberry Rosy cocktail since the RH House Bellini was unfortunately out of stock, and it was a delightful alternative. My boy and I drove out to Costa Mesa to handle some business and decided to stop by the RH Ocean Grill for drinks and to admire the view since it was a recommendation from a friend who spoke very highly of the place. So upon arrival, there is plenty of parking because it seems it's located in a mall or something and might I add that the place is huge lol. I think it's located in a luxury furniture store and we decided to take the stairs up (smh). Anyway, once we reached the top, the restaurant is gorgeous! We were quickly seated because, I believe, we arrived around 4pm, before the crowd came. I'd say about two hours later it was dark and packed. This is definitely a place to come watch the sunset, as we did, and it was beautiful overlooking the ocean from the distance. Our waitress was very cool and attentive. She quickly got our drinks and a butter scotch brûlée. I ordered the blackberry mule and it was so good! I wanted two but I had to drive and my boy ordered a few espresso martinis. I tried his martini and it was hella strong but pretty good. I'm not sure how he took down two of those lol. Anyway, the brûlée tasted exactly as advertised, "no words". The top had the perfect crunch and the inside was so rich and creamy with a thick consistency that blended together so well. We saw the food come out and it looked good, however, a lot of the reviews mentioned it wasn't that good, so maybe we'll give it a shot and see for ourselves. I will say that the menu did seem a bit limited and I didn't really see anything I wanted anyway. Overall, this is a very nice place. I would def come back to try the food but this review is rated on the drinks, dessert, the atmosphere and service and it was solid! The meal felt incredibly decadent from start to finish--every dish was rich, thoughtful, and beautifully executed. Service throughout was very attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The hamachi was incredibly fresh with a light, clean bite, paired with a bright, citrusy sauce that didn't overpower the fish. The chips and caviar were a standout! The paper-thin chips were perfectly crisp, and just indulgent enough. Definitely a must order. The Caesar salad was another surprise hit, with a bold, well-balanced dressing and perfectly crunchy croutons. For mains, the lamb chops were cooked spot-on and paired nicely with the potatoes. I decided to treat my mother & myself out for a brunch as a mother's day gift and as a birthday present to myself. I was a bit lost finding the restaurant, as I hadn't realized it was on the top floor of the 4 story RH Gallery building. I decided to step into the gallery to ask for directions, only to be led to their elevator that was hidden away down the hall. Stepping in, I was bewildered by the gorgeous accents and attention to detail of the interior. It felt like I was in a royal greenhouse garden prepared for tea time. Everyone was so kind and quick to assist despite being so busy. Even as my mother had asked for our photos to be taken, one of the servers took his time to snap a few pictures and made sure we were happy with the outcome. The food was served instantaneously and everything was fresh, no complaints there! It was my second ever time trying lamb chops and I've got to say, I definitely enjoy it a lot more than I did my first. As for complaints.. After notifying our server about my casein/dairy allergy, our truffle fries still came with grated cheese and the cookie, I'm assuming, likely had dairy. There was also an obnoxiously large cube ice in my drink, so there was hardly 3 shots of nonalcoholic beverage in my glass. My mother absolutely loved every bit of it though! We also ordered the fried artichokes, which were good but nothing special. For my main course, I ordered the filet mignon. The steak was okay, but the meat quality was average and not what I expected from a place with this reputation. Since it was a birthday celebration, we were hoping for something a bit more special. Instead, they brought out a very plain chocolate chip cookie cake. The server didn't suggest ordering a dessert and adding a candle, which would have been a much nicer option. The birthday gesture felt rushed and unimpressive. I also tried a martini, which was very average and didn't stand out. Overall, I might recommend this place only for the view and the fancy décor. I went to RH Restaurant, and honestly... mixed feelings. First, the wait was rough. Even though we had reservations, it took 30 MINUTES just to be seated, and to make it worse, they placed us outside despite me having indoor reservations. When I told the hostess, she genuinely did not care and brushed it off, stuck us on the side, and ignored me after that. Not a great first impression at all... The service overall was slow and inattentive. It took exactly 63 minutes for all of our food to arrive at the same time, which felt excessive. They also didn't check in to ask how our food was, and while they refilled our water once at the beginning (barely), they never came back to refill it again. Now... the food is where things got better, yet still not perfect. The lobster caviar roll was honestly highly overrated. There was no sauce, which made the lobster taste dry and pretty flavorless. A little salt or even a light sauce would've made a huge difference. The filet mignon was the standout: super soft, cooked perfectly, and the pepper crème sauce that came with it was absolutely perfect; rich, balanced, and exactly what the steak needed. The sea bass was cooked beautifully, but again, it lacked a sauce, which made it feel incomplete. That said, the polenta was insanely yummy however; super soft, creamy, and comforting. The truffle fries were soooo good; strong, earthy truffle flavor and easily one of the best items we ordered. One thing that also threw me off: their online menu doesn't match the in-person menu, which was confusing and not what you expect from a place like this. That said, the ambiance is unreal. Inside is drop-dead gorgeous with massive chandeliers and an elegant, upscale feel. Outside is just as stunning with a water fountain, making the whole place feel luxurious and aesthetic. Still think the Seafood Tower (Half) is a great deal and super fresh and tasty! Better value than some of RH Ocean Grill's high end competitors. The house-made chocolate chip cookies with sea salt are a must order, and if you bring your own bottle of wine, the $25 corkage fee is very reasonable. Ambiance is beautiful, and the people watching is also fun. Service, however, can be hit or miss, as it often feels like the floor is teeming with staff but they still take a long time with service, whether it's seating you when you have a reservation, taking orders, or responding to a request for more water, or because you haven't received your entire order. We also had several instances where waiters tried to deliver us things we didn't order. Hopefully these kinks get worked out, because the food is never disappointing! read more

The food was okay for its price. Was hoping it would've tasted better. The mini lobster rolls were good as a snack . I wouldn't recommend the beef carpaccio. It was flavorless. Their whole chicken was good if you want a healthier meal. Service was slow and I feel like we got lied to when they say they added a shot in a mocktail. I loved the RH Rooftop in NYC so while visiting Newport Beach I knew I had to come for drinks at this location. I was not disappointed at all. The lighting is the perfect hue of dim and bright which really sets the mood. It has incredible interior and exterior decor, so dress your best for some photos! The restaurant is on the pricier side but you could easily order some shared plates to get your money's worth. This was the perfect place to end the night! read more

Loved the views and service! The food is yummy can add up if you are really hungry! Everything is ordered separately. For example burger but add fries as a side or steak but add a side mashed potatoes, esperagus. I had a salmon it was phenomenal but ñ had to add veggies. I also got a tiger shrimp appetizer super yummy and my family had oysters. Party of 8 with drinks wasn't bad $1000 tab. They do accommodate cake cutting and being out a candle and cookie as a dessert. They do charge to cut the cake for you and for the plates. All in all a beautiful restaurant but recommend coming early later in the day it's very busy. We had a 4 pm reservation. Only con the security guard doesn't allow flash photos once the display rooms shut down so walking out we had to use no flash for all photos. He was a bit rude and we didn't really know the reasons behind it. Restaurant gets the full 5 stars other then that. read more

Been here a few times and each time I'm amazed by the beautiful view and the elegance of the restaurant. It's a large space with both indoor and outdoor seating. I prefer to sit outside for those views. Since it's always packed, the service is fairly slow both at the coffee and wine bar and at the restaurant. But they are very friendly and try to do their best. The biggest downside is the cost, but it's to be expected in Newport Beach. read more
