Tried this place for my birthday and it was a bit of a let down. The restaurant is located on the top of the Restoration Hardware store at Fashion Island. It is bright and aesthetically appealing for photos. The artichoke appetizer was 10/10. Crispy, flavorful and served with a delicious sauce. The burrata appetizer was ok. It was beautifully placed however it needed more balsamic for flavor. The shrimp cocktail appetizer had large size shrimp and was good but nothing extra notable. The truffle fries were crispy and delish. The whole roasted chicken was surprisingly a great main. The mini potatoes were crispy and the chicken was juicy. The steak frites was just ok. The portion was disappointing and it was cooked a bit more well than requested. The branzino was plain with semi-crispy skin that the meat stuck to. I had a much more flavorful and delicious branzino the day before at Marlena. They brought out a delicious brûléed banana with ice cream for my birthday which was nice. Sparkling or Still Pellegrino is the water choice. Overall the place has great vibes for drinks/appetizers/photo ops. If you want amazing food for the $, this is not it. Note: the server was amazing 10/10.

What a stunning place to celebrate a birthday. I was invited as part of a birthday dinner so I can't speak to the reservation process, but I've heard it can be hard to get into and after experiencing it firsthand I completely understand why. We were there on a Tuesday at 5:45PM and the place was packed the entire evening. The space itself is incredibly beautiful, high ceilings with gorgeous chandeliers, lush high quality faux plants, and animal sculptures throughout. Since it sits on the fourth floor there are lovely views of the water. One practical note though: the elevator is not labeled on the directory on the first floor. I did not know it existed and walked up four flights of stairs to check in, which I would have very much preferred to skip. Worth knowing before you go! We started with the Délice de Bourgogne board (cheese board) and fries. The garlic aioli that came with the fries was delicious. For the main course our table shared the whole grilled branzino, French rotisserie chicken, charred wagyu ribeye, a classic Caesar, and crispy artichokes. The chicken was the standout for me, flavorful and perfectly moist. The ribeye was cooked a nice medium. The branzino was slightly too charred on the outside for my liking. Food took a little while to come out but we were deep in conversation and honestly didn't mind at all. A few people at the table ordered drinks including the rosé spritz which the waiter mentioned is one of their most popular drinks. The wait staff was wonderful throughout, attentive with water refills and genuinely helpful when answering questions. We lingered well after finishing our meal and were never once made to feel rushed. The restrooms were beautiful and well maintained. And the birthday girl's coffee came topped with the RH logo in foam which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. One small heads up: if you are seated inside near the windows around sunset the sun can be directly in your eyes. Maybe tuck a pair of sunglasses in your bag if you have an early evening reservation. A minor thing for an otherwise luxurious experience I would highly recommend.

Brunch at RH Newport Beach -- and make sure you ask for the brunch menu! We came in at 10 a.m. and were originally handed the regular menu. Thankfully, our server stopped and said, "Wait, I need to bring you the brunch menu!" We were VERY happy to hear that because we wanted a mix of breakfast and lunch options -- and the brunch menu was exactly what we were looking for. We tried the Italian Benedict, American Breakfast, and Chinese Chicken Salad, and then did the only responsible thing and ordered a few things for the table. Our server tipped us off to the strawberries with cream, which are apparently an off-menu item, and we also shared the Swedish pancakes. The Italian Benedict was my favorite -- so unique and absolutely delicious. The prosciutto was perfectly salty and made the whole dish. But everyone agreed that the strawberries and cream were one of the best things we ate. DO NOT SKIP THEM. And the Swedish pancakes were amazing too! The one miss for us was the American Breakfast. My friend still really enjoyed it, but the eggs weren't cooked quite right and the potatoes were overly fried. One person at the table even thought they had a slightly fishy taste, almost like the frying oil had picked up flavors from other foods. With so many other interesting things on this menu, that's probably the one dish we'd skip next time. Overall, such a fun brunch in a gorgeous setting, with a really sweet and helpful server who definitely steered us in the right direction. Next time I'm going straight for the brunch menu, the Italian Benedict, Swedish pancakes and -- obviously -- those strawberries and cream!

Such a pretty restaurant! Everything was aesthetic, the mood was great, and the service was amazing! I will say though, the prices of the items are pricy. Don't get me wrong, the food was still pretty good! But I think for the price, I expected way more. The house made chips with caviar was so yummy! The chips were perfectly crispy and salty. It paired really well with the caviar and crème fraiche. The grilled branzino was cooked perfectly but it was tiny. We also ordered the Wagyu ribeye which was seasoned perfectly! But we asked for medium rare but it was half medium rare half medium well done. We also got the Chinese chicken salad, it was fresh and the perfect size. And lastly we got the pomme royal mocktale, the drink was refreshing! Overall, it's cute dinner spot for dates or girls nights but you are paying for the vibe or to be there!

RH Ocean Grill is the rooftop restaurant at the Restoration Hardware furniture gallery in Newport Beach. My visit here was spontaneous and I was pleasantly surprised by the positive overall experience. This restaurant does not have ocean views, despite its name. The ambiance, menu selections of food and drinks and service were all fantastic. Ordered the French cocktail, the Parisian petit baked potato with golden Ossetra caviar, the whole grill Branzino sans the head, the Creme brûlée and signature latte. All portioned perfectly and plated and presented nicely. Everything tasted as good as it looked. Service from the host/hostess and servers was courteous, professional and very good. Was delighted with such a lovely lunch experience and would be happy to return. Whether you're shopping for home furnishings or just want a delicious food and drinks, RH Ocean in Newport Beach is worthy of your visit. Recommend

I have been to RH twice once for lunch and this time for Brunch, and it was absolutely 5 stars. The restaurant itself is located on the 4th floor and absolutely gorgeous! Recommend reservations by all means because they seem to be busy all the time!! If running late they hold to the 15 minute grace period. Ok onto the food. Brunch was absolutely lovely on the weekend. I had the American breakfast and it was filling and delicious! My hubby claims they have the best pancakes in the OC and he is a pancake connoisseur so take that as you will. Otherwise, they provided complimentary chocolate chip cookies which were warm and gooey! Drinks are solid here. I love the peach Bellini and the aperol-- all 5 stars! Drinks are $18-$23, Service honestly cannot get any better. They are always attentive and go above and beyond. RH is a gem in fashion island and definitely recommend!

RH Grill is absolutely stunning-the space is gorgeous and definitely the kind of place you go for the ambiance. Perfect for date night, brunch with the girls, or if you want to take some beautiful photos. Hosts and servers were nice and attentive. The food was good, but nothing really wowed me except the lobster rolls. Everything is on the pricier side, so you're paying as much for the atmosphere as you are for the meal.

This was my first time here. I don't frequent here so I am unsure how the parking usually is but we found parking right away and not far from the place. Inside was beautiful. The first few floors are the furniture and the top floor is where the restaurant is. The staff were all really nice and attentive. They were all professional. I got the shaved ribeye dip and it did not disappoint! It was delicious! My friend also got truffle fries and I highly recommend. The garlic aioli it came with was phenomenal and I would go back just for that aioli. Overall really nice high end place to have a cute brunch.

Best surf and turf I've ever had in my life! I'm talking about the Wagyu Ribeye and the King Crab. Wagyu Ribeye (medium rare) was sliced and had some kind of amazing apple-wood infused crust. King Crab was pre-cracked and even pre-sliced and was wonderfully seasoned. The Chilean Seabass was overcooked. I think they were determined to get a nice sear on it but it was a thin piece, not the typical cube chunk. We don't need to get that again. The Truffle Fries were great. Wine is pricey but they have a $25 corkage fee if you bring your own. They add an extra 4% service charge to your bill. The Affogato for dessert was awesome. If you want to see the view or the sunset, note that there is a tall wall around the exterior of the outside deck so you can't see much, unless you're standing up. And if you arrive too early for the sunset then all of the blinds are down covering the windows in order to reduce glare. If you want to browse the furniture store prior to or after dinner, note that it closes early as per the overall shopping mall hours of operation. Lastly the biggest crime of this place is that there is no bar to hang out at. I can envision a nice big long bar in the middle of the restaurant. Wouldn't that be nice.

First time at RH for dinner and it did not disappoint! We started off with the crispy artichoke hearts - I'd never had them prepared that way - so delicious! For our entrees I had the branzino and hubby got the ribeye sandwich (our habit is to always share plates w each other!) The fish was light and flaky; sandwich was divine especially with that au jus! My favorite part of the meal (besides the beautiful sunset) was dessert - one of the best desserts I've ever had - butterscotch creme brûlée. To DIE for!! Our server was fantastic and the ambiance was hip and chic...lots of fun people watching. ;)

You know you're in for not only a culinary treat, but also a visual one when dining inside a Restoration Hardware. RH Ocean Grill is a truly design lover's dream, with some of the prettiest aesthetics you'll find in a rooftop restaurant, featuring sparkling chandeliers, olive trees, and a stone fountain. The interior and exterior are both exceptionally gorgeous, with the latter offering spectacular panoramic views of the California coastline. But enough about the design. How do the food and drinks stack up? We ordered the fried artichokes, lobster roll, bluefin toro caviar carpaccio, and steak frites. Safe to say, every dish was a hit; I'd highly recommend each one. From the cocktail menu, the Rosé Spritz was worth ordering more than once, while the Paloma Rose also made an excellent (and deceptively strong) choice. The only issue we had here was the service, which could've been better. Our waiter didn't really check on us after taking our order, and we had to flag him down each time we needed something. I get that the restaurant can get busy, but we had expected more, given its refined, upscale setting.

This place is truly beautiful! You can tell that lots of effort and thought was put into the design of this place. Our reservation was around 6:30 PM which was perfect because we were able to enjoy our dinner during sunset time. The salmon was cooked perfectly in my opinion and the mashed potatoes had lots of flavor. The lamb chops were also cooked well, but we're a bit small. The grilled shrimp was the star of the show. There was lots of flavor and I would definitely recommend trying this as an appetizer. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He gave us recommendations and let us know that we can go outside to take pictures during sunset.

RH is my ideal place for a special occasion outing. They are consistently beautiful across all locations, and their interior and atmosphere is super hard to beat. I love how the interior space still makes you feel like you are outside, and the fountains and chandeliers are just lovely. For the price point, service could be better. They were also remarkably busy and sat us 10 minutes late for our reservation. Food took a while which was fine because we were enjoying our time there, but I did notice this. The couple next to us even had to ask the server again about their food. I had much higher expectations from an RH location, to be honest. I also wanted to point out that I love the mini RH lobster rolls and have had them at other locations. There was a noticeably lacking amount of lobster compared to my other experiences. Definitely room for improvement. Looking at the photos from this location versus other times I have gone are so disappointing. Can't say I'd come back to this location. Food was good though, and I did like that they brought out a candle with dessert to celebrate my birthday!

Beef carpaccio was a bit underwhelming

Ask the Community - RH Ocean Grill at RH Newport Beach

Do they have brunch menu on friday?

Yes they have some breakfast items

Khaki shorts and a linen shirt ok?

Sounds good...I'd recommend a closed toe shoe. It's very upscale-Newport/Fashion Island vibes.

    Are jeans appropriate?

    Yes

    Any gluten free options?

They will happily accommodate any allergies! They are very accommodating

Are there elevators for wheelchair access?

    Yes

Is there a cork fee, if so how much is it per bottle?

$25 per bottle you can bring up to 2!

Are small dogs allowed? I know fashion island is usually dog friendly?

    yes many were here

    How's the bar area?

Basically non-existent. There are 2 small counters flanking the kitchen where you can get a coffee or a glass of wine. It's not designed for anyone to sit or hang out.

Do they serve liquor (i.e. tequila vodka whiskey)?

No, they only serve wine, sparkling wine, and I believe some spritzers but no other hard liquor

    Is it reservation only?

It is not, but it is bustling since they just opened, so I recommend making reservations. We walked in on Saturday and were able to get a table, but there were only 2 of us, and we were early at around 5:00 pm.

Now here's the thing, I've never really had a great lobster roll. It's always been so overpriced for the lack of flavor and just never really worth it. Luke's was the first and truly one of the best places I've had a lobster roll, and honestly it was kinda shocking. We ended up getting the flight, which came with a crab roll, a shrimp roll, and a lobster roll, and all three were phenomenal. But what completely shocked me was that the shrimp roll was a hundred percent the best of the bunch. The butter it came with, that pure savory sweet ocean saltiness, the bread, the butteriness of it, I wish I had ten of them. I could have sat there and eaten all of them right then and there. The shrimp roll was number one for sure, which really surprised me, but it was that good. The lobster roll was a solid second. Great amount of lobster too, and I mean this isn't the kind of place that gives you two or three sad little pieces, they pack a whole handful of lobster in there, which I really appreciated. If you're paying a pretty penny for it, at least they came through with a generous amount. The crab roll though, that one completely fell short. I wasn't too bummed since I was way more locked in on the lobster, but the crab just wasn't there. I don't know if the crab itself just didn't have the flavor this catch around, but it tasted like watered down salt with a little bit of butter. So yeah, that one was not great. Lobster and shrimp though, wonderful. The clam chowder was also really good. I added a little pepper just to give it an extra kick and a little bite, and it was great. The staff were so sweet too, super welcoming and helpful, especially since it was our first time and we had no clue what to get. We hit them with a bunch of questions just to get their insight and hear what their favorites were, and they were awesome about it, really welcoming and just genuinely sweet and helpful. This is definitely one I'd love to go back to, and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a good lobster roll. Truly a good place in my opinion.

You order your food, and there is a small seating area behind the shop that is shared with a wonderful coffee shop. There may be limited seating. We came in for Saturday morning brunch with friends and were greeted and seated pretty quickly. The restaurant itself is beautiful, especially with the views overlooking Newport Bay. Definitely a great setting for a weekend brunch. Our server was prompt, friendly, and accommodating throughout the meal. I went with the Knife & Fork Burrito and really enjoyed it. They nailed the potato to egg ratio, which I feel like breakfast burritos get wrong way too often. The salsa, guacamole, and sour cream on top all worked really well together and gave it a nice balance of flavors. It was also the perfect portion. I left satisfied without feeling like I needed to be rolled out of the restaurant. My wife got the crab eggs Benedict and really enjoyed hers as well. Overall, Shorebird offers just as good of an experience as it looks like it will from the outside. Beautiful restaurant, great views, good service, and a solid brunch. Definitely a spot I'd come back to whenever we're in town again!

There is convenient underground parking on-site, though the spot gets noticeably busy after 7 PM. Oysters: We tried both the oysters on the half shell with smoked sherry mignonette and Tin's dressed oysters topped with ponzu, tobiko, and Tabasco. Both preparations were fantastic--exceptionally fresh, clean, and briny, with the dressed version bringing just the right punch of citrus and heat. Hamachi Crudo & Seared Tuna Tataki: Both raw plates were spot-on. The hamachi was delicate and buttery, while the seared tuna tataki had great texture and bright, clean seasoning that let the fish shine. Caesar Salad with Chicken: Crisp, well-dressed, and topped with juicy, nicely prepared chicken. A simple classic executed properly. Between the quality food, great drinks, and lively harbor-side energy, it's a great spot to kick off a night out.

Their happy hour is available from 4-6pm in the bar area and they have it every day which is amazing. We came on a Saturday close to dinner time and the bar was full, but luckily we found a few seats. The happy hour cocktail menu includes $4 off wine, $2 off well drinks and beer but most importantly $10 margaritas. The Tavern Margarita is a basic margarita but it's done well. They also have a Skinny B version that has more fruitiness and is also really good. They actually have a pretty big happy hour menu. I had a BBQ Spice Shrimp Taco ($9) that was so flavorful and not too spicy. The Charred Brussel Sprouts ($10) were crispy with bits of bacon and a hint of sweetness. Their Island Style Poke ($15) was a little salty but good. I liked the Coconut Crusted Shrimp ($15) but wouldn't get it again for only 3 pieces. I normally prefer calamari rings over strips but their Calamari & Blistered Shishito Peppers ($13) weren't too thick and had great flavor. It's a really nice spot by the water that doesn't feel too pretentious. Parking is valet only or if you don't mind a short walk there is a free lot nearby. We enjoyed the food we tried and I'm curious to see what their Sunday brunch is like next.

The place has limited free paring for guests, but you can park at the nearby lots for a small fee. The place is well run and clean and provides excellent views of the harbor. Service was excellent, always attentive and friendly We came for lunch and they have a weekday happy hour menu until evening which was very convenient. Their happy hour menu is great for snacks and appetizers. Highly recommend the onion ring tower. Great app to share. The Tuna tacos were average and nothing special. Their menus offer a variety of offerings primarily around seafood (duh!), but they do offer non-seafood protein options as well for those not a fan of seafood. Drinks they have a full menu and bar so feel free to order what you like I opted for an old-fashioned which was delicious, not too weak, not too strong either. For food, I went with the swordfish. As someone who eats a lot of tuna and salmon at home, when I eat out, I tend to prefer white fish. Swordfish is perfect as it has a "steak-like" preparation and very filling. This one was cooked very well, the rice pilaf has a nice flavor to it and the veggies are cooked just right. Next time I'd ask for the fruit salsa on the side as it doesn't do much for the dish. Other popular dishes our party got was the seafood pasta and definitely check out their daily specials

I went on a monday night and got the baja bucket which was the deal for the night ! The baja bucket contains. 4 lobster tails, 12 shrimp, 2 corn on the cobs, chicken, steam, rice and beans, tortilla, and a salad (or up charge soup) plus fried ice cream at the end. OMG! It was soooo good, the food is flash fried which worked perfectly for this meal. Everything was cooked perfectly, j clouding the lobster. I enjoyed every bite. I will say I split this with my boyfriend and there was sooo much food that by the time the ice cream came around it was hard to fully indulge in because I was so stuffed! Modal night the deal brings this meal to about 70/80 dollars. That is honestly so much food and hard to come by in 2026! I've been telling so many of my friends about the experience here. The servers were attentive and very knowledgeable. The place looks like a cute tiki dive bar but restaurant style. It' has a cute waterfall that we were able to sit next to. Also their cocktails are nice! Cannot wait to go back

The lobster was good, shrimp pretty meh but the Alaskan King Crab ruined just about everything. Steak was ordered Medium but came out Done, chicken was basic, and corn was chewy and not fresh like it had been boiled, steamed, and then grilled. The margaritas we ordered were too sweet and about 16oz with only one shot in the drink ($18 each) not worth the price for juice and hardly any alcohol. Now, back to the ruinous Alaskan King Crap (not a typo). The crab was molting which means when you crack open the shell there's a leathery skin on the meat inside that's supposed to replace the outer shell when the crab is still growing, this extends to the spikier parts of the crab and if swallowed could cause issues and is dangerous to eat. My girlfriend and I tried to eat around it and see if it was just a few legs but it was the whole damned thing. Our wonderful server offered us a replacement of snow crab but our total bill was never adjusted so we paid for King Crab and never got it. I hear that this is par for the course for this place which is sad because this place used to be pretty legendary. Too bad, I don't recommend but left a star for our server who was awesome.
