Upon first entering, Las Brisas looks like an immaculate place for fine dining. It has a great beach view location if you manage to get a good table. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, and our waiter was friendly. We both ordered the Barramundi dish, and decided to add chips and salsa. The chips were sadly stale, and we ended up getting a guacamole added that we didn't order. A surprise, but we typically do not fuss. The guacamole was pretty decent, although definitely nothing special for $16. There was no offer to refill the chips, and the amount provided was clearly insufficient for the salsa and guacamole. Sadly, we were not offered to even refill our water. That part was disappointing. The fish was perfectly fried and had a good balance of crisp skin and tender flesh, and underneath was a bed of chimichurri and two masa biscuits. The "micro herb salad" was decorative at best. It comes with no sides, so bear this in mind. I get they're trying to lean on the gourmet approach, but I've been to gourmet restaurants with more attentive service and better portions or at least sides. The dessert was where Las Briasas shined! We ordered a Tres Leches cake ($13), and admittedly this was a great choice. Not too sweet, and not too soggy. Just right and it was the right size for two to share! A must try! I wanted to give this place a 5. Sadly, it has room for improvement. I give it a 4 overall. Definitely worth noting that pay parking ($2.50 / hr) is available nearby up to 7PM. After that it's free. I had high hopes to enjoy the New Years Pre fixe menu that they offered but sadly disappointed. The food was very mediocre as the rest of my party agreed as well. Service: 10/10 our server was very attentive and conversed well with light heartedness conversations. He paid attention to detail well to try to make our dining experience pleasant. He was understanding and accommodating to our requests to send our filet mignon back for a Re-fire as well but after it being raw for the second time we didn't want to be more of a bother. The hostess was also very sweet and accommodating as well. Food: 3/10 started off with the caprese and chicken flautas. Caprese is hard to mess up so I have no key notes on that dish. Chicken flautas- the whole dish itself was missing key flavoring components, but overall bland. The skin itself was way too thick making it soggy, guacamole was fresh but had no other flavor than lime. Main course- short rib with risotto and the filet mignon. Short rib itself was dry and overly salty including the risotto which I think was heavily salted and overly powered by a certain herb. I don't think the flavor components meshed well together at all. The filet mignon simply seasoned with salt and pepper, but it was served raw when asked for medium rare, we sent it back twice but afterwards and our server asking for a Re-fire we weren't longing to wait any longer that evening. When it came out I could tell the filet was blasted with high heat burning it instead of a good sear while the inside was still raw. Dessert was lava cake and the flan which was enjoyable. The ambiance itself is pleasant with a good view though. read more

I have been coming to Las Brisas for over 40 years. It is a special place for my husband and I to celebrate. Last night we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with our friends, their 35th anniversary. They had never been here before. I wish I could say everything was wonderful but it wasn't. The atmosphere is amazing but the food was not the same quality it used to be. The lobster tail was very tough, you could hardly cut through the bottom. The desserts were tiny, the coffee tasted like water. The service was good. I did see a few broken umbrellas, the bathroom was in need of attention which takes away from the elegance of the restaurant. When I come to a place like this my expectation is that the management cares about the details. I did not see this. I know that because of the location you will always have a good business. But it would be great if I could recommend it to friends but not anymore. read more

Came here for brunch. They have a fixed menu for brunch. They give you Mexican sweet bread and fresh fruit while you look at the menu. They had bottomless mimosas but we chose to order cocktails instead. We ordered a Blueberry Jalapeño Margarita for me. I love spicy drinks. We also ordered a Paloma del Mar, and a peach mojito. All came out really pretty! Great presentation! But most importantly.... They were all delicious! For starters... You have 4 choices to choose from. We tried the pozole and Caesar salad. Both are delicious. I really enjoyed the pozole. Could have had another bowl. Then we all got the crab omelet. It came with crispy potatoes and tortillas. The omelet was delicious! It had tons of crab meat in it. It was very fluffy too. The crispy potatoes were perfect! Very flavorful! For dessert... They gave us a complimentary cheesecake because we were celebrating a birthday! And we also ordered flan. Both deserts were good but the fkan was just amazing! Perfect texture! Not too sweet either which I really like! We ordered coffee to go with it. YUM! Service was very slow though. It took forever to get our order and forever for the waiter to bring our check. Every employee was super friendly but I did wish we didn't have to wait so long for certain things. It's $52, a person for their 4 course preset menu. It's a lot of food. For just the view alone this place is great. It is right by Laguna Beach where the waters are clear and the restaurant overlooks the ocean. The food on the other hand was not. We were taking a walk on Laguna Beach and thought we would try out this restaurant. When we got into the restaurant the host greeted us and was nice. We had a long wait to get in as there were a few big parties ahead of us. When we got in, we got an indoor seating next to the window that overlooked the ocean, and I was very happy about that. Our server greeted us not long after we were seated and got us started with some waters. We just wanted to stop by for a quick breakfast, as we had other plans afterwards so we didn't order much. We ordered one avocado toast and one breakfast sandwich. Honestly, I've never gotten food so fast except from Mcdonald's fast food. The food got here in less than five minutes since we ordered and I was shocked. I guess the avocado could be cold, but even the "toast" part was cold. The breakfast sandwich and potatoes were also cold! The food got here not only fast and was cold which made me wonder if the food was premade/precooked, or just packaged? To start with the potatoes that come with the breakfast sandwich they were hard and cold. More importantly, they were dry. I know some potatoes are dry, but these were dry. I didn't even eat more than three pieces because it was hard to swallow. For the breakfast sandwich the egg in it was cold and the bun was just dry. There was bacon in it that was also cold and just hard. It was just completely crunchy like a chip and very thin and small. The only thing I liked in the sandwich was the tomato slice in it that helped to give some softness to the inside of the bun. For the avocado toast, the only thing my friend and enjoyed was the guacamole and pomegranate seeds on it. Everything else was just fine. We only took one bite of the bread and thought that it was just too hard and dry. Maybe the dinner menu is different but the brunch was just not up to par. We didn't pack anything to go even though half the meal was left and felt bad wasting food, but the food just wasn't ok. Overall, the views are great, service was good; as the host was kind, we got our order taken quickly, was served quickly, and got to pay the bill fast (may be because we were seated right next to the billing table), but we didn't enjoy the food. read more

I honestly don't understand the hype around Las Brisas. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had. We arrived on time for our reservation and still waited over 15 minutes just to be seated. Once we finally got to our table, the service never improved. We went without water for far too long, the drinks were disappointing, and the staff was anything but welcoming. The food was the biggest letdown. Everything we ordered was incredibly bland and lacked any real flavor. For a restaurant with this reputation and price point, the quality was unacceptable. What made the experience even worse was that no one seemed to care until we asked to speak with the manager and explained just how terrible everything had been. Only after hearing our complaints did the manager offer a 50% discount. While we appreciated the gesture, it didn't make up for the experience. Not once did anyone offer a sincere apology or make us feel like valued customers. Beautiful location, but unfortunately the views were the only highlight. Between the long wait despite having a reservation, poor service, disappointing drinks, flavorless food, and lack of hospitality, I wouldn't recommend Las Brisas or return. read more

The first burger was smaller than usual and to our surprise Carter had the chef come to our table and brought another burger. I've been a repeat customer, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. After finishing our meal, we waited over 25 minutes just to get the check. During that time, we asked multiple times and still received no assistance. The delay caused me to miss an appointment afterward. What frustrated me most wasn't the wait itself, but the complete lack of service throughout the meal. Water was never gave it to me, I don't have any water even after I left , there was very little attention paid to the table, and we spent much of the dining experience waiting. After leaving a reduced tip that reflected the service we received, the server (blue shirt, possibly named Hassam) questioned the amount. When I explained that I had waited over 25 minutes for the check and felt the service was lacking, his response was simply, "It's okay." No, it's not okay. I then asked to speak with a manager. The host's response was equally unprofessional. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue, I was told that I could leave a Yelp review if I was unhappy. At the point, when I was waiting for the manager, the waiter finally trying to give us water, the host lady stop the waiter, I also overheard comments implying that we were there "just to complain," and stop the waiter give me water. which was both surprising and disrespectful. The manager eventually spoke with us, but by then the damage had already been done. I wasn't looking for a free meal or a discounted bill. I simply expected basic hospitality, accountability, and respect for a paying customer. This is a beautiful restaurant with great potential, which makes the poor service culture even more disappointing. The food wasn't the issue. My wife and I were walking along the beach trail in Laguna Beach around 3pm on Memorial Day, and decided to stop somewhere for a late lunch with an ocean view. We chose this restaurant because it wasn't busy and there were several ocean-view tables available. When we checked in at the register, I specifically asked for an ocean-view seat. The waiter told us he couldn't guarantee it, even though I could clearly see multiple open tables. He claimed they were fully booked but said he would "do his best." After waiting about 15 minutes, we received a text saying our table was ready. However, the waiter took us to an awkward corner table where the ocean view was mostly blocked by a fence. I politely asked if we could sit at another available table with a much better view, but the waiter told me that section didn't have a waitress assigned to it, so it wasn't available. My wife and I were hungry, so we reluctantly accepted the table. But about five minutes later, we watched another group -- who had checked in after us -- get seated at the exact table I originally requested. At that point, it was obvious we had been misled. We were extremely disappointed and decided to leave without eating. Easily one of the worst dining experiences and customer service experiences we've had. We will not be coming back. read more

I was hoping for a smoother, more marinated texture that makes the flavors better. The chicken tacos were cooked well and presented beautifully, but they lacked flavor. I kept waiting for something to tie it all together but it didn't happen. I used a lot of lemon shrug and it made it more flavorful but it was lackluster... The wine selection by the glass was surprisingly grim, which was a bit of a letdown for a place with such an upscale vibe. My cocktail was excellent(I got the strawberries and cream) but when I asked for a Stella as my second drink, they didn't carry it..... so I ended up with a ginger ale. I really wanted to love everything here, and it came close. The view and service are top-tier, but at this price, the food and drink options need to rise to the same level. I came here on Saturday, 4/26, and unfortunately, it was raining during my visit. Despite the weather, everything went pretty well. Our server -- I believe his name was Oscar -- was amazing. There was a drink I wanted from the menu that wasn't available, but he had it custom-made for me, which I really appreciated. The food was good, although next time I'll probably try something different. The view was really nice, and I enjoyed sharing the meal with my family. The only thing I didn't like was the valet service -- it cost $10 just for them to park our car about five feet away, which felt unnecessary. I recommend parking by the entrance along the street and paying the street meters instead ($1.50 per hour), which is a much better deal. read more

From the beginning, his attitude... to the end. And even though we told him we had a birthday girl from the beginning, we had to tell him and asked him to please bring a cheesecake for the "birthday girl" which he did, with no candle. And soon after he was bringing cakes with lighted up candles to other tables ... We decided to pay and move to the outside patio and was the best decision ever. I ordered the La Diabla cocktail and it was perfection. We shared the tomahawk steak for two, which was cooked perfectly tender and flavorful even Tony said we wouldn't be disappointed and we sure weren't! The rice and beans weren't our favorite pairing (a bit underwhelming compared to the rest), but the guacamole and salsa totally made up for it so fresh and authentic! Husband had butter poached lobster on a bed of potato chile gratin. I think he liked the gratin more than the lobster (it was his first time trying butter poached lobster and he is more of a fan of the traditional lobster tail) and I had the seared sea scallops. I think I was the winner at dinner because they were perfection! We also had tableside guac & chips before dinner and it was delicious. The chips and salsa were amazing as well! Shrimp- 9/10; 5 shrimp may not seem fulfilling but it definitely was and the flavor of the sauce was chefs kiss Steal- 8.7/10; flavor is different from your normal steak which made this unique. It was butterfly cut so it was cool just as ordered which was medium well. Enchiladas- 8.5/10; good amount of steak and lobster in each enchilas so definitely worth the price. Tres leches cake- 8.5/10; not overly sweet and it had coconut flakes which was different but still great Cheesecake- 9/10; definitely order if you like cheesecake! Going to Las Brisas used to be quite an event; however, the food was tasteless and completely overpriced. The Sunday menu was so limited; an egg sandwich that was - blah. The eggs Benedict were terrible, with little Hollandaise sauce, and the toasted English muffin was hard and greasy; the meat was Farmer John-sliced fatty ham. The fingerling potatoes were hard as rocks- They could've been sliced in half and seasoned properly, but overseasoned and overcooked is not good. If you order pancakes, you only get a small stack. Oh, and the waiter was not a happy person. I don't feel he wanted to be there - he didn't seem to enjoy his job - not a people person, at all. The ambience is all you get: a beautiful ocean view. We enjoyed some of their signature cocktails, as well as Napa Valley wines . The location is amazing . They do offer street parking however they have valet parking for $10. And restaurant was not full at all many meet tables. I requested a table by window and they said those were reserved which was insane because we ate and left and tables were empty right in front of us. I know there was a parade so apparently parking went to them Our waiter tried to give manager a heads up introducing us and letting him know about parking and he was not interested. Will never return. I have been wanting to take my sister there for so long and it was a disappointment whoever is managing this place needs to be re evaluated because location is beautiful read more
