Went here on a random late Saturday morning, we were out and about and needed to eat. Everything else looked busy or wasn't open. Went here and were seated right away, wait staff took a minute to round but it seemed like they were getting started for the day still and they had tables on the patio. Wasn't sure what to expect, ordered some breakfast food, tacos, and sodas. All of the food was excellent, best breakfast burrito I think I've ever had and I was not ever expecting that. Stopped in for the first time tonight my husband and I and let me tell you.. this place is amazing! Just what the city has been missing . From the colorful inviting decor; to the tasty prawn taquitos and margaritas. It was incredibly busy and for good reason. Our bartender Dallas was great, very informational and suggestive when it comes to the food and drinks. I came in this evening but have already recommended las caliveras to everyone that I know. 10/10 read more

We had dinner at Las Calaveras on Saturday July 19th. The food and atmosphere were great, but wait and bar staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than service. We endured long waits to get water refills and rounds of drinks, which was very disappointing with how great the food was. It was our first visit, so hoping it was just an off night for them. read more

Stopped by on Saturday during happy hour with no reservations. Place was mostly packed but had a few open tables. The young hosts seem to be struggling trying to figure out where to seat groups and we waited quite some time before being led to our table. Reservations may have been a better option. Decor matches the name with large photos of models painted in day of the dead masks. It was very noisy inside with several large groups around us. No sound dampening. Our waiter was attentive even though he was also working a large group. We ordered house margaritas and chips and guacamole to start. Guacamole was yummy and house made chips were crunchy although some were very greasy. Margaritas were weak and very bland. I ordered the shrimp & chorizo skewers and the mahi croquettes. My mate ordered a grilled halloumi BLT and a Baja shrimp taco. Skewers were good but a bit heavy on smoked paprika. Croquettes were rather flavorless and gummy. Taco was good but the abundance of sliced raw jalapeño overwhelmed the flavor. Our favorite was the BLT. A nice flavor combo. For dessert we had the horchata tres leches cake. Very delicious and would eat that any time. Overall we found the menu a bit disorganized and not really specializing in any thing with some hits and misses. Willing to try again with our young adult family but not likely to become a regular haunt. read more

My daughter suggested this for dinner. To be honest after getting seated and looking at the limited menu, I figured it is what is. Our server Marlie (could be wrong name) started to change my experience. We had picked out me we're going to order and she mentioned the special for the evening. Wagyu steak with vegetables and baked potato. We decided to split the meal and my girlfriend ordered tacos. Was surprised that chips and salsa were not included, we ordered chips n salsa and the goat cheese jalapeño. Chips and salsa were amazing and worth the money and the jalapeño side was delicious. When our main dish came out, presentation was top shelf and was probably one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Definitely worth the money and next time I am in town, we will go back. Highly recommend the restaurant, one dislike was the live music. It was loud and not patron friendly. Luckily we left just after it started, tone down the music and let people enjoy the food and their conversations. read more

This is our new favorite place. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. The staff is friendly and well trained. Sophia (our server this visit) was especially lovely. And the food is insane!! The service from the bartender was great! The drinks were too. However, don't be fooled by the name. The food is mediocre. Very Americanized "Mexican" food. Nothing authentic. Cafe Ole is better than this. 80's rock was playing. No Mexican music at all. Again, don't be fooled by the name or decor. We were disappointed for sure. read more

I really wanted to love this place! However, it just fell flat. We went on a Friday with reservations at 5:45pm. They were busy, it was a Friday. We had to wait a little bit for our table which wasn't a big deal. Our waitress, was very friendly and nice but she had too many tables assigned to her. We order margaritas and a beer off of the happy hour menu. We had an EXTENSIVE wait to receive our drinks. Our waitress did come and apologized for the delay and stated the bar was really backed up, which was understandable since we did order right before happy hour ended. She asked if we waited to place our food order while we waited for the drinks which we did. The food menu has a really odd layout and is hard to understand. The kids menu is really lacking as well. We finally got our drinks and seconds later received our food. I don't understand why management would let the bar get that far behind. Our food was just ok. I got the prawn taquitos. The prawn was extremely over done and I had a hard time biting through the prawn with my teeth. It was supposed to be stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeño. I tasted zero jalapeño and it was so bland and over cooked. My husband got the birria tacos and said they were really good but not anything special. My two son's got a chicken taco and a beef taco. The chicken taco lacked so much flavor. We did order chips and dips. The cheese sauce had a weird texture. Almost like they threw a bunch of flour into it to make it appear thicker. The guacamole was really good and the salsa was ok. My sister and her boyfriend both agreed that their food was just ok. My sister and boyfriend order another round of drinks and again we were hit with a very long wait to receive them. So my take away, maybe try them on a weeknight away from happy hour. But I would avoid at all cost during any sort of rush and don't expect to taste any flavor in your food. read more

Very tasty! We had the elk slider, ceviche, and the prawn taquitos. The taquitos are kinda hard to eat because they fall apart but you will pick up all the bits because the flavor is amazing. The cocktails were delicious also. Our server had lost her voice so it was tough to communicate, a lot of pointing, and then she charged us for another table's meal. waitress was nice at first, then was bartending and sadly ignoring us, took long time to get guacamole side, to go containers, then had to wait almost 20 min while she served drinks to just get our check. did not like that no receipt is shown to you upon her wanting your cc. was told she could print it 'after'. we just wanted to see the charges first. and yes the bill was wrong and overcharged. food was ok, husbands flautas were served on a shot drink tray making it difficult to cut/eat. $2 for a super tiny cup of guacamole, really? I met a girlfriend for lunch. we had our choice of three different types of tables, it was too cold to sit outside. we started with chips and three "sides" that were guacamole the house salsa and the bean dip.
