I had a bad experience a couple of weeks ago during a work xmas party. The manger of the evening made my group of people move from our table so people at the bar could sit down. There were plenty of tables available in the same area. The manager, Ellen, was very rude. And she even stated that she had to move us because her manger saw on the camera that we were not ordering food, kind you, my group was sitting at a bar table in the var area and we were ordering drinks, not food. But we were ordering. It was odd that we had to move so quickly. I do not recommend this place. There are far better choices in Modesto with far better food and service. read more

Food is ok but the owners/bartenders/wait staff treat hispanic customers different than caucasin customers. When hispanic customers come in they are given chips/salsa/dip and water. We came in and didn't get water until we asked for it. Also, the manager goes to the hispanic customers table and shakes hands with the guests doesn't do that with other races. People are polite enough but subtle differences thave me think there are undertones of racism going on. No thank you. I'll go to El Rosel where everyone is treated the same. read more

Bad service at the bar. We were seated brought our drinks and that's it. Never given a menu or asked if we wanted to order. We were on lunch break so finally I asked for the tab. Another waiter asked if we wanted to eat when I asked for tab so I explained what happened. He apologized and gave us a credit on our bill. Service is always slow. read more

Drove home from Reno with the wife this Sunday. We decided to try this location after regularly visiting the Ripon location. We sat at the bar tables, the bar tender was right there to take our order, great michelada! Wife had a strawberry Margarita. The drinks came super fast and food followed not long after. Worst service ever!! Took my drink order but the drinks never came. After 10 min I asked a server about the drinks and said he had forgotten. Had to wait again to order food and again I had to flag down a server and told me our server was on break when he was serving another table. I've been eating here for years and today I call and order food to go we go pick it up. Take it home and it was wrong which I should've checked it but i live 20 mins away so I call them back and the first time the girl that answered hung up on me so that was nice and the second time I got placed on hold so she could ask a Manager what to do that took another 15 mins... Not happy about it at all then the girl up front acted like it was our fault when we had our order they put in and it clearly said asada not chicken . If I could give 0 stars I would. Our family of 4 was seated right away, we waited probably 10 almost 15 min before ever being asked for our drink order. We were just about to get up and leave then the waitress came. She had no personality as if she hated her job. When the food came...it was just 2 of our plates and sat there for another 5 min before my husband and my oldest daughter's food finally came. The shrimp was undercooked and a few were not de-veined. As we were eating, the staff thought it would be a good idea to sweep right near our table. Definitely never going back. The location in Manteca is obviously not ran by the same owner, as it's service and staff are way more superior to this location. read more

I went with my boyfriend for lunch. We were both impressed right away by the yummy bean dip. The beans tasted very authentic and not over-salted like some places like to do. My margarita was perfect. The food was also really good. Temperature was perfect. I ordered the lunch sized tampiquena, and the only complaint I have about it is that it really reminded me more of steak fajitas. I was expecting a piece of steak, but instead received strips of steak that were pan-cooked with the onions and green peppers, with a side of tortillas. It still tasted really good, but my purpose was to try something I'd never had, and here I was eating fajitas. I think they should be honest and sell it as fajitas instead of tampiquena. Regardless I can see myself going back to try something else. read more

We visit this restaurant a few times a year for lunch and today had a horrible experience! In my menu I had an insert for specials and when I ordered from this menu, specifically pointing to the items I wanted I was not informed that this menu didn't apply outside of the bar. We were seated in the main restaurant and apparently shouldn't have received this specials menu but we didn't learn that until after we questioned our check. A colleague and I shared an appetizer and each had a very dry chicken taco a la carte and two waters. Our bill was just under $20 instead of the $9.50 it should have been. When we asked about the specials we were informed that they didn't apply to our restaurant seating and that we shouldn't have received that menu insert. The waiter was unable to adjust our bill and he sent the manager to speak with us. The manager was very dismissive and said the only he could do was talk to the owner. I asked if he would and he never returned. Several minutes later our waiter returned, apologized and said he would pay for the difference himself. We went ahead and paid the bill but will not be returning to this restaurant. I understand the error but the absolute unwillingness to make any concession is inexcusable. read more

I did not like this place at all. The food was crap. Like most mexican places, they bring you chips, salsa, and bean dip. The chips were stale, and both the salsa and bean dip tasted like it came straight out of the can. I ordered Tampiqueña, which any other place would be chicken fajitas. Again, the same canned beans, with flavorless spanish rice and watery guacamole. The chicken was ok, but you get so little compared to how much onions, bell peppers and large slices of tomatoes on the place. My friend ordered the carne con chile. I've never seen slices of steak that cheap and tough actually served at a restaurant. My friend couldn't even chew it. It was horrible. And the price for the two of us? $30 for two entrees and two drinks. Thank goodness we didn't want refills. It's an extra charge if you want more than a couple of refills. It's also extra if you want more bean dip (although I don't know why anyone would). There is even an extra charge if you want to split your plate! What the crap? Totally not worth it. I'm never going back there again. read more
