I went to Las Fuentes in Alsip for Taco Tuesday and loved my meal! We tried the steak, chorizo, and chicken tacos which were all delicious. The chorizo and chicken tacos were especially filling and the shredded chicken was so tasty. I think their beans and rice are so flavorful and are much better than other local restaurants! Several excellent dinner experiences at this location! We are always seated promptly, with wonderful service throughout. Highly recommend the top shelf margarita for a special treat. We always seem to gravitate towards the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, but ventured into a few of the combination platters last visit. Food is fresh, hot and tasty. Atmosphere is pleasant, usually lots of families and groups. Many large TV's throughout, but nothing too intrusive to having a nice conversation over dinner. We have normally had an average experience at this restaurant until today. Today, we spent a significant amount of money to host a party and the order was not as we preferred. Under any normal circumstance, the restaurant would apologize, correct the order. and we would revisit at another time. Tonight, we had that situation but instead of an apology, we got 1) the pork we were given was chicken 2) Our number blocked when we tried to call back and come to a resolve, 3) hung up on when we were trying to resolve the issue. It's hard to believe that in such a competitive environment, that anyone would not work to resolve a very pedestrian complaint. It seems that they may have forgotten where the money comes from. They also need to remember that while it takes multiple experiences to gain a customer, it takes one experience to lose one and that is the case here. Please consider other Mexican restaurants if the experience is important to you. Customers deserve to be treated as if they are appreciated. read more

We went on Cinco de Mayo so they were extremely busy which is why the service was so slow. Thats why the three stars. Food was good. Not great but good. Its a step up from La Fiesta. Which I hate. I'd rather go to taco bell than La Fiesta. Its not authentic mexican food but I won't roll my eyes and complain like I do when someone wants to go to La Fiesta. Can you tell I hate La Fiesta. Went here a week ago. Vile. Table was sticky and nasty. When I asked them to clean it they brought over a dirty rag, and wiped it down. I ended up having to clean it myself. The chips were stale and the drinks were nasty. Won't be back. read more

I have driven by many times, and it always looks busy, but I have never stopped until today. I love Mexican food, especially tacos, and this looked like a good place to get them. I'll start with the service. Our waitress was friendly, and was quick to get our drinks, take our order, and bring our food, however she didn't stop back to check on us until I had finished eating. Next, and a big no no to me is they don't offer free soft drink refills because they sell only cans of pop at a jaw dropping $1.50 each. Now for the food. The food was good, but there was no choice between corn or flour tortilla, and the tortillas were the smallest I have ever seen. Went for lunch a couple of weeks ago, and was very pleased. The food at the Alsip location is as good as the Stickney location. I've always been a fan of the Stickney location. The margaritas were good, but a little weak. The sopes with the four different fillings were delicious and different. The plantain and bean sopes was a sweet and savory. My dining companion had the shrimp with garlic, camarones al ojo y mojo. These shrimp were huge and flavored with a real punch of garlic. Mmmmm! I had the Chile Tipico en Nogada- Chiles in Walnut Sauce: A traditional Mexican dish made with grilled poblano chiles stuffed with picadillo, a mixture of aromatic ground meat (Beef, Pork, and Veal), fresh-dried fruits, pine nuts and spices, covered in walnut sauce. This dish was very interesting and well done. The service was very good, and the prices were reasonable. Thank goodness there is a genuine Mexican restaurant in the area. We will be back. read more

Place is very well adorned and well kept. Looking through the menu a lot of the food is way overpriced. The Chiles en Nogada are $23.00.... And that comes with no sides. When we got our food we ordered sopes as an appetizer, one of the sopes still had raw maza. We didn't make too much of a big deal about it because the others weren't raw and it was half of that sope. The food was OK, nothing really special or worth remembering. I had a watermelon margarita and it was quite bland. Overall it is a nice place but the food is OK, but way over priced. I went there for lunch last Friday looking to find good authentic Mexican food, and I'm happy to inform Las Fuentes did not disappoint. The Restaurant is nicely decorated, and the service was great, my group was greeted at the door by a friendly host who showed us to our table. A friendly waiter who introduce himself by his first name, delivered warm tortilla chips, salsa, and water. The presentation of the food was great, and the taste very authentic. The menu items are reasonably priced, and the House Margaritas were amazing. I recommended to anyone who is looking for a more upscale, authentic Mexican food restaurant. :) read more

We have been wanting to try this place since it opened and we finally were able to go. When we first walked in we were surprised of how the place looked!!...It was really nice we immediately thought that they were going to have good food. The waitress came over to us and asked what we wanted to drink and can you believe it they don't carry bud products and no CORONA!!!!... I mean are you serious this is a Mexican restaurant and they do not have CORONA??? So we settled.... We ordered our food and when it came we were extremely disappointed.... The food was very tasteless it almost tasted like everything was cooked in water (Taco Bell has more flavor).... Also for the price of their dinner's the plates were small and not filling. The wait staff was slow and seemed unhappy. My suggestion for this restaurant is to hire a waitstaff that has experience and get a new chef/cook. read more

The best Mexican restaurant I've been to a long time. I had the Chile Tipico en Nogada. Up till now, I had only heard about this dish. I have never seen it on a restaurant's menu. It was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The service was good, and the sound on the TVs was off, which suits me just fine. First off..... I HAD to give a star in order to post my review. I choose this place as a NO star! We had went on Labor Day to enjoy the day with Mexican food and drinks. Went at dinner time and was seated but yet waited 20 min for anyone to come to our table. Ordered a pitcher of margarita (which was WAY over priced) that tasted like no alcohol was in it! Pitcher was full of ice on top of it for a lengthy price of $28!!! I am American Mexican and I KNOW what mole taste like!!! I had ordered enchiladas with the salsa rojo(red) sauce and they gave me mole and insisted it was not mole sauce. IT WAS!!!!!! The waitress never smiled, carried an attitude and we always had to flag her down! Never came to check on us! I will never return! One time is to many times! If you want authentic Mexican enchiladas in the area...., Go across the street to El Coyote! I've had them there and LOVED them! They serve the REAL authentic Mexican food! Decent Mexican food and atmosphere. the meat really didn't much seasoning on the tacos but the burrito was good. Big downside, it is very expensive. For two people, our bill was $63.00 before tip. This isn't fancy Mexican food, just a steak burrito, three tacos, queso fundidio, margarita and a sprite. Instead of fountain drinks, with free refills, the have cans of pop at $2.00 each! the steak burrito was $16.00! and it wasn't very big. Great Food, Excellent Staff, Bernice the Owners Daughter is so friendly !! The regular margs on the rocks taste very fresh. Gauc is delicious, Salsa tasty. We ordered this marvelous dish that is in a cast iron bowl and has steak, chicken, cheese, chirzo, cactus pouring out the top, you have to try it. This dish feeds two and the meat is so tender. We have been back 3 times now because of this dish and the margs. BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT ON THE SOUTH SIDE !!! This place definetely takes pride in their food, atmosphere and customers !!! This was my first time at this restaurant and I will say that I was pleasantly surprised. The ambience was good, it puts u in the mind of a sports bar without all of testosterone in the room. Happened upon this restaurant just riding down Pulaski and we decided to stop. Very pleasantly surprised. Restaurant was clean with a nice decor. Do not ever order delivery from this place. Food is mediocre, leaking and spilling in the poor packaging they send. And, they use DoorDash for delivery, forgot one of the items from our $70+ order. I called, manager acknowledged they forgot to pack and send it, and told me to call DoorDash for an adjustment on the payment. I said it was their mistake, they should deliver the item. Manager said no, "all they could do" was tell me to call DoorDash. So they did nothing, did not want to do anything, to correct their mistake. I thought this place was pretty good. Not fine dining by any stretch but a fun joint to have a decent margarita and some good basic Mexican. Nice atmosphere and service was good. Ordered the chili rellanos and thought they were great. Salsa was average. All in all it was better than I thought it would be but I walked in with low expactarions.
