Camarones al mojo de ajo (shrimp in garlic sauce)
    Brooke N.

I can't say anything bad about this hole in the wall! My mom had the butter cooked fish and I had shrimp in garlic sauce, both were really good! Authentic food for sure! The refried beans had no cheese in it. Nadia was so helpful and patient with us. She answered all of our questions and gave us explanations of the menu. This is not your traditional Mexican food! It came with ceviche instead of chips and salsa, no guac here. The ceviche was delish! We def will be back!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Pretty good ceviche, pretty interesting music...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]](why was ed sheeran playing at volume 100)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My sister and I visited this fine establishment after spending a day meandering around Sacramento. My car's AC is broken. therefore seafood was the only cure. The journey to get here was long and sweaty and uncomfortable. We were dying. but once we got here and cracked open some DCs, all was fixed. Our food came in a timely manner and was very delicious. We shared the shrimp ceviche and had so much we had to bring some home. The serving sizes are pretty big! Worth it. Once we were ready to leave, we had a bit of trouble getting our waitress' attention.... but we thought it was funny so all is forgiven. [[HIGHLIGHT]]overall, good fish, good vibes, good time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] #darlingyoulookperfect #ed #cevichelover

    Camarones a la kora

Islitas used to be to go to spot for our family for seafood but it seems to have lost its charm over the years. This was the first time we'd been here in probably 2 years and it's nothing compared to what it used to be. We came around noon and there were only about 7 tables occupied and most of them were already eating, however it took 45 minutes to get our food. Myself and my husband each ordered the camarones a la kora plate so nothing super fancy or that would take super long to make. Since it was my husbands lunch break, we had to box up most of our meal because his lunch was pretty much over by the time we got our food. The shrimp was a tad over cooked and lots of them weren't cleaned all the way. Rice was good but the beans tasted horrible. We also got the complementary ceviche and it tasted off and old. They also don't have a soda machine, so you're paying $3 for a canned soda, which if you've read any of my previous reviews is a huge pet peeve of mine. Overall, they still have the best camarones a la kora around but slow service and having to check each shrimp to make sure it's cleaned is a huge factor in returning or not.

Our good friend recommended this place to us so a few of us came to try this place out! It's a very spacious space and the vibes brought me back to Cancun lol. We ordered the Mojarra Frita (Fried Tilapia) Mejillones (Mussels), and a Small parillada (I think that's what it was- assorted shrimp!) The Mojarra Frita was really good, my favorite! It comes with rice, beans, and a side salad and some tortillas. The Mussels were also yummy! And the Assorted Shrimp Platter was my favorite. It came with a deep fried shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, and shrimp coated in a flavorful lime sauce that was delicious! This place is known for their seafood but they also have other meat options as well! Service was super nice!

I haven't been to this place in years! Last time was when I was a law student. This place has not changed and I am so glad it's still a great place. The staff were super friendly and attentive. When you sit down, you get ceviche and tostadas to snack on, no charge. I went on a Monday afternoon and it was not busy. I ordered the Camarones a la diabla. The sauce was spicy and delicious. You can pick flour or corn tortillas and I got flour. The palate was huge. Tastes just how I remember it. Definitely 5/5 We got the cocktail de camaron to share as an appetizer. I wish there was more Clamato and Chile in it. It was okay. 3/5 I definitely want to come again and get the pineapple shrimp plate or the molcajete to share. Definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

Found out local mariscos spot from home her in Sacramento the food is mostly the same so that es stood all cooks have they own recipes buts it's all kinds the same they had cold beer and good service also. No live music like home but they had music playing on the speakers so that did they job

    Parillada de camaron

We went here 8/15 the service was excellent but sadly the food wasn't as before. We ordered the parillada plate and the shrimp agua chile was raw we ended not even eating any of it. The portions as well are smaller. I had a margarita and it tasted like bottled lemon juice with a bit of dish soap. I always look forward to this spot but it was a disappointment this visit.

All las Islitas have a little bit of a different menu! However the fish ceviche is Devine and that's coming from a person who does not eat fish unless it's fish and chips lol so I recommend the fish ceviche 100% which is provided as a complementary appetizer, but I always purchase an additional one because of how delicious it is! But to go past that the shrimp ceviche which is also delicious and gives that fresh taste and perfect to eat on a hot day! They have multiple seafood options on their menu for everyone

Food was to salty didn't even eat my plate. Never again will I come here. They forgot to bring my drinks.

You're greeted with a fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and an energy that makes you excited to be there. Since the restaurant was especially busy, we chose to sit at the bar. There was no wait, and the high-top seating was surprisingly comfortable. Our server was welcoming and attentive, and the service was fast from start to finish. Between the great music and lively atmosphere, you can't help but want to dance while you eat! I ordered one of my favorites--the chicken sope. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while still soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicken was packed with flavor, and the rice and beans were just as delicious. The salsa that came with it was the perfect finishing touch, adding just the right amount of spice and an extra kick of flavor. My hubby ordered one of the carne asada dishes (so sorry, I forgot the name!). He said it was one of the best cuts of meat he's had at a Mexican restaurant in a long time--super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We had such a fun night! I definitely recommend Rosa Madera--10/10 for a date night, girls' night, or any excuse to enjoy great food and an even better atmosphere.

Everything is decorated so uniquely, and it makes the whole experience feel special. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and perfect for celebrating with friends and family. The only downside was that it was difficult to get in contact with the restaurant beforehand. I tried calling several times to make a reservation, but no one answered, and one call was even disconnected. Their website also only allows reservations for up to four people, even though they clearly accommodate larger celebrations for friends and families. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and in person service were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back!

I didn't read or listen carefully enough that the skirt steak with sauteed onions and bell peppers are covered in Spanish sauce. The sauce is actually quite tasty with a little kick. I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. Choice of beans: refried beans, black beans, or pinto beans. I suspect refried beans is the tastiest option. El Tapatio would be a great gathering place for friends and family. I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. To order, you line up in front of the register and wait until they call you. Once it was my turn, I ordered a Super Burrito with Al Pastor, which is my favorite protein choice there. Usually I order 2 tacos with my burrito but I was saving room for Korean bbq that day! The Super Burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. I also ordered a medium pineapple agua fresca, which paired perfectly with my burrito. After ordering, you're handed a number to take to your table so the servers know where to bring your food. As I'm waiting for my food, I helped myself to the self-serve chip bar. The chip bar is my favorite thing about the restaurant besides the food and quick service. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. The pickled onions have the perfect level spice and acidity to them which helps with cutting down the greasiness you may get from a burrito. I also like to snack on them for fun too! The food comes out extremely quickly. When I finished placing my order and brought my number to my table, I went to the self-serve bar right after to get some chips. Not even 2-3 minutes later, I came back to my table with my burrito already there! The burrito was absolutely delicious and piping hot. It's the perfect size for me and eating it with the pineapple agua fresca and some chips makes it a perfect meal! Coming to La Favorita Taqueria is always a treat and I appreciate the quick customer service, self-serve bar, and delicious food! I highly recommend the Al pastor as your protein choice and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

They didn't just walk by like frazzled, hurried workers like most restaurants pushing through the crowds. They actually gave me a nice smile and said welcome, and then walked by. And then I got to the reception area found that there was already a pretty big crowd at around the 5:30 PM or so I guess a lot of early birds come to eat there on Sunday. The receptionist asked for how many and said you'd be like a 20 minute wait and there was chairs where people were waiting but it was only like a 15 minute wait. The server was fast with the chips and salsa and ice water and then soon the waiter came and took my order. He was really quick and witty, fun to talk to. What I really enjoyed was as the noise of the table Near quieted down and they left. I saw a young man cleaning up the table and getting it ready for the next group of people. He was dressed really nice and had a tie on. Having been in restaurants most of my life I said to myself, I bet you he works with the owners or something. And I said to him, are your related to people that own the place ? he said my parents own this place. He was very friendly and polite. He told me a tiny bit about the restaurant and how everything had been since 1970, much older than he was, he was only a sophomore in high school I think. I never really got his name, but I was kind of proud of him because he was working hard at his family's restaurant. I ordered probably something bigger than I could eat because I had to take leftovers home, but it was really a tasty meal, and they're coming out with more chips and salsa without being asked, probably didn't help as well as a second lemonade. It's really impressive when you have a well oiled machine and it appeared to me that the people that worked there seem to be happy so that's always a good sign of good management. Several years back, I worked in the restaurant industry doing maintenance and repairs so I went to a lot of different restaurants and saw a lot of things so I know what to look for. I'm definitely gonna come back when my brother and his wife come up from the Bay Area my friend Ivan he'll wanna go there for lunch or dinner I know.
