Excellent food, huge menu. Ate with my dad and we both ate off the lunch menu. He had chicken fajitas, and I had beef real. Food was delicous, house salsa was nice and mild ( i don't like fire spicy ). We had an exceptionally friendly and courteous waiter ( Rey according to receipt ). We've enjoyed the food and atmosphere here until tonight. We both ordered our meals with no sour cream. They both came with and it smeared into other items on our plates. When our server asked if everything was good, we reiterated that we asked for no sour cream. She offered us a bowl to scrape it off, came back later and asked if it was good now. Understand that mistakes are made in busy kitchens. Fresh lettuce and pico would've sufficed, but it wasn't even offered. I went to eat lunch . Starting with the salsa and chips : outstanding. Guacamole : delicious. Refried beans and rice : fresh and moist , wonderful . I ordered the beef chimichangas and the beef was perfect, juicy and tender with the outside tortilla deep fried to perfection. I had unsweetened iced tea that was excellently brewed . Wow I was impressed , need I say the food was extremely satisfying. Now on to other things , the atmosphere was good , lovely decor. Restrooms clean and without odor, all needed supplies present. Staff polite and professional, IF I HAD TO CHANGE ANYTHING , It would be : although polite and professional a SMILE AND A LITTLE MORE WARMTH goes a long way. Very proud of Las Trojas! We've gotten take out from them a few times during the quarantine and have been impressed at how hard they've worked to keep serving their customers - tonight we finally got to eat inside & we were very pleased at how safe we felt. Every single employee wore a mask, had gloves on, and they were keeping guests separated at tables across the restaurant. The food was great as usual. Just go. Terrible, The hostess took us to our table and literally slammed the menus on the table and walked away. No nothing. Not even here's your table. Waiter was prompt, the food was terrible. Ordered the lunch chimi, it was about the size of my credit card. The meat was tough. My guacamole on the side was served with huge lumps in it. My husband ordered the lunch burrito, again about the size of a credit card and flavorless the cheese on top taxes sour. His sliced tomato was dirty, like it hadn't been washed before slicing. Used to love this place. We are from Florida and would always stop on our way back to Indianapolis never again. read more

I'm a local customer. This used to be the best Mexican food in Athens. However, my past two experiences have been bad. For instance, our chips were stale and we told the waiter. He took them away and brought them back warm. They were now stale and warm. My guess is he microwaved them for 20 seconds and brought them back to us. The chicken in my Chimichanga had no flavor. It is like it was just boiled chicken. In the past I've had really good Chicken Chimichangas. I don't know if they have changed cooks or ownership or what. I've talked with several other locals who have had similar experiences. Hopefully the will turn things around. read more

This is a great place to hang out with friends and family to get the night started. I am a regular here. I haven't had anything I didn't like. Great food. Ordering out can sometimes be a pain. I absolutely love the fish tacos. The only thing is, when they put it in a box for a to go order, they lay all the tortillas at the bottom and then set all the steaming meat and spinach on top so when you get home it is all a big mess. read more

The food at this restaurant is Ok. Not great but consistently prepared, at least average quality and is usually served promptly. However they have an awful trivia program which is insanely loud and covers the entire restaurant. So if you are a patron who came for dinner and conversation, you will wind up with a sore throat by dinners end shouting across the table. I have spoken to the management there on three occasions asking that they consider a different approach. I was basically told to eat somewhere else. We got to las trojas at 10:30 and they close at 11:00. We got sat and then our waiter comes up to us and tells us that they close in 2 minutes. So we hurry up and order and when we got our food it was cold. Terrible dinner and very terrible service. I'm very disappointed. read more

Prompt, attentive service. I' d guess it can get a little noisy, the have several large tables for bigger groups. The place was hopping and close to full on a Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. Management Fail! We eat at this restaurant regularly and the food and service are always good. Last night there was a group that had way too much alcohol. Cussing and hollering and disturbing the whole place. So what did they do about it? Bring them another round! I complained. The rowdy party finally staggered out and left in three separate vehicles. Well, first let me say that I have eaten here several times with zero issues. However, this past Saturday was horrible. The only thing good was the waitress. There were four of us and we ordered drinks (2 diet coke, 1 coke zero and 1 dr. pepper). When the waitress brought them out there was zero carbonation. 3 of us changed to tea and the dr. pepper person said I don't want anything other than DP. The waitress returned with a DP she said she got from a 2 liter because the soda dispenser was not working properly. She brought out the bottle which had very little left. There were 7 Hispanic people working at one table replacing menu's in the holders. 7!!! There were just a few waiter and waitresses working the entire restaurant!! AND there were some large tables to handle. We asked her if they could go get us some cokes from next door at Publix and the Manager told her to tell us the machine was fine!!! BULLCRAP!! The machine was not fine, it needed the Co2 bottle changed. Even I knew that much!!! He was just being lazy and didn't want to tell all his other Hispanic workers to do something else besides putting menu's in holders. They were having too much fun while patrons were walking out of the restaurant pissed off. I wanted so bad to say something but my family asked me to remain calm and we would just drink tea. That's stupid but I did as they asked. But I promised I would go to Yelp and let it be known that Saturday, September 26, 2020 the Manager at this restaurant forgot the most important thing he needed, his CUSTOMERS! At least I assumed he was the manager. He was the only one in a blue shirt with a tie and walking around like he was in charge. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! This is the best sit down Mexican restaurant I've found so far in Athens. The staff has a little trouble with English - but the food is good and comes in big portions. One of the must tries is the Fajitas Hawaiiana - a good portion of chicken, with peppers, onions, and pineapple topped with cheese. Served with tortillas and side plate of lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, refried beans and rice. You'll often see it on the lunch special menu -- but it's definitely worth the price if it's not. Taquitos Mexicanos come with two taquitos at lunch or four with dinner and come with the same side plate as the fajitas. The taquitos our the extra skinny one's either - these are nicely rolled and stuffed -- a good serving. Appetizer -- try the fresh made guacamole made table side as you watch or choose the Trojas Dip -- Chicken, Beef and Shrimp (they'll happily sub one for another) cooked and then put into a big serving of cheese dip, served with tortillas and pico de gallo. read more

Ordered the new menu item "Miguel's Pizza". I was expecting chicken, steak, chorizo and spinach in the slices. When it was brought out all that it consisted of was spinach and mushroom with two bites of chicken in it slice. It was a soggy mess from all of the spinach. I could not eat it. We finally were able to track down our server and I told him it wasn't good. His response was shrugging his shoulders and saying "that's how it is". Very Bad! Do not go to this place. The first clue was the chips and salsa, the salsa was good but the chips were low rate. The service was poor because the drink order was not correct. The food arrived as if it was two separate orders. The second entree arrive 10 minutes later. The food had a taste of cheap can food. It was so bad I could not eat it. How does this place have only 1 review? This is indeed the best Mexican in the area. It's kind of "divey" compared to Rosie's but I prefer it over Rosie's! They are good at what they do. It's not the street food type mexican that You can get at cazadores (my favorite mexican place), but for what they do, it is the best. This is what Bandito Burrito should be. read more
