My consultation was a great experience. I was greeted by the very friendly receptionist. She took my temperature and handed me paperwork to complete. I was then called in by one of the assistants which verified the information I filled out was correct, she took pictures, took me to an exam room where she checked my vision. Dr. Chu came in next where he performed several test on my vision and talked to me regarding his findings and my condition. I watched a video and proceeded to the office manager which went over my options for surgery. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Currently sitting in one the rooms waiting with my dad to be seen. His appointment was at 10:15. We arrived at 10 am. After 20 min I asked if he was going to be soon and the front desk person that he would be seen very shortly. 15 min after that she reminded me that he will be next. Then 11 am hit and I told the front desk person that it has been 45 min and that my dad needs to eat soon because he is diabetic and on medication. 13 min after that they walk us into the room and do a sight test. Then the person left and said the dr would be coming in. It is now 11:45 am. Still waiting.... What is the point of setting an appointment if we won't be seen until at least an hour later. I know that if I had not mentioned anything to Laser Eye Center front desk person we'd still be waiting in the lobby. Good thing (sarcasm) we are now not in the lobby where no one else will see and hear my complaints and now are waiting in the small room. I was able to write this entire review and still no doctor. I'll be posting how long it will take, beginning to end. Update: Like literally as we walked out the door once they checked my dads eye the social media representative for the eye center came up to me and wanted to "chat". I was laughing out of anger. If I knew we were going to get attention as soon as we wrote a review on yelp I would have done it earlier. She must have alerts when reviews are made. She insisted that she walk with us to the car to talk and I told her that I spent plenty of time in that office and I need to feed my dad, no thank you. They released my dad from their care. I'm afraid that because of my review he was released sooner than needed. Please do your research before coming here. What I am most afraid is that our parents/grandparents are sucked in the ads on Spanish speaking channels and are promised near perfect vision but hold back on telling you all the negative possibilities. When appointments are made it does not mean that's when they are going to see you. They assume these people have nothing else to do but waste time. They do not put in mind what arrangements these people had to do to get to the location. read more

Everything went well, i had prk eye sugery and the only concern i have is the next day checkup can be intense because your eyes hurt to open and the pain medication runs out so more pain medication is required. I can see clear now, the rain is gone lol Just got my surgery done this Wednesday I was very scared at first but after I seen so many people coming out I felt better and carried on. The surgery last maybe like 3 min super easy and u don't feel a thing. They give you a pill to relax because of course your awake but its not as bad as it sounds. Once the pill kicks in you feel more calm the dr numbs your eyes so you don't feel it at all. After the surgery your eyes are extremely sensitive can't open them bc they will poor out in tears. The worst part of all this was when the numbness of your eyes wears out u feel like you want to rip your eyes out you only feel like that for about 30 min take a pill and sleep most of the day tomorrow morning if you didn't scratch and followed the drs instructions you should be as good as new! Remember to stay calm and relax you can't scratch or touch your eyes. I did my surgery like at 11am at around 5pm I was able to see clear. They tell u to buy your prescription there (not pills) there eye drops they don't give u medicine. with them its $140 but I looked them up right now and its only 17.99 at wal mart we seriously got ripped off I'm saying we bc almost everyone who got the surgery had the little blue bag. I didn't find the other eye drops but I'm sure there eye drops that are very similar buy your eye drops before you do your surgery so u don't have to purchase them there I'm going to post a picture of the drops and you'll see there the same ones as the onces they give u. Wear sunglass for about a week the light still kind of bothers me but not much. I had head aches the first week but that's because its getting use to your new vision. The surgery is fast easy and u don't feel a thing I would definitely recommend! Its mandatory to go back the next day and then in two weeks. One last thing you can't wear ANY makeup for 2 weeks. You cant let water get in your eyes for 2 weeks or scratch your eyes for 2 weeks. use eye makeup wipes to clean your face that's what I used read more

Talked to them on the phone and asked if I get surgery to correct distance, would I need reading glasses.They said not necessarily and the "doctor " would have to look at my eyes to determine that. I get there and start filling out the questionnaire they gave me and one of the first questions is would I mind wearing reading glasses if I got laser surgery for distance.I stopped right there and went to the desk lady and asked if I would have to trade my close vision for distance. She said YES , but you're going to need reading glasses at some point anyway.What a waste of time and gas. Liars, they were afraid to tell me that on the phone because they knew I wouldn't come in.Thanks for wasting 2 hours of my day.I never talked to the doctor like these liars said was needed to determine this. From the beginning to end it was a great experience. At my consultation Dr.Chu was very nice and thorough with the process and did a good job explaining everything to me so I wouldn't feel nervous . All of the staff was very helpful and patient with me which helped a lot with my anxiety. During the surgery Dr.Shamas was very patient with me. His team and him did a lot to navigate me through the surgery as well as calm me down when I would tense up. As for the surgery itself it went smoothly and my eyesight is amazing! From being -5 to now it is astonishing to wake up and see with perfect eyesight instantly. Due to the contura, I really feel like my eyesight is better now than even before with contacts. I would recommend this surgery to anyone with bad eyesight it is seriously a game changer! As a 19 year old who use to cry getting contacts in, this surgery is really not as bad as you may think, I felt slight pressure but no pain! I had Laser Eye Surgery. (duh) They checked me out.......(hey now!)...... and because of my uneven cornea they need to do the PRK treatment. Basically means they will not slice my eye but "buff" it down and do the laser treatment. Instead of doing it all in one day this procedure requires to be done a week away the other eye surgery. I swear when you are having it done it only takes about 1 minute. No pain. The follow up exams were done efficiently and courteously. The procedure was $3600. My eye prescription used to be -1.00 (R) and -1.75 (L) very slight stig. Now I see 20/10. It was a great experience! I would do it again in a blink. ; ) read more

Like any service, you can negotiate. Pay in full will get you more of a discount then payments. But payments are thru a third party not LEC. Make sure you are certain you want to go through with your eye surgery. I received PRK instead of Lasik due to the shape of my cornea. Each eye's experience can/will be different. Although my first eye was the first up and I was quite the cry-baby, it heals within a week and I was good to go. My second eye (in my opinion) is still not where it should be after 4 weeks. Why? I don't know but I still see the letters in the check up room blurry, but I can drive fine and see clearly. I am probably the only person that will tell you, I regret getting this surgery. What's done is done but I will miss my glasses and being able to look into a mirror close up (apparently you can't do that anymore with perfect eye vision as it will give you a headache). The service here get's better after you pay. After all, you will be coming back to them for give or take six (6) months. If you are unable to make an appointment at the Ontario office, you can schedule an appointment at Riverside, Cerritos, Los Angeles, Pasadena, to name a few (or most). I had my preliminary consultation in the LA office (must pay for parking), surgery and most of my check ups in Ontario, and one check up in Cerritos (since I worked in that area that day). So to summarize: 1) You can somewhat negotiate your final cost 2) Service will get better after you pay (if it wasn't great when you first arrived). 3) Make sure you really want the surgery. Procedure date: 1/2012 I'm very disappointed with Laser Eye Center. I did my homework on them before my procedure and thought I was getting the best service available. The initial consultations were fine. The procedure day was horrendous. They overbooked everyone and I was treated like I was on an assemblyline. They had me sit in a chair with my eye flaps already cut and wait until they could put me under the next laser machine. I spoke to many people who had this exact Conventional Laser procedure done and none of them had to do that. Contrary to being told this procedure was "uncomfortable", it was painful. Another problem I'm having with them is that my vision is NOT 20/20. I keep telling them during my follow up visits that I cannot see clear at a certain distance, especially at night. They are doing nothing to help me and during my last visit (visit 4 after surgery), they basically told me I should be grateful I can see the big E on the wall because I couldn't even see that before. They also told me that letter vision test on the wall they test you with doesn't give an accurate prescription of your eyes......Are you kidding me?? The entire optometry industry uses that test! It's ridiculous. I feel like they're just trying to get rid of me. I went to see my Kaiser optometrist last week and they confirmed my vision is 20/30 and they gave me a prescription for glasses to see sharper at night. Spend the money, be safe and get it done somewhere else. Spending $3000.00 for 20/30 vision and needing glasses for certain times of the day is a total rip off. read more

I'm writing this review because I had gone in a year before my actual surgery for a consultation and I did schedule at that time however due to a medical condition I couldn't go through with the original surgery date, the office managers response was unexpected. She indicated I can contact them again when I'm ready and they would honor my quoted price. A year later I contacted them and they did honor the previous years price I was originally quoted. The doctor was awesome and the staff was very nice but the issue here was the over booking patients. It took four hours for my surgery! I had something to eat for breakfast, but by the time I got the surgery I was starving for lunch. I had the surgery on an empty stomach and when I drove home I fainted. Also, no one told me I would have to wear goggles and take drops for two weeks after. I was very unprepared before my surgery. It made my experience very difficult. read more

I've been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old and at the age of 22 I decided to take the plunge and look into getting lasik.i have high astigmatism and can't see far.i wear glasses and contacts. I came across the promo where you get 50% off the expensive lasik through the mail. If you're worried about the pain trust me it's surprising how much you don't feel anything. Getting a vaccine hurts more lol. So pain wise it's a 1/10. But I will admit the actual procedure is scary at least it was for me mostly because the dr was not very communicative as what I should expect or what he's gonna do. At some point I saw pitch black and was starting to freak out and assumed they made me go blind but that's what happens during the procedure and I wish they had addressed that. It wouldn't not have been scary had I known what to expect. Medication wise it's $140 for a set of antiobiotics drops and artificial tears with some tape and eye guards. I bought the artificial tears at target for $20. And just bought the antibiotic at the laser eye center since my insurance didn't cover it at kaiser and they didn't even carry it anyways. They sold me the antibiotic,eye guards, tape for $110. So I saved $10. After surgery I was stuck home and took 2 days off work to stay home and rest. When I was able to take off my eye guards after the first day my eyes were blood shot red which is totally normal but they still freaked me out. I do see halos at night which I was told would go away. But my vision is so much better now!! I totally recommend anyone who considers lasik to do it it's a great investment. Plus the staff is friendly here from the times I've gone. Oh and just incase anyone was wondering the procedure cost me About $3000 including meds. And that's with the promo included as well. But I put down $2000 and will be paying off the rest monthly :) hope you guys found this review helpful and trust me it's worth it! I can see 3D movies comfortably now! read more

I Recently just underwent laser eye surgery at this facility, and I am VERY happy with my results. I did buy the Groupon deal and ended up upgrading the procedure to the Wavefront vs. the conventional lasik. However, it was still significantly cheaper than if I did not have the Groupon deal. I have been wearing glasses and contacts since I was 7 years old, so I decided that now was not the time to be cheap since of my young age and high dependency on glasses. I got the Contoura Lasik done yesterday. So far, I am very pleased with my results and how well the staff has treated me. I wish I would've been able to do this sooner! I'd give 5 stars, but the surgeon's bedside manner could use a little work. After 15 years from my first Lasik and multiple pregnancies, my eyes never went back to 20/20 vision. I was one of the few, I guess, that never gained my eye sight back to pre-pregnancy. Many quotes and consultations later, I went for Laser Eye Center. Couldn't be happier! If you've done Lasik before, most eye surgeons will recommend PRK. One did recommend Lasik again, but all 4 other doctors said Lasik reopens the flap of your eye that can cause regrowth of cells underneath, which causes your vision to possibly be blurred. Makes sense. Open a scab wound and you've got regrowth of skin and scarring. I'm not taking that chance. Went with PRK! If you asked me right after surgery if you should get this surgery, I'd say heck no! 3 days of immense pain I can't even describe. Can't open eyes. Can't do anything. Worse than Lasik when that only lasted one full day. I've heard of people walk out with Lasik and go back to work. Not me. 1 day of pain and lots of sleep got me through it. But PRK, I wanted to cry, which was probably good for my eyes anyways, keeping it lubricated. After 3 months and 5 or so after surgery visits, I am 25/20 and 20/20 and still improving. I am very happy with my vision now that I don't rely on glasses and squint at everything. Originally 40/20 and 30/20. Yes, Laser Eye Center services a ton of people. It's a quick surgery! So it may seem like it's a factory line. But they take care of you. I would only say the guys working the table side seem not so happy but no worries. You don't deal with them much. Surgery was about 10-15 minutes or less. Prep and wait is probably the longer part. Total 1 hour or so. Yes, they are nice people. Very caring and take the time to listen to you. Smile and be polite. They will be too. If you're already mad or rude, they will be the same. Even if they don't seem to be smiling, which I thought they'd be rude, they were actually very pleasant and joked with me. Yes, the price is affordable! Even for a PRK! Quoted at other places for almost double what I paid here. What's expensive you might think is the prescription drops. Without medical, one drop (antibiotic) cost almost $800, however, I was able to get it through my doctor and pharmacy for copay. Another drops (anti-inflammatory) was about $600, however, they give you a rewards coupon for Walgreens that gets you the drops for $60 or so. This one I couldn't get through my doctor. Still cheaper than $600 though. I didn't use coupons or prepaid stuff like on Groupons like other reviews. But then again, I didn't do Lasik so my review is only for the PRK.
