Scheduling appointments is usually very easy, and the treatments themselves are incredibly fast... less than five minutes and you're in and out. The only negative experience I had was when I called to reschedule my third treatment because I was recovering from the flu. I called more than 24 hours in advance, but the male receptionist told me he needed to speak with his manager to see if they could waive a cancellation fee since I didn't call 48 hours in advance. He then put me on hold for over 10 minutes. I eventually hung up and called back, and another male receptionist answered. He rescheduled my appointment right away without any issues, which made the first interaction feel unnecessary and frustrating.

I paid $1000 for Dysport with one very clear request: I wanted a fully frozen forehead, the same result I have consistently achieved here in the past. At two weeks (the full window for Dysport to set in), I still had significant movement and visible lines. For anyone familiar with injectables, this outcome is far below what's reasonable at this price point, especially when the goal was explicitly communicated in advance. When I reached out to the clinic about the poor result, I expected professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to make it right. Instead, I was told that if I wanted the issue corrected, I would have to pay for more units. That is simply not industry standard. Reputable injectors stand behind their work and typically offer a complimentary touch-up if results fall short of what was promised. Whether this was poor injecting or a bad vial should not then be the patients problem to pay. What made this worse is that I know that if the vial is reported to the manufacturer, the company would happily provide them with a complimentary replacement vial. In other words, the clinic had the ability to resolve this at no cost to themselves. Rather than taking that step, they placed the burden back on me after I had already spent $1000. It's deeply disappointing to see a practice prioritize profit over integrity and client satisfaction. I left feeling dismissed and taken advantage of. For something as personal and expensive as facial injectables, trust and accountability are everything. Your face and your money deserve better than this.

My appointments, which were often booked weeks in advance, kept getting canceled or rescheduled at the last minute. It's incredibly frustrating because I have to plan my schedule ahead of time and block off work just to make these appointments. When they cancel last minute, it throws everything off. Another thing to be aware of is that there are no refunds once you purchase a package. Even if the constant rescheduling becomes a major inconvenience, you're essentially stuck and have to work around their availability. For the amount of money you're spending, I'd recommend looking into Sev Laser instead. Their pricing is much more affordable, booking is far more flexible, and you can often get same-day appointments. They also offer pay-per-session options that are about 30-40% cheaper than LaserAway. Do your research before committing to a package here.

Certain areas are not as complete results because of hormones and skin pigmentation, but I love the results overall. The set some expectations, it does require maintenance in the long term, but far less than waxing or shaving. After the initial monthly sessions for a year, I come back once every two to three months. I was also sad to see Kaitlin go and there seems to be a lot of turnover in terms of staffing. After the laser's re-calibration, I can't lie - the laser is at least a 5/10 painful (10 being completely unmanageable pain). But, all the staff are friendly and sessions are quick. I love their end of year special where you get BOGO giftcards, so I stock up and pay for the laser I need for the year. I am a regular here!

The 10 minutes of massage for both were so nice, especially the shoulders and upper back that came with the manicure. But during the gel remove, the gel on my fingers was removed with the drill. It was the same on my toes but I don't have an issue there. Normally I wouldn't mind, but my natural fingernails were drilled down so thin that even though I cut my nails short, they're ripping at the ends with normal daily wear and tear. I went on Saturday morning and I've had two nails rip at the ends already and it is only Tuesday morning. I'm not sure if it was because I came in with long nails already (imagine asking for a medium-long set) and they may have been mistaken for gel-x or something of the sort, but it was just my natural nails with gel on top. I can even feel on all of my fingernails just how thin they were drilled down because suddenly all my nails are very flimsy, even with several gel coats on top. The rest of the service and experience were great, so it's a bit disappointing to feel like I regret how much I paid because of how weak my fingernails became after this appointment. Regardless I would still return in the future if I want the pampering experience, but if I can do without the massage and just need my nails done I may choose another salon instead. Just something to note if you're someone who is worried about your nail strength. UPDATE 8/4 9:48PM: Another nail ripped pretty far down just from scratching my head :-(

A very tasteful, custom design for an 11 y.o. They lasted almost 4 weeks but finally time to take them off. We made an appt for 2:30 today and due to Jenny not getting the message we had to wait about 30-40 minutes. Not the biggest deal, really nice out and our favorite boba spot just a few blocks down Polk St. When we got back the other woman in the shop started taking off the gels, they were taking a while to saturate enough to fully remove so the cotton with acetone and foil had to stay on longer. My daughter's fingers started burning and when we let them know, Jenny prompted the other woman to take a look. Not ready yet so while the owner was finishing up with another client this other woman needed to take care of it. At one point a customer had to ask this other woman to help my daughter, that she would kindly wait. It took over an hour to remove and clean up her nails, no manicure after. Two hours later my daughter's poor fingers are still burning. Jenny was quite apologetic and adjusted the price as a courtesy. We love Jenny but maybe she needs some more support in her shop.

The minute you enter they are trying to upsell you on everything!! The way they regurgitate the selling points from their employee handbook is embarrassing. Whoever the management is they must be whipping these poor employees into pushing customers to buy buy buy! The lady I first met took me into what I thought would only be a five minute consultation because I already knew exactly what areas I wanted lasted and how many packages I wanted to buy, but turned into 30-45 min of her upselling me and being soooo pushy about me buying a bigger package of treatments. I felt completely bullied into buying more. Everything she was saying to me was sooo contrived and manipulative just because she wanted to earn a commission. So I bought 12 treatments for my lady parts and my arm pits. After the 12 sessions I did notice that there was less hair but still enough that I needed to keep buying razors and shaving. After 1.5 yrs most of the hair grew back. I bought another $224 package for 3 more sessions on groupon so I could try to completely remove the hair... work got really busy and I had to fly out of town every week for a year and wasn't able to use the groupon because they only accept it at this location that I'm registered in. When I went in to trade in the groupon for $224 towards a treatment, they told me they wouldn't accept it! Even though groupon states that if a coupon expires you can still use the purchase amount towards procedures. Even though I had gone in here for several treatments already they wouldn't even let me use the $224 more I spent on them, so that was just money down the drain worth nothing. During the treatments the aestheticians were very nice and gentle, but I kept having to remind them to get the lower parts of my lady parts that they kept skipping over. They would go so fast with the laser they would completely skip over areas and those parts would still grow hair looking super patchy. They put the power on low for a lot of treatments and skip over parts so that you have to keep coming back and buy more sessions so they can make more money off of you. When I finally went into a real laser clinic other than this place, I saw how much of a difference they treated me! They didn't try to upsell me on all this bullsh*t and after just a few sessions my hair was completely gone and my skin was super smooth! During the sessions they really took the time and attention to detail to get all the hair follicles removed! Highly suggest saving your money and seeking out a real laser clinic instead of pouring all your money into this greedy place! read more

Shout out to Aria, lead RN at the Castro location in SF! I was hesitant and anxious about having a thermage procedure performed on my face. Aria was very professional and transparent and answered all of my questions and walked me through the steps during the session. The results are not visible for 2-6 mos but I have already had compliments and comments in regards to my skin. Notably my best friend (who is even lower maintenance than I am) noticed, and after doing research on her end and asking me questions about my experience, was sold! She made an appt with Aria this morning for Thermage. My appt was end Jan 2024-. Aria's competency and skill is visible and I had a 2nd opportunity to benefit from her experience 2 weeks later when she did my Xeomin refresh. I noticed immediately that she had a different technique than I'm accustomed to. No other RN had ever injected so close to my hairline and Aria explained why she does this- I gave her a heads up that I tend to get Spock eyes when the injections are too low and the result was mind blowing! My first time/session getting tattoo removal. I had to wait 6 months since the tattoo was brand new ( Nick Bergin at Godspeed tattoo in San Mateo won't take no for an answer and has to be an "artist", for some serious entertainment check out our Yelp fight) lol so I went in, waited for 45 mins but the nurses wanted me to get the more experienced nurse because I'm getting only 2 inches taken off, some eyebrows that are extremely close to the eyes so it's a very tedious job. The nurse that did it was very particular in just lasering the eyebrows and wants me to only have her do the remaining session I need for removal. I'm still scared to take of my bandage so I dont know how it looks yet, but the healing time kinda hurts worse than a tattoo. I'm more concerned with making sure a tattoo guy will take no for an answer and not have to be an "artist" from now on. Which seems like a normal request from everyone else that has had to fix this tattoo for me says. Thats my 2 cents. read more

My first visit to Laser Away on Castro was a great experience. I drove and was a bit worried about parking, but I found a spot nearby in a residential street that was just a short minute walk to the spa. I was greeted by Leon at the front desk and promptly checked in. I arrived a little early, so I waited in the lobby for a few minutes before getting prepped for my treatment. The space and environment was really bright and clean. My nurse was Elaine, and she was a gem! She really made me feel welcome on my first visit and we had a good chat during treatment. I felt like we were old friends reunited and that made the experience all the more enjoyable. I typically go to another location in the City, but had a scheduling conflict so I had to change offices last minute. I can easily say I have TWO Laser Aaway homes in the City! So I never leave reviews but this visit absolutely warrants one as I had a fabulous experience! I came in for laser hair removal on my face, Leon and Johnny at the front desk were SUPER friendly and got me checked in lickety split. They helped me get scheduled for my next appointment and were wonderful to talk to while I waited for my nurse, Eryn, to get ready. The laser itself is everything you'd expect from a laser blasting your face. Eryn was such a doll through the whole thing and took breaks whenever I needed to, gave me an ice pack, and brought me her wonderful aloe concoction to help soothe my face. I really felt like I was in the best hands and everybody knew what they were doing. I never felt unsafe, or at risk of getting COVID as the whole place was clean and they sanitized everything pretty regularly. read more

I worked with Elain and she had the audacity to be the absolute BEST nurse I have literally ever met in my entire life. She was polite, kind, and complimented my birkenstock's and smart wool socks. I detested my experience at the LaserAway in the Marina, and to make things worse I had purchased a package, so needless to say I was over the company! But they had a great special, so I tried the Castro office, and WOW, what a difference a neighborhood makes. Daniel at the front desk was friendly, upfront and informative. Lori and Shannon worked together on my treatment and they were careful and thorough, in addition to being great to have around for the time of my treatment. The services were OK and the staff is mostly friendly- some a little bougie. But! They refuse to refund the 3 packages I bought, even though I have now relocated to more than 3 hours away from the nearest laser away location. I have called at least 6 times and e-mailed and they keep promising someone will call me from corporate or customer service, or I was told once they contacted the owner of the Castro district SF location- and no one ever calls or gets back to me. Just had my second laser hair removal session with Ebbie who is an absolute dream! Seriously one of the nicest and most pleasant people you will ever meet in life and that's aside from the fact that I was blown a way with my result after my very first session. What a great treatment I just had!! My nurse was unbelievably thorough and meticulous. I've had a few laser hair treatments with her, and now she did my filler. Finally decided it was time to say something about the great care I've received. Rhiannon is amazing, but everyone at the Castro location really has been wonderful, even accommodating me when I'm running late! The store manager Esmeralda is always a treat as well. The location manager Essie was supportive and helpful on site and over the phone, connecting with me about what I was looking for, setting up my first appointment, and ensuring my comfort. Clear and Brilliant is amazing. To be honest I was hesitant but the gentleman at the front desk Daniel was patient and walked me through the process. I finished 6 treatments and my skin looks so beautiful and I will probably do another 6 treatments. She spent over an hour with me on facetime to make sure I was comfortable with the package I was going to buy and to make sure I was purchasing the right treatment for my aging face . I was referred to LaserAway by my sister who loved how quick, convenient, and friendly their services are. My experience with them has been just as good. I always feel very comfortable with the nurses who do the laser hair removal, it's less painful than waxing for me, and I am in and out in like 15 minutes. So if that's not a problem for you, I'd say go ahead. However, knowing that I am paying wild amounts of money for services, just to be harassed about spending more money with them is not an experience I'm interested in continuing. I'll also say that the doctor and the nurses have different approaches. One of the nurses has a light touch with the units of Botox she'll start you off with, and when I saw the doctor at my follow up he seemed disgruntled that so few units were used.
