I recently had a discussion with my brother-in-law regarding the lack of a really great cheese steak restaurant in the Central Florida area. When I made this statement, I immediately received an odd look, and the simple statement, "you've obviously never been to LaSpada's." I immediately bookmarked LaSpada's. However, I kept hearing the legends that going for lunch at the Winter Park location was a nightmare. On my way back from a hearing in Sanford, I noticed that there appeared to be a LaSpada's location off 46. I immediately turned in. I was greeted by a very friendly cashier, who helped me decide what to get: the 10" cheese steak. While my sub was being prepared, I was asked whether I wanted additional items, like sweet and hot peppers. I appreciated this, and did end up going with peppers. First off, a warning. When you get your sub, give it a couple minutes. This sandwich is HOT. When I received mine, I was so excited that I immediately dug in, and ended up burning the top of my mouth. My impatience aside, I can truly say this is the best cheese steak in Central Florida, period. A ton of meat. The perfect amount of cheese. All placed atop a fresh, soft roll. The perfect amount of seasoning, with a good amount of onion. The suggestion for hot and sweet peppers is also very recommended. Let's just say that I will be planning my Seminole County hearings around late lunches at LaSpada's from now on. read more

If you want the best cheesesteak in Central Florida, LaSpada's is the place to go. I always get the large cheesesteak. It is always perfect. I hate when restaurants put huge amounts of onions or peppers to save money. LaSpada's doesn't do that. You will get plenty of steak. I love the amount of seasoning. If you do not have time to sit down & savor this, then wait until you do have the time. You do risk getting burned. Also, they are busy most of time so it is not "fast food". But it is worth it. I have had the large Turkey & Cheese hoagie. It was so good. It took me about 3 days to eat it. Amazingly, it remained fresh. The employees at LaSpada's are very kind & helpful. They know me by name. I like that because I do not want to give up my money to someone who's annoyed by my presence. read more

Closest thing to home here in Florida!!! (Originally from Broomall, PA) I've been WAITING for them to open near me, and now my wish has come true! I can finally get a cheesesteak that's not steak-ums on a hotdog roll - yuk! LaSpadas has great, fresh rolls (be sure to ask for the Amarosa roll), and good quality meat for the steaks. You can top em with Whiz if you want too (but that's not my scene...). As an added bonus - Herr's chips and Tastykakes!!! Now if I can get them to get some Birch Beer on tap, we'll be all set! This place is hands down in my opinion in the top 5 sandwich / subs type of restaurant that I have EVER been to. This is the type of place that you go out of the way to indulge on some of the best subs you will ever eat. Their subs ARE pretty expensive but they pack so much meat and everything else into their Philly style sub rolls you can literally make two meals out of their 10" subs. My favorite is the Laspadas Famous and their cheesesteaks are probably the best around. I wish they had some locations in the Tampa area and I try to visit one of their 3 locations whenever I am in the Orlando area. Service at each location that I have been to has always been great. Although their locations are not fancy and could quite honestly use a remodel, I still very highly recommend checking this place out. read more

LaSpada's is simply amazing. I was so happy when this location opened in Sanford and is only a few minutes away. Whether you want a cold sub or a nice hot cheese steak they always deliver. First of all if you order a large sub, be prepared as you will be greeted with a mountain of meat. As other reviewers have mentioned not only is meat key, but the bread that LaSpada's using is perfect. A great roll truly makes or breaks a sandwich. I really hate giving bad reviews, but this place deserves a giant F grade! I had been craving a real Philly cheesesteak and this place was recommended by one of my favorite radio shows. I live on the far west side of Lake county and this place was a out of my way, but for good food I will drive anywhere. Fast forward, I made it to this place with one hour and 30 minutes to go before they closed. Well, the employees decided they would start closing down early. When I asked when the closed ( I knew when bc I saw the sign on the door and hours on Yelp) they said we close in 20 minutes ( insert head tilt, attitude and eye roll).... I said thank you and left. I know the service industry is hurting right now, but rude and lazy employees are hurting small business owners even more. My husband brought me here. Honestly, I thought a cheese steak? In Sanford Florida? By oil change places off of 46? But man this is truly a philly cheese steak and they even had herrs chips! Coming from New York City I would frequent Philadelphia a lot for some good old cheesesteaks, and now living in Florida I can still get the authentic stuff. Good specials, and decent food. Quick service with friendly customers. This 3 star is not due to bad experiences, just simply because its ok. Its not great. Apparently they are a chain (didn't know til after), not that thats a problem just something I didnt know. I had the Italian sub and as I said above, the price point was good, the bread was fresh, and the meats were good. They slice in house and provide a pretty good sub, but I personally would prefer Jimmy Johns over them (But not Jersey Mikes). I am from Pennsylvania, so it hits home to see Herrs potato chips! Great cheesesteak, and wonderful people. We had lunch for the first time last week, although we've been meaning to go for some time. Not fancy, but a great value. I had the ultimate sub and it was loaded with meat and cheese and peppers. The large is really large. Enough for two. The fries were fabulous and the hot dog was split and grilled. Yum. They're always closed! At some point they must have drastically reduced their hours. The last 3 times I've gone there for dinner, they were closed. The food is actually pretty good. I love their cheese steak, it's incredible. Unfortunately, they're not open during regular dinner hours. Twice, during the week, I stopped in on the way home from work to pick up dinner, but it was a few minutes after 7pm and the place looked abandoned. Seriously, they weren't cleaning up and closing down...they were gone, lights out, no one in sight. Then today, a Sunday afternoon, we stopped by just after 5pm and again they're closed. Wth? The posted hours say open until 6pm. Even that's ridiculously early and they didn't stay that long!! Now that I think of it...I haven't seen the place open in weeks, maybe months. This has been a go to sub shop for me for 20 years, used to get my subs from the owner and his wife, then his kids and it has always been amazing until today, I ordered a 10 inch chicken cheesesteak supreme for pick up, they made me a cheesesteak instead, the taste was below par, I was eating it until a found a mushroom with a long dark hair wrapped around in a ball, not sure if this store has new ownership but it's just not even close to what it used to be. read more

Stopped by here for the first time after eating at the Lee Rd. location for years. I'm not going to use this to trash the Winter Park restaurant at all, I want to be completely clear about that. Love them, still gonna eat there, but..I prefer this location. This location has about the same availability for parking as Lee Rd. as well as about the same amount of seating. None of those were ever problems for me. I did get to chat a bit with some of the employees at this location and they were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Food here is as good as advertised. Got family in Philly and many friends in town originally from Philadelphia that have co-signed on the authenticity of the sandwiches here at these two establishments. Good price, good amount of food, and a good atmosphere. I do favor this location slightly more because in my own subjective opinion, the meat (albeit my only time eating here) was more juicy and more flavorful than my history at Lee Rd. Sanford and Winter Park are both excellent in what they do, but if I have extra time to ride up to Sanford, I would prefer to do so for this type of sandwich. read more

Just don't expect a Lee Rd experience. They par cook the fries here... other location never does this. Makes them greasy. Quality will always be a little harder. Had a deluxe Italian today, bread was stale or bag was open to long. Made it split in the middle and just wasn't good. I live closer to this location, just can't get the same quality. Right down to the poor soda choices. Thank god they carry Mr. Pibb with the other no name brands. Laspadas is seriously the best sandwiches I have ever had. Just stick to Lee Rd location. So I did the thing I hated most when I worked as a server--I showed up 10min before close... But these guys still delivered unbelievable customer service! I got a 10" cheesesteak combo and I had them make the cheesesteak "supreme style" so it came with onions, peppers, and mushrooms. It looks and smells delicious, but it's still boiling lava hot and I've only risked my personal safety for a few bites. The fries would be nearly perfect on their own, but have them add cheese.
