I lived in this city and yet I only have discovered this tiki bar recently. Feels like a hidden treasure since the exterior of the bar front is somewhat non-descriptive other than the bar's name. SF is not known for its nightlife since most places close down around 10pm. And Sunday night is no exception. Fortunately one of my friends knew a tiki bar nearby was still open past 10pm and off we went to get some drinks and continue the night. I really love the theme and the vibe of this place. Skulls, aircraft parts, dark ambiance with smoke, storm sounds, and music. Such Halloween vibes! If you are sensitive to sudden loud sounds, it can be overwhelming, but that's my heads up to you. We were greeted promptly by staff and since it was late, there was plenty of seating available. I noticed on some tables there's a 90 minute limit for parties to stay which I presume this place in very popular during peak hours. Tasha was our server and she was great! Have plenty of recommendations on drinks we should order and they did not disappoint. Aside from their alcoholic drinks, they had some nonalcoholic ones also recommended. I did not see any food listed on the menu aside from some fried wonton chips -- so it is mainly just a drinking and socializing place. Went on a tiki bar crawl and this was our last stop of the evening and it did not disappoint. The staff were amazing. Our server helped us scope out a spot to sit, which was not an easy task for a group of five on a Saturday night. The drinks were phenomenal. I had the Kali Ma's Doom, and it was the perfect level of sweetness, plus it came with a roasted marshmallow and watermelon slices. Who doesn't love a drink that comes with a snack?? I wanted to try most of the cocktails on their menu (their menu is very beautifully done) There is usually a short line so it might take around 25-30 minutes to get in but it is totally worth it. The long goodbye was like a milkshake I know I've always longed for but could never find. A light fluffy drink that's not super sweet. Was perfect and still strong. I was on a tiki bar tour and had to make a stop at Last Rites! Last Rites is a chill, neighborhood bar that serves Tiki drinks. There is tropical decor, although it is light and doesn't feel totally integrated somehow. The bar area itself is cool but only had a few hanging skulls. Our drink, "No Doctor on Board" was meant to share but I'm not sure why. It lasted a few sips each and barely hit our brains. It did not hit us over the head with flavor, either. I'd try something else maybe. If you are looking for tiki, I'd visit Pagan Idol and Zombie Village first. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd stop by often but not really a destination spot for me. read more

Cool spot: great unique drinks, talented bartenders and they nailed the tiki theme. However, this bar is very small inside so arrive early if you want a seat. We came early on a Saturday (by 8pm) and were able to snag some seats at the bar after waiting about 10 minutes. None of the tables were available, and shortly after we arrived it got packed and everyone had to stand in the crowded space. I heard they were limiting entry and they had a line outside. If one of us got up to use the restroom multiple people asked for the seat. When you walk in, pretty much what you see is the entire bar. There are a couple larger spaces for big groups in the back by the large skulls. The tables all appeared to be for groups of 4+, as was the flaming drink. I think there's about 8 seats at the bar. If we had arrived any later and had to stand in the small, crowded space, I wouldn't have enjoyed it. But sitting at the bar was OK because we got to watch them make the drinks. They did a great job with the theme of the bar and it felt classy, not cheesy. The decorations, sounds and smoke were pretty cool and it made you feel like your airplane crashed in the jungle. The bar area looks like the inside of a plane overtaken by the jungle. We sat in tall bar seats and the seat tops were like airplane seats, and even had arms that raised up. It was very dark inside. The drinks were all good, had unique ingredients, although a bit pricey. I also liked that they have a full menu of fancy nonalcoholic drinks. We tried 5 different alcoholic drinks and they were all good. Check out their drink menu online ahead of time or you can scan the QR code when you enter. We left about an hour and a half later and it was super packed with a line waiting outside. They have 2 unisex restrooms in the back, but there was always a line. read more

A super cool and innovative take on a tiki bar. I absolutely love tiki bars and was pleasantly surprised by Last Rites' ambience, service and drinks. The decor is a bit MASH meets Indiana Jones, I like that they stayed away from appropriating Polynesian culture and instead decorate with cool vintage pieces and realistic looking (though very plastic) skulls. It is much smaller than some of the other tiki bars in the area, and we waited outside about 15 minutes before being let in. There are around 10 seats at the bar, maybe 5 booths and standing area between. We ordered drinks while sitting at the bar and received them about 10 minutes later. They were delicious. Not many traditional tiki drinks on the menu but they do have several non-alcoholic options, nice to see! Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. read more

Wooot! Finally got to try this cool little tiki themed "speakeasy". We always pass by this place and there's always a long line. But my friends and I were trying to think of what to do next after finishing a movie and it was too early for dinner. So killing time at a speakeasy it is! Since we came at opening, we were able to get inside with no wait. Bet get this, we only arrived 8 minutes after opening and there was already no tables! So maybe get here like before opening if you want to guarantee a table. The drinks are strong! All of us in the party felt it after one drink lol that's probably why they put on the menu, limit to 2....I really enjoyed my drink, I got the last rites. I forget the name of everyone else's drinks but they were all good. Only reason I docked a star was because they don't seem to enforce the "tables is for groups of 4 or more" rule. What a hidden gem. Entering this place is entering another world and another time. It is decked out like you are stranded on an island from a plane crash. The ambiance is excellent and the drinks are AMAZING. We got the Long Goodbye and the Kali Mah, but were excellent cocktails that came with either a strawberry, or two pieces of watermelon and a toasted marshmellow. They have a new system now where you can only sit at the tables for 90 minutes and Everyone has to order at least 1 drink. If you see at the bar are standing then there is no limit. This bar is so cool and so much fun. I love their spooky and mysterious ambience, it's the definition of a good Tiki bar. I came here around 11 pm on a Thursday to grab a drink with my husband. There wasn't a wait then but we got a seating at the bar. Their menu has so much variety and the best part if they have a lot of drinks for non rum drinkers also. I ordered the Blue by Yee- Aesthetically it was so pleasing and it tasted delicious. It was a vodka based drink and the favours were perfectly balanced. The perfect amount of sweet and refreshing the cocktail was. This was a recommendation from the bartender when I told her what kind of flavour profile I prefer. The bartender seemed really sweet and she was enjoying what she was doing. We also had the zombie killer which was rum based and has absinthe as well. There's a limit two per person for this drink. Half an hour after having this drink I realised why they have a limit. It is pretty strong and delicious. One of those drinks which I would have before clubbing. Walked in on a Wednesday night around 7:00pm, all tables and most of the bar seats were full. We stood by one of the post/standing tables which has hooks to hang stuff to start and moved to a table once it opened up. Menu is through a scanned QR code and servers walk by to take your order. The design of the bar is so fun, feels like a scene from Indian Jones meets an airplane crash. The bar is a hollowed out aircraft, there are a few small tables towards the front that have actual pane seats. The back of the bar has a skull along with mood lighting and periodically a smoke show. Drinks: Mano A Mano - Slightly smoky from the mezcal with notes of tropical fruit, a little spice from the ginger, and a good balance of sweetness Zombie Killer - one of my favorite drinks at Last Rites, tropical, a little boozy, great notes of coconut, pineapple, and citrus with a little warmth from cinnamon, it's sweet but balanced, pina colada vibes but lighter Kali Ma's Doom - if your looking for something besides rum, this gin cocktail is delicious, a little boozy and sweet with nice grapefruit and lime notes. The watermelon and marshmallow garnish are a fun twist. Service was good, a little on the slow side since the servers take your order you have to wait for them to swing by and grab your order. Drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive but given the busyness totally understandable. One of my favorite spots in the city for tiki cocktails. The atmosphere and décor really make this place special.
