We flew out to Miami on a semi business trip so we were only there for 3 days. We were looking for interesting places to eat. We saw the Latin Cafe and noticed it had Cuban influence. We decided to have breakfast here. Now mind you we have been to NY, Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Gulf side of Florida and we've visited many cultural restaurants. But let me tell you what a different world in that restaurant. The food menu had typical breakfast items but the bread they serve with all meals is like Italian bread half loaf with butter toasted on the grill. Their coffee is served as an espresso shot and a cup of steamed milk. Their breakfast sausages had a different flavor. Their homefries looked similar to Italian potatoes with onions and peppers. The service from the waitress was sporadic . She was nice towards the end of our meal. The 1st impression didn't feel as welcoming as she was busy and running around. While taking our order she left mid way to finish another customers order. Towards the end of our meal she started to make conversation with us but would leave suddenly mid conversation. She is a very nice person with kind intentions but she obviously needed more help on the floor. For that type of restaurant her hand held ordering system I feel was not appropriate and they would benefit from old school writing it then entering it. For instance we had changed our mind on an item but she could not take or modify the order back because it was sent already to the kitchen. And with the rush she obviously did not have a minute to run back. Overall the food was edible, they over cooked the scrambled eggs I had ordered, like I stated before sausages had a different taste than chorizo or breakfast sausages, only 1 type of bread is served, but portions were a decent size. The parking was big and they take up 2 so parking here was not an issue. But it was an experience. I definitely 110% recommend coming to this restaurant with a native Spanish speaker. I got lost a few times making ordering confusing. Overall for me this is one and done experience. read more

I had one of the worst meals in my life here yesterday. I have eaten here many times over many years. It is usually good and dependable Cuban food, not the best, but always good. It is walking distance from a hotel I frequently stay in. But last night.... I waited to see a waiter, and it was some time before I received my drink. A table sat down after me (different waiter) and immediately got their drinks. Their food arrived before I was asked for my order. After that I waited 20-30 minutes without seeing my waiter, and then a different waiter arrived with the food. It was cold - even the pile of rice and beans and platains were cold. The vaca frita was burned and basically inedible - if I had another option I would have paid and left, but it was late, and this was the only food around. Cold and charred and tough as leather. Just awful. After "finishing" I looked for my waiter for the check. Another waiter cleared my plate. Finally I saw my waiter by the door, walked over, and gave him some cash and left. I never did get a check. Awful experience. Never again. read more

My husband was starving and this was the closest restaurant by the car rental place we had just visited so we decided to stop for a quick Cuban breakfast. I usually get the breakfast special that comes with eggs, home fries, ham, Cuban toast and cafe con leche (latte). My husband ordered the croqueta preparada. My food was pretty good. You honestly can't get eggs wrong unless you are a lousy cook. They were over easy just how I like them and the bacon was crispy. It included bacon, sausages and ham. As well as a big serving of home fries. I wasn't too thrilled about them. They were kinda mushy and the taste reminded me of Thanksgiving stuffing. But not as tasty. I've never had home fries with chunks of celery. I'm not a fan of celery so that was a negative for me. The other thumbs down was my tostada. They brought it out super quick and it seemed like it was NOT freshly pressed instead seems like it had been sitting there in the kitchen for quite some time. It was very soggy and not how a Cuban tostada should be- "toasty". My husband had the croqueta preparada and he said it was good. Not the best he's ever had, but not bad either. The fries he loved. Very crispy just how he likes them. Would I come here again, not really. Would I recommend? Only if you are starving and can't drive a bit further down to another spot or any local bakery! read more

The food was fairly good for a small chain restaurant. As Cuban food novices, we tried the appetizer sampler and found it tasty. Ceasar salad (needed a veggie) was from a bag. Sangria was good. The service was acceptable but the ambience outside is simply LOUD. Planes overhead and lots of traffic zooming by the outdoor dining is not their fault, and I asked for outdoor seating, so that's on me. I visited Latin Cafe 2000 for the first time on Friday evening. I've heard so much about this Cuban restaurant, really known by many Miami locals. I went with my boyfriend and as soon as we came in, one of the servers said we could sit anywhere. Right away another server brought us the menu and we got a couple of red sangrias to start. They only offer beer or wine. Sangria was ok and served in a big glass. Then I wanted to try one of their sandwiches but since it was so late I just ordered a light sandwich and the lighter one there was the Veggie Pressed Sandwich. My boyfriend who was starving, ordered the Grilled Chicken topped with onion and sides of rice and mashed potatoes. My sandwich was delicious! The bread was magic! Also, my boyfriend said all his food was delicious although I tried the rice and it was pretty bland. For dessert, we ordered the Flan which was delicious and super creamy! And the Crema Catalana. The Crema had a good flavor but it was way too watery. Overall, it's a good Cuban place to try at least once if you are in Miami. read more

Definitely one of the top Latin places to go to, their Pan con Bistec is awesome, one of the top places to go to if you're looking to have an amazing churrasco. The ambiance is relaxed, there are tvs around the restaurant continuously playing the Spanish favorites throughout the day so you won't miss a thing, and the service is impressive, very fast and really nice. read more

Except maybe that a local Cuban coworker took me here after telling him about my underwhelming experiences at highly priced tourist traps in downtown. This joint beats Havana 1957 - hands down ...with bugger portions, more flavorful food and incredibly low prices. Plantain chips were fantastic. Croquettes amazing ...and my vaca frita was so good that I will be craving that stuff while I am at home in Cali dreaming on Miami. You have not had an authentic Cuban coffee if you have not had it here. I have 2 Latin Cafe's closer to me but I always choose this location because it does not relate to the rest. This locations is fairly big. There's a window you can order from if you're on the go or if you'd like to sit and eat you have the option to sit inside in air conditioning or outside by the closed patio area or around the restaurant. Plenty of places to sit and eat. We always like to sit outside because Miami has nice weather 80% of the time. The waitresses are always quick and helpful. Menu's, water and bread (depending on the time that you go) are always brought to the table within minutes of being seated. The food portions are huge for the price. For about $12 you can get a plate of Morro, Chicken and Maduros and eat that for lunch and take half for dinner because trust me, it's enough. It's delicious and always fresh. Once you enter that food coma from eating all that food you can wash it down with a nice Cortadito (my fav) or if you're still craving a little something extra try their flans. Coconut and caramel are my favs. The Sangrias are good too. I love the presentation and for the price, it's not bad at all it is actually very refreshing. I don't think the meat could even be considered meat. The chicken was so dry that I couldn't chew it. I spent my bday weekend in the beautiful MIA and our Lyft driver recommended Latin Cafe and said I that it was really good. It worked out even better because it was right across the street from the hotel. The food was delicious I order a flank steak with rice And sweet plantains!!! Of course it was a Cuban Restaurant and I could not leave without trying a Cuban sandwich and it was mind blowing delicious. I will admit I did order some churros and I was not impressed they didn't taste like a dessert didn't really have much flavor to them The waitress was very nice well all the staff was actually everyone that you made eye contact with didn't hesitate to say good morning! The atmosphere was very nice and clean including the bathroom!! For food we ordered the Latin 2000 Sampler, Latin 2000 Sandwich, Pan Con Lechon, Cubano, and several Mahi Mahi sandwiches. Our favorite was the pan con lechon (the pork was juicy), followed by the Mahi Mahi. The other items were fairly dry, and didn't come with any sauces on the sandwich or side to help moisten it. Overall, everything was just a bit salty and greasy and lacking in other flavors. For drinks we ordered several cortaditos, a Cafe Cubano, and a Cafe Bombon. The cortaditos we're delicious. The Cafe Bombon cafe with a disgusting amount of condensed milk (50% of the drink), though I guess it looked nice? During a medical conference a group of us stopped by this restaurant since it was directly across the street.. I have to say that customer service was off... the employees were not welcoming at all.. the orders were all over the place, meaning the cashier didn't know whose order was what and the confusion set all the other orders back.. However, my food was very good.. I ordered grilled chicken, mashed potato's and salad... I have no complaints about the food.. the chicken was very well seasoned.. mashed potato's were great and the salad and vinaigrette was very good.. despite the long wait my food still had great temperature.. I am big on customer service and for that reason I gave this restaurant 3 stars, otherwise it would've been a 5 star experience for me.. I told my sweet sister that when I come to Miami I wanted some Cuban food. Well I got what I asked for and then some. I visited thos place Mother's Day Weekend. The inside seating was full so we opted to eat on the covered patio. They had fans blowing from the ceiling which added to the breeze that was already present. Ever so often a nice mist of hydrating water would rain down on us. It didn't wet us which was cool. We ordered our food which was a little challenging because the menu is in Spanish and English secondary. The server is also Spanish so we were able to tell her what we wanted. I ordered some kind skirt steak with garlic, black beans and rice and plantains. My sis ordered a traditional Cuban sandwich and my niece had a burger. That burger was the real deal and huge. I asked for some type of fruit juice because I didn't want soda or water. The server suggested Watermelon juice. Now I'm thinking this is some kind of mix. Nope it was pure juice from the watermelon nothing added to it. As if they put it in a juicer. No mam I can't drink that. I asked for water instead. I really enjoyed sitting and people watching here. The food was good and the service was excellent. Portions are large except for the coconut flan (my favorite) but it was delicious!! I enjoyed eating in the patio dining area at my first visit and dined inside in my recent visit. The interior reminds me of a typical family restaurant in San Diego. I really wanted lunch because I was only in town briefly but they were serving breakfast. The server asked to see if they could make the churrasco for me and they obliged! I had many of my favorites from my visit last year including the flan de coco and two cups of cafe con leche. The prices are outstanding, service is great and the food is very tasty and delicious!
