I had a really good experience here on a late Thursday night. Didn't know it was happy hour at 11pm but I'm definitely not complaining. The Tacos ($12) were amazing with chicken and portobello tacos being my favorite. The margaritas were $5 any flavor you want. First time here and I loved it! My spicy margarita was perfect! I also ordered a taco bowl which was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and the cilantro rice was delicious! I am very satisfied. I'm already planning my next outing there the only thing that I wasn't impressed by was our waiter he rarely came to our table and had us waiting forever for our check but besides that I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

This place is always a hit every time I go. The drinks are so good and they put enough tequila in them for the price to be worth it. The food is phenomenal, and my friends and I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and this one is one of the best in Fairfield by far. The only issue is the tip and service charge being included that they put on the bill before you pay. But it doesn't stop us from coming. Been to Latina Cantina twice and can't wait to visit again. First visit I ordered the roasted corn appetizer, expected corn on the cob but received something way better, it was a corn dip. To start, the atmosphere of this place was not bad. The food was decent as well as the drinks. Alright now, let's move on to the bad. Our waiter, although he was nice, did not take any notes on our order and although skeptical, I was trusting. Every. Single. Order came out wrong besides the empanadas and drinks. The waiter did offer to remake my tacos, but he did not even know the meals of my dinner companions were wrong. To top this all off, beware: I was there with two other people and auto gratuity is added to the check to the tune of 20% regardless of the amount of people. I must make a side note that regardless of service, I always tip a minimum of 20%, but this was still a surprise. All in all, the restaurant has potential and maybe I went on an off night. However, in my opinion, after my experience it is not deserving of the almost 5 star review it has. read more

Food was very very mediocre. We had the nachos which were passable. We then ordered the 2 vegetarian tacos - the portobello taco and the cauliflower taco. They were absolutely terrible. The pesto on the portobello taco was so salty that I could taste nothing else; the cauliflower was fried n so incredibly oily that it tasted like mushy oily bread. Then we ordered a chicken rice bowl. Thr cilantro lime rice had enough lime to feed an entire town. It was so sour that it made my teeth hurt. Overall, very disappointed with the food. First and last time...you walk in to the smell of pot and pictures posted of people not permitted into the restaurant. As if that first impression wasn't enough, took half an hour for a drink and another half hour to place an order, no water refills, there were only 4 tables in total being served. Music was loud, club like music. Prices were high and 20% tip was automatically included for a table of 4 which is crazy given how poor service was but perhaps that's why. I'm visiting Fairfield from out of state. My friend wanted to take me out to dinner, to a new spot we hadn't tried before. Latina cantina was one of the best choices we could of made! The street corn appetizer really hit the spot, the bourbon tacos were delicious, and to finish off-the Birria(pork) tacos were so tasty, and flavorful! The food HITS! Aesthetically, the interior was cool and calm and had such a beautiful array of real plants! Good music and good vibes. The employees were super friendly and helpful and I honestly can't say enough good things about this place, the food, and the people! Talk about hitting it out of the park. Drinks tasted ok but stingy on the pour and expensive. The atmosphere is nothing great. The service was ok but not super friendly. The empanadas were good. Came here for brunch and sat at bar with my husband. There were only two other people at the bar. Got a drink and several things my husband wanted weren't available. The music was so loud it was like a club and the frozen margarita machine was constantly rattling. We waited to place a food order and decided to leave as service was so slow. They add on their on 20 percent tip. I would tip the bartender today as I always tip servers but not 20 percent. read more

Been a fan of this restaurant for a while. But last night - they were so gracious I had to review. We walked in on a Thurs night with no reservation (didn't realize we needed one). Everything was booked so we went to the bar (4 of us). Then they found us a table! Then we found out another friend was joining. So we were 5 instead of 4. They quickly moved tables around to accommodate us all at one table. They never once said "sorry - we can't do it...". They were great. And the food was amazing, as per usual. Tacos were great and happy hour looks amazing. The only reason I won't give a 5 star is because a 20% tip (which included tax) was automatically charged for the 2 of us. We may have given 20% anyhow, but the customer should always be allowed to choose the tip based on level of service. For that reason alone, we may not return. That's a shame! read more

Delicious food. Great appetizers. Large selection of tacos. Tried most of them and all were delicious. Kids favorite is the churros for dessert. Good mojitos. We've gone back 3x so far. My man and I had to play "Rock Paper Scissors" to decide who was going to have the second bite of the small tacos we ordered during the REVERSE happy hour from 10 pm - 12..... so succulent, taste-bud-i-ful , a proper Latin Ratatouille-ish experience!! We couldn't decide which taco was better...from the rock shrimp taco with the citrus slaw and coconut honey sauce, to the calamari taco with its loud and sweet chili sauce that perfectly complemented the calamari!!! - to the BOURBON CHICKEN taco that we both closed our eyes on the first bite, instantly transported to the South with pulled chicken, perfect barbecue sauce - somehow! - so Delicious! And then a sip of the $5 margaritas to wash it all down... this place, so far, is Amazing!!!! read more

**This review is not based upon their food... just bad margaritas.** Their menu was interesting and we were excited to try this new place since we are always up for Mexican food. At 6pm on a Saturday, it was a bit quiet and the ambiance was, well, fine. Staff was also... fine. We weren't quite feeling it but decided to stick it out since we were hopeful the food would be good. We sat at the bar, where we often like to chat with the bartender, but he wasn't very personable. We were also initially turned off by the jugs of pre-made cocktails on the shelf. All of their "signature cocktails" were pre-mixed sitting out. We ordered two margaritas, which were also premixed, but at least had been refrigerated. Sorry to say that they were terrible - definitely didn't taste fresh. With a slow crowd, I can't imagine they are emptying those jugs on a nightly basis so it made me wonder how often they refresh those cocktails. And if that was a fresh batch of margarita, they need to rethink their recipe. As a "cantina", you've got to have a good marg! We didn't finish our drinks and ended up going somewhere else for dinner - another Mexican place in town we love where the vibe is awesome, the bartenders are friendly, and the margs are delicious (as is the food). read more
