Lucked out one night and was able to snag tickets to the Nasty Show for free through Eventbrite on a Saturday. It was the last show of the day. The line started forming at 11 pm, and it snaked around the lobby. There were 7 comics in the show, some more well-known than others. Only 1 was hard to watch. Props to the emcee for keeping the energy up and being hilarious herself! Since we didn't have to pay for the tickets, the 2-drink minimum didn't bother us that much. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol so luckily they had non-alcoholic options. The cheapest drink you can get is priced at $3, so if you're able to catch a free show but have to get 2 drinks, you're still essentially paying less than $10. Not bad at all. read more

THE JOKE'S ON YOU They say that laughter is the best medicine......but what good does that do when your leg's fallen off from frostbite?!? Ain't no amount of humor gonna bring that sh*t back! I could use a whole slew of colorful metaphors to describe the unbearableness of having to stand outside in the cold for 45 minutes before the start of a show, but I'm just going to cut thru the fluffery and say this: Of all the performance venues I've been to - Arcada, Paramount, HoB, Genesee, Chicago Theater, Cadillac, to name a few - every single one has an indoor foyer you can wait in, grab a drink, and avoid nonsense like negative 7°F wind chill in late December. Laugh Factory doesn't, and that's just plain stupid. So you have to wait outside, which during nicer weather is no problemo. But when the temp drops and doors allegedly "open" "half an hour before" shows start, you've no choice but to huddle together and hope for the best. They won't let you in until every last soul from the previous show has exited, and since some people leave at their leisure/linger at the bar, this process can be excruciating for those stuck standing in subzero weather. The 2 drink minimum per person doesn't phase me at all, nor do the prices of booze ($10 small cocktail, $6 bottles of beer). What did bother me was the fact that they were OUT of hot cocoa, literally the one and only thing my date wanted. That definitely didn't help matters. It took a long time for a server to come over and take our drink order and by the time she got back with two soft drinks the 2nd performer had already finished! I get that she was likely swamped but it still sucked that a couple of simple sodas took upwards of 20 minutes. Comedians were overall very funny, a couple flopped, and a few killed it up there. One guy made a comment about how dude's balls are essentially an antique coin purse made out of eyelid skin! That had me crying with laughter, which is exactly what my date and I came here for. I'm glad I purchased tickets for late night standup but Laugh Factory is far from the most guest-friendly venue in Chicago. Not having a lounge/indoor waiting area is TOTAL horse crap and different from every other place I've seen shows at (even Second City has plenty of indoor space). Might return in the future but NEVER again between the months of November and April. It's just too damn cold out and Laugh Factory won't accommodate your frozen ass, as they'll all be inside laughing their warm toasty buns off. read more

My husband and I attended a show on March 17, 2018. The entertainment was the best...the customer service...the worst! We asked to pay our bar tab in cash and was told that was no problem, but a credit card was needed to order our drinks, but would not be charged. We understood the policy and gave our card to the waitress. Big mistake! When the tab came my husband paid in cash, including the tip and destroyed the charge slip. The next day I checked my account and discovered they charged our card as well as taking our cash! I have been trying since March 19, 2018 to get a refund, but no luck. They have called back numerous times after I leave a message and promise to send a refund, but as of today I am still waiting. This is unacceptable. I will never return and I would not trust them with a credit card for sure! As of today, November 2, 2018 I STILL do not have a refund. I spoke with Brian a few times, who assured me it was being resolved at their office in Hollywood, and that he was personally going to send me my refund with his own check! I went to the 730 show tonight on 10/22/22 for what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening. I've been to laugh factory numerous of times and have always enjoyed myself. Unfortunately, this time around I can confidently say I did not laugh the entire 90 minutes. I took offense to a joke about rape (from a male comedian) another about disability and racism that's predominant in todays society. Im not even going to mention the one about child abuse. I understand that yes, jokes can be dark and we as audience members should remain neutral and open. With that said, a line was crossed tonight. Perhaps I am biased, but being located the suburbs - I prefer Zanies in Rosemont or the Improv Comedy Club at the Woodfield Mall. This place comes up short as there's no draft beer, so with the 2-drink minimum you're paying about 20 dollars for lukewarm beverages, including the 18% automatic gratuity. While I'm not stingy, it seems a bit overkill when the ticket price is roughly 30 dollars and you're also stuck paying for parking. The assortment of local comics wasn't too bad- it was an eclectic mix. I laughed more at a couple acts as compared to the other's. Some of the political jokes were a turnoff to me. I don't get offended easily, yet when I go out to enjoy comedy, I would rather not hear too much about politics. All in all a fair comedy joint - just not one I would be eager to revisit in the near future. read more

Purchased tickets to the Laugh Factory for the Saturday 8pm time. Overall, I had a good time. 4 out of the 5 comedians were funny so I spent a good amount of time laughing. Next time I come back I will certainly look for free tickets online as they seem to be readily available. If you purchase a bucket of beer, you get 2 free tickets. Also, if you check into the venue you get 2 free tickets. I think they are able to give out so many free tickets due to the 2 drink minimum. They truly enforce this 2 drink minimum as well. I was half way done with my first drink when the waitress came up and told me it was last call so I needed to put in my 2nd drink order. I would personally rather pay a bit more for the tickets than be forced to purchase 2 beverages. The prices are not cheap either. HEE HEE No that's not a Michael Jackson impersonation but the sound I make at the factory of laughter. I'm so glad it opened a branch in Chicago. I mean we have no shortage of funny around here: Second City, infinity inprov groups, tons of theater, random art, our economy and politics. But there can never be too much laughter, it is the best medicine. And it's a good ab workout. Going you will generally have to wait in line outside which can be vexing but if you chat with your partner and others in line it helps. Very strange they don't open it up so people can buy drinks at the bar before the show. That's lost revenue. The theater is cozy, yet spacious. The tables aren't too close and the aisles are wide. I prefer to sit front row center. The backdrop a lit stained glass looking arch on the stage is odd- it reminds me of the church. All the comics I've seen have been really funny. I like that besides the famous headliners they showcase locals and up and coming acts. I like the diversity of styles of comics. Some do observational humor, some are self deprecating, and few riff on current events and celebrities. I appreciate the organization is big into philanthropy. They serve pizza and chips and salsa. The servers are great. Tips There's many ways to see free or reduced shows. There's a Yelp check in offer for 2 FREE tickets. Also, they host many free nights and events (with 2 drink minimum). This is my favorite comedy venue in the city. They have a nice variety of stand-up comedians who do short (maybe 10-15 minute) stints on stage. If the comedian is flopping then they quickly swap him/her out for a new one. It's a nice way to hear a lot of fresh material. I haven't heard of any of the comedians before; however, they have often been on television, have DVDs, or have written books. I don't think there's any reason why you should have to pay for a ticket at the Laugh Factory. For one thing, they have a Yelp check-in offer for free two tickets. For another thing, they sometimes give free tickets after the show for you to come back again. The Yelp Deal didn't work for me. We tried to use it at the Laugh Factory for drinks or whatever and the server (who had to ask a manager) said we couldn't. I tried it online and it said the code wasn't valid. I called the Laugh Factory and they assumed that I was talking about the check-in offer (which is free). SOoooo.... I got my money back from Yelp. The two purchase minimum isn't a big deal. Who doesn't want to have a drink while watching some comedy anyway? It loosens up the laugh muscles. The food is really, super basic: hot-dog, chicken fingers, and something else... chips and salsa maybe? And that's all the food. You can buy it if you want, but I channel my money toward the beverages. Finally, the reason why I really love the Laugh Factory is because it's nice and clean. It's spacious enough where you're not right on top of your neighbor. There are no funky odors or questionable residue. It doesn't feel like a renovated garage. I'm a huge fan of stand up comedy and this is a great spot to catch some local comedians. Last Saturday a group of four of us got tickets to see a headliner comic I had never heard of before. Tickets were only $10 each, but really they came out to $15 when the fees and everything were added in. Regardless, pretty cheap ticket to see a few warm-up comics plus the headliner all on the iconic Laugh Factory stage conveniently located near a ton of bars and restaurants in Lakeview. There's a 2 drink minimum which is pretty standard at most comedy clubs. Be sure to note that you have to order your drinks from your waitress, because if you go up to the bar those drinks don't count towards your 2 drink minimum. My gal pal and I ended up splitting a bottle of wine which took care of our drink minimums. It was a classy Barefoot bottle for a whopping $40, but again, pretty standard for a setting like this. Most importantly, the comedians were absolutely hilarious and it's a great venue. They tend to get a handful of large names to perform here as well. Definitely a fun night out with friends! The Laugh Factory provides good stand-up in one of the nicest comedy venues in Chicago. I was a regular this spot's predecessor (Lake Shore Theater), and this place completely blows it away. The interior is cleaner and more modern, they added a balcony and tables on the main floor (no more movie theater seats), and threw in some flat screen TVs and a beautiful stage backdrop. I caught the 'Best of the Midwest' show and the talent was pretty high-caliber. The sets are shorter, but we got to see about eight comics which kept things fresh and fast moving. Of course some were better than others, but the majority of the comics were experienced and funny. For $10, this is a better value than the Old Town comedy venues and on par with some of the less popular venues (e.g. Lincoln Lodge, Comedy Bar). They do require a two-drink minimum, but they let you know this before you purchase the tickets. This place sort of a chain since it has Hollywood and Long Beach locations, but they do a good job of keeping the menu local. The only beer they serve is Goose Island (about five types in bottles) and they serve Gino's East pizza. The service seemed to be great for 95% of the patrons, but I was ignored as I sat on the very left side of the stage (on the raised wrap-around section). I'm not sure what broke down, but I actually had to grab the waitresses attention and order at the bar a couple times. I had a Groupon for this place for the longest and decided to use it last night. It definitely was worth it! Despite the two drink minimum, I had a fabulous time. There was about 5 comedians who performed and Pat Tamasulo hosted. If you've watch WGN news you've seen him before. The headliner of the show was kind of so so, but the rest of the comics made up for it. Overall, the venue is a nice size and I was surprised that I had a lot of freedom to sit where I wanted to. Since I love comedians to interact with me I chose to sit right in the front. If you want to sit there try going about 30-40 minutes before the shows opens to have a better chance. I also got two free tickets at the end of the show from following them on Facebook. I will definitely be checking them out soon! read more

I don't like to go out of my way to write reviews, but the show I attended actually made me laugh really hard and I wished for a longer set for the comedians. The first time we came here (2 years ago), I didn't think the comedians were that funny. However, this second time was awesome. For those that say the drinks are expensive, I don't think $6 for a glass of wine is asking for too much in the city. For those w bad reviews, I can see that the shows can be hit or miss (as the one I previously attended was), but I would gladly give this place another shot after tonight. Went to a Sunday show last night, a really fun mix of open stand-up and semi-competitive improv! The comedians were all very funny and good at being in the moment. For only paying a small Goldstar fee and 2 reasonably priced drinks each, very much worth doing for a fun date night!! They also gave us a set of free tickets for ordering the drink of the day. Nice small enough venue that we got to say hi to the performers afterwards at the bar. It was chilly inside, be advised, but the drink minimum is understandable as you'd probably get thirsty at any venue when you're laughing a lot. Our waitress was also very sweet. read more

The Laugh Factory is huge, if you're a local who is a fan of the stand-up comedy art form. Legends have performed here, guys and gals have been discovered here, and the bold, confident, unfunny people have conquered their fears up on this stage to see if they really have what it takes to make a group of strangers collectively laugh at bits that you've made up. All of this and more has been done here at the Laugh Factory. I went for my first time ever on the day before Thanksgiving, when I won two free tickets to go see WGNs very own Pat Tomasulo perform, and man he was as hilarious as he is on the news every morning. He killed it. I can't say the same for the opening acts prior to him, but the overall value in entertainment was obtained. Be aware of the two drink minimum. You will not be able to get around this, so suck it up and drink. It might even make the comedians funnier if you're not feeling some of the artists. Again, I feel this is a great place.
