It took about 15 minutes for them to make our food. we paid $20 total, including tip, and we sat outside on the patio to enjoy the gorgeous weather. I was standing in line for a while, waiting for the cashier to finish a call-in order. A girl walked in past me and up to the takeout counter, right next to where I was standing waiting to place my order. A guy comes up from the back and starts taking her order while I stand there with my arms up trying to get him to notice that he just skipped me. I get that she was cute and all but I was pretty obviously in line. I doubt he did it on purpose but it was still pretty rude to pay no attention to the person waiting and just serve the attractive girl. I left and went to Sweet Basil. They know me by name there and I've only gone 5-6 times. I would like to think it's because I have a somewhat unique name, say thank you and always tip - but it's likely because, that close to campus, being in your 30's sticks out! read more

Loved this place! Good vibe and has cool art throughout the place. It is quiet and the service was great. We had the Soylent Green bowl for $9.50 which is: Sauteed kale and steamed broccoli on a bed of quinoa topped w/ house -marinated tempeh. You choose three different sauces and we had the cilantro-pesto. It was a generous size portion, so we shared it and split a vegan cookie. The bowl was healthy and tasty. This is a very decent, super casual spot to grab a bite. We had a lovely outdoor meal in the evening. It is great to be able to order at the counter and then eat on the patio. The servers are very friendly and warm. You can get your own water and silver wear and you also bus your own table. I ordered a Cuban bowl with beans and sweet potato and plantains. It came out quickly and was nice a hot. I got the salsa on the side. My husband and friends also got a Cuban bowl, but in burrito form. Another dish was a corn and bean bowl. The bowl was a generous serving and very colorful. Both of my children ordered a bean burrito. The servings were a very nice generous size. Living in Eugene, I have only been to Laughing Planet twice. The juice is delicious, but since it is bottled it wont actually be as healthy as branded. It's still pretty much over priced sugar water. The food is also pretty delicious, but over priced. I can stand over priced mediocre food, but I can NOT accept paying for over priced food accompanied with shitty service. Twice, I have had a cashier with attitude, trying to rush through my order and rolling eyes when I asked questions. The whole experience of eating out is partially for the service. Why should I eat at your establishment of over priced mediocre food with shit service when I can just make the same dish at home? read more

I would eat at Laughing Planet more if I could afford it. While the food is fresh and their dishes are creative, the steep prices for the amount of food is a little hard on my wallet. Service here is also hit or miss. I've come in here and had excellent service where my food was ready in 15 minutes and I've also had to wait 25 minutes for my food with people barely saying hello as they took my order. Since I love to cook at home, many of the dishes are things I could make myself but of course the convenience of eating out is why I come back here when I need a meal that's on the healthier side. The inside of the restaurant is really casual with dinosaur figurines speckled around the place giving it it's quirkiness. They also have some tables outside that you can hang out and people watch on a nice day although you do have a view of the parking lot. You order at the counter, grab a number and find a seat. They have a monthly and seasonal special that changes and the times I have ordered the special I have not been disappointed. You can make anything into a bowl or a burrito and they are very understanding when it comes to substitutions. If you're eyeing their cookies while at the counter, just buy one. You will thank me later. The delicious and perfectly baked cookies are vegan and big enough to share if you really want to but if you eat the whole thing I don't blame you. They are THAT good. They do a great job of making all the ingredients come together but not letting them overpower each other. They have some great drink choices like aqua fresca, smoothies and even a flu kicker (hot water, lemon, ginger, cayenne and honey). I have yet to try their other location but if I'm hungry and looking for a healthy alternative with a few extra bucks to spare I'll be sure to remember Laughing Planet and call in my order so I don't have to wait long when I get there. read more

This is the first review I've ever written. I like Laughing Planet's food a lot, but I am boycotting this business (Willamette location) until it takes a hard look at its business model for customer service and makes some changes. The reason for a 1-star review is 4 fold: 1) On a consistent basis, the employees seem rude, like they don't care or like they hate their jobs. It was refreshing to encounter an employee who seemed upbeat and happy. This happened ONCE. Is it the type of employees they hire, is it lack of training and/or is Laughing Planet a lousy employer? The latter is what I suspect because the turnover seems like it's higher than other food industry businesses around town. Suggestion: confer with Dutch Bros about their training program. 2) After paying for my take out (and adding a tip on that order), I was forced to wait 40 minutes with one excuse after another, i.e. "I'm so sorry; we're slammed," " I'm sorry, I don't know what happened to your order. You'll be next," "I'll check," but never following up. I finally asked an employee to check a foil wrapped item that had been sitting on their take out rack for 30 minutes after I noticed other patrons picking up their orders and leaving after my arrival. It was my order yet not a single employee (including ones I'd checked with) noticed the order sitting there for 30 minutes nor had anyone called out the name (my name) that was attached to the order. The employee didn't even offer to make me a new one that was hot but tbh, even if he had, after 40 minutes of waiting, I wasn't about to wait any longer. 3) Forgetting to include habanero sauce "on the side" at least three times. If you're someone like me who likes spicy, hot food, to eat a black bean burrito with spinach without sauce to spice it up, I might as well have been eating toast. 4) Today was the final disappointment. I ordered my usual black bean burrito with spinach. Since the third time my habanero sauce was forgotten, I always check to make sure it's included. In fact, for the first time, the order included two containers of habanero sauce, yay for me! Upon my first bite, I knew something was wrong. Instead of the black bean burrito with spinach that I ordered, it was a regular bean burrito, supposedly with cheese according to my receipt, except it didn't have any cheese in it. Even the habanero sauce couldn't fix the flat tasting, utterly disappointing plain bean without cheese burrito that I got. I'm someone who routinely adds a 20% tip, and often a 30%-100% tip at places I patronize because I believe food service workers work hard. But sadly, Laughing Planet won't get my business for a very long time or ever again. I will miss the black bean burrito with spinach and their habanero sauce though because like I said, I do like their food...when they get it right. read more

I honestly really like Laughing Planet. They have great vegetarian options, and I love their seasonal veggies. I like the vegan royal burrito, but I sub out the tempeh for broccoli instead. I'm giving these guys three stars because I have had very slow service in more than one occasion, and the food never seems quiet as good as their other location. I want to second what another reviewer said about inconsistent portions, sometimes they are huge, and sometimes I feel like it could have been a bit bigger. When I came to this location with a bit of a spontaneous visit because I was in the area and thought I would give them a try since I have not before. When I entered I was very much out of my element. The air was filled with a aura of hipster-ism and a hint of douchiness. Even the staff had a vibe of "we are better than you!" I put that aside for a moment and decided on the grilled chicken burrito with the addition of sour cream and guacamole. By the way the addition was an additional $2.50 on top of the $6.75 for the burrito. That is 37% of the cost of the burrito, sort of outrageous. For that price you would think the sour cream came from a rare yak in the Himalayas that is milked once a year by Nepali monks and the avocados from a golden avocado tree on a tropical island in a cave that can only be reached by swimming through shark infested waters. Even with the steep price at the end though the burrito definitely needed the addition. After a bit of waiting I got the burrito and was on my way. From the outside the burrito looked quite appetizing. When I bit into it, however, it was extremely runny due to the beans, which were quite bland. The chicken had a good grilled taste, probably the best thing in there. If it wasn't for sour cream and guacamole, there would hardly be any flavor. Was it the best burrito I ate? No.... Is it worth the price of $9.25? Hell no.... I am sure other people are used to paying high prices and don't mind it since they are located next to Market of Choice, where everything is overpriced and people don't mind paying it. For me Laughing Planet wasn't up to the hype that it portrays. Will I go back? Probably not! read more

Yum. Healthy, big portions, delicious. There's apparently some of these in Portland, but I've never been. I will make a point to go there after my awesome lunch in Eugene. I had a burrito and my friend had a big bowl of veggies. Mine was amazing! I would have preferred a larger side of sour cream (they just dont understand me). I give this a 2-star based on the smoothie I had alone. It was delicious and packed full of Berry goodness. That is the end of my good review. I don't know what may have been going on in the kitchen, but the Braised Beef burrito I had was deplorable at best. There was some sort of "pico" in it, that I am assuming was made up of dry-herb ingredients with some oil. It was incredibly overwhelming and contributed about a 1/4 of the bulk of my burrito. The 2oz of braised beef MIGHT have been tasty, had it not been for the dry herbs getting stuck in my teeth. The "grilled veggies" would have been right at home in the burrito. Corn and Peppers and Onions, Oh My! However, the Carrots, Zucchini and Broccoli that came in the burrito were practically raw and threw off the entire texture of the meal. To me texture is a huge thing, it will make or break many food items. They had propoganda on the tables that clearly stated that if you weren't happy with the food, let them know, they'll make it again. I didn't want to put myself through another burrito like that though. They can keep the 10 bucks it cost to purchase this joke of a meal. read more

Fantastic food; terrible atmosphere. We have a love/hate relationship with this place--the food is varied, imaginative, healthy, and delicious, and the staff is consistently friendly and competent. If only we didn't have to eat there... The acoustics are terrible, which I suppose can't be helped, but imagine the constant echoes of chair legs scraping on the cement floor, plastic cups bouncing on the tables, and kids shrieking (it's a child-friendly place, with toys and stuff, which is great--but an early dinner means a LOT of kids, and it's an echo-y space), all under screeching heavy metal music. Such a weird choice for a family dinner place! We've tried a few different seats, but there's no place that's very far from a speaker. We eat as fast as we can and get out, so we can talk to each other again. In the summer it's a bit better, because there's outdoor seating right next to a large busy parking lot, so that's a more peaceful atmosphere. Some acoustic tiles, plants to absorb sound, less busy and incongruent artwork (there are few fantastic pieces, but you'd almost never notice them), and some pleasant music (light jazz? just something instrumental, that isn't angry) would go a long way. Great food, though! 5 stars for food, 1 for atmosphere, so that's 3, I guess. read more

It's ok. The bean and cheese burrito is really good though it's got a surprisingly large amount of sodium in it which kind of sucks. I went here the other day and enjoyed it so we went back and the service wasn't as good. We were in line a long time and there was only one person at the register who was also taking phone orders. Yum! It took me awhile to find something here that I really liked. Some of the items on the menu can feel like they've just been thrown together haphazardly, and I really don't recommend the salads. My roommate got one and it was basically just lettuce and dressing-way too plain for the price. However, once I found something I liked, I was hooked! For me, that's the thai bowl. It's deliciously satisfying and the textures really work together unlike some of the other things I've tried here. The coupon books given out around the University of Oregon (I can't remember what they're called) usually have a few different coupons for this place as well, which makes the somewhat high prices (for the area) much easier to work with. There are toy dinosaurs all over the tables, which are great for kids or just anyone who acts like one (me). Overall, I would say give this place a few tries. Once you find something you like, you'll want to come back every day. read more

They are reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious (whether you are aiming for healthy or a fat-kid status meal). Super delicious smoothies (my personal favorite? Some dang good burritos. I'm normally not too concerned with texture, especially in something like a burrito, but even I can't help but notice how everything is always fresh and just the right temperature and cooked to perfection. Really full flavors on the molé and barbecue sauces, too (pretty much all I ever order). Laughing Planet burritos are sort of a different style from the chain places, which I also like, but I think I like LP better. Service can be un poco tarde sometimes, which is why it's missing a star. I've been to this location maybe a dozen times total and they've already totally lost my order twice, which is not a high success percentage. Both times they threw in some free chips as a peace offering, which was nice. I've given up hope of having zippy service anywhere in Eugene, though, so it doesn't bother me much. It's a good place for families, and there are a lot of very green items on the menu. My girlfriend and I go so that I can get something kind of heavy and meaty and she can get something super froo-froo with 5 different types of bitter greens in it. This is a one of my favorite places to go when I'm in the mood for something healthy that's not expensive. I love their vegetarian/vegan bowls and they offer great specials. There's also tasty meat options for others in your group who may not be so excited about vegetarian food. I usually get a green smoothie to go with my meal and take a giant cookie to go as a treat for later. They have gluten free and vegan cookie options that are always delicious. They also serve beer and kombucha by the glass as well as natural sodas. My daughter loves coming here too and she always gets the bean and cheese burrito. read more

Kim Chee and cheese in the same bowl is not something I thought would ever mix well. For some reason it worked when combined with their blend of fresh vegetables, beans, and rice. I eat here sporadically, & always get a burrito or Thai bowl--while pretty consistent in quality (good, non-greasy), the quantity fluctuates dramatically. My s.o. comes here pretty often, and mentioned the irregular servings. Last night, my burrito was noticeably smaller than usual--I came home and had a snack after. Slightly annoying for an $8 burrito: to me that's the high end of acceptable burrito prices... might chose other places for more dependable meals. Also, SO glad they have wine now - ! Yay!! But there again, the pour seems a little scanty, and is strangely served in teeny-tiny glasses that are filled RIGHT UP TO THE BRIM, so it spills all over my hand as I carry it to the table. Super friendly staff; tables feel a little grungy and paint could use a touch up, so things feel a little ramshackle. In that vein, I always feel like skimping on portions is a sign that a restaurant is going down - but will see. Food is worth giving this another try before abandoning altogether. I love laughing planet. It's family-friendly and, though not cheap, offers some really nutritious options at a fair price. The bowls are generously sized, so I, being pregnant, can eat my fill and feed my toddler for $10. The Bollywood Bowl is loaded with healthy protein (chicken), lots of veggies, and brown rice. The crunchy chickpeas and sauce really set it off. I order the sauce on the side so I can split it with my little guy (it has a mild kick to it), but he likes it too and will often dip his meat and veggies in it. This review is probably long overdue, since I eat Laughing Planet about once a week, but it just means that I've thought long and hard on it! I LOVE Laughing Planet. While I've had the occasional 'miss' on an entree, Laughing Planet makes a damn good burrito, bowl, quesadilla, smoothie, cookie... Ingredients taste fresh, and are prepared well. I follow their Facebook page (both the main one, and the Eugene one), and they always post their special burrito/bowl of the week, which is usually delicious. I love that they have seasonal items, and add new menu items fairly frequently, especially for a fast-casual place. Their burritos and bowls combine flavors from all over the world. My favorite parts: The habanero sauce is SO good. Slightly sweet (do they put carrots in...?), but heat that has me panting by the end of my burrito. The 7/7/7 deal at the Eugene locations is amazing: After 7:00, $7 burrito and pint, 7 days a week. Brilliant! Even without the 7/7/7, most items are reasonably priced--Most burritos are $6-8 and large. The rough: Don't plan on eating this while driving. Every now and then I'll get a burrito that holds itself together, but most of the time, drippy goodness starts seeping out the bottom. Apparently, our food was prepared and forgotten, because it lay on a rack waiting for packaging for about 20 minutes. That was the only bad thing about the experience. The gentleman who realized that our food had been sitting for quite some time seemed genuinely sorry for the error, but the waiting was frustrating all the same. I really love their vegan options and so I've decided to update my review entirely on my own. Thanks, Laughing Planet, for responding! :) Let me start by saying I really love Laughing Planet. However, a few circumstances have led me to become rather frustrated with them. I'm vegan and I appreciate all of the vegan items on the menu. Yet, on a number of occasions I have found little pieces of meat or cheese in my food, which is distressing and unappetizing. Last night, I ordered a Tempeh Royal (a completely vegan burrito). But when I pulled back the foil on it, there were little pieces of pork stuck to the outside of the tortilla. I had no idea whether or not I was given the right burrito and I sent it back. They made me a new one, which was vegan and it was great. On another occasion, I found pieces of chicken in my Harvest Bowl. It's frustrating that the cross-contamination is not under control. At other restaurants, servers will actually change gloves when making a vegan meal or they'll wipe down the work station to control cross-contamination. Not here. I love the food and the service is usually good. I just wish I could trust that the food was in fact vegan. read more

I used to love Laughing Planet, but unfortunately based on horrible employees that's changed. Every time I've ordered in the past 6 months they've screwed it up. I placed a phone order last week and they said it'd be 10-15 minutes. Great! I showed up 20 minutes later and they hadn't even made my food. I understand if things we were running behind, but they didn't even remember it. I will not be going back based on such poor employees. It's a bummer too, I love their food. read more
